A double-hit lymphoma is a high-grade B-cell lymphoma (HGBCL) with MYC and BCL2/BCL6 rearrangements. It is characterized by a rapidly progressive advanced disease, high rates of central nervous involvement (CNS), refractoriness to conventional chemotherapy, and poorer clinical outcomes. Carcinomatous meningitis is a condition in which cancer cells metastasize to the meninges without involving the brain parenchyma; this phenomenon has also been reported in the literature by other terms like "leptomeningeal meningitis," "leptomeningeal carcinomatosis," "leptomeningeal metastasis," or "neoplastic meningitis." This form of CNS involvement has been described as an infrequent complication with the trajectory of this aggressive lymphoma. Empyema is defined as an accumulation of frank pus within the pleural cavity. Empyema necessitans is a rare complication of the pleural space infection when the existing empyema extends into adjacent structures beyond the pleural space, usually into the soft tissue of the chest wall. If severe, it can externalize to the skin. Historically, one of the most common causes of this condition was uncontrolled tuberculous infections. Our study describes a case where empyema necessitans could be classed as iatrogenic. This patient was initially admitted for empyema secondary to community-acquired pneumonia, which was successfully treated with a course of antibiotics and insertion of a chest drain. She was discharged but had to be re-admitted after one month, this time with a chest wall swelling at the point of recent chest drain insertion, which began to ooze purulent discharge. Imaging confirmed the diagnosis of empyema necessitans, which was then treated with a combination of surgical and antimicrobial therapy. Empyema necessitans are now seldom encountered, owing mainly to effective antibiotics and anti-tuberculous treatment. It is perhaps even more rarely seen as a complication of chest drain insertion. Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) includes eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and microscopic polyangiitis. Pulmonary involvements such as interstitial pneumonia and alveolar hemorrhage are common in AAV, but pleuritis is rare. Here, we report a case of pleuritis associated with AAV. A 68-year-old woman was referred to our hospital because of bilateral wrist and knee pain, Raynaud's phenomenon, and a sclerotic change in her extreme fingers with elevation of proteinase 3 ANCA (PR3-ANCA) and myeloperoxidase-ANCA (MPO-ANCA). From a skin biopsy of her forearms and fingers, we diagnosed that the patient had limited systemic sclerosis. After her first visit at 15 months, she complained of pain in the side of her chest. Her chest X-ray and computed tomography showed left pleural effusion, and local anesthetic thoracoscopy was performed. Histological examination of the pleural revealed granuloma and vasculitis. Based on her symptoms and histological findings, we diagnosed this case as ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) and treated it with steroids and intravenous cyclophosphamide successfully. Unilateral pleural effusions may sometimes be difficult to diagnose. The cause may vary widely, including congestive heart failure, chronic liver and kidney disease, various drugs, and underlying undiagnosed disorders of the lung and pleura. With advancements in chest imaging, new biomarkers, and less invasive methods for obtaining tissue samples, it may be possible to identify the cause of the unilateral pleural effusions whose etiology is unclear. Even reviewing patient history, re-examining pleural fluid, classifying effusions based on Light's criteria, and ruling out pseudoexudates can help understand the cause. COVID-19 is a novel viral infection with a wide variety of clinical manifestations ranging from asymptomatic cases to severe respiratory illness. Laryngospasm is a spontaneous sustained closure of the laryngeal muscles leading to acute airway obstruction. We report a case of a 40-year-old male with a history of nephrolithiasis who underwent laparoscopic pyeloplasty and developed laryngospasm as a consequence of contracting COVID-19. The case was further complicated by the development of pneumothorax and pleural effusion during the postoperative period. The patient was managed with supplemental oxygen, antibiotics, antiviral therapy, and close monitoring. He recovered without any additional complications. Tuberculous pleural effusion, the second most common type of tuberculosis, poses diagnostic and management challenges, especially in patients with multiple comorbidities. A 58-year-old female with a history of poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease post-angioplasty, and stable chronic kidney disease presented with fever with chills, reduced appetite, dyspnea, and dysuria. A chest X-ray showed a blunted right costophrenic angle and ultrasonography revealed a moderate pleural effusion on the right side. Pleural fluid analysis confirmed tuberculous pleural effusion. Five days later, she developed slurred speech and a tingling sensation on the left side of her body. A computed tomography scan showed a left non-hemorrhagic lacunar infarct in the frontal lobe, which was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Cerebrospinal fluid was negative for tuberculosis. She was started on antiplatelets for the infarct. Electroencephalography was normal. She had hypocalcemia and hyponatremia related to renal failure, which were also corrected. This case illustrates the challenges of managing tuberculous pleural effusion in patients with multiple comorbidities. Background This study describes the end-of-life care management in palliative care units (PCUs) for patients with breast cancer in Japan. Methods The medical data of patients admitted to the palliative care unit of Kashiwara Municipal Hospital between October 2017 and December 2023 were analyzed. A chi-square test was conducted to analyze the data using the Excel software (Microsoft Corp., Redmond, WA). Results The most common clinical condition among the 32 patients with breast cancer in our palliative care unit was pleural effusion (17/32, 53.1%), followed by obstructive jaundice (6/32, 18.8%), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) (4/32, 12.5%), and hypercalcemia (1/32, 3.1%). Most patients had no indications for pleural effusion removal, biliary drainage, or anticoagulation therapy. Palliative sedation was performed in 25% of the patients with breast cancer, mainly to relieve intolerable general fatigue. There were no statistically significant differences in the sedation ratios between breast cancer and cancers at other primary sites. A 35-year-old man presented with fever, drenching sweats, severe shoulder pain, and bilateral cervical and supraclavicular lymphadenopathy on physical exam. Computed tomography of the chest showed hilar, mediastinal, and supraclavicular adenopathy, multiple pulmonary nodules, and a left-sided pleural effusion. Thoracentesis revealed a green pleural effusion. After a systematic workup and core biopsy analysis of a supraclavicular lymph node, the patient was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a self-limiting, benign illness that is typified by cervical lymphadenopathy, typically accompanied by a low fever and night sweats. Loss of weight, nausea, vomiting, and sore throat are fewer common symptoms. KFD can have an acute or subacute start, and it usually develops over two to three weeks. Although viral aetiology is still a concept that needs further research, the clinical, histological, and immunohistochemical aspects seem to support it. Since specific diagnostic laboratory tests are not available, the diagnosis is frequently established by excising a sample of the affected lymph nodes. This case study features a 63-year-old male patient who first complained of fever and dyspnoea. Lemierre's syndrome primarily affects healthy adolescents and young adults as a complication of oropharyngeal infection, most commonly pharyngitis or peritonsillar abscess. Fusobacterium necrophorum is the principal pathogen, and the infection presents with classic symptoms including fever, sore throat, and neck tenderness. However, atypical presentations can pose diagnostic challenges. This report discusses a patient in her early 60s, contrary to the typical demographic, who presented with a one-week history of varied symptoms including sore throat, pleuritic chest pain, and haemoptysis. Examination revealed mild neck tenderness and lung crepitations. Laboratory tests indicated leucocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP). Imaging revealed pulmonary infiltrates with cavitation. F. necrophorum was detected in blood culture, promoting a CT scan of the neck, which confirmed soft tissue swelling and a small peritonsillar collection, leading to the diagnosis of Lemierre's syndrome. The classical feature of jugular vein thrombus was absent, further underscoring the atypical nature of this case. The patient received immediate initiation of intravenous antibiotics, piperacillin/tazobactam, followed by meropenem. This was complemented by a carefully tailored 21-day intravenous course, followed by an eight-week regimen of oral antibiotics consisting of amoxicillin and metronidazole. The patient demonstrated significant clinical improvement in pulmonary complications. Follow-up imaging showed minor residual changes, and the patient remained asymptomatic. Lemierre's syndrome presents a diagnostic challenge due to diverse clinical manifestations. Key diagnostic markers include deep neck infections, septicemia, and metastatic infections. Timely utilization of diagnostic tools, such as blood cultures and imaging, aid in confirmation. Early diagnosis is crucial for prompt treatment and prevention of complications. This case emphasizes the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for Lemierre's syndrome, especially in atypical presentations. Yellow nail syndrome is a rare medical syndrome characterized by the combination of a triad of yellow nails, recurrent pulmonary manifestations, and lymphedema. All three features of the triad may not be present synchronously. The diagnosis is made clinically once other causes have been excluded. Typically, it occurs in individuals who are 50 years old and above. We report a case of yellow nail syndrome in a 62-year-old male who presented with recurrent episodes of difficulty breathing due to pleural effusion. Further examination revealed pitting edema of the bilateral lower extremities. In the later encounter, his nail was found to be yellowish. Excluding other diagnoses like heart failure, fungal infections, autoimmune diseases, and lung cancer, with a typical triad, a diagnosis of yellow nail syndrome was made. He was managed with pleural fluid tapping for pleural effusion, compression stockings for leg edema, and vitamin E for nail changes. Pancreaticopleural fistula (PPF) is a rare complication of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic pseudocyst. It can present as recurrent pleural effusions and can be difficult to diagnose and treat. We present the case of a 37-year-old male with a history of chronic idiopathic pancreatitis complicated by a pseudocyst who came in with progressive dyspnea, cough, and pleuritic chest pain. The chest X-ray on presentation showed near-complete opacification of the left hemithorax, suggesting a large pleural effusion. Upon thoracentesis, black-bloody fluid was drained, and the pleural fluid analysis was consistent with an exudate with significantly elevated levels of amylase, lipase, and bilirubin. Cytology revealed abundant lipofuscin-laden macrophages, suggesting an intra-abdominal source of the accumulated fluid. A post-drainage CT of the chest showed the resolution of the pleural effusion and an interval decrease in the pancreatic pseudocyst size, indicating a fistulous connection to the pleural space. An endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) was performed with efforts to perform cystogastrostomy aspiration that was hindered by the interference of splenic vasculature obstructing the needle's path. The patient was transferred to another facility for definitive treatment with surgical pancreatectomy and auto islet cell transplant. This case underscores the importance of considering PPF as a possible diagnosis, especially in cases of recurrent pleural effusions and a history of pancreatitis and pancreatic pseudocyst. This is the first case report of a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat ketogenic diet for the treatment of chylothorax. A 61-year-old female with recurrent chylothorax following thoracic surgery was refractory to a very low-fat diet managed by a hospital dietitian. She required repeated palliative thoracentesis to the point where she was scheduled for a thoracic duct embolization. Prior to the embolization, she was placed on a very low-carbohydrate (<20 total grams daily), high-fat, ketogenic diet. Metabolic markers and imaging were obtained regularly. The patient had improvements in her serum triglycerides, triglyceride/HDL ratio, and triglyceride-glucose index, as well as clinical and radiographic improvements in her chylothorax as assessed by a chest X-ray and CT scan. Within three months of starting her ketogenic diet, imaging revealed complete resolution of the chylous pleural effusion. This case suggests that metabolic optimization to decrease insulin resistance, improve chylomicron metabolism, decrease lymphatic permeability, and lower serum triglycerides, as occurs with a ketogenic diet, should be considered for conservative treatment of chylothorax and warrants further study., Competing Interests: Human subjects: Consent was obtained or waived by all participants in this study. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, multisystem autoimmune disease that can manifest in older individuals, presenting unique diagnostic challenges because of its atypical presentations and comorbidities. Pleural effusion is a relatively uncommon manifestation of SLE, with studies suggesting a higher prevalence in older than younger patients. We herein report an atypical case of delayed-onset SLE in a 75-year-old man with left-sided pleural effusion as the initial presentation. This case underscores the difficulty of diagnosing SLE in patients of advanced age and the importance of considering a broad range of differential diagnoses, even in cases that may suggest a more common disease. Cirrhosis is a common liver condition caused by several etiologies including alcohol use disorder, infectious hepatitis, and metabolic dysfunction associated with liver disease. Although common symptomatic complications of cirrhosis include malaise, gastrointestinal bleeding, and abdominal distension, shortness of breath is a less common phenomenon that may occur. Hepatic hydrothorax (HH) is an uncommon cause of shortness of breath that is believed to be caused by the accumulation of ascitic fluid in the pleural space. Chylothorax is a severe complication following the Fontan procedure, causing significant morbidity and mortality due to nutritional depletion and fluid loss. We present a case involving a six-year-old girl with tricuspid atresia, atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and severe pulmonary stenosis (PS), presenting with fever, non-productive cough, and increased work of breathing. Cyanosis was noted, improving with oxygen. Imaging revealed bilateral pleural effusion, with pleural fluid analysis confirming chylothorax. Despite normal laboratory reports, retrograde transvenous lymphangiography indicated thoracic duct leakage. The patient underwent successful thoracic duct embolization, resulting in the resolution of the effusion and stabilization of her condition. Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare, multisystemic, histiocytic disorder that usually presents with painless cervical lymphadenopathy. We describe a case of constrictive effusive pericarditis with congestive cardiac failure in a six-year-old child as an initial presentation of RDD. The child underwent pericardiectomy and was treated with steroids, following which the symptoms resolved entirely. While tuberculosis accounts for the majority of cases presenting with constrictive pericarditis in developing countries, the presentation of RDD can be easily missed if not kept in mind as a possibility. An abnormal buildup of pleural fluid, known as a pleural effusion, results from an imbalance between excessive formation and absorption. Despite the wide range of pleural effusion causes, including pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and cancer, the majority of cases are attributed to pleural fluid buildup. Acute pancreatitis also leads to complications such as systemic inflammatory response syndrome. A complex pathophysiologic reaction to a range of wounds, including trauma and infections, burns, and pancreatitis, is known as systemic inflammatory response syndrome. It was recognized that a variety of injuries exhibited a similar inflammatory response, making them prime candidates for new anti-inflammatory molecules designed to stop the spread of inflammation or provide targeted therapy. Localized inflammation, a protective response that the body regulates at the site of the injury, can, if lost or overly activated, result in a heightened systemic response known as systemic inflammatory response syndrome. The patient is a 19-year-old female who arrived at Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital with complaints of abdominal pain for eight days, abdominal distension for three to four days, breathing difficulty for three to four days, and fever. According to the patient's condition, she was unable to perform normal activities of daily living for eight days. She had breathlessness for eight days, which worsened four days ago. She was diagnosed with pleural effusion, acute pancreatitis, and systemic inflammatory response syndrome. This case is unique as the patient is very young and she has multiple health issues such as severe pancreatitis, ischemic heart disease, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, pulmonary consolidation, and pleural effusion at the same time which makes this condition critical. This study aimed to identify the improvement in this patient after getting physiotherapy treatment. Physiotherapy treatment included lifestyle modifications to reduce weight, performing exercise on a daily basis, breathing exercises airway clearance technique, volumetric incentive spirometer segmental expansion, inspiratory muscle training, chest mobilization, chest proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and graded mobilization to improve patient condition. Pleural effusion, characterized by the accumulation of fluid between the parietal and visceral pleura, presents significant challenges in patient management, particularly in cases of malignant pleural effusion. Despite various therapeutic options, there is a need to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions specifically for pleural effusion patients, as current literature predominantly focuses on medical and surgical treatments. This comprehensive review aims to address this research gap by systematically analyzing the impact of physiotherapy on pleural effusion management, with a focus on symptom relief and improvement in quality of life. The objective is to determine the role of physiotherapy in reducing hospital stay and enhancing patient outcomes. Methodologically, this review synthesizes data from clinical studies and case reports that document physiotherapy interventions, such as breathing exercises, postural drainage, and mobilization techniques, in the treatment of pleural effusion. Our findings suggest that physiotherapy interventions can significantly alleviate dyspnoea and improve respiratory function, contributing to better overall patient outcomes. Introduction Dengue fever, caused by the dengue virus transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, is a significant public health concern globally. Its resurgence in recent years, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, has led to increased morbidity and mortality rates. Atypical manifestations, involving the cardiac, liver, gut, renal, blood, bone, nervous, and respiratory systems, in dengue, can complicate both diagnosis and management. This study aimed to investigate the incidence of lung manifestations in dengue-infected individuals and their correlation with patient outcomes. Background The prevalence of dengue fever has risen dramatically over the past two decades, with Asia bearing the brunt of the burden, particularly India. The pathophysiology of lung complications in dengue remains unclear but is thought to be related to capillary leak syndrome and thrombocytopenia. Studies suggest that respiratory symptoms may be associated with severe cases and increased mortality rates. Despite limited research in India, understanding lung manifestations in dengue is crucial for improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care. Methods A retrospective study was conducted at K.S. Hegde Hospital, a tertiary care facility located in Mangalore, India, involving patients aged 18 years and above diagnosed with dengue fever between January and December 2019. Data gathered comprised patient demographics, clinical symptoms, laboratory findings, imaging results including radiographs, computed tomography (CT) scans of the chest (if accessible), ultrasound examinations of the chest and abdomen, and 2D echocardiograms, as well as patient outcomes. Diagnosis of lung manifestation was established through clinical assessment, chest X-ray interpretation, and ultrasound of the chest. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS Statistics (version 20), with a significance set at p<0.05. Results Out of 255 dengue cases, 10.19% (n=26) exhibited pulmonary manifestations, with pleural effusion being the most common. Older age (>50 years) and comorbidities were associated with a higher incidence of lung involvement. Respiratory symptoms, such as breathlessness, were more prevalent in patients with pulmonary complications. Laboratory parameters indicated distinct profiles in patients with lung manifestations, including elevated total count, urea, bilirubin, and liver enzymes, and reduced platelet counts. Mortality rates were higher in patients with lung involvement, older age, and comorbidities. Discussion The study findings highlight the importance of recognizing respiratory symptoms in dengue fever, particularly in older patients and those with underlying health conditions. The association between pulmonary involvement and adverse outcomes underscores the need for early detection and appropriate management strategies. Future research should focus on elucidating the pathophysiology of lung complications in dengue and developing targeted interventions to improve patient outcomes. Conclusion Lung manifestations in dengue fever represent a significant clinical challenge and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Early recognition of respiratory symptoms, along with prompt diagnostic evaluation and appropriate management, is essential for improving patient prognosis. Congenital chylothorax is the most common form of pleural effusion during the neonatal period; however, no treatment strategy exists. The pathogenesis and etiology of this disease are not fully understood; hence, several cases are difficult to treat. Some patients with chylothorax may not survive due to severe respiratory distress. Prednisolone (PSL) is sometimes used to treat congenital chylothorax but is rarely used in the early postnatal period. In this report, we describe a neonate with prenatal pleural effusion who was successfully treated with PSL from day one after requiring endotracheal intubation and ventilator management due to a postnatal diagnosis of chylothorax. The patient was extubated at four days of age, weaned from the ventilator at 10 days of age, and discharged home at 40 days of age after a total of 10 days of administration. Although the mechanism of action of PSL in chylothorax is unknown, and because it is a steroid, side effects such as gastrointestinal perforation and susceptibility to infection should be noted. The significance of Streptococcus intermedius in infectious diseases, especially pleural infections, is gaining recognition. While traditional risk factors like dental procedures and immunosuppression remain pivotal in differential diagnosis, there is an emerging recognition of unconventional clinical presentations and risk factors linked to infections by S. intermedius . This shift compels medical professionals to broaden their diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, underscoring the intricate and evolving nature of managing infections associated with this opportunistic bacterium. We describe the case of a 48-year-old immunocompetent woman with untreated hypertension who experienced a 15-day episode of right-sided chest pain, which worsened with a sudden onset of dyspnea, yet her daily activities remained unaffected. Physical examination suggested a pleuropulmonary syndrome due to significant pleural effusion, with a computed tomography (CT) scan of the lungs revealing about 50% effusion on the right side. Laboratory tests indicated elevated inflammatory markers. Ultrasound-guided thoracentesis extracted purulent fluid compatible with empyema, necessitating the placement of a pleural drain and multiple pleural cavity lavages using alteplase, which led to the removal of substantial infected fluid. Culture of the pleural fluid identified S. intermedius , which was pansusceptible. Treatment with intravenous ceftriaxone was administered, resulting in a favorable clinical outcome. Pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) and hepatitis A are common in developing countries. As there is an overlap of clinical features, a diagnosis of dual infection can be missed. Here, we present the case of a five-year-old male who presented with abdominal pain, fever, and jaundice diagnosed as a complicated liver abscess with concurrent hepatitis A. To our knowledge, this is the first case where a PLA co-existed with hepatitis A. Simultaneous infection should be considered when a patient with liver abscess presents with jaundice, especially in areas where both diseases are endemic. Cryptococcosis, primarily an opportunistic infection, often occurs in immunocompromised patients but can also affect immunocompetent individuals. Cryptococcosis typically manifests in the lungs, but pleurisy is rare, particularly in immunocompetent patients. This report details a case of cryptococcal pleuritis in a 74-year-old immunocompetent male with a history of heart failure, presenting initially with pleural effusion. Diagnostic challenges arose due to the initial absence of intrapulmonary lesions. The diagnosis was eventually established through a surgical biopsy and tissue culture, revealing Cryptococcus neoformans . The development of pleural effusion in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is not well-understood and rarely documented in literature. Extramedullary involvement (EMI), which occurs in about 10% of CML cases, typically affects lymph nodes and the spleen. Instances of extensive infiltration of leukemic cells into the pleura are infrequently reported in CML. Here, we report a case of 41-year-old man experiencing significant bilateral pleural effusion with leukemic infiltration during the blast crisis (BC) phase of refractory CML. Examination of the pleural fluid revealed cells with morphological characteristics of myeloblasts. Introduction: Tube thoracostomy (TT) complications are common in respiratory medicine. However, the prevalence of complications and risk factors is unknown, and data on countermeasures are lacking., Methods: This was a mixed-methods retrospective observational and qualitative study. This retrospective observational study included TT performed on patients admitted to the Department of Respiratory Medicine at our University Hospital between January 1, 2019, and August 31, 2022 (n=169). The primary endpoint was the incidence of TT-related complications. We reviewed the association between complications and patient- and medical-related factors as secondary endpoints. In this qualitative study, we theorized the background of physicians' susceptibility to TT-related complications based on the grounded theory approach., Results:  Complications were observed in 20 (11.8%) of the 169 procedures; however, they were unrelated to 30-day mortality. Poor activities of daily living (odds ratio 4.3, p=0.007) and regular administration of oral steroids (odds ratio 3.1, p=0.025) were identified as patient-related risk factors. Physicians undergoing training caused the most complications, and the absence of a senior physician at the procedure site (odds ratio 3.5, p=0.031) was identified as a medical risk factor. Based on this qualitative study, we developed a new model for TT complication rates consistent with the relationship between physicians' professional skills, professional identity, and work environments., Conclusions: Complications associated with TT are common. Therefore, it is necessary to implement measures similar to those identified in this study. Pleural effusions cause breathlessness, decreased activity levels, and impaired quality of life. Clinical trials of drainage of pleural effusion use patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to assess these variables. This systematic review aimed to identify which PROMs have been used in clinical trials in pleural effusions, what variables were assessed, whether they were responsive to pleural interventions, and whether they have been validated in patients with pleural effusions, including a defined minimal clinically important difference (MCID). A systematic review was performed to identify relevant clinical trials from Medline, EMBASE, Emcare, and CINAHL and data were extracted. From 329 abstracts, 29 clinical trials of pleural effusion drainage that used PROMs as an outcome measure were identified. A total of 16 different PROMs were used. The most used PROMs were unidimensional measurements of breathlessness, particularly the visual analogue scale for dyspnoea (VASD), all of which nearly showed improvements in breathlessness following pleural fluid drainage. Other variables commonly assessed included activity levels and health-related quality of life. Multidimensional PROMs showed inconsistent responsiveness to pleural fluid drainage. Only the VASD was validated in this patient group with a defined MCID. A range of PROMs are used in clinical trials of pleural fluid drainage. No single PROM measures all the outcomes of interest. Unidimensional measurements of breathlessness are responsive to pleural fluid drainage. Only the VASD is validated with an MCID.
