Objective: To analyze the potentialities and weaknesses in nursing education from the perception of students in an undergraduate nursing course. Methods: Qualitative study made in a public university in Ceará, Brazil. 31 students enrolled at the 8th semester of the undergraduate nursing course, in the subject "Special nursing topics" participated. The collection was performed in August, 2019, using a semi structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed utilizing thematic analysis and it resulted in two thematic categories. Results: The following themes were unveiled in the category "Weaknesses in the training of professional nurses": physical examination, medication calculation, pharmacology, vaccines, venipuncture, and others. In the category "Potentialities in the training of professional nurses" narratives about dressing practice, nursing evolution, qualified listening and medication administration emerged. Conclusion: The professional nursing competencies pointed to the construction of abilities, knowledge and attitudes which will favor a critical and reflexive work progress that is essential to the profession. Aim: To analyze the perception of primary health care nurses about their academic formation to act with the elderly. Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, conducted in a North-eastern capital, from April to May 2017. With 10 nurses. For data collection, it was utilized semi-structured interview, and for the analysis, was performed through content analysis. Results: The results pointed to a formation with emphasis on the disease and non-specificity of care for the elderly, however, change tests were observed from the insertion of the students in the health services. Conclusion: It was evidenced a deficit in the nurses formation to work with elderly in primary health care, identifying unpreparedness and insecurity to care for this population in its entirety, since the experiences in formation were directed to the disease. Objective: to analyze the nurse professor education in the attention to gestational diabetes mellitus. Methodology: qualitative study, carried out with thirteen teaching nurses of a Higher Education Institution, in the Northeast region of Brazil. Data were collected in November 2015 through interviews guided by a semi-structured script and analyzed by the Discourse of the Collective Subject. Results: the teaching nurses reported a lack of preparation of higher education institutions for training regarding gestational diabetes mellitus and teachers' dissatisfaction with the subject, which results in the absence of approaches to gestational diabetes mellitus in the academic environment and in education. Conclusions: We have shown weaknesses in the academic training of teaching nurses that interfere in the attention to gestational diabetes mellitus, producing a reflection on the lack of preparation of the teaching institutions in the approach to the subject. Objective: to evaluate the highest training level of researchers of a research group. Methodology: documentary and descriptive study, with participants from the study group on the health of nursing and health workers (GESTES). From 1997 to 2014, data were collected through on-line search of members' lattes curriculum and submitted to descriptive statistical analysis. Results: Fifty women and six men participated in GESTES in this period. Approximately 40% of the members concluded undergraduate level, followed by masters (36%) and doctors (14%) degrees. Both doctors and masters are dedicated to higher education in public or private universities. The qualification of masters and doctors is dependent on the human resources available by the post-graduate program and mentors. Conclusion: GESTES fulfilled its purpose, in regards to the training of a considerable number of researches and in the promotion of their inclusion in universities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
