- Abstract
The use of educational resources, including interactive keys, encourages the development of skills in the professional training of biology. In this paper, the educational value of interactive keys in the teaching of biology in plant systematic subject of algae and fungi is evaluated. Scores are analysed, main difficulties of laboratory reports and a survey was applied to students who completed the course in the 2015-2016 racecourses in Biology at the University of East. Interactive keys contribute to better educational qualifications are achieved in classes that used it (ANOVA: F = 9.423, df = 74, p = 0.003). In handling, those students select appropriate knowledge for the identification of plant species, allowed them to understand what they learn and can adapt to new situations (making key taxonomic identification or description of specimens). Besides learning it stimulated by increasing professional motivation. The introduction of interactive keys in undergraduate teaching is a good educational practice that allows teachers to fulfil the objectives (instructional and educational) and skills identified in laboratory reports are developed.
