Abstract

The article evaluates the evolutionary outcomes of harvest activities on mean length and age at maturity in chinook salmon population by coupling a genetic model with a Leslie life history matrix model. The response of this population in mean length and age depends on selection differentials imposed by harvest and on the genetic correlations between traits. The most abundant age in the high-seas fishery serves as the youngest age that are vulnerable to harvest compared to terminal area fishery.
