Due to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) throughout 2020–22, remote working has played an important part in organizations, businesses, and agencies worldwide. This situation makes the various cybersecurity threats the Internet poses, especially ransomware. Ransomware will remain the top cybersecurity threat, and the energy sector is the prime target. Previously, research papers only focused on the analytical and protection frameworks. These papers rarely provide real evidence and detailed digital forensics. Interestingly, the ransomware gangs developed new methods but still used similar attack patterns. The authors envisage that a precise understanding of the ransomware attack characteristics is a starting point for the correct detection process. This paper presents a true case study demonstrating the actual occurrence of digital forensics and in-depth technical details of the attacks within the energy sector. The significant attack patterns, which have never been emphasized in research papers, can be proposed for the two loops. The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) is an essential index to measure international dry bulk shipping freight, which can reflect global economic changes to a certain extent. Accurate forecasting of BDI supports shipping market participants in grasping risks and making scientific decisions. Based on the Prophet model, this paper considers the impact of multi-dimensional significant events related to the shipping industry and conducts BDI forecasting research. Firstly, we simulate the most momentous events in the world in recent years, namely the 2008 Global Financial Crisis and the 2019 New Crown Epidemic, and utilize the Prophet model to decompose the BDI sequence into three parts: trend, seasonality, and momentous event shocks. Secondly, we extensively collect other multi-dimensional significant event uncertainty indexes to establish a "significant event database". The Maximal Information Coefficient and Boruta methods were employed to extract the uncertainty index particularly correlated with BDI as an exogenous variable for forecasting. Then, we employ the K-Shape method to cluster exogenous variables and explore the combined sense of clustering. Finally, we utilize the Prophet model to forecast BDI in stages. It discusses the influence of exogenous variables and their cluster combinations on the forecasting effect individually and sequentially. Empirical results show that considering the two momentous events of the Financial Crisis and COVID-19 can remarkably improve the accuracy of BDI forecasting. In addition, the study of exogenous variable significance found that during the Financial Crisis, economic policy uncertainty in Europe and the Americas greatly impacted BDI forecasting. During COVID-19, global and developed economic policy uncertainty was noteworthy in the BDI forecasting. The comparative experimental results show the Prophet model has an exemplary forecasting result and strong robustness. It also performs excellently in model generalization and interpretability. The 2019 coronavirus disease outbreak, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome type-2 virus (SARS-CoV-2), was declared a pandemic in March 2020. Since its emergence to the present day, this disease has brought multiple countries to the brink of health care collapse during several waves of the disease. One of the most common tests performed on patients is chest x-ray imaging. These images show the severity of the patient's illness and whether it is indeed covid or another type of pneumonia. Automated assessment of this type of imaging could alleviate the time required for physicians to treat and diagnose each patient. To this end, in this paper we propose the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to carry out this process. The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, we present a pipeline adapted to this problem, covering all steps from the preprocessing of the datasets to the generation of classification models based on CNNs. Secondly, we have focused our study on the modification of the information fusion processes of this type of architectures, in the pooling layers. We propose a number of aggregation theory functions that are suitable to replace classical processes and have shown their benefits in past applications, and study their performance in the context of the x-ray classification problem. Infectious diseases can cause a sudden and serious spread of public opinion, making it a popular topic for analysis. However, current research on public sentiment mostly relies on traditional machine learning methods, which are limited by sample size and labor costs. This paper presents a novel deep learning model called PCA-BERT, an improved BERT model that utilizes principal component analysis (PCA) to extract and fuse the effective features of each layer of the BERT model. This approach offers a more accurate measurement of public sentiment. Furthermore, this paper proposes an analytical framework to comprehensively study the characteristics of network public opinion evolution in major infectious diseases from three perspectives: content, structure, and behavior. To validate the proposed model and framework, we analyze the COVID-19 pandemic as a case study and collect social media data from the past three years since the outbreak. We calculate public emotions using the PCA-BERT model and combine the obtained emotional values to summarize the temporal and spatial laws of the evolution of network public opinion in terms of content, structure, and behavior. Emotion assessment is a challenging task in the human–computer interaction interface. Previous studies have examined the relationship between emotion and color, but they fail to accurately analyze emotional semantics due to the numerous elements in human–computer interaction interfaces. As a result, a combination model of a backpropagation neural network (BPNN) and an artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) was presented in this paper to predict the emotion semantics of the human–computer interaction interface. The mechanism of generating the weights and thresholds for each layer of BPNN was converted to the search for an optimal honey source. Meanwhile, according to experiment results and evaluation of elements in human–computer interaction interfaces, this paper has assessed the relationships amongst the eight key elements (ratio of graphics to text, color difference, color distribution, color harmony, theme style, white space ratio, frame style, number of colors) and emotion word pairs (moderation-fancy, calm-pleasure, confusing-clear, cold-kind, coarse-elegant). Furthermore, an emotion application database was established to determine how the amalgamation of critical elements affects the users' feelings about the human–computer interaction interface to help designers build a user-centric interface. Finally, the database can be applied to relieve mental health problems by meeting the psychological expectations of users as mental healthcare intervention during the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective supply chain management is crucial for economic growth, and sustainability is becoming a key consideration for large companies. COVID-19 has presented significant challenges to supply chains, making PCR testing a vital product during the pandemic. It detects the presence of the virus if you are infected at the time and detects fragments of the virus even after you are no longer infected. This paper proposes a multi-objective mathematical linear model to optimize a sustainable, resilient, and responsive supply chain for PCR diagnostic tests. The model aims to minimize costs, negative societal impact caused by shortages, and environmental impact, using a scenario-based approach with stochastic programming. The model is validated by investigating a real-life case study in one of Iran's high-risk supply chain areas. The proposed model is solved using the revised multi-choice goal programming method. Lastly, sensitivity analyses based on effective parameters are conducted to analyze the behavior of the developed Mixed-Integer Linear Programming. According to the results, not only is the model capable of balancing three objective functions, but it is also capable of providing resilient and responsive networks. The COVID-19 outbreak has negatively impacted the income of many bank users. Many users without emergency funds had difficulty coping with this unexpected event and had to use credit or apply to the government for bailout funds. Therefore, it is necessary to develop spending plans and deposit plans based on transaction data of users to assist them in saving sufficient emergency funds to cope with unexpected events. In this paper, an emergency fund model is proposed, and two optimization algorithms are applied to solve the optimal solution of the model. Secondly, an early warning mechanism is proposed, i.e. an unexpected prevention index and a consumption index are proposed to measure the ability of users to cope with unexpected events and the reasonableness of their expenditure respectively, which provides early warning to users. Finally, the model is experimented with real bank users and the performance of the model is analysed. The experiments show that compared to the no-planning scenario, the model helps users to save more emergency funds to cope with unexpected events, furthermore, the proposed model is real-time and sensitive. The volume of e-commerce continues to increase year after year. Buying goods on the internet is easy and practical, and took a huge boost during the lockdowns of the Covid crisis. However, this is also an open window for fraudsters and the corresponding financial loss costs billions of dollars. In this paper, we study e-commerce credit card fraud detection, in collaboration with our industrial partner, Worldline. Transactional companies are more and more dependent on machine learning models such as deep learning anomaly detection models, as part of real-world fraud detection systems (FDS). We focus on continual learning to find the best model with respect to two objectives: to maximize the accuracy and to minimize the catastrophic forgetting phenomenon. For the latter, we proposed an evaluation procedure to quantify the forgetting in data streams with delayed feedback: the plasticity/stability visualization matrix. We also investigated six strategies and 13 methods on a real-size case study including five months of e-commerce credit card transactions. As an indispensable component of intelligent monitoring systems, crowd counting plays a crucial role in many fields, particularly crowd management and control during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the promising achievements of many methods, crowd scale variations and noise interference in congested crowd scenes remain urgent problems to be solved. In this paper, we propose a novel Hierarchical Scale-aware Encoder–Decoder Network (HSED-Net) for single-image crowd counting to handle scale variations and noise interference, thereby generating high-quality density maps. The HSED-Net is designed as an encoder–decoder architecture, which contains two core networks: Scale-Aware Encoding network (SAEnet) and Multi-path Aggregation Decoding network (MADnet). The SAEnet focuses on extracting rich multi-scale crowd features, which employs cascaded scale-aware encoding branches to collaboratively obtain high-resolution feature representations. During the encoding phase, two adaptive weight generators are proposed to filter the crowd features from different dimensions to resist the interference of noise. Instead of fusing the multi-scale and multi-level features indiscriminately, the MADnet adopts a multi-path adaptive fusion strategy and selectively emphasizes more appropriate features through the spatial and channel guidance modules, further improving the quality of density maps and the robustness of network. The outbreak of COVID-19 brings almost the biggest explosions of scientific literature ever. Facing such volume literature, it is hard for researches to find desired citation when carrying out COVID-19 related research, especially for junior researchers. This paper presents a novel neural network based method, called c itation r elational B ERT with h eterogeneous d eep g raph c onvolutional n etwork (CRB-HDGCN), for COVID-19 inline citation recommendation task. The CRB-HDGCN contains two main stages. The first stage is to enhance the representation learning of BERT model for COVID-19 inline citation recommendation task through CRB. To achieve the above goal, an augmented citation sentence corpus, which replaces the citation placeholder with the title of the cited papers, is used to lightly retrain BERT model. In addition, we extract three types of sentence pair according citation relation, and establish sentence prediction tasks to further fine-tune the BERT model. The second stage is to learn effective dense vector of nodes among COVID-19 bibliographic graph through HDGCN. The HDGCN contains four layers which are essentially all sub neural networks. The first layer is initial embedding layer which generates initial input vectors with fixed size through CRB and a multilayer perceptron. The second layer is a heterogeneous graph convolutional layer. In this layer, we expand traditional homogeneous graph convolutional network into heterogeneous by subtly adding heterogeneous nodes and relations. The third layer is a deep attention layer. This layer uses trainable project vectors to reweight the node importance simultaneously according to both node types and convolution layers, which further promotes the performance of learnt node vectors. The last decoder layer recovers the graph structure and let the whole network trainable. The recommendation is finally achieved by integrating the high performance heterogeneous vectors learnt from CRB-HDGCN with the query vectors. We conduct experiments on the CORD-19 and LitCovid datasets. • This paper proposes a MOMHTS optimized HRFDL architecture for diagnosing the COVID-19 and pneumonia from chest CT and X-ray images via a collaborative edge framework to offer web services in underprivileged areas. • The hyperparameters of the HRFDL classifier are optimized using the MOMHTS algorithm which minimizes the complexity of the Deep learning model that prevents it from being deployed in the edge devices. COVID-19 is a global pandemic that mostly affects patients' respiratory systems, and the only way to protect oneself against the virus at present moment is to diagnose the illness, isolate the patient, and provide immunization. In the present situation, the testing used to predict COVID-19 is inefficient and results in more false positives. This difficulty can be solved by developing a remote medical decision support system that detects illness using CT scans or X-ray images with less manual interaction and is less prone to errors. The state-of-art techniques mainly used complex deep learning architectures which are not quite effective when deployed in resource-constrained edge devices. To overcome this problem, a Multi-Objective Modified Heat Transfer Search (MOMHTS) optimized Hybrid Random Forest Deep learning (HRFDL) classifier is proposed in this paper. The MOMHTS algorithm mainly optimizes the deep learning model in the HRFDL architecture by optimizing the hyperparameters associated with it to support the resource-constrained edge devices. To evaluate the efficiency of this technique, extensive experimentation is conducted on two real-time datasets namely the COVID19 lung CT scan dataset and the Chest X-ray images (Pneumonia) datasets. The proposed methodology mainly offers increased speed for communication between the IoT devices and COVID-19 detection via the MOMHTS optimized HRFDL classifier is modified to support the resources which can only support minimal computation and handle minimum storage. The proposed methodology offers an accuracy of 99% for both the COVID19 lung CT scan dataset and the Chest X-ray images (Pneumonia) datasets with minimal computational time, cost, and storage. Based on the simulation outcomes, we can conclude that the proposed methodology is an appropriate fit for edge computing detection to identify the COVID19 and pneumonia with higher detection accuracy. Causal machine learning (ML) algorithms recover graphical structures that tell us something about cause-and-effect relationships. The causal representation provided by these algorithms enables transparency and explainability, which is necessary for decision making in critical real-world problems. Yet, causal ML has had limited impact in practice compared to associational ML. This paper investigates the challenges of causal ML with application to COVID-19 UK pandemic data. We collate data from various public sources and investigate what the various structure learning algorithms learn from these data. We explore the impact of different data formats on algorithms spanning different classes of learning, and assess the results produced by each algorithm, and groups of algorithms, in terms of graphical structure, model dimensionality, sensitivity analysis, confounding variables, predictive and interventional inference. We use these results to highlight open problems in causal structure learning and directions for future research. During the COVID-19 pandemic, online social media platforms such as Twitter facilitate the exchange of information among people. However, the prevalence of "infodemic" such as online hate speech has exacerbated social rifts, discrimination, prejudice and even hate crimes. Timely and effective detection of the hate speech will help create a healthy public opinion environment. Most of the current COVID-19-related hate speech research focuses on a single language, such as English. In this paper, we introduce a cross-lingual transfer learning method, aiming to contribute to hate speech detection in low-resource languages. We propose a deep learning based model to classify hate speech with a pre-trained language model for multilingual text embedding. Data augmentation and cross-lingual contrastive learning are then utilized to further improve the performance of cross-lingual knowledge transfer. To evaluate our method, we collected three publicly available annotated COVID-19-related hate speech datasets on Twitter, i.e., two in English and one in German. Furthermore, a Chinese dataset based on Weibo is constructed to expand multilingual data. The experimental results across three languages illustrate the effectiveness of our method for cross-lingual hate speech detection. This paper aims to predict the economic resilience to crises of territories based on local pre-existing socioeconomic characteristics. Specifically, we consider the case of Italian municipalities during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, leveraging a large-scale dataset of cardholders performing transactions in Point-of-Sales. Based on a set of machine learning classifiers, we show that network-based measures and variables related to the social, economic, demographic and environmental dimensions are relevant predictors of the economic resilience of Italian municipalities to the crisis. In particular, we find accurate classification performance both in balanced and un-balanced scenarios, as well as in the case we restrict the analysis to specific geographical areas. Our analysis predicts that territories with larger income per capita, soil consumption, concentration of real estate activities and commuting network centrality in terms of closeness and Pagerank constitute the set of most affected areas, experiencing the strongest reduction of economic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has been accompanied by a proliferation of online misinformation and disinformation about the virus. Combating this 'infodemic' has been identified as one of the top priorities of the World Health Organization, because false and misleading information can lead to a range of negative consequences, including the spread of false remedies, conspiracy theories, and xenophobia. This paper aims to combat the COVID-19 infodemic on multiple fronts, including determining the credibility of information, identifying its potential harm to society, and the necessity of intervention by relevant organizations. We present a prompt-based curriculum learning method to achieve this goal. The proposed method could overcome the challenges of data sparsity and class imbalance issues. Using online social media texts as input, the proposed model can verify content from multiple perspectives by answering a series of questions concerning the text's reliability. Experiments revealed the effectiveness of prompt tuning and curriculum learning in assessing the reliability of COVID-19-related text. The proposed method outperforms typical text classification methods, including fastText and BERT. Analyzing the COVID-19 pandemic is a critical factor in developing effective policies to deal with similar challenges in the future. However, many parameters (e.g., the actual number of infected people, the effectiveness of vaccination) are still subject to considerable debate because they are unobservable. To model a pandemic and estimate unobserved parameters, researchers use compartmental models. Most often, in such models, the transition rates are considered as constants, which allows simulating only one epidemiological wave. However, multiple waves have been reported for COVID-19 caused by different strains of the virus. This paper presents an approach based on the reconstruction of real distributions of transition rates using genetic algorithms, which makes it possible to create a model that describes several pandemic peaks. The model is fitted on registered COVID-19 cases in four countries with different pandemic control strategies (Germany, Sweden, UK, and US). Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was chosen as the objective function, the MAPE values of 2.168%, 2.096%, 1.208% and 1.703% were achieved for the listed countries, respectively. Simulation results are consistent with the empirical statistics of medical studies, which confirms the quality of the model. In addition to observables such as registered infected, the output of the model contains variables that cannot be measured directly. Among them are the proportion of the population protected by vaccines, the size of the exposed compartment, and the number of unregistered cases of COVID-19. According to the results, at the peak of the pandemic, between 14% (Sweden) and 25% (the UK) of the population were infected. At the same time, the number of unregistered cases exceeds the number of registered cases by 17 and 3.4 times, respectively. The average duration of the vaccine induced immune period is shorter than claimed by vaccine manufacturers, and the effectiveness of vaccination has declined sharply since the appearance of the Delta and Omicron strains. In this paper we focus on the perspective of public health decision-makers. Typically, they would have a standard set of questions and supporting metrics that have been found in previous disease outbreaks to be useful in assessing the effectiveness of various 'solution' methods on the trajectory of the disease. There may be other relevant questions with which such public health domain experts may not be familiar and/or for which they are familiar but are not aware of methods for addressing such questions when there is limited data. Decision Support Systems (DSS) can be used to facilitate the exploration of established questions and some other relevant questions. Given an initial set of questions, the DSS designer should consider which sets of data analytic methods have the capabilities to adequately address. Some of these data analytic methods may also have the capability of addressing questions that could be of interest to the public health decision makers including researchers. In this paper we present a conceptual design for a relevant easy-to-construct DSS and an example of a multi-method DSS that is based on this conceptual design. Several feature selection methods have been developed to extract the optimal features from a dataset in medical datasets classification. Creating an efficient technique has become a challenge because of the high dimensions, noise, and redundant information. In this paper, we propose a hybrid filter-wrapper approach for feature selection. An ensemble of filter methods, ReliefF and Fuzzy Entropy (RFE) is developed, and the union of top-n features from each method are considered. The Equilibrium Optimizer (EO) technique is combined with Opposition Based Learning (OBL), Cauchy Mutation operator and a novel search strategy to enhance its capabilities. The OBL strategy improves the diversity of the population in the search space. The Cauchy Mutation operator enhances its ability to evade the local optima during the search, and the novel search strategy improves the exploration capability of the algorithm. This enhanced form of EO is integrated with eight time-varying S and V-shaped transfer functions to convert the solutions into binary form, Binary Enhanced Equilibrium Optimizer (BEE). The features from the ensemble are given as input to the Binary Enhanced Equilibrium Optimizer to extract the essential features. Fuzzy KNN based on Bonferroni mean is used as the learning algorithm. Twenty-two benchmark datasets and four microarray datasets are used to test the algorithm's efficiency. This method is also applied to a COVID-19 case study. The results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach, RFE-BEE, among other methods in terms of fitness values, accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and F-measure, among several other state-of-the-art algorithms. The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has dramatically altered the state of the global economy, and the stock market has become more volatile and even fallen sharply as a result of its negative impact, heightening investors' apprehension regarding the correlation between unexpected events and stock market volatility. Additionally, internal and external characteristics coexist in the stock market. Existing research has struggled to extract more effective stock market features during the COVID-19 outbreak using a single time-series neural network model. This paper presents a framework for multitasking learning-based stock market forecasting (COVID-19-MLSF), which can extract the internal and external features of the stock market and their relationships effectively during COVID-19.The innovation comprises three components: designing a new market sentiment index (NMSI) and COVID-19 index to represent the external characteristics of the stock market during the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, it introduces a multi-task learning framework to extract global and local features of the stock market. To manage the propagation of infectious diseases, particularly fast-spreading pandemics, it is necessary to provide information about possible infected places and individuals, however, it needs diagnostic tests and is time-consuming and expensive. In this service, on-time delivery to the right customer with high-quality fresh meals is deemed the primary factor. This paper investigates the reliability of OFD through its ability to meet customer needs in a specific context. During the delivery process, the courier receives the food at the store, packs it into a delivery box, and then delivers it to the customer. Note that, the delivery boxes are limited in space. Customers prefer having their orders delivered within a given time threshold. Thus, reliability is defined as the probability to complete non-integer and multiple orders under a limited time and space. Besides, the OFD system belongs to the gig economy, which allows couriers to select their shifts and working regions. Hence, the capacity of each region, which indicates the number of available couriers, is regarded as multistate. We, thus, construct the OFD system as a multistate online food delivery network (MOFN). Under the limitation of time and space, all feasible minimal capacity vectors are determined to compute the reliability. In this paper, we develop a complete problem-solving approach for GDM that orients twofold settings of the complex large-scale group and the time-sensitive emergency decision scenarios. The crux of the matter is to design a feasible mechanism of group consensus strategies in the environment of time pressure and natural language preferences. To solve this problem, we propose a closed-loop mechanism of feedback recommendation strategies accompanied with a new subgroup identification method. This mechanism is underlain by a fourfold decomposition of complex large-scale groups, which entails multiple thresholds of group consensus, group hesitation, and time-related iteration of loops. Our mechanism and the whole GDM approach thoroughly orient the most intuitive representation of preferences - human natural language, which can be elicited and quantitatively formulated in probability linguistic preference systems. We illustrate the proposed approach through a real case study of China's fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. We verify that our mechanism can perfectly tradeoff between the effectiveness and the efficiency of complex large-scale GDM under risk and emergency. During the global fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) epidemic, accurate outbreak trend forecasting has become vital for outbreak prevention and control. Effective COVID-19 outbreak trend prediction remains a complex and challenging issue owing to the significant fluctuations in the COVID-19 data series. Most previous studies have limitations only using individual forecasting methods for outbreak modeling, ignoring the combination of the advantages of different prediction methods, which may lead to insufficient results. Therefore, this paper develops a novel ensemble paradigm based on multiple neural networks and a novel heuristic optimization algorithm. First, a new hybrid sine cosine algorithm-whale optimization algorithm (SCWOA) is exercised on 15 benchmark tests. Second, four neural networks are used as predictors for the COVID-19 outbreak forecasting. Each predictor is given a weight, and the proposed SCWOA is used to optimize the best matching weights of the ensemble model. The daily COVID-19 series collected from three of the most-affected countries were taken as the test cases. The experimental results demonstrate that different neural network models have different performances in various complex epidemic prediction scenarios. The quantification of economic uncertainty is key to the prediction of macroeconomic variables, such as gross domestic product (GDP), and is particularly crucial in regard to real-time or short-time prediction methodologies, such as nowcasting, where a large amount of time series data is required. Most of the data comes from official agency statistics and non-public institutions, but these sources are susceptible to lack of information due to major disruptive events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, it is very common nowadays to use non-traditional data from different sources. The economic policy uncertainty (EPU) index is the indicator most frequently used to quantify uncertainty and is based on topic modeling of newspapers. In this paper, we propose a methodology to estimate the EPU index that incorporates a fast and efficient method for topic modeling of digital news based on semantic clustering with word embeddings, allowing us to update the index in real time, which is something that other studies have failed to manage. Against COVID-19, for emergency purposes, the Indian medical board has approved three vaccines: Covishield, Covaxin, and Sputnik V. Generally, the Indian people are embarrassed about the vaccination of COVID-19. All people are thinking about which vaccine is best for them. This labyrinth can be evaluated effectively using the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) technique. Therefore, we have proposed a novel MCDM technique for selecting COVID-19 vaccines. The main aim of this paper is to develop an MCDM technique based on a λ -weighted ranking interpreter ( R λ + , R λ − ). The first time, we have defined positive and negative λ -weighted rank interpreter for the ranking of single-valued bipolar neutrosophic (SVbN) number. Additionally, positive and negative λ -weighted values and positive and negative λ -weighted ambiguity of an SVbN-number are formulated here. In the context of global pandemic Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that threatens life of all human beings, it is of vital importance to achieve early detection of COVID-19 among symptomatic patients. In this paper, a computer aided diagnosis (CAD) model Cov-Net is proposed for accurate recognition of COVID-19 from chest X-ray images via machine vision techniques, which mainly concentrates on powerful and robust feature learning ability. In particular, a modified residual network with asymmetric convolution and attention mechanism embedded is selected as the backbone of feature extractor, after which skip-connected dilated convolution with varying dilation rates is applied to achieve sufficient feature fusion among high-level semantic and low-level detailed information. Experimental results on two public COVID-19 radiography databases have demonstrated the practicality of proposed Cov-Net in accurate COVID-19 recognition with accuracy of 0.9966 and 0.9901, respectively. Furthermore, within same experimental conditions, proposed Cov-Net outperforms other six state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms, which validates the superiority and competitiveness of Cov-Net in building highly discriminative features from the perspective of methodology. Hence, it is deemed that proposed Cov-Net has a good generalization ability so that it can be applied to other CAD scenarios. Consequently, one can conclude that this work has both practical value in providing reliable reference to the radiologist and theoretical significance in developing methods to build robust features with strong presentation ability. The Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a risk assessment tool used to identify potential failure modes (FM) which should be prioritized to be mitigated. To assess the risks of an OR, some important aspects cannot be neglected: it should be conducted by a team of experts from different functional areas; address the non-compensation between criteria; classify FM, instead of ranking it, since it is easier to understand and support decision making; address the subjectivity present on experts' opinion; and consider the mitigation complexity, since hospital's resources are limited. However, were not found studies in the literature which simultaneously covered all these aspects. Therefore, this paper proposes a new group decision model, which combines a consensus reaching process with ELECTRE TRI and double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets (DHHFLTS). A pilot application of the model was conducted in an OR of a Brazilian hospital. The results have shown that the consensus technique, the mitigation complexity, and the non-compensation can modify the failure modes classification. Also, the DHHFLTS allowed the experts to use more complex linguistic terms to express their opinion. In addition, the pilot application was carried out during the covid-19 pandemic and the results have shown that due to the high number of elective surgeries being rescheduled to give space to urgent surgeries, the patients' health problems become even worst and they turn to urgent surgeries. Many types of research have been carried out with the aim of combating the COVID-19 pandemic since the first outbreak was detected in Wuhan, China. Anticipating the evolution of an outbreak helps to devise suitable economic, social and health care strategies to mitigate the effects of the virus. For this reason, predicting the SARS-CoV-2 transmission rate has become one of the most important and challenging problems of the past months. In this paper, we apply a two-stage mid and long-term forecasting framework to the epidemic situation in eight districts of Andalusia, Spain. First, an analytical procedure is performed iteratively to fit polynomial curves to the cumulative curve of contagions. Then, the extracted information is used for estimating the parameters and structure of an evolutionary artificial neural network with hybrid architectures (i.e., with different basis functions for the hidden nodes) while considering single and simultaneous time horizon estimations. The results obtained demonstrate that including polynomial information extracted during the training stage significantly improves the mid- and long-term estimations in seven of the eight considered districts. The rapid outbreak of COVID-19 has affected the lives and livelihoods of a large part of the society. Hence, to confine the rapid spread of this virus, early detection of COVID-19 is extremely important. One of the most common ways of detecting COVID-19 is by using chest X-ray images. In the literature, it is found that most of the research activities applied convolutional neural network (CNN) models where the features generated by the last convolutional layer were directly passed to the classification models. In this paper, convolutional long short-term memory (ConvLSTM) layer is used in order to encode the spatial dependency among the feature maps obtained from the last convolutional layer of the CNN and to improve the image representational capability of the model. Additionally, the squeeze-and-excitation (SE) block, a spatial attention mechanism, is used to allocate weights to important local features. These two mechanisms are employed on three popular CNN models – VGG19, InceptionV3, and MobileNet to improve their classification strength. Finally, the Sugeno fuzzy integral based ensemble method is used on these classifiers' outputs to enhance the detection accuracy further. For experiments, three chest X-ray datasets, which are very prevalent for COVID-19 detection, are considered. For all the three datasets, it is found that the results obtained by the proposed method are comparable to state-of-the-art methods. Previous studies showed that supply chain barriers have multi-faceted impacts on industries and supply chains, which demand appropriate measures. In this regard, seven major barriers that directly impact industries have been identified to determine which industry is most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper utilized a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approach under a neutrosophic environment using trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers to rank those barriers. The Analytical Network Process (ANP) quantifies the effects and considers the interrelationships between the determined barriers (criteria) involved in decision-making. Subsequently, the Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to the COmpromise Solution (MARCOS) method was adopted to rank six industries according to the impact of those barriers. Results show that the lack of inventory is the largest barrier to influencing industries, followed by the lack of manpower. Due to the rapid technological advances that have been made over the years, more people are changing their way of living from traditional ways of doing business to those featuring greater use of electronic resources. This transition has attracted (and continues to attract) the attention of cybercriminals, referred to in this article as "attackers", who make use of the structure of the Internet to commit cybercrimes, such as phishing, in order to trick users into revealing sensitive data, including personal information, banking and credit card details, IDs, passwords, and more important information via replicas of legitimate websites of trusted organizations. In our digital society, the COVID-19 pandemic represents an unprecedented situation. As a result, many individuals were left vulnerable to cyberattacks while attempting to gather credible information about this alarming situation. Unfortunately, by taking advantage of this situation, specific attacks associated with the pandemic dramatically increased. Regrettably, cyberattacks do not appear to be abating. For this reason, cyber-security corporations and researchers must constantly develop effective and innovative solutions to tackle this growing issue. Although several anti-phishing approaches are already in use, such as the use of blacklists, visuals, heuristics, and other protective solutions, they cannot efficiently prevent imminent phishing attacks. The consecutive disturbances and lagged observations from chaotic time-series dataset like as routine Covid-19 confirmed cases have led to the low performance in temporal feature learning process through recent RNN-based models. To meet this challenge, in this paper, we proposed a novel dual attention-based sequential auto-encoding architecture, called as: DAttAE. Our proposed model supports to effectively learn and predict the new Covid-19 cases in forms of chaotic and non-smooth time series dataset. Specifically, the integration between dual self-attention mechanism in a given Bi-LSTM based auto-encoder in our proposed model supports to directly focus the model on a specific time-range sequence in order to achieve better prediction. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared on 11th March 2020 the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a pandemic. The traditional infectious disease surveillance had failed to alert public health authorities to intervene in time and mitigate and control the COVID-19 before it became a pandemic. Compared with traditional public health surveillance, harnessing the rich data from social media, including Twitter, has been considered a useful tool and can overcome the limitations of the traditional surveillance system. This paper proposes an intelligent COVID-19 early warning system using Twitter data with novel machine learning methods. We use the natural language processing (NLP) pre-training technique, i.e., fine-tuning BERT as a Twitter classification method. Moreover, we implement a COVID-19 forecasting model through a Twitter-based linear regression model to detect early signs of the COVID-19 outbreak. Furthermore, we develop an expert system, an early warning web application based on the proposed methods. The experimental results suggest that it is feasible to use Twitter data to provide COVID-19 surveillance and prediction in the US to support health departments' decision-making. In the context of the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), this paper proposes an innovative and systematic decision support model based on Bayesian networks (BNs) to identify and control the risk of COVID-19 patients spreading the virus, which requires the following three steps. First, by consulting the related literature and combining this with expert knowledge, we identify and classify the characteristics (risk factors) of COVID-19 and obtain a conceptual framework for COVID-19 Risk Assessment Bayesian Networks (CRABNs). Second, data on COVID-19 patients with expert scoring results on patient risk levels were collected from hospitals in Hubei Province of China and are used as the training set, and the structure and parameters of the CRABNs model are obtained through machine learning. Finally, we propose two indicators, namely, Model Bias and Model Accuracy, and use the remaining data to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the CRABNs model to ensure that there are no significant differences between the predicted results of the model and the actual results provided by experts who have relevant experience in treating COVID-19. At the same time, we compared the CRABNs model with the support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and k-nearest neighbour (KNN) models through four indicators: accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F-score. The results suggest the reliability of the model and show that it has promising application potential. To combat the recent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), academician and clinician are in search of new approaches to predict the COVID-19 outbreak dynamic trends that may slow down or stop the pandemic. In this paper, we designed the recurrent and convolutional neural network models: vanilla LSTM, stacked LSTM, ED_LSTM, BiLSTM, CNN, and hybrid CNN+LSTM model to capture the complex trend of COVID-19 outbreak and perform the forecasting of COVID-19 daily confirmed cases of 7, 14, 21 days for India and its four most affected states (Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu). The root mean square error (RMSE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) evaluation metric are computed on the testing data to demonstrate the relative performance of these models. To the best of our knowledge, COVID-19 is a life-threatening disease, especially for people in poor health conditions. Therefore, it sounds reasonable to optimize the health care queuing systems to minimize the infection rate by prioritizing patients based on their health condition so patients with a higher risk of infection will leave the queue sooner. This paper investigates the forecasting performance for credit default swap (CDS) spreads by Support Vector Machines (SVM), Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Markov switching autoregression (MSA) for daily CDS spreads of the 513 leading US companies, in the period 2009–2020. The goal of this study is to test the forecasting performance of these methods before and during the Covid-19 pandemic and to check whether there are changes in the market efficiency. MSA outperforms all other methods most frequently. GMDH breaks the efficient market hypothesis more frequently (75%) than other methods. The change of the relative predictability during Covid-19 is small with some increase of the advantage of the investigated methods over a benchmark. The longest common consecutive subsequences (LCCS) play a vital role in revealing the biological relationships between DNA/RNA sequences especially the newly discovered ones such as COVID-19. FLAT is a Fragmented local aligner technique which is an accelerated version of the local pairwise sequence alignment algorithm based on meta -heuristic algorithms. The performance of FLAT needs to be enhanced since the huge length of biological sequences leads to trapping in local optima. This paper introduces a modified version of FLAT based on improving the performance of the BA algorithm by integration with particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on a novel infection mechanism. The proposed algorithm, named BPINF, depends on finding the best-explored solution using BA operators which can infect the agents during the exploitation phase using PSO operators to move toward it instead of moving toward the best-exploited solution. Hence, moving the solutions toward the two best solutions increase the diversity of generated solutions and avoids trapping in local optima. The infection can be propagated through the agents where each infected agent can transfer the infection to other non-infected agents which enhances the diversification of generated solutions. FLAT using the proposed technique (BPINF) was validated to detect LCCS between a set of real biological sequences with huge lengths besides COVID-19 and other well-known viruses. The performance of BPINF was compared to the enhanced versions of BA in the literature and the relevant studies of FLAT. The novel of coronavirus (COVID-19) has suddenly and abruptly changed the world as we knew at the start of the 3rd decade of the 21st century. Particularly, COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected financial econometrics and stock markets across the globe. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)-based prediction models, especially Deep Neural Network (DNN) architectures, have the potential to act as a key enabling factor to reduce the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and future possible ones on financial markets. In this regard, first, a unique COVID-19 related PRIce MOvement prediction (COVID19 PRIMO) dataset is introduced in this paper, which incorporates effects of social media trends related to COVID-19 on stock market price movements. Afterwards, a novel hybrid and parallel DNN-based framework is proposed that integrates different and diversified learning architectures. Referred to as the COVID-19 adopted Hybrid and Parallel deep fusion framework for Stock price Movement Prediction (COVID19-HPSMP), innovative fusion strategies are used to combine scattered social media news related to COVID-19 with historical mark data. The proposed COVID19-HPSMP consists of two parallel paths (hence hybrid), one based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with Local/Global Attention modules, and one integrated CNN and Bi-directional Long Short term Memory (BLSTM) path. The two parallel paths are followed by a multilayer fusion layer acting as a fusion center that combines localized features. Forecasting influenza epidemics has important practical implications. However, the performance of traditional methods adopting in Hong Kong influenza forecasting is limited due to its particularity. This paper proposes an integrated approach for Hong Kong influenza epidemics forecasting. The novelties of our approach mainly include: firstly, we adopt a model for Google search queries data collection and selection in Hong Kong to substitute Google Correlate. Secondly, we adopt the stacked autoencoder (SAE) to reduce the dimensionality of Google search queries data. Thirdly, we adopt a signal decomposition method named variational mode decomposition (VMD) to decompose the influenza data into modes with different frequencies, which can extract the characteristic. Fourthly, we use artificial neural networks (ANN) to forecast these modes of influenza epidemics extracted by VMD respectively, then these forecasts of each mode are added to generate the final forecasting results. From the perspective of forecasting accuracy and hypothesis tests, the empirical results show that our proposed integrated approach SAE-VMD-ANN significantly outperforms some other benchmark models both in the whole period and influenza season. Obviously, the Covid-19 pandemic has huge impact on most businesses and has caused serious and countless problems for them. Therefore, providing solutions for affected businesses to recover and improve their activities during pandemic times is inevitable. In this regard, ecotourism centers are one of the businesses that went through this problem and have faced significant dilemmas in their activities. Also, reportedly, there is no related research focusing on the recovery approaches to address these obstacles relating to these kinds of businesses during the pandemic. Therefore, all of these exhorted us to do the current research. In this paper, some practical and useful action plans for ecotourism centers are firstly developed to help these businesses. To obtain the action plans, some brainstorming sessions were held consisting of tourism experts, university professors, managers, owners, and some personnel of eco-tourism centers. In order to prioritize the defined action plans, four criteria are considered. Firstly, we compute the weights of the considered criteria by the Fuzzy DEMATEL and then they are prioritized using the Fuzzy VIKOR. The findings of the current study divulge that the AP2 "Standardization of the centers" and AP3 "Estimating demand number and increasing the capacity" and AP7 "Identifying other natural tourist attractions of the region" have the highest and lowest priority to be implemented. • We analyze the correlation of meteorological and human mobility in Brazilian capitals. • We propose the EEMD-ARIMAX method to predict time series with independent variables. • We introduce an anomaly detection algorithm to adjust the prediction. In 2020, Brazil was the leading country in COVID-19 cases in Latin America, and capital cities were the most severely affected by the outbreak. Climates vary in Brazil due to the territorial extension of the country, its relief, geography, and other factors. Since the most common COVID-19 symptoms are related to the respiratory system, many researchers have studied the correlation between the number of COVID-19 cases with meteorological variables like temperature, humidity, rainfall, etc. Also, due to its high transmission rate, some researchers have analyzed the impact of human mobility on the dynamics of COVID-19 transmission. There is a dearth of literature that considers these two variables when predicting the spread of COVID-19 cases. In this paper, we analyzed the correlation between the number of COVID-19 cases and human mobility, and meteorological data in Brazilian capitals. We found that the correlation between such variables depends on the regions where the cities are located. We employed the variables with a significant correlation with COVID-19 cases to predict the number of COVID-19 infections in all Brazilian capitals and proposed a prediction method combining the Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD) method with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Exogenous inputs (ARIMAX) method, which we called EEMD-ARIMAX. After analyzing the results poor predictions were further investigated using a signal processing-based anomaly detection method. Computational tests showed that EEMD-ARIMAX achieved a forecast 26.73% better than ARIMAX. Moreover, an improvement of 30.69% in the average root mean squared error (RMSE) was noticed when applying the EEMD-ARIMAX method to the data normalized after the anomaly detection. In the field of detection and prediction of company defaults and bankruptcy, significant effort has been devoted to evaluating financial ratios as predictors using statistical models and machine learning techniques. This problem becomes crucially important when financial decision-makers are provided with predictions on which to act, based on the output of prediction models. However, research has shown that such predictors are sufficiently accurate in the short-term, with the focus mainly directed towards large and medium-large companies. In contrast, in this paper, we focus on mid- and long-term bankruptcy prediction (up to 60 months) targeting small and/or medium enterprises. The key contribution of this study is a substantial improvement of the prediction accuracy in the short-term (12 months) using machine learning techniques, compared to the state-of-the-art, while also making accurate mid- and long-term predictions (measure of the area under the ROC curve of 0.88 with a 60 month prediction horizon). Extensive computational tests on the entire set of companies in Italy highlight the efficiency and accuracy of the developed method, as well as demonstrating the possibility of using it as a tool for the development of strategies and policies for entire economic systems. This paper presents a novel architecture for dealing with Automatic Fake News detection. The architecture factors in the discourse structure of news in traditional digital media and is based on two premises. First, fake news tends to mix true and false information with the purpose of confusing readers. Second, this research is focused on fake news delivered in traditional digital media, so our approach considers the influence of the journalistic structure of news, and the way journalists tend to introduce the essential content in a news story using 5W1H answer. Considering both premises, this proposal deals with the news components separately because some may be true or false, instead of considering the veracity value of the news article as a unit. A two-layer architecture is proposed, Structure and Veracity layers. To demonstrate the validity of the proposal, a new dataset was created and annotated with a new fine-grained annotation scheme (FNDeepML) that considers the different elements of the news document and their veracity. Due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, health is the chosen domain, and Spanish is the language used to validate the architecture, given the lack of research in this language. However, the proposal can be applied to any other language or domain. The performance of the Veracity layer of our proposal, which factors in the traditional news article structure and the 5W1H annotation, is capable of delivering a result of F 1 =0.807. This represents a strong improvement when compared to the baseline, which uses the whole document with a single veracity value, obtaining F 1 =0.605.
