For lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors in hybrid power storage facilities, both steady degradation and random shock contribute to their failure. To this end, in this paper, we propose to introduce the degradation-threshold-shock (DTS) model for their remaining useful life (RUL) prediction. Non-homogeneous compound Poisson process (NHCP) is proposed to simulate the shock effect in the DTS model. Considering the long-range dependence and heavy-tailed characteristics of the degradation process, fractional Weibull process (fWp) is employed in the diffusion term of the stochastic degradation model. Furthermore, the drift and diffusion coefficients are constantly updated to describe the environmental interference. Prior to the model training, steady degradation and shock data must be separated, based on the three-sigma principle. Degradation data for the lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and ultracapacitors are employed for model verification under different operation protocols in the power system. Roller bearing degradation features fractal characteristics such as self-similarity and long-range dependence (LRD). However, the existing remaining useful life (RUL) prediction models are memoryless or short-range dependent. To this end, we propose a RUL prediction model based on fractional Brownian motion (FBM). Bearing faults can happen in different places, and thus their degradation features are difficult to extract accurately. Through variational mode decomposition (VMD), the original degradation feature is decomposed into several components of different frequencies. The monotonicity, robustness and trends of the different components are calculated. The frequency component with the best metric values is selected as the training data. In this way, the performance of the prediction model is hugely improved. The unknown parameters in the degradation model are estimated by the maximum likelihood algorithm. In this paper, a fractional Weibull process is utilized in a predictive stochastic differential equation model to allow for skewness and heavy-tailed characteristics. To this aim, a fractional Weibull process with non-Gaussian characteristics and a long memory effect is proposed to drive the predictive stochastic differential equation. The difference iterative forecasting model is proposed as its stochastic difference scheme. The consistency, stability, and convergence of the model are analyzed. In the proposed model, variational mode decomposition is utilized as the data preprocessing approach to separate the stationary and non-stationary components. Remaining useful life prediction guarantees a reliable and safe operation of turbofan engines. Long-range dependence (LRD) and heavy-tailed characteristics of degradation modeling make this method advantageous for the prediction of RUL. In this study, we propose fractional Lévy stable motion for degradation modeling. First, we define fractional Lévy stable motion simulation algorithms. Then, we demonstrate the LRD and heavy-tailed property of fLsm to provide support for the model. The proposed method is validated with the C-MAPSS dataset obtained from the turbofan engine. Principle components analysis (PCA) is conducted to extract sources of variance. The remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of wind turbine planetary gearboxes is crucial for the reliable operation of new energy power systems. However, the interpretability of the current RUL prediction models is not satisfactory. To this end, a multi-stage RUL prediction model is proposed in this work, with an interpretable metric-based feature selection algorithm. In the proposed model, the advantages of neural networks and long-range-dependent stochastic processes are combined. In the offline training stage, a general representation of the degradation trend is learned with the meta-long short-term memory neural network (meta-LSTM) model. The inevitable measurement error in the sensor reading is modelled by white Gaussian noise. During the online RUL prediction stage, fractional generalized Pareto motion (fGPm) with an adaptive diffusion is employed to model the stochasticity of the planetary gearbox degradation. The capacity regeneration phenomenon is often overlooked in terms of prediction of the remaining useful life (RUL) of LIBs for acceptable fitting between real and predicted results. In this study, we suggest a novel method for quantitative estimation of the associated uncertainty with the RUL, which is based on adaptive fractional Lévy stable motion (AfLSM) and integrated with the Mellin–Stieltjes transform and Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed degradation model exhibits flexibility for capturing long-range dependence, has a non-Gaussian distribution, and accurately describes heavy-tailed properties. Additionally, the nonlinear drift coefficients of the model can be adaptively updated on the basis of the degradation trajectory. The performance of the proposed RUL prediction model was verified by using the University of Maryland CALEC dataset. Currently, residual useful life (RUL) prediction models for insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) do not focus on the multi-modal characteristics caused by the pulse-width modulation (PWM). To fill this gap, the Markovian stochastic process is proposed to model the mode transition process, due to the memoryless properties of the grid operation. For the estimation of the mode transition probabilities, transfer learning is utilized between different control signals. With the continuous mode switching, fractional Weibull motion (fWm) of multiple modes is established to model the stochasticity of the multi-modal IGBT degradation. The drift and diffusion coefficients are adaptively updated in the proposed RUL prediction model. In the case study, two sets of the real thermal-accelerated IGBT aging data are used. Different degradation modes are extracted from the meta degradation data, and then fused to be a complex health indicator (CHI) via a multi-sensor fusion algorithm. The RUL prediction model based on the fWm of multiple modes can reach a maximum relative prediction error of 2.96% and a mean relative prediction error of 1.78%. Power from solar energy is not reliable, due to weather-related factors, which diminishes the power system's reliability. Therefore, this study suggests a way to predict the intensity of solar irradiance using various statistical algorithms and artificial intelligence. In particular, we suggest the use of a hybrid predictive model, combining statistical properties and historical data training. In order to evaluate the maximum prediction steps of solar irradiance, the maximum Lyapunov exponent was applied. Then, we used the cosine similarity algorithm in the hidden Markov model for the initial prediction. The combination of the Hurst exponent and tail parameter revealed the self-similarity and long-range dependence of the fractional generalized Pareto motion, which enabled us to consider the iterative predictive model. The initial prediction was substituted into a stochastic differential equation to achieve the final prediction, which prevents error propagation. Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction is important for wind turbine operation and maintenance. The degradation process of gearboxes in wind turbines is a slowly and randomly changing process with long-range dependence (LRD). The degradation trend of the gearbox is constantly changing, and a single drift coefficient is not accurate enough to describe the degradation trend. This paper proposes an original adaptive generalized Cauchy (GC) model with LRD and randomness to predict the RUL of wind turbine gearboxes. The LRD is explained jointly by the fractal dimension and the Hurst exponent, and the randomness is explained by the diffusion term driven by the GC difference time sequence. The estimated value of the unknown parameter of adaptive GC model is deduced, and the specific expression of the RUL estimation is deduced. The adaptability is manifested in the time-varying drift coefficient of the GC model: by continuously updating the drift coefficient to adapt to the change in the degradation trend, the adaptive GC model offers high accuracy in the prediction of the degradation trend. In this paper, an efficient prediction model based on the fractional generalized Pareto motion (fGPm) with Long-Range Dependent (LRD) and infinite variance characteristics is proposed. Firstly, we discuss the meaning of each parameter of the generalized Pareto distribution (GPD), and the LRD characteristics of the generalized Pareto motion are analyzed by taking into account the heavy-tailed characteristics of its distribution. Then, the mathematical relationship H = 1 ⁄ α between the self-similar parameter H and the tail parameter α is obtained. Also, the generalized Pareto increment distribution is obtained using statistical methods, which offers the subsequent derivation of the iterative forecasting model based on the increment form. Secondly, the tail parameter α is introduced to generalize the integral expression of the fractional Brownian motion, and the integral expression of fGPm is obtained. Then, by discretizing the integral expression of fGPm, the statistical characteristics of infinite variance is shown. In addition, in order to study the LRD prediction characteristic of fGPm, LRD and self-similarity analysis are performed on fGPm, and the LRD prediction conditions H > 1 ⁄ α is obtained. Compared to the fractional Brownian motion describing LRD by a self-similar parameter H , fGPm introduces the tail parameter α , which increases the flexibility of the LRD description. However, the two parameters are not independent, because of the LRD condition H > 1 ⁄ α . An iterative prediction model is obtained from the Langevin-type stochastic differential equation driven by fGPm. The prediction model inherits the LRD condition H > 1 ⁄ α of fGPm and the time series, simulated by the Monte Carlo method, shows the superiority of the prediction model to predict data with high jumps. Finally, this paper uses power load data in two different situations (weekdays and weekends), used to verify the validity and general applicability of the forecasting model, which is compared with the fractional Brown prediction model, highlighting the "high jump data prediction advantage" of the fGPm prediction model.
