The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system is an important component of a building's energy consumption, and its primary function is to provide a comfortable thermal environment for occupants. Accurate prediction of occupant thermal comfort is essential for improving building energy utilization as well as health and work efficiency. Therefore, the development of accurate thermal comfort prediction models is of great value. Deep learning based on data-driven techniques has excellent potential for predicting thermal comfort due to the development of artificial intelligence. However, the inability to obtain large quantities of detailed thermal comfort labeling data from residents presents a substantial challenge to the modeling endeavor. This paper proposes a building-to-building transfer learning framework to make deep learning models applicable in data-limited interior building environments, thereby resolving the issue and enhancing model predictive performance. The transfer learning method (TL) is applied to a novel technology dubbed the Transformer model, which has demonstrated outstanding performance in data trend prediction. The model exploits the spatiotemporal relationship of data regarding thermal comfort. Experiments are conducted using the source dataset (Scales project dataset and ASHRAE RP-884 dataset) and the target dataset (Medium US office dataset), and the results show that the proposed TL-Transformer achieves 62.6% accuracy, 57% precision, and a 59% F1 score, and the prediction performance is better than other existing methods. Network virtualization is a technology proven to be a key enabling a family of strategies in different targets, such as energy efficiency, economic revenue, network usage, adaptability or failure protection. Network virtualization allows us to adapt the needs of a network to new circumstances, resulting in greater flexibility. The allocation decisions of the demands onto the physical network resources impact the costs and the benefits. Therefore it is one of the major current problems, called virtual network embedding (VNE). Many algorithms have been proposed recently in the literature to solve the VNE problem for different targets. Due to the current successful rise of artificial intelligence, it has been widely used recently to solve technological problems. In this context, this paper investigates the requirements and analyses the use of the Q-learning algorithm for energy-efficient VNE. In this paper, we address the problem of asset performance monitoring, with the intention of both detecting any potential reliability problem and predicting any loss of energy consumption efficiency. This is an important concern for many industries and utilities with very intensive capitalization in very long-lasting assets. To overcome this problem, in this paper we propose an approach to combine an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Data Mining (DM) tools, specifically with Association Rule (AR) Mining. The combination of these two techniques can now be done using software which can handle large volumes of data (big data), but the process still needs to ensure that the required amount of data will be available during the assets' life cycle and that its quality is acceptable. The combination of these two techniques in the proposed sequence differs from previous works found in the literature, giving researchers new options to face the problem. Practical implementation of the proposed approach may lead to novel predictive maintenance models (emerging predictive analytics) that may detect with unprecedented precision any asset's lack of performance and help manage assets' O&M accordingly. Reducing energy waste is one of the primary concerns facing Remote Industrial Plants (RIP) and, in particular, the accommodations and operational plants located in remote areas. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to attack the health of workforce, managing the balance between energy efficiency and Occupation Health and Safety (OHS) in the workplace becomes another great challenge for the RIP. Maintaining this balance is difficult mainly because a full awareness of the OHS will generally consume more energy while reducing the energy cost may lead to a less effective OHS, and the existing literature has not seen a system that is designed for the RIPs to conserve energy usage and improve workforce OHS simultaneously. To bridge this gap, in this paper, we propose an AI Empowered Cyber Physical Ecosystem (AECPE) solution for the RIPs, which integrates Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), artificial intelligence, and mobile networks. The preliminary results of lab experiments and field tests proved that the AECPE was able to help industries reduce the corporate annual energy cost that is worth millions of dollars, optimise the environmental conditions, and improve OHS for all workers and stakeholders. The implementation of the AECPE can result in efficient energy usage, reduced wastage and emissions, environment-friendly operations, and improved social reputation of the industries.
