Ten years ago, the author of this article Publisher a book on the famous bust called the Dama de Elche; this book was immediately translated into Spanish. In that book, some 30 different, but complementary, reasons were presented to the reader to support the author's wholly new argument that de Dama de Elche--rather than being an authentic example of ancient Iberian sculpture, and one commonly dated by Spanish archeologists to around 450 BC--was (instead) created in 1897 AD. Besides giving a succinct account of those thirty theses arguing for the real status of the Dama de Elche as a modern art forgery, the author recounts his untiring efforts over the last ten years to induce Spanish authorities to apply a certain, standard tests and other means of specific analysis to the now-controversial bust in order to establish, and for once and for all, the real date of its manufacture: either «ancient» or «modern». It is hoped that publication of this article will finally force the Spanish authorities to perform those much needed tests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
