Abstract
The article examines the development of socialism in Kenya in the 1960s. The author explores the socioeconomic change that occurred during this time and discusses factors that proved to be influential in the country's development of African Socialism. Sessional Paper No. 10 from 1965, produced by Kenya's Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, coined this phrase and outlined the economic and social change the country envisioned. The author also explores the impact that political and economic freedom had on Kenya and the role that Cold War politics had on Kenya's development process.
