In the development process of building energy conservation design, the correct provision of local Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) data is a prerequisite and basic work to evaluate building energy consumption, which directly affects the fine use of outdoor data for building energy conservation. Based on the recorded and observed data of meteorological stations in China, the acquisition and correction methods of TMY were studied by mathematical statistics and target searching, and the building energy consumption simulation of urban office buildings was conducted to verify the accuracy of the method, including:(1) Reviewed the generation method for TMY and the acquisition of data.(2) Based on the existing TMY data, the best spatial interpolation method of adjacent stations is studied by using the standard deviation method, and the selection method of the best number of stations on a large regional scale is given.(3) An improved method of urban environment TMY is proposed. The dry bulb temperature and relative humidity of the building site are corrected to generate TMY under Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. Today, about 35% of global energy consumption and related carbon dioxide emissions are caused by the construction sector. This paper evaluates and compares the life cycle energy consumption (LCEC) and carbon dioxide emissions (LCCE) of a heritage building (BT1) constructed in 1875, a new building (BT2) constructed with modern constructional elements with similar plans of the heritage building and the heritage building after the restoration and refurbishment (BT3) by using real data from the construction site of a real project in Gaziantep, Turkey. It is calculated that, the operational phase was dominant over the buildings lifespan and BT1 has the highest operational energy consumption. LCEC and LCCE of the BT1, BT2 and BT3 are calculated to be 102.63, 70.13, 78.07 GJ/m2, and 14.18, 9.75 and 10.06 tons of CO 2 per m2 (tCO 2 /m2), respectively. With current techniques and methodologies the refurbishment and restoration of the heritage building increases the embodied energy (EE) by 56.6%. Selection of appropriate construction materials for refurbishment of heritage buildings is an important procedure that prevents excessive increment of EE and related emissions. Sustainable structural restoration of heritage buildings should be performed by using appropriate methodologies observing the conservation principles of history, energy and environment. [Display omitted] Local electricity markets and peer-to-peer (P2P) trading schemes in buildings have recently gained importance as an efficient way to incentivize energy flexibility (e.g. consumer demand response or storage) and to share local energy resources (e.g. solar PV). This paper proposes local electricity markets for a complex of industrial buildings. We study P2P electricity trading and analyze the role of sharing local flexibility, e.g. a large battery, to maximise the use of distributed energy resource (DER) technologies. The objective is to investigate the value of P2P electricity trading in combination with on-site flexibility resources for a Norwegian industrial site. As the industrial consumers are exposed to a substantial peak power charge for grid usage, the study analyses how a local market affect the peak power demand management. To analyze it, we developed a linear programming model that represents the local power system characteristics of the buildings and simulate one year in operations. Results indicate potential savings on reducing electricity costs in the range of 6.8% to 11.0% based on P2P trading features. The total cost of peak power is reduced up to 25%, making peak shaving the largest contributor to the net cost savings. This paper evaluated lignocellulosic biomass volume, in net and gross forms, consumed by Brazilian wood-based housing producers by building technique, as well as net volumes of fixed carbon and carbon dioxide by built area. Net volumetric values of consumed wood per available technique were obtained for single-story house with 100 m2 of built area, whose data collection was supported by face-to-face interviews with Brazilian producers. Gross volumes were obtained according to wood machining yield described in literature. Determinations of fixed carbon and carbon dioxide were verified by means of net volumes per built area, being calculated from data collected in the interviews. In wood consumption for this standard 100 m2 house, most of construction techniques revealed average net volumes from 8 to 15 m3 and gross volumes from 15 to 24 m3 and from 13 to 21 m3, respectively, for 30% and 55% yields. In net volumes for 100 m2 house, the lowest wood consumption was 2 m3 (or 0.02 m3 per m2 of built area) obtained by two versions of nailed clapboard technique, while the highest amount of wood consumed was 34 m3 (0.34 m3/m2) for modular technique in cross-laminated timber. As regards carbon fixation, contemporary techniques mostly based on eucalypt and pine species ranged from 30 to 40 kg C /m2, while this range was from 35 to 55 kg C /m2 for traditional techniques largely made with natives. For native woods, the lowest carbon fixation was obtained by stick with masonry technique with paricá (12 kg C /m2), and the highest value was observed in log-home technique using sapucaia (92 kg C /m2). In exotics, modular for construction site with loblolly pine presented the lowest fixation (19 kg C /m2), and the possibility of modular technique in cross-laminated timber with blue spotted gum had the highest level (107 kg C /m2). High wood consumptions were influenced by obsolete production technologies and robust techniques, evincing expressive fixations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
