Background: Regulatory bodies have recently approved chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies for patients with multiple myeloma (MM), but the treatment process involves complex decision making. To support the introduction of these therapies, we aimed to establish consensus expert opinion on best practices of all aspects of the management of patients with MM undergoing CAR-T cell therapy in Australia. Methods: We conducted a modified RAND/UCLA two-round Delphi panel informed by a systematic literature review (SLR). The SLR included evidence from clinical practice guidelines, interventional trials, and observational studies for CAR-T cell therapy for patients with MM, to synthesize methodological aspects of CAR-T cell therapy related to patient management. The Delphi panel comprised eight hematologists from across Australia, each with significant experience directly treating patients using CAR-T therapy or referring patients for CAR-T cell therapy. Panelists completed the surveys electronically, and attended a virtual meeting held before the second-round questionnaire to discuss the first-round questionnaire responses. Consensus was defined a priori as at least 70% agreement on survey questions. Results: The SLR identified 22 interventional or observational studies and 5 clinical practice guidelines reporting on selection and management of patients with MM treated with CAR-T cell therapy from various global regions. The Delphi panel reached consensus on practices related to patient referral, screening, selection, prioritization, treatments requiring wash-out, bridging therapy, lymphodepletion, infusion, and post-infusion monitoring and management. Most consensus results aligned with consistently recommended practices within guidelines included in the SLR. Consensus was not reached for statements related to specific screening practices and post-treatment monitoring, suggesting differing opinions on the specific best practices to implement. Conclusion: Our Delphi panel established expert consensus on key considerations for patient selection, administrative processes, and aftercare for patients with MM in Australia undergoing CAR-T therapy. Background: Emerging surgical methods are utilized to treat endometrial cancer. The study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of four common surgical methods of hysterectomy. Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed, Cochrane Library databases, Medline, EMBASE and Web of Science from their inception until April 30, 2024. We used hazard ratios (HR) for overall survival (OS) and disease-free (DFS), odds ratios (OR) for categorical outcomes, and mean differences (MD) for continuous outcomes with 95% confidence intervals. These were pooled in Bayesian network meta-analysis models. The surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) was used to illuminate the probability that each method would be the best for each outcome. Results: Thirty studies comprising 13446 patients were included. Robotic hysterectomy (RH) retrieved fewer pelvic lymph nodes than open hysterectomy (OH). OH showed a significantly higher postoperative complication rate than laparoscopic hysterectomy (LH) and RH. LH had a higher intraoperative complication rate than OH. According to SUCRA values, OH ranked the highest in the number of retrieved pelvic lymph nodes (0.89), intraoperative complications (0.73), and operative time (0.97). LH ranked the highest in DFS (0.81) and overall survival (OS) (0.87). RH ranked the highest in the postoperative complications (0.95). Laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) ranked the highest in number of retrieved para-aortic lymph nodes (0.72). Conclusions: There are no significant differences among the four surgical methods in DFS or OS. The use of uterine manipulators does not affect prognosis. OH is the best method for shortening operative time, dissecting the pelvic lymph nodes and controlling intraoperative complications. LH and LAVH have an advantage in para-aortic lymph node dissection. Besides, LH has the best advantage in DFS and OS. RH has advantages in controlling surgical complications. Background: Radiomics has emerged as a promising approach for diagnosing, treating, and evaluating the prognosis of various diseases in recent years. Some investigators have utilized radiomics to create preoperative diagnostic models for tumor deposits (TDs) and perineural invasion (PNI) in rectal cancer (RC). However, there is currently a lack of comprehensive, evidence-based support for the diagnostic performance of these models. Thus, the accuracy of radiomic models was assessed in diagnosing preoperative RC TDs and PNI in this study. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant articles from their establishment up to December 11, 2023. The radiomics quality score (RQS) was used to evaluate the risk of bias in the methodological quality and research level of the included studies. Results: This meta-analysis included 15 eligible studies, most of which employed logistic regression models (LRMs). For diagnosing TDs, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on radiomic features (RFs) alone were 0.85 (95% CI: 0.79 - 0.90), 0.85 (95% CI: 0.75 - 0.91), and 0.82 (95% CI: 0.70 - 0.89); in the validation set, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on both RFs and interpretable CFs were 0.87 (95% CI: 0.83 - 0.91), 0.91 (95% CI: 0.72 - 0.99), and 0.65 (95% CI: 0.53 - 0.76), respectively. For diagnosing PNI, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on RFs alone were 0.80 (95% CI: 0.74 - 0.86), 0.64 (95% CI: 0.44 - 0.80), and 0.79 (95% CI: 0.68 - 0.87) in the validation set; in the validation set, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on both RFs and interpretable CFs were 0.83 (95% CI: 0.77 - 0.89), 0.60 (95% CI: 0.48 - 0.71), and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.84 - 0.94), respectively. Conclusions: Diagnostic models based on both RFs and CFs have proven effective in preoperatively diagnosing TDs and PNI in RC. This non-invasive method shows promise as a new approach. Background: Despite the availability of vaccination and early treatment, cervical cancer remains a significant public health concern globally, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, where access to screening and treatment is often limited. Methods: In this study, researchers conducted a survey of four international databases—Medline/PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Henare—along with Google Scholar to search for gray literature. The keywords used for searching the international databases included "Uterine Cervical Neoplasms [Mesh]," "Survival OR Survival Analysis OR Survival Rate," and "Sub-Saharan countries" (including the names of specific countries). Six researchers independently screened and extracted data from the articles. All studies published in English were included without restriction and assessed for quality using the adapted Newcastle–Ottawa Scale for cohort and cross-sectional studies. The results of this systematic review were reported in accordance with the PRISMA checklist. Results: Out of the 2,180 articles initially identified, 23 were deemed eligible and reported on the survival status of patients with cervical cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa. This study assessed the multi-year survival rates (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years) of patients with cervical cancer. Based on the random-effects model, the overall pooled 1-year survival was 65.0% [95% confidence interval (CI), 52–78] with I² = 99.31 and p-value < 0.001. The 2-year survival rate was 60% (95% CI, 46–74) with I² = 99.12 and p-value < 0.001, the 3-year survival was 48% (95% CI, 35–62) with I² = 98.45 and p-value < 0.001, the 4-year survival was 42.9% (95% CI, 32.7–53.1) with I² = 96.80 and p-value < 0.001, and the 5-year survival was 35% (95% CI, 27–44) with I² = 98.74 and p-value < 0.001. Conclusions: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that the survival rates for patients with cervical cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa are much lower than the global averages. The results show that the 5-year survival rate can be as low as 35%, highlighting serious challenges in managing cervical cancer in this region. To address this issue, collaboration among governments, healthcare providers, and international organizations is essential to enhance the availability and quality of care. Background: Breast cancer (BC), as a leading cause of cancer mortality in women, demands robust prediction models for early diagnosis and personalized treatment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms offer promising solutions for automated survival prediction, driving this study's systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: Three online databases (Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus) were comprehensively searched (January 2016-August 2023) using key terms ("Breast Cancer", "Survival Prediction", and "Machine Learning") and their synonyms. Original articles applying ML algorithms for BC survival prediction using clinical data were included. The quality of studies was assessed via the Qiao Quality Assessment tool. Results: Amongst 140 identified articles, 32 met the eligibility criteria. Analyzed ML methods achieved a mean validation accuracy of 89.73%. Hybrid models, combining traditional and modern ML techniques, were mostly considered to predict survival rates (40.62%). Supervised learning was the dominant ML paradigm (75%). Common ML methodologies included pre-processing, feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and classification. Deep Learning (DL), particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), emerged as the preferred modern algorithm within these methodologies. Notably, 81.25% of studies relied on internal validation, primarily using K-fold cross-validation and train/test split strategies. Conclusion: The findings underscore the significant potential of AI-based algorithms in enhancing the accuracy of BC survival predictions. However, to ensure the robustness and generalizability of these predictive models, future research should emphasize the importance of rigorous external validation. Background: Skull base tumors represent a small subset of intracranial neoplasm. Due to their proximity to critical neurovascular structures, their resection often leads to morbidity. As a result, surgical interventions can exacerbate symptoms or cause new deficits, thereby impacting the patients' perceived quality of life (QoL). The factors influencing QoL in patients with skull base tumors remain underexplored. This systematic review aims to synthesize current research on QoL outcomes and identify potential factors influencing QoL in these patients. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed using the keywords "Skull Base" AND "Quality of Life." A total of 815 studies published up to January 31, 2024, were screened. After abstract review, 656 studies were excluded, and 159 studies underwent full-text review. The wide variability in study methodologies and utilized QoL instruments made only a descriptive comparison possible. Results: In total, 113 studies were systematically reviewed. Publications focusing on the same tumor type or localization were compared. The majority of studies addressed tumors of the anterior skull base, with pituitary adenomas, meningiomas and vestibular schwannomas being the most commonly represented. The impact of surgery on QoL is often underestimated by caregivers and has a more profound effect on patients than expected by surgeons. A transient decline in QoL after surgery was observed across almost all studies regardless of localization and entity. Factors influencing QoL included age, gender, tumor localization, surgical approach, tumor type, extent of resection, preoperative clinical status and neurological deficits. Radiotherapy and recurrent surgeries were predictors of poorer QoL. Early psychological intervention in complex tumors appears to enhance QoL. Some successful sealing techniques, such as nasoseptal flaps and lumbar drains, affected QoL. However, variability in study methodologies reduced the validity of the findings. Conclusion: This review highlights the significant impact of skull base tumor surgery on patients' QoL. Given the major oncological and surgical challenges presented by skull base tumors, their treatment significantly affects QoL, and gross total resection (GTR) should not always be the primary goal. Background: Lung cancer possesses the highest incidence and mortality rates among malignancies globally. Despite substantial advancements in oncology, it is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over recent decades, the swift progress of nanotechnology has precipitated the extensive utilization of nanomaterials as carriers in cancer diagnosis and therapy. The deployment of nanoparticles as an innovative diagnostic strategy aspires to enable the earlier detection of lung cancer, thereby permitting earlier intervention and enhancing prognosis. This study endeavors to deepen our understanding of this domain through a comprehensive analysis employing bibliometric tools. Method: Related articles were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection from January 1st, 2006, to December 14st, 2023. Thereaf CiteSpace, VOSviewer and the online platform of bibliometrics (http://bibliometric.com/) were utilized to visually analyze Author/Country/Institutions/Cited Journals/Keyword, et al. Results: A total of 966 articles were retrieved for this study. The analysis unveils a progressive increase in annual publications within this field, with China at the forefront in publication volume, followed by the United States and India. Moreover, Chinese research institutions, notably the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, prevail in publication output. Upon exclusion of irrelevant search terms, keywords clustering analysis highlights that "biomarkers", "sensors", "gold nanoparticles", and "silver nanoparticles" are predominant research focuses. Conclusion: This bibliometric study furnishes a quantitative perspective on the extant literature, serving scholars in related fields. Background: The limitations of the traditional TNM system have spurred interest in multivariable models for personalized prognostication in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers (LSCC/HPSCC). However, the performance of these models depends on the quality of data and modelling methodology, affecting their potential for clinical adoption. This systematic review and meta-analysis (SR-MA) evaluated clinical predictive models (CPMs) for recurrence and survival in treated LSCC/HPSCC. We assessed models' characteristics and methodologies, as well as performance, risk of bias (RoB), and applicability. Methods: Literature searches were conducted in MEDLINE (OVID), Embase (OVID) and IEEE databases from January 2005 to November 2023. The search algorithm used comprehensive text word and index term combinations without language or publication type restrictions. Independent reviewers screened titles and abstracts using a predefined Population, Index, Comparator, Outcomes, Timing and Setting (PICOTS) framework. We included externally validated (EV) multivariable models, with at least one clinical predictor, that provided recurrence or survival predictions. The SR-MA followed PRISMA reporting guidelines, and PROBAST framework for RoB assessment. Model discrimination was assessed using C-index/AUC, and was presented for all models using forest plots. MA was only performed for models that were externally validated in two or more cohorts, using random-effects model. The main outcomes were model discrimination and calibration measures for survival (OS) and/or local recurrence (LR) prediction. All measures and assessments were preplanned prior to data collection. Results: The SR-MA identified 11 models, reported in 16 studies. Seven models for OS showed good discrimination on development, with only one excelling (C-index >0.9), and three had weak or poor discrimination. Inclusion of a radiomics score as a model parameter achieved relatively better performance. Most models had poor generalisability, demonstrated by worse discrimination performance on EV, but they still outperformed the TNM system. Only two models met the criteria for MA, with pooled EV AUCs 0.73 (95% CI 0.71-0.76) and 0.67 (95% CI 0.6-0.74). RoB was high for all models, particularly in the analysis domain. Conclusions: This review highlighted the shortcomings of currently available models, while emphasizing the need for rigorous independent evaluations. Despite the proliferation of models, most exhibited methodological limitations and bias. Currently, no models can confidently be recommended for routine clinical use. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs versus Chinese herbs alone in treating uterine fibroids. Methods: A literature search of eight databases identified nine randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs compared to Chinese herbs alone for treating uterine fibroids. Subsequently, data extraction and analysis were conducted to assess the methodological quality and risk of bias in the studies, followed by an analysis of the data from the randomized controlled trials. Results: Nine randomized controlled trials involving 640 women were included. The results indicated that acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs significantly increased the overall clinical efficacy rate [Z=5.00, P=0.74, relative risk(RR)1.20, 95%CI 1.12 to 1.30, P<0.00001, I²=0%] and reduced the size of uterine fibroids [Z=2.95, P=0.003, SMD=-0.82, 95%CI -1.36 to -0.27, P<0.00001, I²=90%]. Conclusions: Studies have shown that acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs reduces uterine size, lowers hormone levels, and improves quality of life. According to the findings of this study, acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs has a more positive effect on the treatment of uterine fibroids than Chinese herbs alone. However, due to the limited number and quality of the included studies, these conclusions need to be validated by further high-quality research. Background: Peritoneal metastasis is one of the most common modes of spread of gastric cancer. Currently, surgical treatment combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and systemic chemotherapy has demonstrated promising outcomes in both the treatment and prevention of peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer. However, various HIPEC drug regimens are in clinical use, and their efficacy remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different HIPEC drug regimens in patients with advanced gastric cancer to determine the optimal therapeutic approach. Methods: This study conducted a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis. Patients in the experimental group underwent surgery combined with HIPEC and chemotherapy. The search period covered literature from database inception to June 1, 2024. Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate overall survival (OS) as the primary outcome. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% CIs were used to assess overall disease recurrence, peritoneal recurrence, and postoperative morbidity as secondary outcomes. To ensure scientific rigor and transparency, this study has been registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024533948). Results: A total of 11 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1092 patients were included. Compared to surgery combined with chemotherapy, the regimens of cisplatin (HRs = 0.52, 95% CI: 0.38-0.73), mitomycin C (HRs = 0.99, 95% CI: 0.55-1.79), cisplatin plus fluorouracil (HRs = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38-0.95), and oxaliplatin plus 5-fluorouracil (HRs = 0.53, 95% CI: 0.36-0.78) all demonstrated benefits in OS. The cisplatin (ORs = 0.16, 95% CI: 0.03-0.60) and mitomycin C (ORs = 0.03, 95% CI: 0-0.71) regimens also showed advantages in reducing peritoneal recurrence, with no impact on postoperative morbidity. Importantly, the cisplatin regimen was superior to other regimens in terms of OS and overall disease recurrence, achieving a balance between efficacy and safety. Conclusions: Compared to chemotherapy alone, HIPEC treatment shows significant benefits in OS without a notable disadvantage in postoperative morbidity. Although no single HIPEC regimen demonstrated clear benefits across all outcomes, the cisplatin regimen performed well in multiple aspects, indicating its potential for further research and clinical application. Objective: This study aims at evaluating and juxtaposing the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) for hepatic metastases treatment. Methods: We undertook an extensive literature search across the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, CNKI, and databases for studies published up to December 2023, assessing the outcomes of RFA versus MWA in hepatic metastases treatment. Studies were included or excluded based on established criteria. Continuous variables were analyzed with the aid of the weighted mean difference (WMD) and its 95% confidence interval (CI), while the odds ratio (OR) with its 95% CI was utilized for dichotomous variables. Data were processed by use of STATA 17.0 software. Key outcomes assessed included ablation time, post-operative local tumor progression (LTP), disease-free survival (DFS), and post-operative complications (POCs). Results: Seven studies, comprising 357 patients undergoing MWA and 452 patients undergoing RFA, fulfilled the inclusion criteria. As unveiled by the meta-analysis, RFA and MWA did not significantly differ in ablation time, DFS, and POCs. Nonetheless, MWA resulted in a strikingly reduced rate of post-operative LTP versus RFA. Conclusion: MWA offers superior control over post-operative LTP, suggesting better overall efficacy in hepatic metastases treatment compared with RFA. Objective: The objective of this meta-analysis is to assess the efficacy of radiomics techniques utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for predicting lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) in patients with cervical cancer (CC). Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, Scopus, CNKI, and Wanfang, with studies published up to 08/04/2024, being considered for inclusion. The meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15 and Review Manager 5.4. The quality of the included studies was evaluated using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 and Radiomics Quality Score tools. The analysis encompassed the pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR). Summary ROC curves were constructed, and the AUC was calculated. Heterogeneity was investigated using meta-regression. Statistical significance was set at p = 0.05. Results: There were 13 studies involving a total of 2,245 patients that were included in the meta-analysis. The overall sensitivity and specificity of the MRIbased model in the Training set were 83% (95% CI: 77%-87%) and 72% (95% CI: 74%-88%), respectively. The AUC, DOR, PLR, and NLR of the MRI-based model in the Training set were 0.89 (95% CI: 0.86-0.91), 22 (95% CI: 12-40), 4.6 (95% CI: 3.1-7.0), and 0.21 (95% CI: 0.16-0.29), respectively. Subgroup analysis revealed that the AUC of the model combining radiomics with clinical factors [0.90 (95% CI: 0.87-0.93)] was superior to models based on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) sequence [0.78 (95% CI: 0.74-0.81)], contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging (T1WI-CE) sequence [0.85 (95% CI: 0.82-0.88)], and multiple sequences [0.86 (95% CI: 0.82-0.89)] in the Training set. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of the model integrating radiomics with clinical factors [83% (95% CI: 73%-89%) and 86% (95% CI: 73%-93%)] surpassed those of models based on the T2WI sequence [79% (95% CI: 71%-85%) and 72% (95% CI: 67%-76%)], T1WI-CE sequence [78% (95% CI: 67%-86%) and 78% (95% CI: 68%-86%)], and multiple sequences [78% (95% CI: 67%-87%) and 79% (95% CI: 70%-87%)], respectively. Funnel plot analysis indicated an absence of publication bias (p > 0.05). Conclusion: MRI-based radiomics demonstrates excellent diagnostic performance in predicting LVSI in CC patients. Background: Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy(ICBT) improves the impact of breast cancer through online platforms, modular learning, goal setting, relaxation exercises, and other techniques. Compared to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), ICBT offers advantages such as the convenience of flexible time and location choices and reduced manpower requirements. In recent years, research exploring the impact of ICBT on breast cancer patients has been increasing, with conflicting results across different studies. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to comprehensively examine the impact of ICBT on the psychological health and quality of life of breast cancer patients through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: We searched ten databases in both English and Chinese, with the search period extending from the inception of the databases to December 30, 2023. Literature screening, bias risk assessment, data extraction, and evidence level evaluation were independently conducted by two researchers. All the data were analyzed using RevMan 5.4 and Stata 17.0 software. Results: A total of 2079 breast cancer patients were included in this study, of which 1171 patients received ICBT treatment. The results show that ICBT can reduce anxiety [SMD=-0.19, 95%CI (-0.37, -0.01), P=0.0008] and depression [SMD=-0.20, 95%CI (-0.37, -0.02), P=0.001], alleviate fatigue [SMD=-0.34, 95% CI (-0.67, -0.01), P=0.04], and improve quality of life [SMD=0.20, 95% CI (0.03, 0.38), P=0.02] in breast cancer patients. However, the intervention effects of ICBT on insomnia [SMD=-0.44, 95%CI (-0.93, 0.06), P=0.08] and sleep quality [SMD=-0.14, 95%CI (-0.30, 0.01), P=0.06] in breast cancer patients are not significant. The subgroup analysis showed that when the intervention period is longer than 8 weeks, the number of intervention modules exceeds 6, and a waitlist control group is included, there is a significant effect on reducing patients' anxiety and depression. However, the method of guidance and whether the intervention period exceeds 12 weeks are not related. Conclusion: ICBT can alleviate anxiety and depression in breast cancer patients, with the intervention effects being independent of the guidance method. Significant results were obtained when the intervention period was >8 weeks and the number of modules was >6. ICBT can reduce fatigue and improve quality of life in breast cancer patients, but its impact on sleep quality was not significant. More high-quality research is needed in the future. Background: Recent studies have yielded conflicting results regarding the relationship between smoking history and the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for advanced lung cancer. While some studies have suggested that smoking may enhance the response to immunotherapy in patients with lung cancer, other findings indicate the contrary. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to thoroughly examine this association. Methods: We searched the PubMed, Embase, and Scopus databases for clinical trials comparing immunotherapy with conventional chemotherapy as the primary treatment for advanced lung cancer. A random effects model was used to synthesize hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for overall survival (OS). We also conducted predefined subgroup analyses to investigate the efficacy disparities between never-smokers and smokers who were administered immunotherapy alone or in combination with chemotherapy, as well as the differences between former and current smokers under similar treatment modalities. Results: Our analysis included data from 17 Phase III clinical trials involving 10,283 patients. The findings indicate that immunotherapy benefits both smokers and never-smokers with lung cancer or non-small cell lung cancer, yielding pooled HRs for OS of 0.74 (95% CI: 0.59-0.92) and 0.73 (95% CI: 0.67-0.80), respectively. A significant interaction effect was not observed (HR: 0.98, 95% CI: 0.77-1.24, pinteraction = 0.14), and the tumor type, immunotherapy combination, and type of immunotherapy did not differ among the groups in the subgroup analyses. Similarly, both former and current smokers experienced a significant survival benefit from immunotherapy, with pooled HRs for OS of 0.79 (95% CI: 0.68-0.91) and 0.71 (95% CI: 0.59-0.87), respectively. However, a significant interaction effect was also not observed (HR: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.74-1.11, pinteraction = 0.14). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that smoking status does not affect the effectiveness of immunotherapy for lung cancer treatment. Background: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the lymph node ratio (LNR) and the prognostic values of gynecological cancer. Materials and Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Central Cochrane Library were used to search for studies on LNR and gynecological cancer published before 18 April 2024. The effect measure for meta-analysis of primary outcomes was the hazard ratio (HR) for overall survival (OS), progressionfree survival (PFS), and disease-free survival (DFS). Pooled HRs and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using random- or fixed-effects models. Sensitivity analysis was applied to evaluate the robustness of the results. The I2 statistic was used to measure heterogeneity. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression were chosen to illustrate the potential heterogeneity of the risk factors for outcomes. Publication bias was assessed using Egger's test and Begg's funnel plots. Results: A total of 34 studies with 23,202 cases were included in this metaanalysis. A meta-analysis found that higher LNR was associated with worse OS (HR = 2.42, 95% CI: 2.07-2.83; I2 = 77.4%, p < 0.05), PFS (HR = 1.97, 95% CI: 1.66-2.32; I2 = 0.00%, p > 0.05), and DFS (HR = 3.18, 95% CI: 2.12-4.76; I2 = 64.3%, p < 0.05). Moreover, meta-analysis revealed significant differences in the association between LNR and OS of cervical cancer (CC) (HR = 2.53, 95% CI: 1.94-3.31; I2 = 72.6%, p < 0.05), ovarian cancer (OC) (HR = 2.05, 95% CI: 1.66-2.54; I2 = 76.7%, p < 0.05), endometrial cancer (EC) (HR = 2.16, 95% CI: 1.48-3.16; I2 = 53.6%, p < 0.05), and vulvar cancer (VC) (HR = 8.13, 95% CI: 3.41-19.43; I2 = 57.2%, p < 0.05). Conclusion: We observed a clear association between higher LNR and poorer prognosis in our study of patients with gynecological cancer. Further prospective studies are warranted to determine the optimal LNR and whether LNR can guide adjuvant therapy use in gynecological cancer. It is essential to conduct further prospective studies to establish the optimal LNR threshold, determine the minimum threshold of lymph node removal, and investigate whether LNR can serve as a reliable marker for guiding adjuvant therapy choices in gynecological cancer. Objective: To summarize stage migration and survival outcomes in patients with cervical cancer at Stage IIIC according to the 2018 FIGO staging system, and to investigate prognostic factors influencing Stage IIIC1. Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP), and Clinical Trials.gov were searched from inception to February 6, 2024. The analysis was conducted using STATA 16.0. Results: A total of 25 studies with 82954 cervical cancer patients were included in the analysis. The migration rates to FIGO 2018 Stage IIIC ranged from 18% to 37% for early-stage tumors (Stage IB to IIA) in FIGO 2009, and from 32% to 52% for advanced stage tumors (Stage IIB to IIIB). The overall survival (OS) for Stage IIIC1 is poorer compared to Stage IB1 (HR 0.53, 95% CI 0.35-0.80, p=0.003) and Stage IB2 (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.43-0.85, p=0.004). It is comparable to Stage IB3, yet it shows better survival outcomes than Stages IIB (HR 2.91, 95% CI 1.01-8.39, p=0.047), IIIA (HR 1.96, 95% CI 1.78-2.17, p=0.000), and IIIB (HR 1.56, 95% CI 1.04-2.35, p=0.031). Tumors size =4cm (HR 1.45, 95% CI 1.10-1.92, p=0.00), metastatic lymph node = 3 (HR 2.21, 95% CI 1.56-3.15, p=0.000) and T stage are prognostic factors for OS of Stage IIIC1. Conclusions: The migration rates to FIGO 2018 Stage IIIC varied between 18% and 52% for patients initially classified under FIGO 2009 Stages IB1 to IIIB. The FIGO 2018 staging system underscores the pivotal role of lymph node metastasis in predicting prognosis and provides valuable insights into the distinct prognostic implications associated with different stages, particularly for early stages. Objective: The lymphocyte-to-C-reactive protein (LCR) ratio, an immuneinflammatory marker, shows prognostic potential in various cancers. However, its utility in gastrointestinal malignancies remains uncertain due to inconsistent findings. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizes recent evidence to elucidate the association between LCR and prognosis in gastrointestinal cancer patients, aiming to clarify LCR’s potential role as a prognostic biomarker. Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases up to May 2024 to evaluate the association between LCR and prognosis in gastrointestinal cancer patients. The main outcomes included overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and disease-free survival (DFS). We also analyzed secondary parameters such as geographical region, study duration, sample size, LCR threshold, and patient characteristics (age, gender, tumor location, and TNM stage). Results: This meta-analysis of 21 cohort studies (n=9,131) finds a significant association between reduced LCR levels and poor prognosis in gastrointestinal cancer. Lower LCR levels were associated with worse overall survival (HR=2.01, 95% CI=1.75-2.31, P<0.001), recurrence-free survival (HR=1.90, 95% CI=1.32- 2.76, P<0.001), and disease-free survival (HR=1.76, 95% CI=1.45-2.13, P<0.001). Subgroup analyses by cancer type, timing, and LCR threshold consistently confirmed this relationship (P<0.05). Conclusion: LCR may serve as a prognostic marker in gastrointestinal cancer patients, with lower LCR levels associated with poorer prognosis. BackgroundRegulatory bodies have recently approved chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies for patients with multiple myeloma (MM), but the treatment process involves complex decision making. To support the introduction of these therapies, we aimed to establish consensus expert opinion on best practices of all aspects of the management of patients with MM undergoing CAR-T cell therapy in Australia.MethodsWe conducted a modified RAND/UCLA two-round Delphi panel informed by a systematic literature review (SLR). The SLR included evidence from clinical practice guidelines, interventional trials, and observational studies for CAR-T cell therapy for patients with MM, to synthesize methodological aspects of CAR-T cell therapy related to patient management. The Delphi panel comprised eight hematologists from across Australia, each with significant experience directly treating patients using CAR-T therapy or referring patients for CAR-T cell therapy. Panelists completed the surveys electronically, and attended a virtual meeting held before the second-round questionnaire to discuss the first-round questionnaire responses. Consensus was defined a priori as at least 70% agreement on survey questions.ResultsThe SLR identified 22 interventional or observational studies and 5 clinical practice guidelines reporting on selection and management of patients with MM treated with CAR-T cell therapy from various global regions. The Delphi panel reached consensus on practices related to patient referral, screening, selection, prioritization, treatments requiring wash-out, bridging therapy, lymphodepletion, infusion, and post-infusion monitoring and management. Most consensus results aligned with consistently recommended practices within guidelines included in the SLR. Consensus was not reached for statements related to specific screening practices and post-treatment monitoring, suggesting differing opinions on the specific best practices to implement.ConclusionOur Delphi panel established expert consensus on key considerations for patient selection, administrative processes, and aftercare for patients with MM in Australia undergoing CAR-T therapy. This will guide the development of clinical practice guidelines which are relevant and feasible to Australian health systems.

BackgroundEmerging surgical methods are utilized to treat endometrial cancer. The study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of four common surgical methods of hysterectomy.MethodsWe systematically searched the PubMed, Cochrane Library databases, Medline, EMBASE and Web of Science from their inception until April 30, 2024. We used hazard ratios (HR) for overall survival (OS) and disease-free (DFS), odds ratios (OR) for categorical outcomes, and mean differences (MD) for continuous outcomes with 95% confidence intervals. These were pooled in Bayesian network meta-analysis models. The surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) was used to illuminate the probability that each method would be the best for each outcome.ResultsThirty studies comprising 13446 patients were included. Robotic hysterectomy (RH) retrieved fewer pelvic lymph nodes than open hysterectomy (OH). OH showed a significantly higher postoperative complication rate than laparoscopic hysterectomy (LH) and RH. LH had a higher intraoperative complication rate than OH. According to SUCRA values, OH ranked the highest in the number of retrieved pelvic lymph nodes (0.89), intraoperative complications (0.73), and operative time (0.97). LH ranked the highest in DFS (0.81) and overall survival (OS) (0.87). RH ranked the highest in the postoperative complications (0.95). Laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) ranked the highest in number of retrieved para-aortic lymph nodes (0.72).ConclusionsThere are no significant differences among the four surgical methods in DFS or OS. The use of uterine manipulators does not affect prognosis. OH is the best method for shortening operative time, dissecting the pelvic lymph nodes and controlling intraoperative complications. LH and LAVH have an advantage in para-aortic lymph node dissection. Besides, LH has the best advantage in DFS and OS. BackgroundDespite the availability of vaccination and early treatment, cervical cancer remains a significant public health concern globally, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, where access to screening and treatment is often limited.MethodsIn this study, researchers conducted a survey of four international databases—Medline/PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Henare—along with Google Scholar to search for gray literature. The keywords used for searching the international databases included “Uterine Cervical Neoplasms [Mesh],” “Survival OR Survival Analysis OR Survival Rate,” and “Sub-Saharan countries” (including the names of specific countries). Six researchers independently screened and extracted data from the articles. All studies published in English were included without restriction and assessed for quality using the adapted Newcastle–Ottawa Scale for cohort and cross-sectional studies. The results of this systematic review were reported in accordance with the PRISMA checklist.ResultsOut of the 2,180 articles initially identified, 23 were deemed eligible and reported on the survival status of patients with cervical cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa. This study assessed the multi-year survival rates (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years) of patients with cervical cancer. Based on the random-effects model, the overall pooled 1-year survival was 65.0% [95% confidence interval (CI), 52–78] with I² = 99.31 and p-value < 0.001. The 2-year survival rate was 60% (95% CI, 46–74) with I² = 99.12 and p-value < 0.001, the 3-year survival was 48% (95% CI, 35–62) with I² = 98.45 and p-value < 0.001, the 4-year survival was 42.9% (95% CI, 32.7–53.1) with I² = 96.80 and p-value < 0.001, and the 5-year survival was 35% (95% CI, 27–44) with I² = 98.74 and p-value < 0.001.ConclusionsThis systematic review and meta-analysis found that the survival rates for patients with cervical cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa are much lower than the global averages. The results show that the 5-year survival rate can be as low as 35%, highlighting serious challenges in managing cervical cancer in this region. To address this issue, collaboration among governments, healthcare providers, and international organizations is essential to enhance the availability and quality of care. Future research should focus on developing effective early detection and treatment strategies and monitoring long-term survival outcomes.

BackgroundBreast cancer (BC), as a leading cause of cancer mortality in women, demands robust prediction models for early diagnosis and personalized treatment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms offer promising solutions for automated survival prediction, driving this study’s systematic review and meta-analysis.MethodsThree online databases (Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus) were comprehensively searched (January 2016-August 2023) using key terms (“Breast Cancer”, “Survival Prediction”, and “Machine Learning”) and their synonyms. Original articles applying ML algorithms for BC survival prediction using clinical data were included. The quality of studies was assessed via the Qiao Quality Assessment tool.ResultsAmongst 140 identified articles, 32 met the eligibility criteria. Analyzed ML methods achieved a mean validation accuracy of 89.73%. Hybrid models, combining traditional and modern ML techniques, were mostly considered to predict survival rates (40.62%). Supervised learning was the dominant ML paradigm (75%). Common ML methodologies included pre-processing, feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and classification. Deep Learning (DL), particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), emerged as the preferred modern algorithm within these methodologies. Notably, 81.25% of studies relied on internal validation, primarily using K-fold cross-validation and train/test split strategies.ConclusionThe findings underscore the significant potential of AI-based algorithms in enhancing the accuracy of BC survival predictions. However, to ensure the robustness and generalizability of these predictive models, future research should emphasize the importance of rigorous external validation. BackgroundRadiomics has emerged as a promising approach for diagnosing, treating, and evaluating the prognosis of various diseases in recent years. Some investigators have utilized radiomics to create preoperative diagnostic models for tumor deposits (TDs) and perineural invasion (PNI) in rectal cancer (RC). However, there is currently a lack of comprehensive, evidence-based support for the diagnostic performance of these models. Thus, the accuracy of radiomic models was assessed in diagnosing preoperative RC TDs and PNI in this study.MethodsPubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant articles from their establishment up to December 11, 2023. The radiomics quality score (RQS) was used to evaluate the risk of bias in the methodological quality and research level of the included studies.ResultsThis meta-analysis included 15 eligible studies, most of which employed logistic regression models (LRMs). For diagnosing TDs, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on radiomic features (RFs) alone were 0.85 (95% CI: 0.79 - 0.90), 0.85 (95% CI: 0.75 - 0.91), and 0.82 (95% CI: 0.70 - 0.89); in the validation set, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on both RFs and interpretable CFs were 0.87 (95% CI: 0.83 - 0.91), 0.91 (95% CI: 0.72 - 0.99), and 0.65 (95% CI: 0.53 - 0.76), respectively. For diagnosing PNI, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on RFs alone were 0.80 (95% CI: 0.74 - 0.86), 0.64 (95% CI: 0.44 - 0.80), and 0.79 (95% CI: 0.68 - 0.87) in the validation set; in the validation set, the c-index, sensitivity, and specificity of models based on both RFs and interpretable CFs were 0.83 (95% CI: 0.77 - 0.89), 0.60 (95% CI: 0.48 - 0.71), and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.84 - 0.94), respectively.ConclusionsDiagnostic models based on both RFs and CFs have proven effective in preoperatively diagnosing TDs and PNI in RC. BackgroundSkull base tumors represent a small subset of intracranial neoplasm. Due to their proximity to critical neurovascular structures, their resection often leads to morbidity. As a result, surgical interventions can exacerbate symptoms or cause new deficits, thereby impacting the patients’ perceived quality of life (QoL). The factors influencing QoL in patients with skull base tumors remain underexplored. This systematic review aims to synthesize current research on QoL outcomes and identify potential factors influencing QoL in these patients.MethodsA systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed using the keywords “Skull Base” AND “Quality of Life.” A total of 815 studies published up to January 31, 2024, were screened. After abstract review, 656 studies were excluded, and 159 studies underwent full-text review. The wide variability in study methodologies and utilized QoL instruments made only a descriptive comparison possible.ResultsIn total, 113 studies were systematically reviewed. Publications focusing on the same tumor type or localization were compared. The majority of studies addressed tumors of the anterior skull base, with pituitary adenomas, meningiomas and vestibular schwannomas being the most commonly represented. The impact of surgery on QoL is often underestimated by caregivers and has a more profound effect on patients than expected by surgeons. A transient decline in QoL after surgery was observed across almost all studies regardless of localization and entity. Factors influencing QoL included age, gender, tumor localization, surgical approach, tumor type, extent of resection, preoperative clinical status and neurological deficits. Radiotherapy and recurrent surgeries were predictors of poorer QoL. Early psychological intervention in complex tumors appears to enhance QoL. Some successful sealing techniques, such as nasoseptal flaps and lumbar drains, affected QoL. However, variability in study methodologies reduced the validity of the findings.ConclusionThis review highlights the significant impact of skull base tumor surgery on patients’ QoL. Given the major oncological and surgical challenges presented by skull base tumors, their treatment significantly affects QoL, and gross total resection (GTR) should not always be the primary goal. Additionally, recognizing and addressing the modifiable and non-modifiable factors influencing QoL is crucial for improving patient outcomes and providing personalized care.

Upon exclusion of irrelevant search terms, keywords clustering analysis highlights that “biomarkers”, “sensors”, “gold nanoparticles”, and “silver nanoparticles” are predominant research focuses.ConclusionThis bibliometric study furnishes a quantitative perspective on the extant literature, serving scholars in related fields. BackgroundThe limitations of the traditional TNM system have spurred interest in multivariable models for personalized prognostication in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers (LSCC/HPSCC). However, the performance of these models depends on the quality of data and modelling methodology, affecting their potential for clinical adoption. This systematic review and meta-analysis (SR-MA) evaluated clinical predictive models (CPMs) for recurrence and survival in treated LSCC/HPSCC. We assessed models’ characteristics and methodologies, as well as performance, risk of bias (RoB), and applicability.MethodsLiterature searches were conducted in MEDLINE (OVID), Embase (OVID) and IEEE databases from January 2005 to November 2023. The search algorithm used comprehensive text word and index term combinations without language or publication type restrictions. Independent reviewers screened titles and abstracts using a predefined Population, Index, Comparator, Outcomes, Timing and Setting (PICOTS) framework. We included externally validated (EV) multivariable models, with at least one clinical predictor, that provided recurrence or survival predictions. The SR-MA followed PRISMA reporting guidelines, and PROBAST framework for RoB assessment. Model discrimination was assessed using C-index/AUC, and was presented for all models using forest plots. MA was only performed for models that were externally validated in two or more cohorts, using random-effects model. The main outcomes were model discrimination and calibration measures for survival (OS) and/or local recurrence (LR) prediction. All measures and assessments were preplanned prior to data collection.ResultsThe SR-MA identified 11 models, reported in 16 studies. Seven models for OS showed good discrimination on development, with only one excelling (C-index >0.9), and three had weak or poor discrimination. Inclusion of a radiomics score as a model parameter achieved relatively better performance. Most models had poor generalisability, demonstrated by worse discrimination performance on EV, but they still outperformed the TNM system. Only two models met the criteria for MA, with pooled EV AUCs 0.73 (95% CI 0.71-0.76) and 0.67 (95% CI 0.6-0.74). RoB was high for all models, particularly in the analysis domain.ConclusionsThis review highlighted the shortcomings of currently available models, while emphasizing the need for rigorous independent evaluations. Despite the proliferation of models, most exhibited methodological limitations and bias. Objective: The purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic review to assess the effects of different forms of resistance exercises (resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises) on physical fitness, quality of life (QOL), and fatigue of patients with cancer. Methods: We conducted a systematic review using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions guidelines. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases for the studies from the establishment of the database to September 2023, including randomized controlled trials and clinical trials that evaluated the effects of different resistance exercise on physical fitness, QOL, and fatigue in all patients with cancer. Two reviewers independently assessed the quality of all the included studies using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and MINORS scale. We divided the intervention into three types: resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises. Results: In total, 48 studies (3,843 participants) met the inclusion criteria. The three exercise intervention forms have significant effects on physical fitness and QOL, but the improvement effect on fatigue is not clear. A total of 34 studies reported significant and beneficial effects of resistance exercise on physical fitness across all types of cancer. There were 28 studies that reported significant or borderline improvement effects of resistance on QOL, and only 10 studies reported significant effects of resistance exercise interventions on fatigue improvement in patients with cancer. Conclusions: Resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises all have a positive effect on improving fitness and QOL in patients with cancer. Resistance exercise has an advantage in improving muscle strength, while combined resistance exercise has an advantage in improving QOL; however, there are no consistent findings in improving fatigue, although low-intensity resistance exercise is effective. Background and aims: In recent years, the relationship between metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and colorectal cancer (CRC) or colorectal adenoma (CRA) has gained widespread attention. Previous meta-analyses on this subject either incorporated numerous cross-sectional studies, which were susceptible to bias, or concentrated solely on a restricted number of cohort studies. Moreover, with the release of a substantial number of high-quality cohort studies on this subject in the past two years, the findings continue to be debated and contradictory. Therefore, we conducted an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies to quantitatively evaluate the magnitude of the association between them. Methods: Comprehensive searches of PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase were conducted without language restrictions from the time of their creation up to December, 2023. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence interval (CIs) were calculated by the generic inverse variance based on the random-effects model. Moreover, subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed. Results: A total of 15 cohort studies were analyzed in this meta-analysis, which included 9,958,412 participants. The meta-analysis of 13 cohort studies showed that MASLD was linked to a higher risk of CRC (HR=1.25, 95% CI: 1.15-1.36, P < 0.00001). Additionally, further subgroup analysis indicated that the combined HR remained consistent regardless of the study location, nomenclature of fatty liver disease (FLD), confirmation methods for FLD, sample size, follow-up time, and study quality. Furthermore, the meta-analysis of four cohort studies demonstrated that MASLD was correlated with an increased risk of CRA (HR=1.38, 95% CI: 1.17-1.64, P = 0.0002). The sensitivity analysis results further validated the robustness of the aboved findings. Conclusion: The results of our meta-analysis indicated that MASLD was associated with an increased risk of incident CRC/CRA. In the future, it is necessary to conduct more prospective cohort studies to thoroughly assess potential confounding factors, particularly in individuals from Europe and North America. BackgroundPeritoneal metastasis is one of the most common modes of spread of gastric cancer. Currently, surgical treatment combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and systemic chemotherapy has demonstrated promising outcomes in both the treatment and prevention of peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer. However, various HIPEC drug regimens are in clinical use, and their efficacy remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different HIPEC drug regimens in patients with advanced gastric cancer to determine the optimal therapeutic approach.MethodsThis study conducted a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis. Patients in the experimental group underwent surgery combined with HIPEC and chemotherapy. The search period covered literature from database inception to June 1, 2024. Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate overall survival (OS) as the primary outcome. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% CIs were used to assess overall disease recurrence, peritoneal recurrence, and postoperative morbidity as secondary outcomes. To ensure scientific rigor and transparency, this study has been registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024533948).ResultsA total of 11 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1092 patients were included. Compared to surgery combined with chemotherapy, the regimens of cisplatin (HRs = 0.52, 95% CI: 0.38-0.73), mitomycin C (HRs = 0.99, 95% CI: 0.55-1.79), cisplatin plus fluorouracil (HRs = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38-0.95), and oxaliplatin plus 5-fluorouracil (HRs = 0.53, 95% CI: 0.36-0.78) all demonstrated benefits in OS. The cisplatin (ORs = 0.16, 95% CI: 0.03-0.60) and mitomycin C (ORs = 0.03, 95% CI: 0-0.71) regimens also showed advantages in reducing peritoneal recurrence, with no impact on postoperative morbidity. Importantly, the cisplatin regimen was superior to other regimens in terms of OS and overall disease recurrence, achieving a balance between efficacy and safety.ConclusionsCompared to chemotherapy alone, HIPEC treatment shows significant benefits in OS without a notable disadvantage in postoperative morbidity. ObjectiveThis study aims at evaluating and juxtaposing the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) for hepatic metastases treatment.MethodsWe undertook an extensive literature search across the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, CNKI, and databases for studies published up to December 2023, assessing the outcomes of RFA versus MWA in hepatic metastases treatment. Studies were included or excluded based on established criteria. Continuous variables were analyzed with the aid of the weighted mean difference (WMD) and its 95% confidence interval (CI), while the odds ratio (OR) with its 95% CI was utilized for dichotomous variables. Data were processed by use of STATA 17.0 software. Key outcomes assessed included ablation time, post-operative local tumor progression (LTP), disease-free survival (DFS), and post-operative complications (POCs).ResultsSeven studies, comprising 357 patients undergoing MWA and 452 patients undergoing RFA, fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Aim: This study comprehensively assesses the incidence and profiles of treatment-related adverse events (trAEs) of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)- based therapies across cancer at various sites. Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases for trials investigating ICI-based therapies published between their inception and August 2023. Results: In total, 147 studies involving 45,855 patients met the inclusion criteria. Among them, patients treated with ICIs reported 39.8% and 14.9% of all-grade and grade =3 immune-related adverse events (irAEs), respectively. The most common all-grade irAEs were dermatological and gastrointestinal issues, diarrhea, and pruritus, whereas patients who received ICIs showed most common grade =3 irAEs, including gastrointestinal events, diarrhea, increased aspartate aminotransferase and alanine transaminase levels, and hepatic and dermatological events. The overall trAE incidence in patients treated with ICIs was 83.2% for all-grade trAEs and 38.2% for grade =3 trAEs. TrAE incidence was highest for patients treated with cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 inhibitors for all-grade and grade =3 trAEs, with incidences of 86.4% and 39.2%, respectively. ICIs combined with targeted therapy showed the highest all-grade and grade =3 trAEs, with incidences of 96.3% and 59.4%, respectively. The most common allgrade trAEs were anemia, decrease in white blood cell count, decrease in neutrophil count, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, and alopecia; patients who received ICIs presented relatively high incidences of grade =3 trAEs. Conclusion: This study provided comprehensive data regarding irAEs and trAEs in patients receiving ICIs. Objectives: The objective of this network meta-analysis is to systematically compare the efficacy of diverse progestin-based combination regimens in treating patients diagnosed with endometrial cancer or atypical endometrial hyperplasia. The primary goal is to discern the optimal combination treatment regimen through a comprehensive examination of their respective effectiveness. Methods: We systematically searched four prominent databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, for randomized controlled trials addressing the efficacy of progestins or progestin combinations in the treatment of patients with endometrial cancer or atypical endometrial hyperplasia. The search spanned from the inception of these databases to December 2023. Key outcome indicators encompassed survival indices, criteria for assessing efficacy, as well as pregnancy and relapse rate. This study was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024496311). Results: From the 1,558 articles initially retrieved, we included 27 studies involving a total of 5,323 subjects in our analysis. The results of the network meta-analysis revealed that the mTOR inhibitor+megestrol acetate (MA)+tamoxifen regimen secured the top rank in maintaining stable disease (SD) (SUCRA=73.4%) and extending progression-free survival (PFS) (SUCRA=72.4%). Additionally, the progestin combined with tamoxifen regimen claimed the leading position in enhancing the partial response (PR) (SUCRA=75.2%) and prolonging overall survival (OS) (SUCRA=80%). The LNG-IUS-based dual progestin regimen emerged as the frontrunner in improving the complete response (CR) (SUCRA=98.7%), objective response rate (ORR) (SUCRA=99.1%), pregnancy rate (SUCRA=83.7%), and mitigating progression (SUCRA=8.0%) and relapse rate (SUCRA=47.4%). In terms of safety, The LNG-IUS-based dual progestin regimen had the lowest likelihood of adverse events (SUCRA=4.2%), while the mTOR inhibitor regimen (SUCRA=89.2%) and mTOR inbitor+MA+tamoxifen regimen (SUCRA=88.4%) had the highest likelihood of adverse events. Conclusions: Patients diagnosed with endometrial cancer or atypical endometrial hyperplasia exhibited the most favorable prognosis when undergoing progestin combination therapy that included tamoxifen, mTOR inhibitor, or LNG-IUS. Introduction: The effectiveness of the supplementation of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics as a therapeutic approach in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The aim of this systematic review is to critically examine the current scientific evidence on the impact of modulating the microbiota, through the use of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics, in patients diagnosed with CRC undergoing treatment, to determine the potential therapeutic use of this approach. Methods: This systematic review was made according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Inclusion criteria were randomized controlled trials (RCT) comparing the impact of pre-, pro-, or synbiotic supplementation with placebo or standard care in patients with CRC undergoing treatment. Exclusion criteria were nonhuman studies, non-RCTs, and studies in languages other than English or Portuguese. Six databases were consulted, namely, Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Scopus, Cinahl, MedicLatina and Web of Science until May of 2023. RAYYAN software was used to manage the search results and risk of bias was assessed according to the guidelines of the Cochrane Collaboration using the Rob 2.0 tool. Results: Twenty-four RCTs met the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. Administration of pre-, pro-, or synbiotics improved surgical outcomes such as the incidence of infectious and non-infectious postoperative complications, return to normal gut function, hospital length of stay, and antibiotic usage. The supplementation of these microorganisms also alleviated some symptoms from chemotherapy and radiotherapy, mainly diarrhea. Evidence on the best approach in terms of types of strains, dosage and duration of intervention is still scarce. Conclusions: Pre-, pro-, and synbiotics supplementation appears to be a beneficial therapeutic approach in CRC treatment to improve surgical outcomes and to alleviate side-effects such as treatment toxicity. More RCTs with larger sample sizes and less heterogeneity are needed to confirm these potential benefits and to determine the best strains, dosage, and duration of administration in each situation. Background: The effect of first-line complex decongestive therapy (CDT) for breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) depending on various factors forces patients to seek additional treatment. Therefore, this meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of different conservative medical interventions as a complement to CDT. This is the first meta-analysis that includes various kinds of conservative treatments as adjunctive therapy to get broader knowledge and improve practical application value, which can provide recommendations to further improve BCRL patients' health status. Methods: RCTs published before 18 December 2023 from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were searched. RCTs that compared the effects of conservative medical intervention were included. A random-effects or fixed-effects model was used based on the heterogeneity findings. Study quality was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results: Sixteen RCTs with 690 participants were included, comparing laser therapy, intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC), extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), electrotherapy, ultrasound, diet or diet in combination with synbiotic supplement, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), continuous passive motion (CPM), and negative pressure massage treatment (NMPT). The results revealed that conservative medical intervention as complement to CDT had benefits in improving lymphedema in volume/circumference of the upper extremity [SMD = -0.30, 95% CI = (-0.45, -0.15), P < 0.05, I2 = 51%], visual analog score (VAS) for pain [SMD = -3.35, 95% CI (-5.37, -1.33), P < 0.05, I2 = 96%], quality of life [SMD = 0.44, 95% CI (0.19, 0.69), P < 0.05, I2 = 0], and DASH/QuickDASH [SMD = -0.42, 95% CI (-0.70, -0.14), P < 0.05, I2 = 10%] compared with the control group. Subgroup analysis revealed that laser therapy and electrotherapy are especially effective (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Combining conservative medical interventions with CDT appears to have a positive effect on certain BCRL symptoms, especially laser therapy and electrotherapy. It showed a better effect on patients under 60 years old, and laser therapy of low to moderate intensity (5-24 mW, 1.5-2 J/cm2) and of moderateto long-term duration (=36-72 sessions) showed better effects. Background: Colorectal cancer is among the most common cancers in the world, and splenic flexure colon cancer accounts for about 2-5% of them. There is still no consensus on the surgical treatment of splenic flexure colon cancer (SFCC), and the extent of surgical resection and lymph node dissection for SFCC is still controversial. Aim: To compare the postoperative and long-term oncologic outcomes of extended right colectomy (ERC), segmental colectomy (SC) and left colectomy (LC) for SFCC. Method: Up to March 2024, retrospective and prospective studies of ERC, SC, and LC for SFCC were searched through databases. Pooled weighted/ standardized mean difference (WMD/SMD), odds ratio (OR) and hazard ratio (HR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using a fixed effects model or random effects model, and meta-analysis was performed using Stata. Results: This meta-analysis includes 5,918 patients from 13 studies with more lymph node harvest (OR:6.29; 95%Cl: 3.66-8.91; Z=4.69, P=0), more operation time (WMD: 22.53; 95%Cl: 18.75-26.31; Z=11.68, P=0), more blood loss (WMD:58.44; 95%Cl: 20.20-96.68; Z=2.99, P=0.003), longer hospital stay (WMD:1.74; 95%Cl: 0.20-3.29; Z=2.21, P=0.03), longer time to return to regular diet (WMD:3.17; 95%Cl: 2.05-4.30; Z=5.53, P=0), longer first flatus time (WMD:1.66; 95%Cl: 0.96-2.37; Z=4.61, P=0) in ERC versus SC. More lymph node harvest (WMD: 3.52; 95% Cl: 1.59-5.44; Z=3.58, P=0) in ERC versus LC and LC versus SC (WMD: 1.97; 95% CI: 0.53-3.41; Z=2.68, P=0.007), respectively. There is no significant difference between anastomotic leakage, postoperative ileus, total postoperative complication, severe postoperative complication, wound infection, reoperations, R0 resection, postoperative mortality, 5-year overall survival (OS), 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) in three group of patients. In LC versus SC and ERC versus LC, there is no difference between operation time, blood loss, hospital stay, return to regular diet, and first flatus. Conclusion: In the included studies, SC and LC may be more advantageous, with fewer postoperative complications and faster recovery. ERC harvests more lymph nodes, but there is no significant difference in long-term OS and DFS between the three surgical approaches. Background: Currently, percutaneous transhepatic cholangial drainage (PTCD) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) are commonly employed in clinical practice to alleviate malignant obstructive jaundice (MOJ). Nevertheless, there lacks a consensus regarding the superiority of either method in terms of efficacy and safety. Aim: To conduct a systematic evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of PTCD and ERCP in treating MOJ, and to compare the therapeutic outcomes and safety profiles of these two procedures. Methods: CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, CBM, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and other databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the use of PTCD or ERCP for MOJ. The search period was from the establishment of the databases to July 2023. After quality assessment and data extraction from the included studies, Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 software. Results: A total of 21 RCTs involving 1,693 patients were included. Metaanalysis revealed that there was no significant difference in the surgical success rate between the two groups for patients with low biliary obstruction (P=0.81). For patients with high biliary obstruction, the surgical success rate of the PTCD group was higher than that of the ERCP group (P < 0.0001), and the overall surgical success rate of the PTCD group was also higher than that of the ERCP group (P = 0.008). For patients with low biliary obstruction, the rate of jaundice relief (P < 0.00001) and the clinical efficacy (P = 0.0005) were better in the ERCP group, while for patients with high biliary obstruction, the rate of jaundice relief (P < 0.00001) and the clinical efficacy (P = 0.003) were better in the PTCD group. There was no significant difference in the overall jaundice remission rate and clinical efficacy between the two groups (P = 0.77, 0.53). There was no significant difference in the reduction of ALT, TBIL, and DBIL before and after surgery and the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Both PTCD and ERCP can efficiently alleviate biliary obstruction and enhance liver function. Introduction: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to examine the risk of second primary cancers (SPCs) among retinoblastoma (Rb) patients, both hereditary and nonhereditary. Previous studies have reported on the long-term risk of SPCs in these patient populations, but a comprehensive synthesis of the existing evidence is lacking. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library from inception to 12 March 2023, supplemented by manual screening. Eligible studies were identified, and data were extracted. The primary outcome measure was the standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) of SPCs in Rb patients. Summary estimates were calculated using random or fixed effects models. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Results: Ten studies, including nine high-quality studies, were included in this review. The summary estimate of SIR for SPCs among hereditary Rb patients was 17.55 (95% CI=13.10-23.51), while the pooled estimate of SIR for SPCs among nonhereditary Rb patients was 1.36 (95% CI=0.90-2.04). Significant differences in SIRs for different SPC types were observed (P=0.028), including nasal cavity tumor (SIR=591.06, 95% CI=162.79-2146.01), bone tumor (SIR=442.91, 95% CI=191.63-1023.68), soft tissue sarcoma (SIR=202.93, 95% CI=114.10-360.93), CNS (SIR=12.84, 95% CI=8.80-18.74), and female breast cancer (SIR=3.68, 95% CI=2.52-5.37). Chemotherapy and radiation therapy were associated with an increased risk of SPCs among hereditary Rb patients. Discussion: The findings of this review indicate that hereditary Rb patients have a significantly elevated risk of developing SPCs, whereas nonhereditary Rb patients do not show the same risk. Furthermore, significant differences were observed in the SIRs of different SPC types. Treatment techniques, specifically chemotherapy and radiation therapy, were associated with an increased risk of SPCs among hereditary Rb patients. These findings highlight the importance of radiation protection for Rb patients and the need for further research and tailored management strategies for this high-risk population. Background: This meta-analysis was conducted to assess the survival benefits of repeat hepatectomy (RH) and thermal ablation therapy (TAT) in managing recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in the PubMed, SinoMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, and Web of Science databases using relevant keywords to identify all studies published on this specific topic. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using a fixed-effects model. Results: This meta-analysis included a total of 21 studies, comprising 2580 patients with recurrent HCC, among whom 1189 underwent RH and 1394 underwent TAT. Meta-analysis results demonstrated that the RH group exhibited superior overall survival (OS) (HR=0.85, 95%CI 0.76~0.95, P=0.004) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) (HR=0.79, 95%CI 0.7~0.9, P<0.01) compared to the TAT group. Regarding postoperative complications, the TAT group experienced fewer complications than the RH group (OR=3.23, 95%CI 1.48~7.07, P=0.003), while no significant difference in perioperative mortality was observed between the two groups (OR=2.11, 95%CI 0.54~8.19, P=0.28). Backgrounds: The value of circulating microRNA (miR)-155 for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis may differ in different studies. Therefore, we conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the potential application of circulating miR-155 in the diagnosis of BC. Methods: Articles published before December 2023 and in English were searched in these databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Medline, EMBASE and Google Scholar. A summary of sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratios (PLR), negative likelihood ratios (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were calculated from the true positive (TP), true negative (TN), false positive (FP) and false negative (FN) of each study. Additionally, the summary receive-operating characteristics (SROC) curve was constructed to summarize the TP and FP rates. Results: The pooled parameters calculated were as follows: sensitivity, 0.93 (95% CI: 0.83-0.97); specificity, 0.85 (95% CI: 0.74-0.92); PLR, 6.4 (95% CI: 3.4-11.9); NLR, 0.09 (95% CI: 0.04-0.20); and DOR, 74 (95% CI: 22-247). The analysis showed a significant heterogeneity (sensitivity, I² = 95.19%, p < 0.001; specificity, I²= 95.29%, p < 0.001; DOR, I² = 92.9%, p < 0.001). Introduction: Chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant bone tumor. Particle beam therapy (PT) can concentrate doses to targets while reducing adverse events. A meta-analysis based on a literature review was performed to examine the efficacy of PT and photon radiotherapy for skull base chondrosarcoma. Methods: The meta-analysis was conducted using 21 articles published from 1990 to 2022. Results: After PT, the 3- and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 94.1% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 91.0-96.2%) and 93.9% (95% CI: 90.6-96.1%), respectively, and the 3- and 5-year local control rates were 95.4% (95% CI: 92.0-97.4%) and 90.1% (95% CI: 76.8-96.0%), respectively. Meta-regression analysis revealed a significant association of PT with a superior 5-year OS rate compared to three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (p < 0.001). In the studies used in the meta-analysis, the major adverse event of grade 2 or higher was temporal lobe necrosis (incidence 1-18%, median 7%). Conclusion: PT for skull base chondrosarcoma had a good outcome and may be a valuable option among radiotherapy modalities. Background and objectives: Since the results of previous observational studies on the relationship between metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and pancreatic cancer were still controversial and inconsistent, we performed a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis of cohort studies to assess any potential association. Methods: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases from the database's inception up to November 30, 2023. For summary purposes, hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using random-effects models, and subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed as well. The Egger's test and Begg's test were utilized to detect the publication bias. Results: This meta-analysis included nine cohort studies with a total of 10,428,926 participants. The meta-analysis demonstrated an increased risk of pancreatic cancer in those with MASLD (HR = 1.32, 95% CI: 1.10-1.59, P = 0.003) with moderate heterogeneity (I² = 54%, P = 0.03). Subsequent subgroup analyses revealed that the pooled HRs remained significantly unchanged, irrespective of the study area, nomenclature of fatty liver disease, and sample size. The results of the sensitivity analyses remained unchanged. No evidence of publication bias was found. Conclusion: This meta-analysis indicated that MASLD was associated with a higher risk of pancreatic cancer. To further strengthen the association, future prospective cohort studies should take into account different ethnic groups, diagnostic methods of fatty liver, the severity of MASLD, and potential confounding factors, as well as explore the potential mechanisms of pancreatic cancer development in MASLD patients. Background: Lymphoma treatment can lead to long-term consequences such as fatigue, infertility and organ damage. In clinical trials, survival outcomes, clinical response and toxicity are extensively reported while the assessment of treatment on quality of life (QoL) and symptoms is often lacking. Objective: We evaluated the use and frequency of patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments used in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and their consistency of reporting. Methods: MEDLINE, CENTRAL and trial registries for RCTs investigating HL were systematically searched from 01/01/2016 to 31/05/2022. Following trial selection, trial, patient characteristics and outcome data on the use of PRO measures (PROMs) and reporting of PROs using a pre-defined extraction form were extracted. To assess reporting consistency, trial registries, protocols and publications were compared. Results: We identified 4,222 records. Following screening, a total of 317 reports were eligible for full-text evaluation. One hundred sixty-six reports of 51 ongoing/completed trials were included, of which 41% of trials were completed and 49% were ongoing based on registry entries. Full-text or abstract were available for 33 trials. Seventy percent of trials were conducted in the newly diagnosed disease setting, the majority with advanced HL. In 32 trials with published follow-up data, the median follow-up was 5.2 years. Eighteen (35%) completed/ongoing trials had mentioned PRO assessment in registry entries, protocol or publications. Twelve trials (67%) had published results and only 6 trials (50%) reported on PROs in part with the exception of 1 trial where PROs were evaluated as secondary/exploratory outcome. The most referenced global PROM was the EORTC-QLQ-C30 (12 studies), the EQ-5D (3 studies) and the FACT-Neurotoxicity (3 studies). FACT-Lymphoma, a disease-specific PROM for non-HL was mentioned in one ongoing trial. None of the trials referenced the EORTC QLQ-HL27, another disease-specific PROM developed specifically for HL patient's QoL assessment. Discussions: Only one-third of RCTs in HL report PROs as an outcome and only half present the outcome in subsequent publications, showcasing the underreporting of PROs in trials. Background: Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) is a rare subtype of prostate cancer. The pathogenesis, clinical manifestation, treatment options, and prognosis are uncertain and underreported. Materials and methods: A systematic search was conducted in April 2022 through PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane. We reviewed cases of LCNEC developed either from de novo or transformation from prostate adenocarcinoma and summarized the relevant pathophysiological course, treatment options, and outcomes. Results: A total of 25 patients with a mean age of 70.4 (range 43 87 years old) from 18 studies were included in this review. 13 patients were diagnosed with de novo LCNEC of the prostate. 12 patients were from the transformation of adenocarcinoma post-hormonal therapy treatment. Upon initial diagnosis, patients diagnosed with de novo prostatic LCNEC had a mean serum PSA value of 24.6 ng/ml (range: 0.09-170 ng/ml, median 5.5 ng/ml), while transformation cases were significantly lower at 3.3 ng/ml (range: 0-9.3 ng/ml, median 0.05 ng/ml). The pattern of metastasis closely resembles prostate adenocarcinoma. Six out of twenty-three cases displayed brain metastasis matching the correlation between neuroendocrine tumors and brain metastasis. Three notable paraneoplastic syndromes included Cushings syndrome, dermatomyositis, and polycythemia. Most patients with advanced metastatic disease received conventional platinum-based chemotherapy with a mean survival of 5 months. There was one exception in the transformation cohort with a somatic BRCA2 mutation who was treated with a combination of M6620 and platinum-based chemotherapy with an impressive PFS of 20 months. Patients with pure LCNEC phenotype have worse survival outcomes when compared to those with mixed LCNEC and adenocarcinoma phenotypes. It is unclear whether there is a survival benefit to administering ADT in pure pathologies. Conclusion: LCNEC of the prostate is a rare disease that can occur de novo or transformation from prostatic adenocarcinoma. Most patients present at an advanced stage with poor prognosis and are treated with conventional chemotherapy regimens. Patients who had better outcomes were those who were diagnosed at an early stage and received treatment with surgery or radiation and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). ObjectiveThe lymphocyte-to-C-reactive protein (LCR) ratio, an immune-inflammatory marker, shows prognostic potential in various cancers. However, its utility in gastrointestinal malignancies remains uncertain due to inconsistent findings. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizes recent evidence to elucidate the association between LCR and prognosis in gastrointestinal cancer patients, aiming to clarify LCR’s potential role as a prognostic biomarker.MethodsWe searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases up to May 2024 to evaluate the association between LCR and prognosis in gastrointestinal cancer patients. The main outcomes included overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and disease-free survival (DFS). IntroductionThe effectiveness of the supplementation of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics as a therapeutic approach in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The aim of this systematic review is to critically examine the current scientific evidence on the impact of modulating the microbiota, through the use of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics, in patients diagnosed with CRC undergoing treatment, to determine the potential therapeutic use of this approach.MethodsThis systematic review was made according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Inclusion criteria were randomized controlled trials (RCT) comparing the impact of pre-, pro-, or synbiotic supplementation with placebo or standard care in patients with CRC undergoing treatment. Exclusion criteria were non-human studies, non-RCTs, and studies in languages other than English or Portuguese. Six databases were consulted, namely, Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Scopus, Cinahl, MedicLatina and Web of Science until May of 2023. RAYYAN software was used to manage the search results and risk of bias was assessed according to the guidelines of the Cochrane Collaboration using the Rob 2.0 tool.ResultsTwenty-four RCTs met the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. Administration of pre-, pro-, or synbiotics improved surgical outcomes such as the incidence of infectious and non-infectious postoperative complications, return to normal gut function, hospital length of stay, and antibiotic usage. The supplementation of these microorganisms also alleviated some symptoms from chemotherapy and radiotherapy, mainly diarrhea. Evidence on the best approach in terms of types of strains, dosage and duration of intervention is still scarce.ConclusionsPre-, pro-, and synbiotics supplementation appears to be a beneficial therapeutic approach in CRC treatment to improve surgical outcomes and to alleviate side-effects such as treatment toxicity. Background and objective: Numerous radiomics-based models have been proposed to discriminate between central nervous system (CNS) gliomas and primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSLs). Given the heterogeneity of the existing models, we aimed to define their overall performance and identify the most critical variables to pilot future algorithms. Methods: A systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis were conducted, encompassing 12 studies and a total of 1779 patients, focusing on radiomics to differentiate gliomas from PCNSLs. A comprehensive literature search was performed through PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. Overall sensitivity (SEN) and specificity (SPE) were estimated. Event rates were pooled using a random-effects meta-analysis, and the heterogeneity was assessed using the c2 test. Results: The overall SEN and SPE for differentiation between CNS gliomas and PCNSLs were 88% (95% CI = 0.83 - 0.91) and 87% (95% CI = 0.83 - 0.91), respectively. The best-performing features were the ones extracted from the Gray Level Run Length Matrix (GLRLM; ACC 97%), followed by those obtained from the Neighboring Gray Tone Difference Matrix (NGTDM; ACC 93%), and shape-based features (ACC 91%). The 18F-FDG-PET/CT was the bestperforming imaging modality (ACC 97%), followed by the MRI CE-T1W (ACC 87% - 95%). Most studies applied a cross-validation analysis (92%). Conclusion: The current SEN and SPE of radiomics to discriminate CNS gliomas from PCNSLs are high, making radiomics a helpful method to differentiate these tumor types. Purpose: To investigate the effects of various intervention approaches on cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in patients with breast cancer. Method: Computer searches were conducted on PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Wanfang databases from their establishment to June 2023. Selection was made using inclusion and exclusion criteria, and 77 articles were included to compare the effects of 12 interventions on patients with breast cancer. Results: Seventy-seven studies with 12 various interventions were examined. The network findings indicated that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) (SMD, -1.56; 95%CI, -3.08~-0.04), Chinese traditional exercises (CTE) (SMD, -0.85; 95%CI, -1.34~-0.36), aerobic exercise (AE) (SMD, -0.77; 95%CI, -1.09~-0.45), multimodal exercise (ME) (SMD, -0.75; 95%CI, -1.26~-0.25), music interventions (MI) (SMD, -0.74; 95%CI, -1.45~-0.03), and yoga (YG) (SMD, -0.44; 95%CI, -0.83 to -0.06) can reduce CRF more than the control group (CG). For relaxation exercises (RE) (MD, -6.69; 95%CI, -9.81~-3.57), MI (MD, -5.45; 95%CI, -7.98~-2.92), AE (MD, -4.34; 95%CI, -5.90~-2.78), ME (MD, -3.47; 95%CI, -4.95~-1.99), YG (MD, -2.07; 95%CI, -3.56~-0.57), and mindfulness training (MD, -1.68; 95%CI, -2.91~-0.46), PSQI improvement was superior to CG. In addition, for CTE (MD, 11.39; 95%CI, 4.11-18.66), YG (MD, 11.28; 95%CI, 1.63-20.93), and AE (MD, 9.34; 95%CI, 0.26~18.42), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast improvement was superior to CG. Conclusion: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most effective measure for alleviating CRF in patients with breast cancer and Relaxation exercises (RE) is the most effective measure for improving sleep quality. In addition, Chinese traditional exercises (CTE) is the best measure for enhancing quality of life. Background: In recent years, the addition of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) to chemotherapy (CT) has become a research hotspot in the therapy of metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. Nevertheless, controversial results have been revealed among the published randomized controlled trials. Hence, a meta-analysis was performed to assess the therapeutic effect of this treatment regimen. Methods: Five English databases (PubMed, WOS, CENTRAL, Scopus, and Embase), and four Chinese databases (CBM, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang), as well as oncological meetings, were systematically searched to identify eligible studies that assessed the addition of ICI to CT versus CT alone in metastatic triple- negative breast cancer. The pooled hazard ratios (HR) of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated using fixed- or random- effect model. Subgroup analyses were also performed in the intention-to-treat (ITT) and PD-L1-positive individuals. Results: All told there are five eligible randomized controlled trials involving 3,000 patients were enrolled in this meta-analysis. Compared with CT alone, the ICI plus CT regimen significantly increased PFS in the ITT (HR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.73-0.88) and PD-L1-positive (HR = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.62-0.79) populations, as well as OS in the ITT (HR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.81-0.97) and PD-L1-positive populations (HR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.71-0.91). Moreover, the PFS of sufferers treated with the combination strategy of ICI with CT increased alongside PD-L1 enrichment. A clinical benefit in terms of objective response rate was also distinctly observed in both populations treated with ICI plus CT. In the subgroup analysis, patients in the no prior CT subgroup experienced a striking increase in PFS in both populations; however, a difference was not observed in other subgroups. Conclusions: The combination strategy striking improves PFS and OS in both ITT and PD-L1-positive populations, and PFS is prolonged with PD-L1 enrichment. Patients who do not receive CT prior to this treatment are associated with longer PFS in both populations. Background and aim: Chinese herbal injection (CHI) is a widely used preparation for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment to alleviate the adverse drug reactions and enhance the clinical efficacy of chemotherapy. However, its efficacy and safety in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy (PBC) remain poorly understood owing to the lack of high-level evidence in the face of a wide variety of CHIs. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of CHIs in combination with PBC regimens in the treatment of mid- and advanced NSCLC. Methods: Systematic evaluation and meta-analysis were conducted as per the Preferred Reporting Project for Systematic Evaluation and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P). Seven databases were comprehensively searched for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) through August 1, 2022. The quality of each study was evaluated based on the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. Statistical analysis was performed using Revman 5.3, with dichotomies expressed as risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) were selected as the primary outcomes, with quality of life (QoL) and toxic side effects as secondary outcomes. Results: A total of 140 RCTs were included in this study. The results of the metaanalysis suggested that, compared with PBC alone, PBC combined with CHIs significantly improved the ORR (RR=1.35, 95% CI: 1.30-1.41, P<0.001), DCR (RR=1.15, 95% CI: 1.13-1.18, P<0.001) and QoL (RR=1.29, 95% CI: 1.24-1.33, P<0.001). Moreover, the combination treatment reduced chemotherapyinduced leukopenia (RR=0.69, 95% CI: 0.64-0.75, P<0.001), anemia (RR=0.70, 95% CI: 0.62-0.79, P<0.001), thrombocytopenia (RR=0.68, 95% CI: 0.62-0.75, P<0.001), nausea and vomiting (RR=0.69, 95% CI: 0.63-0.76, P<0.001), diarrhea (RR=0.59, 95% CI: 0.48-0.73, P<0.001), and constipation (RR=0.68, 95% CI: 0.54-0.86, P=0.001). Conclusion: According to the available evidence, CHIs in combination with PBC can improve clinical efficacy and reduce the toxic side effects in the treatment of advanced NSCLC.
