- Abstract
The meaning of the word in general is determined by the interaction of three factors: ontological, notional and functional. The latter gives to the lexical meaning a single character, the national specificity. As a whole, we can assign the same statements with some retentions and to the stable polilexical units (SPU). Ontological and functional factor is characteristic to the connotative and denominative SPU. Idiomatic meaning is proper SPU forming the full meaning of the glottic unit. Referring to the words we can speak about their lexical and motivational meanings; concerning SPU, we discuss phraseological, motivational and lexical meaning. Within the framework of SPU, where parts or components have retained significance, but where there is no image, we have lexical and motivational meaning. In the SPU where components kept their meaning and connotation, there are lexical, phraseological and motivational meanings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
