The present study investigated the teaching of Sociology in high school at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB) - Campus Sousa, highlighting the organization of the subject in the Pedagogical Project of courses integrated into high school, the contents taught and the adoption of pedagogical resources in teaching plans and class diaries. As a methodological proposal, a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out, through the analysis procedure of the Pedagogical Projects of Course (PPC's), the teaching plans of the discipline and the diaries of the professor of sociology. From the results, it is possible to perceive a concern with the contextualization of the contents, in order to establish connection with pedagogical resources that arouse the students' interest. On the other hand, it is perceived the need of the researched institution to transpose the interdisciplinarity of the paper to the classroom, as well as to encourage the willingness to work together between the disciplines. Equally, engage in the debate so that the discipline of Sociology can continue to be offered in basic education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
