The governance of justice in renewable energy transitions includes implementing regulations and making public investments that address potential negative impacts on marginalized communities, while ensuring equitable access to the benefits of renewable energy.[15] State capability and political will are crucial to ensure this pivotal role for the state. Mitigating climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time, made more difficult by the need for a fair and inclusive transition to renewable energy. Not only can the funding be used to reduce negative impacts on coal mining communities; it can also catalyze employment creation in the renewable energy sector, with potentially positive political implications for incumbents.
