Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy or "broken heart syndrome," is a rare and reversible condition characterized by transient left ventricular dysfunction. It is typically triggered by acute emotional or physical stressors. Here, we present a unique case of TCM occurring in a 77-year-old woman following cardioversion for persistent and symptomatic atrial fibrillation. The patient underwent uncomplicated cardioversion with recent imaging showing intact global systolic function. She presented four days post-procedure for chest pain, shortness of breath, and peripheral edema. A repeat echocardiogram showed a marked decrease in cardiac function evidenced by an ejection fraction of 20-25%. The patient was readmitted and managed with IV diuretics. Appendectomy ranks among the most common surgical procedures. Laparoscopic appendectomy has become increasingly popular among certain surgeons. Even laparoscopic appendectomy is considered the gold standard; many surgical subspecialties have adopted robotic surgery in the past 10 years. The robotic system is recognized for enhancing stability, visualization, precision, and spatial flexibility. Surgeons can operate with enhanced dexterity, reduced tremors, three-dimensional visualization, up to 10 times magnification, and control over four arms thanks to improved ergonomics that allow them to sit at a customizable console. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the overall effects, such as intraoperative time, postoperative recovery, feasibility for surgeons, and cost-effectiveness, of robotic-assisted appendectomy and laparoscopic appendectomy through the available literature. It was found that both robotic and laparoscopic surgeries work well for appendectomy, but in some studies, it was found that robotic surgery comes with the perks of shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery, even though it is more expensive, and in some studies, no differences were observed in patient recovery postoperatively. Laparoscopic surgery is still a highly effective and commonly used method, with proven advantages over open appendectomy, despite taking longer for the procedure. Parotid gland is the largest salivary gland of the body. Pleomorphic adenomas are the most prevalent benign parotid gland tumors. They can eventually grow to a size where they weigh several kilograms if not timely addressed. The 'pleomorphic' characteristics are attributed to the origin of the tumor from the connective tissue and epithelium. Pleomorphic adenomas often arise from the superficial lobe, further extending into the parapharyngeal space and gland's other deeper tissues. Common incidence is noted in females between 30 and 50 years. Tumors typically present as asymptomatic swelling and progress slowly. The cornerstone of treatment is surgical removal of the tumor mass, with great care being given to protect the facial nerve. Most of these tumors are observed with the involvement of the superficial lobe; only a few are observed involving the deep lobe. This case report presents an intriguing case of a pleomorphic adenoma of superficial and deep parotid gland in a 65-year-old male. The left side of the patient's face had a steadily increasing, asymptomatic swelling on admission. Magnetic resonance imaging of the neck revealed a pleomorphic adenoma of the superficial and deep parotid gland. Acute pancreatitis is a dynamic inflammatory condition of the pancreas with a spectrum ranging from mild to severe. Early and accurate assessment of disease severity is crucial for guiding clinical management and improving patient outcomes. This comprehensive review explores the role of radiological and biochemical parameters in assessing the severity of acute pancreatitis. Radiological imaging modalities, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound (US), play a pivotal role in identifying key features, such as pancreatic necrosis and peripancreatic fluid collections, indicative of severe disease. Additionally, serum markers such as amylase, lipase, and C-reactive protein (CRP) provide valuable prognostic information and aid in risk stratification. Integrating radiological and biochemical parameters allows for a multidimensional evaluation of disease severity, enabling clinicians to make informed decisions regarding patient management. Cerebral mycotic aneurysms (CMA) are a rare consequence of infective endocarditis (IE). We report a case of a 75-year-old left-handed male with comorbidities who was admitted to our facility with left-sided weakness, dysarthria, and left-sided facial droop. Initial computed tomography of the head without contrast and angiography of the head showed acute hemorrhage in the paramedian right frontal lobe with extension into the right lateral ventricle, occlusion of the left intracranial internal carotid artery, and an associated 0.3 cm aneurysm involving the distal right anterior cerebral artery. C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were elevated but blood cultures showed no growth for more than five days. The patient underwent a two-vessel cerebral angiogram, primary coil embolization of the aneurysm, and selective catheterization of the left common carotid artery, right internal carotid artery, and right anterior cerebral artery. Transesophageal echocardiography showed an echogenic, highly mobile structure attached to the aortic valve suggestive of vegetation. The patient was subsequently started on a vancomycin regimen and stably discharged for further outpatient follow-up. Cholecystectomy is commonly performed to address gallstone diseases, including the development of gallstones, which can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Bile acids (BAs) produced by the liver are primarily stored and concentrated in the gallbladder (GB). After cholecystectomy, the body's ability to digest lipids is reduced due to the absence of the GB. Post-cholecystectomy syndrome (PCS) can occur when abdominal symptoms manifest after surgery. The purpose of this review is to look at the various effects of different dietary factors on patients undergoing cholecystectomy, how they affect their overall health after surgery, and how they contribute to symptoms of PCS. Some individuals may experience mild discomfort or alterations in bowel patterns, especially after consuming high-fat meals. The findings from the conducted studies suggest that, although dietary changes are a common recommendation, these measures are not sufficiently supported by evidence when it comes to alleviating symptoms and improving outcomes post-cholecystectomy. The studies found that subjects who consumed particular foods, such as processed meat and fried fatty foods, had exacerbated symptoms after cholecystectomy. Introduction Among young male adults, sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus disease (SPSD) is a prevalent condition. There are several possibilities for treatment, including both conservative and surgical methods. Medical supervision or conservative management is not the cutting-edge and preferred management nowadays. Although not fatal, it negatively impacts young people's quality of life in terms of schooling and means of subsistence and is socially awkward. Method About 10 individuals in this case series have serous drainage from the sinus in the sacral region, which is a common symptom. The patients were entitled to a full recovery from their illness. In all these patients, the Limberg flap procedure was recommended, and just one patient out of 10 had a minimal infection. Every patient was satisfied with how the surgery turned out. Overall, the Limberg flap (rhomboid flap) approach is becoming the norm for care since it has a lower rate of recurrence, fewer postoperative problems, and a shorter learning curve. Result Flap necrosis instances were absent in all the cases. And out of 10 cases, one patient came with a surgical site infection during the follow-up, suggesting a complication rate of 10%. Conclusion For the treatment of primary pilonidal illness, rhomboid excision utilising the Limberg transpositional fasciocutaneous flap technique is seen as a safer option that encompasses numerous sinuses. Background  The study aims to assess the association of apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene polymorphisms with serological lipid and inflammatory markers to determine their potential role in predicting the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).  Methodology  A total of 915 individuals underwent testing for lipid and inflammatory biomarkers at Vibrant America Clinical Laboratory. Clinical data, blood lipid and inflammatory profiles, and APOE genotyping were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).  Results Compared to the E3/E3 genotype, individuals with E2/E3 genotypes showed higher levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), triglycerides, apolipoprotein A (APOA), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and myeloperoxidase (MPO). E2/E4 genotype carriers had higher levels of HDL, triglycerides, Lp(a), and N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide (BNPNT). E3/E4 genotypes were associated with elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL, Lp(a), hs-CRP, small-density low-density lipoprotein (SDLDL), oxidized LDL (OXLDL), MPO, LDL-CAL, PLAC, and APOB. The E4/E4 group displayed higher concentrations of total cholesterol, LDL, APOB, Lp(a), hs-CRP, SDLDL, OXLDL, MPO, LDLCAL, and PLAC compared to E3/E3 carriers. These findings highlight the potential atherogenic effect of the ε4 allele and the protective effect of the ε2 allele based on lipid and inflammatory marker profiles.  Conclusions This study provides strong evidence linking APOE gene polymorphism to abnormal serum lipid and inflammatory profiles. Individuals carrying the ε4 alleles exhibited dysregulated lipid metabolism and abnormal inflammatory markers, increasing their risk of CVD and AD. Ascariasis is one of the most common parasitic infections in the world. It is mostly asymptomatic; however, rarely when the worms migrate to the biliary tract, they can cause biliary ascariasis. It typically presents with pain abdomen, jaundice, and fever. This case report is about a patient who presented with fever, icterus, breathlessness, loose stools, and altered sensorium but had no abdominal pain. The patient was diagnosed with biliary ascariasis using ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The patient was treated with endoscopic sphincterotomy and albendazole. The patient remained stable after 10 days. The torsion of a dilated sigmoid colon around its own mesenteric axis is the cause of sigmoid volvulus, which frequently results in constipation and intestinal obstruction. The clinical presentation of sigmoid volvulus can be observed as nausea, constipation, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain. It is also reported to be insidious. Additionally, it causes blood obstruction, resulting in necrosis, bowel ischemia, and even intestinal perforation if not addressed on time. Physical symptoms might vary depending on the course of the disease but are usually observed as the classical trio of abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and constipation. Computed tomography imaging presents the sign of an inverted U, or classic coffee bean, aiding in the diagnosis of the sigmoid volvulus. A 38-year-old male was admitted to the emergency department of our tertiary care center with significant complaints of obstipation and abdominal pain. The medical history and physical examination revealed peritoneal symptoms, which warranted a prompt radiological imaging diagnosis. The patient was subjected to computed tomography, which was suggestive of sigmoid volvulus. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is still a serious global health issue that has a substantial impact on death and illness rates. Background Of liver-related disorders, cirrhosis is currently the leading cause of death and has become a significant global public health concern. Aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI), a newer prognostic modality, is a very effective noninvasive diagnostic for identifying advanced liver fibrosis. Methods A prospective observational study was conducted among individuals with liver disease, 100 cases and 100 controls for two years. All the sociodemographic details, clinical features of the patients, and clinical findings such as prothrombin time (PT), liver function tests, kidney function tests, and total blood count were recorded using a pretested semi-structured questionnaire. Results According to our survey results, 48% of the participants were between the ages of 40 and 60. Regarding aPTT (activated partial thromboplastin time) and liver function test characteristics (serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase(SGOT), serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT)), we showed a substantial difference between the patients and controls. Regarding the APRI distribution, we also found a statistically significant variation between the research groups. When we compared the validity of APRI scores in diagnosing cirrhosis, we discovered that the ideal cutoff value of APRI was determined to be 3.99, with sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of 33%, 86%, 70%, and 56%, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for APRI in detecting cirrhosis was also 0.693. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia, affecting approximately 6.1 million people worldwide, according to estimates from the Parkinson's Foundation. Early and accurate diagnosis of PD is crucial for effective management and treatment. In this study, we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of distinguishing between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of individuals with PD and those without PD. A total of 442 MRI scans were utilized for training the AI model, comprising 221 scans of individuals diagnosed with PD and 221 scans of healthy controls. The dataset, obtained from a publicly available image dataset on Kaggle.com, was randomly split into three sets: training, validation, and testing, with 80%, 10%, and 10% of the data allocated to each set, respectively. Leveraging Google's Collaboration platform for model training, the AI model achieved exceptional performance, with accuracy, precision, recall (sensitivity), specificity, and F1-score all measuring at high levels. Additionally, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for the model was found to be 1, indicating strong discrimination between PD and non-PD cases. Actinic keratosis (AK) and seborrheic keratosis (SK) represent prevalent dermatological conditions with distinct clinical characteristics and potential health implications. This article investigates recent strides in dermatological diagnostics, centered on the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for discerning between AK and SK. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate an artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of accurately distinguishing between stage one and stage two gastric carcinoma based on pathology slides. Employing a dataset of high-resolution images obtained from Kaggle.com, consisting of 1000 AK and 1000 SK images, a novel AI model was trained using cutting-edge deep learning methodologies. The dataset underwent meticulous partitioning into training, validation, and testing subsets to ensure robustness and generalizability. The AI model showcased exceptional proficiency in distinguishing AK from SK images, attaining notable levels of accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, F1-score, and area under the curve (AUC). This study showcases a novel AI-driven approach to accurately differentiate between stage one and stage two gastric carcinoma based on pathology slide analysis. Gastric carcinoma, a significant contributor to cancer-related mortality globally, necessitates precise staging for optimal treatment planning and patient management. Leveraging a comprehensive dataset of 3540 high-resolution pathology images sourced from Kaggle.com, comprising an equal distribution of stage one and stage two tumors, the developed AI model demonstrates remarkable performance in tumor staging. Through the application of state-of-the-art deep learning techniques on Google's Collaboration platform, the model achieves outstanding accuracy and precision rates of 100%, accompanied by notable sensitivity (97.09%), specificity (100%), and F1-score (98.31%). Additionally, the model exhibits an impressive area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.999, indicating superior discriminatory power and robustness. By providing clinicians with an efficient and reliable tool for gastric carcinoma staging, this AI-driven approach has the potential to significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy, inform treatment decisions, and ultimately improve patient outcomes in the management of gastric carcinoma. This study presents an innovative application of artificial intelligence (AI) in distinguishing dermoscopy images depicting individuals with benign and malignant skin lesions. Leveraging the collaborative capabilities of Google's platform, the developed model exhibits remarkable efficiency in achieving accurate diagnoses. The model underwent training for a mere one hour and 33 minutes, utilizing Google's servers to render the process both cost-free and carbon-neutral. Utilizing a dataset representative of both benign and malignant cases, the AI model demonstrated commendable performance metrics. Notably, the model achieved an overall accuracy, precision, recall (sensitivity), specificity, and F1 score of 92%. These metrics underscore the model's proficiency in distinguishing between benign and malignant skin lesions. Introduction Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmune disease affecting radicles and peripheral nerves resulting in acute flaccid paralysis. Respiratory failure, autonomic dysfunction, and secondary complications such as pneumonia, and venous thromboembolism are the major causes of death and disability in GBS. Cardiovascular complications play a major role in the prognosis of GBS patients. The aim is to determine the incidence of cardiovascular instability in GBS patients and to see if there are any specific risk groups associated with the development of cardiovascular instability. Methodology This is a retrospective descriptive study conducted in a tertiary care center in South India. Data on 50 consecutive GBS patients were collected from hospital records including case sheets, death summaries, and discharge summaries. Patients with evidence of sepsis, blood loss, heavy alcohol consumption, and chronic liver disease were excluded from the study. Baseline demographic data, symptom onset to admission time, baseline Erasmus Guillain-Barré Syndrome Respiratory Insufficiency Score (EGRIS), and baseline liver function tests were documented. The presence of heart rate and blood pressure fluctuations was noted from the records. Frequency data were calculated from the categorical variables. Analysis of non-parametric variables by chi-square test was done using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 25.0 (Released 2017; IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, United States). Results Cardiovascular instability was present in 15 (30%) patients in the study population. It was present in all patients (100%) who require mechanical ventilation. The incidence of cardiovascular instability was higher in patients who had lesser onset to admission times (41.9% vs 10.5%; p=0.019), EGRIS≥4 (40.6% vs 11.1%; p=0.029), and lower cranial nerve involvement (40% vs 6.7%; p=0.018). Conclusion Of patients with GBS, 30% developed cardiovascular instability during their disease course. Background: Patients with cirrhosis are susceptible to infections, especially by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). There are limited data on the incidence of culture-positive infections and the validity of Sepsis 3-criteria in patients with cirrhosis admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in India, which we aimed to assess., Methods: In this prospective study, we included consecutive patients with cirrhosis admitted to the ICU between November 1, 2021, and April 30, 2022. The primary objective was to compare the outcomes of patients with microbiologically proven infections with those without proven infections. The secondary objective was to assess the predictors of infections and mortality and the impact of drug-resistant organisms., Results: A total of 298 patients (9.4% women) were included. The incidence of microbiologically proven infection was 34% (101/298; 95%CI=27.6-41.2). Most patients (61%) had healthcare-associated infections, Gram-negative organisms accounted for 75.3%, and bacteremia was the commonest site. Drug-resistant organisms accounted for 52.5% (53/101; 95%CI=39.3-68.7), of which 39.6% were multidrug-resistant (MDR) and 12.8% were extensively drug-resistant (XDR). Mortality was significantly higher in patients with proven infections than those without (61.4% vs. 44.2%; P=0.007). The sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score (OR=1.91; 95%CI=1.04-3.52; P<0.001) and presence of fever and/or positive quick SOFA (qSOFA; OR=1.91;1.04-3.52; P=0.03) were associated with an increased risk of infections. The SOFA score (OR=1.06;95%CI=1.002-1.12; P=0.04), MELD NA score (OR=1.08;95%CI=1.05-1.12; P<0.001), and presence of fever and/or positive qSOFA (OR=2.19; 95%CI=1.27-3.76; P=0.005) predicted mortality., Conclusions: One-third of the patients with cirrhosis admitted to the ICU had microbiologically proven infection, and the mortality rate in such patients was high. Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a hereditary cardiac disorder characterized by abnormal thickening of the left ventricular myocardium. This can lead to various clinical manifestations, including sudden death., Aim: To investigate the cardiac remodeling and functional changes in patients with HCM over a specific time period and explore the impact of different treatment regimens on disease progression., Methods: We conducted a prospective longitudinal observational study involving 100 patients diagnosed with HCM. Baseline clinical data, including demographics, medical history, and echocardiographic measurements, were collected. Follow-up assessments were performed at regular intervals over 24 months to track changes in cardiac structure, function, and clinical status. Statistical analysis, including paired t-tests and subgroup analysis, was conducted to identify significant associations and differences between treatment groups., Results: A total of 100 patients (mean age = 55 years, 50% male) were enrolled in the study. At baseline, echocardiography revealed increased left ventricular wall thickness (mean = 18.5 mm), left atrial dimensions (mean = 39 mm), and ventricular mass (mean = 230 g). During the follow-up period, there was a progressive increase in left ventricular wall thickness (mean change = 1.0 mm/year, p < 0.001), left atrial dimensions (mean change = 3.0 mm/year, p < 0.001), and ventricular mass (mean change = 8 g/year, p = 0.003). Additionally, alterations in diastolic and systolic function parameters were noted, with a decline in E/A ratio (mean change = -0.1 units/year, p = 0.008) and a reduction in ejection fraction (mean change = -2.0% per year, p = 0.001)., Conclusion: Our longitudinal observational study provides important insights into the cardiac remodeling and functional changes in patients with HCM over time. The progressive increase in cardiac parameters indicates ongoing disease progression. Additionally, beta-blocker therapy was associated with a slower rate of left ventricular wall thickening. Introduction The radial bone and the radioulnar joint are vital for the physiological and physical stability of the elbow. The prostheses and plates used in cases of radius fracture are designed based on the morphology of the Western population. This could result in a bone-implant mismatch when applied to the Indian population, resulting in complications. Hence, the study aimed to record the normal values of radius morphology in the Indian population. Methods A total of 30 (eight male and seven female) freshly frozen cadaveric bilateral upper limbs were chosen. Cadavers with previous surgical scars, deformities, and congenital defects of the upper limb were excluded. The radius was excised, and morphometric parameters were measured with a non-elastic measuring tape and a digital caliper and recorded using GeoGebra software. Results All measuring parameters exhibited no significant difference between the right and left side of the bone (p > 0.05), whereas the difference between males and females for most parameters was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The mean difference between the anteroposterior (AP) diameter and transverse diameter of the radial head for the study sample was 0.89 ± 0.06 mm. Thus, the AP diameter was 4% greater than the transverse diameter. The head of the radius was observed to be almost round. The degree of extent of the safe zone was 124.64°, with an average safe arc length of 3.27 ± 0.55 cm. Objective: We aim to find the time in which a thawed citrate plasma sample that was preserved can be analyzed for routine coagulation testing without losing precision., Methods: Whole blood samples from 30 healthy volunteers were collected in 3.2% sodium citrate vacutainer and centrifuged to separate platelet-poor plasma. Each sample was then aliquoted, one aliquot was used immediately for prothrombin time (PT)-international normalized ratio (INR) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), four were stored at -20°C, and four were stored at -80°C for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the aliquots were taken out and thawed at 37°C in water bath and analyzed after 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes., Statistical Analysis: Data were presented as mean with standard deviation (SD). Repeated measures ANOVA with Tukey post-hoc test was performed for multiple comparisons. All analysis was done using GraphPAD Prism 8.0 software (GraphPad Software, San Diego, California, USA).  Results: In the case of PT and INR, no statistically significant difference was found between the mean values after thawing for 120 minutes when compared with the mean baseline value. However, the APTT showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.0232) after 30 minutes of thawing when the sample was stored at -20°C. Furthermore, a statistically significance difference (p = 0.0001) was found after 60 minutes of thawing when the samples were stored at -80°C., Conclusion: Plasma samples for the PT and INR may be accepted for assessment up to 120 minutes, when stored at -20°C and -80°C for 24 hours. A systematic review was conducted to investigate the relationship between aminotransferases and the severity of dengue infection, which is a prevalent and significant infection in tropical and subtropical regions. Aminotransferases are enzymes that are often elevated in dengue due to the liver's physiological and immunological response to the infection. This review focused on analyzing various studies that examined the correlation between aminotransferase levels and the severity of dengue. Extensive literature searches were performed using ("dengue*" OR "dengue fever*" OR "dengue haemorrhagic fever*" OR "dengue shock syndrome*") AND ("alanine aminotransferase*" OR "aspartate aminotransferase*") on PubMed. The selected articles were thoroughly reviewed, encompassing epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of dengue. The consistent findings across the studies indicated that aminotransferases can serve as predictive markers for dengue severity. Introduction: The WHO has recognised iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) as the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, with 30% of the population being affected by this condition. The patient's glycemic status during the past three months is shown by the glycated haemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) test. According to several studies, iron deficiency can increase HbA1C levels without affecting blood sugar levels. HbA1C levels of ≥ 6.5% have been approved by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a diagnostic indicator for diabetes mellitus (DM). An imbalance in serum electrolyte levels and anaemia have been linked by several studies.  Aim: To analyze the effect of iron deficiency anaemia on HbA1c levels and serum electrolytes in an adult non-diabetic population., Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in Shri BM Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Vijayapura, Karnataka, India from January 2021 to June 2022. A total of 65 moderate to severe normoglycemic iron deficiency anemia patients between 18 to 75 years were enrolled in the study after fulfilling inclusion and exclusion criteria. A detailed history, clinical and biochemical examination was performed including HbA1c levels. The results were pooled and statistical analyses were performed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA)., Results: We found elevated HbA1c levels (5.67±1.1%) in non-diabetic iron-deficient anaemia individuals, and elevation was more in women of reproductive age group (30.8%). There was a statistically significant Spearman negative correlation between hemoglobin and HbA1C levels. Also, 16 patients had hyponatremia with a mean haemoglobin (Hb) of 4.8 g/dL and one patient had hyperkalemia with a mean Hb of 3.2 g/dL which was statistically non-significant., Conclusion: In this study haemoglobin and HbA1c had a statistically significant positive correlation with serum sodium and a negative correlation with serum potassium in moderate to severely iron-deficient anaemic patients, especially females of the reproductive age group., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist., (Copyright © 2023, Patil et al.)

Influenza A virus (IAV), particularly the H3N2 variant, is known to cause respiratory manifestations, but it can also lead to neurological complications ranging from mild symptoms like headache and dizziness to severe conditions such as encephalitis and acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE). In this article, the correlation between the H3N2 variant of the IAV and neurological manifestations is discussed. Additionally, prompt recognition and treatment of influenza-associated neurological manifestations are highlighted to prevent infection-related long-term complications. There was tremendous increase in the number of cases of mucormycosis among patients affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the second wave of pandemic in South Asian countries. This invasive fungal infection primarily affects paranasal sinuses and can have orbito-facial and intracranial extension. We are presenting the radiological findings of invasive mucormycosis with pathological and clinical outcome correlation. It is important for radiologists to have the knowledge of various presentations of this opportunistic infection for early diagnosis and helping clinicians in planning the appropriate line of management. The study also emphasizes on the correlation between the extent of involvement with clinical outcome and we proposed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) based scoring system to standardize and prognosticate the patients affected with mucormycosis., Materials and Methods: We utilized GE 1.5 tesla, 16-channeled MRI machine for scanning the clinically suspected mucormycosis patients and did plain and contrast study of the paranasal sinuses, orbito-facial study and included brain as and when required. Images were acquired in axial, coronal, and sagittal planes using T1, T2, and fat-saturated short tau inversion recovery sequences (STIR), fat-saturated contrast sequences for better evaluation of the extent of the disease. Diffusion-weighted sequence was also acquired to detect ischemic changes in optic nerve or brain parenchyma. Contrast study was used to detect any major vessel occlusion or cavernous sinus thrombosis in the study population., Results: Total number of cases (n) included in the study were 32. The mean age group was 41-50 years with the median age was 47 years. Out of 32 cases (n=32), in 16 cases (50%) the disease was limited only to the paranasal sinuses and in remaining 16 (50%) cases, disease has spread to other regions such as orbits, facial soft tissues, optic nerve, and brain parenchyma. All the 18 cases with Mild score (MRI ROCM score 1-3) survived and all those with severe score (2 cases) (MRI ROCM score 7-10) did not survive., Conclusion: During the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, we observed a significant rise in acute invasive mucormycosis infection primarily involving the paranasal sinuses and spread to orbito-facial, cerebral parenchyma causing related complications and hence increased morbidity and death. Radiologically, using MRI, it was effectively possible to detect early extrasinonasal spread and other fatal complications thereby guiding the physicians and surgeons in the proper early aggressive management of the disease. Here, we have described the radiological characteristics of paranasal sinus mucormycosis and its spread to other regions. We also proposed an MRI-based Scoring System for standardized assessment of the disease severity. Background: Adolescence is the phase of rapid transition of the body. The requirement of all minerals and vitamins changes in this phase of life so does Vitamin D. Despite Vitamin D being abundantly available, its deficiency, which can cause innumerable side effects on the body, is extremely common among the general population.  Material and methods: The present study was a cross-sectional study carried out from January 2021 to July 2022 for two years at various government rural high schools in Kolar, Karnataka, India. All adolescents who were aged 11-18 years and studying in 9 th and 10 th standards were included in the study after consent and assent. Adolescent boys and girls with any pre-existing mental health illness were excluded from the study. To assess depression, Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI-II) was used. Vitamin D3 levels were assessed by using VITROS Immunodiagnostic products using a 25-OH Total reagent pack. All data were entered in a Microsoft Excel sheet (Redmond, USA) and analyzed using IBM Corp. Released 2013. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0. Armonk, NY: IBM Corp. To check for the association between factors, Chi-square was applied with a level of significance defined as a p-value less than 0.05., Results: Out of 451 students, 272 (60.3%) belonged to the 15-year age group, 224 (49.7%) were boys, 235 (52.1%) were studying in 10 th standard, 323 (71.6 %) belonged to nuclear families, 379 (84%) were non-vegetarian by diet, 222 (49.2%) had sun exposure in the afternoon, and 156 (34.6%) had a sun exposure of fewer than 60 minutes, 133 (29.5%) had severe depression according to Beck's Depression Inventory-II. One hundred sixty-two (35.9%) had insufficient Vitamin D3 levels (12-20 ng/ml), and 66 (14.6%) had deficient levels of Vitamin D3 (less than 12 ng/dl). There was a statistically significant association between depression and Vitamin D3 levels., Conclusion: There are innumerable causes of adolescent depression. The present study shows Vitamin D levels were statistically associated with depression among adolescents. Vitamin D supplementation of at least 600 international units, which is the recommended dietary allowance (RDA), could be beneficial in tackling Vitamin D to sufficiency status (20-100 ng/ml) and also indirectly address Adolescent Depression. Background In clinical practice, metastatic primary lung cancer, TB, and sarcoidosis are the commonest causes of mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Differentiation of malignant from benign causes is essential. The sonographic features seem to correlate with malignancy in head and neck, breast, and cervix cancers and can be used to predict the etiology of lesions. The objective of our study was to assess the utility of different ultrasonographic features in differentiating benign and malignant lymph nodes by endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA). Methods This is a prospective study analysis of all patients above 18 years presenting with mediastinal and hilar adenopathy on computed chest tomography with contrast, undergoing EBUS-TBNA for diagnosis. Lymph node ultrasonographic characteristics such as size, shape, echogenicity, margins, central hilar structure (CHS), and coagulation necrosis sign (CNS) were recorded and compared with histopathology. Results A total of 576 patients underwent the EBUS-TBNA procedure, and a total of 810 lymph nodes were evaluated. Three hundred and forty-eight patients (468 lymph nodes) were malignant; 228 patients (342 lymph nodes) were benign. Heterogeneous echotexture was significantly higher in malignant lymph nodes (<0.001). The multivariate analysis revealed that heterogeneous echotexture was an independent predictor for malignant etiology. Conclusion Heterogeneous echotexture of the lymph node on EBUS was predictive of malignancy. The main purpose of this systematic review was to identify and synthesize evidence about pulmonary complications following stem cell transplantation to raise awareness among physicians since it is a lesser-known topic. Studies that included targeted pulmonary complications that occurred after stem cell transplantation; in humans; and were randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and case studies between January 2011 and 2021. Fifteen intervention features were identified and analyzed in terms of their association with successful or unsuccessful interventions. Fifteen of 15 studies that met inclusion criteria had positive results. Features that appeared to have the most consistent positive effects included relevant information consisting of clinical presentations and management of complications.  Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is a therapeutic method that has been introduced for various hematological diseases. Its main objective is to restore the hematopoietic function that has been eradicated or affected. The stem cell transplantation requires a period of administration of chemotherapeutic agents that may lead to infectious and/or non-infectious pulmonary complications that require follow-up. Noninfectious pulmonary complications include bronchiolitis obliterans, alveolar hemorrhage, fibroelastosis, pulmonary hypertension, and infections. Bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome is an obstructive lung disease that affects the small airways, reducing lung function, and it's the most frequent late-onset complication. Furthermore, diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage is a fatal adverse effect and the most common noninfectious pulmonary complication of acute leukemia, observed within the first weeks after the procedure. Pulmonary hypertension has multiple etiologies, mainly related to the pulmonary veno-occlusive disease. It carries a poor prognosis, with a 55% mortality rate. Hyperthyroidism directly affects the cardiovascular system, altering the heart's normal function and leading to high cardiovascular mortality. Excess thyroid hormones are associated with significantly increased risk and prevalence of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation (AF). This article reviewed the hemodynamic changes and the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial and ventricular arrhythmias associated with hyperthyroidism. It has also discussed the multi-level pathophysiology of thyrotoxic AF, sinus tachycardia, and different treatment modalities such as anti-thyroid drugs, beta-blockers, and the role of cardioversion and catheter ablation. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune inflammatory illness that affects the central nervous system (CNS) when the body's immune system attacks its tissue. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic collection of symptoms and lowers the quality of life. The management of such patients has always involved mitigating the symptoms produced by this disorder. This article reviews the role of probiotics in IBS by compiling various studies to deduce the possible symptomatic relief that probiotics may provide to IBS patients. Given the encouraging part of probiotics in abundant other gastrointestinal conditions, this article focuses on understanding the specific functional effects (if any) that are brought about by adding probiotics in patients with different types of IBS such as IBS with predominant constipation, IBS with predominant diarrhea, and even the unclassified type of IBS. The purpose of analyzing the role of probiotics is to study the changes brought about by them at the level of the gut microbiota in patients suffering from IBS, as this may prove to be of prime importance in managing such conditions with time. Cancer is an immunosuppressive disorder with characteristic features of unchecked cell growth, invasion, and sometimes thromboembolism leading to multiple systemic sequelae, including infective endocarditis. This article has compiled some of the crucial mechanisms by which infective endocarditis occurs in cancer patients, its risk factors, and the existing treatment interventions. It has focused on the necessity of being aware that these multiple pathogeneses are involved in the development of infective endocarditis (IE) in cancer patients, which would help delineate the risk factors associated with the condition and help physicians screen better for specific red flags. Breast cancer (BC) is defined as an uncontrolled growth of breast cells that affected 2.3 million women in 2020 alone. Until a few years earlier, radiotherapy and chemotherapy were the most commonly used treatments in treating BC; however, many trials and studies were conducted to test the competence of cyclin-dependent kinases 4/6 (CDK4/6) in arresting the cell cycle, and it was found that they were highly influential in halting the disease from progressing. Palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib are the three drugs that have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are even more efficient when used in combination with aromatase inhibitors and fulvestrant. This article aimed to explain the effect of CDK4/6 inhibitors on tumor cells and their efficacy in combination with other drugs.
