Edge offloading, including offloading to edge base stations (BS) via cellular links and to idle mobile users (MUs) via device-to-device (D2D) links, has played a vital role in achieving ultra-low latency characteristics in 5G wireless networks. This paper studies an offloading method of parallel communication and computation to minimize the delay in multi-user systems. Three different scenarios are explored, i.e., full offloading, partial offloading, and D2D-enabled partial offloading. In the full offloading scenario, we find a serving order for the MUs. Then, we jointly optimize the serving order and task segment in the partial offloading scenario. For the D2D-enabled partial offloading scenario, we decompose the problem into two subproblems and then find the sub-optimal solution based on the results of the two subproblems. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the offloading method of parallel communication and computing can significantly reduce the system delay, and the D2D-enabled partial offloading can further reduce the latency. The work focuses on the max link selection (MLS) schemes of buffer-aided relaying over the independent and non-identically distributed (i.ni.d) Nakagami- m fading channels in terms of outage probability, average packet delay, and improved diversity-delay trade-off schemes. By modeling the transition of buffer states as a Markov chain, we first obtain the outage probability and average packet delays for MLS schemes, which are given with closed-form expressions. The achieved results show that the i.ni.d fading channels impose severe loss in the diversity and coding gains of MLS schemes. Especially, when the disparity among the channel powers is very large, the diversity order provided by the MLS schemes is less than the ones provided by the traditional best relay selection (T-BRS) and max-max link selection (MMLS) schemes even if the buffers' size is large enough. For the average packet delay of MLS schemes, our results show that they are impacted by the transmit power and the fading severity factors. In general, in the low transmit power, the average packet delays are varying with the transmit power. However, in the high transmit power, the average packet delays approach the stationary values. Besides of this, it is also achieved that the i.ni.d fading makes the average packet delays of MLS schemes at all relays are different. When the powers of relay-destination links are greater than the ones of source-relay links, the average packet delays can be reduced evidently. Motivated by the observations, a weight-based MLS (W-MLS) diversity-delay trade-off scheme is proposed. The proposed W-MLS diversity-delay trade-off schemes not only have the low packet delays at all relays but also provide enough diversity and coding gains over T-BRS and MMML, which can overcome the performance loss caused by non-identical distribution on MLS schemes. In this paper, a comprehensive comparison analysis in terms of outage probability and average symbol error ratio (SER) is presented for cooperative cognitive multiple-input and multiple-output (CC-MIMO) multiuser systems with amplify-and-forward (AF) protocol. Specially, we consider two scenarios where the CC-MIMO multiuser systems have the perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI). The CC-MIMO multiuser systems consist of one multi-antenna source, one single-antenna relay, and multiple multi-antenna destinations. At the secondary source and destinations, the maximal ratio transmission (MRT) and maximal ratio combining (MRC) are employed, respectively. For such CC-MIMO multiuser systems, we first obtain the exact closed-form expressions of outage probability under the two cases where the CC-MIMO multiuser systems have the perfect and imperfect CSI. Then, to reduce the implementation complexity, the tight lower bounds of outage probability and average SER are derived. Finally, to obtain insight, by using the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) approximation, the asymptotic estimations of outage probability are achieved. The numerical results show that the derivations are agreed with the simulations, which validate our derivations. At the same time, the results show that, for the systems without perfect CSI, the achievable diversity order reduces to one, regardless of the number of antennas at the cognitive source and destinations as well as the number of the cognitive destinations. Nevertheless, these key parameters affect the coding gain of the CC-MIMO multiuser systems. When the systems have the perfect CSI (or without feedback delay), the achievable diversity gain is determined by the minimum between the number of source's antennas and the product of the number of destinations and the number of destination's antennas. For the effect of PU's parameters, our results indicate that primary systems only affect the coding gain but not the diversity gain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we study the hybrid beamforming for the wideband mmWave multiuser MIMO-OFDM system. We characterize the frequency-dependent beam angle problem, i.e., beam squint effect. Firstly, we extend the mmWave channel model from the Saleh-Valenzuela representation with the consideration of beam squint. Secondly, a two-tier hybrid beamforming is proposed to achieve the maximum spectral efficiency in wideband mmWave multiuser MIMO-OFDM system. In the first tier, the Rotman lens array is adopted as the analog precoder to provide true-time-delay (TTD) and reduce the beam squint impairment. Moreover, the first-tier baseband precoder is designed based on block diagonalization (BD) to cancel inter-user interference. We further consider the finite spatial resolution and power leakage problem of the lens array. The second-tier hybrid precoder is proposed to collect the leak power with the phase shifter array. The optimal second-tier hybrid precoder design is formulated as the matrix factorization problem, and the two-tier hybrid precoding algorithm is based on the alternative minimization. It is found that both the beam squint and frequency-selective effect should be considered in the wideband mmWave system. Simulation results show that the proposed two-tier hybrid precoder could reduce beam squint impairment and inter-user interference, and could approximate to the optimal full-digital precoder with much fewer RF chains.
