OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical, epidemiological and mycological characteristics of the cases of tinea nigra treated at the Yucatan Dermatological Center. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, descriptive, retrospective study was carried out, in which the database of the Yucatan Dermatological Center was analyzed and included all patients with a diagnosis of tinea nigra treated since 2001 to 2022. RESULTS: Seventeen patients were counted, 10 female; the average age was 13 years old, and 14 of them were students. Hortaea werneckii was identified as the causative agent in 8 cases. CONCLUSIONS: Most of the patients were in the pediatric age group. The total number of patients registered only in the Yucatan Peninsula is a clear reflection of the endemic in the region, making our casuistry the largest for a relatively restricted geographical area.
