This paper introduces a theoretical and practical framework, the Territorial Activation with Localized Agro-industry System approach (AT-SIAL, in Spanish), developed from experiences in Latin-American territories where activation processes for specific resources where promoted, through articulation, reinforcement and synergy strengthening for local stakeholders. The AT-SIAL allowed diverse economic sectors participation, supporting an innovative way for revaluation of territorial resources and traditional knowledge. The methodology was focused on rural agro-industries concentrations, but activities related to territorial environmental component where included: tourism and handicrafts. This proposal for territorial management was constructed based on: collective action with local stakeholder empowerment, territory anchoring and territorial governance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
