ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of overactive bladder (OAB) and its risk factors related to allergies among children in Northeastern China.MethodsA community survey on OAB was conducted in Northeast China from 1 April 2022 to 30 April 2022. The survey targeted children aged 5–14 years and utilized questionnaires. A total of 1,394 children were enrolled, and their parents were requested to fill out a questionnaire to provide basic information about the children. This encompassed details regarding the presence or absence of urgent urination unrelated to urinary tract infection, urinary tract infection, allergic rhinitis, asthma or cough variant asthma, atopic dermatitis, anaphylactic conjunctivitis, urticaria, constipation, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The prevalence of OAB was calculated. The chi-squared test was used to analyze OAB-related factors, which were subsequently included in the logistic regression model for multi-factor analysis.ResultsThe overall OAB prevalence was 10.7% (120 of 1,121), including 47 mild cases (39.2%), 71 moderate cases (59.1%), and 2 severe cases (1.7%). BackgroundIn recent years, the development of global public health has become a matter of great concern and importance for governments worldwide. China, as the largest developing country, plays a crucial role in shaping the development of the public health and its ability to respond to sudden public health emergencies through the fairness of its human resource allocation in center for disease control and prevention (CDC).ObjectiveThis study aims to analyze the situation of health human resource allocation in the China Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDCs), assess the fairness of the allocation, and provide reference for the rational allocation of human resources.MethodsWe selected data from the China Health Statistics Yearbook on healthcare technical personnel, other technical personnel, managerial personnel, and workforce technical personnel of China CDCs for the period of 2016–2020. We utilized the Health Resource Density Index to evaluate the level of human resource allocation in China CDCs. Additionally, we used the Gini coefficient and Theil index to assess the fairness of human resource allocation in China CDCs from both a population and geographical perspective.ResultsFirstly, the educational qualifications and professional titles of CDC staff have improved, but the workforce is aging. Secondly, HRDI development trends vary among different personnel types and regions with varying levels of economic development. Finally, the results of the Gini coefficient and Theil index indicate that population distribution fairness is better than geographical distribution fairness. Overall, the unfair population distribution is primarily due to regional disparities.ConclusionThe China CDCs should tailor different standards for the allocation of health human resources based on regional characteristics, aiming to enhance the accessibility of health human resources in various regions and achieve equitable allocation.

BackgroundIndividual metal levels are potential risk factors for the development of preeclampsia (PE). However, understanding of relationship between multiple metals and PE remains elusive.PurposeThe purpose of this study was to explore whether eight metals [zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg)] in serum had a certain relationship with PE.MethodsA study was conducted in Dongguan, China. The concentrations of metals in maternal serum were assessed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Data on various factors were collected through a face-to-face interview and hospital electronic medical records. The unconditional logistic regression model, principal component analysis (PCA) and Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression (BKMR) were applied in our study.ResultsThe logistic regression model revealed that the elevated levels of Cu, Pb, and Hg were associated with an increased risk of PE. According to PCA, principal component 1 (PC1) was predominated by Hg, Pb, Mn, Ni, Cu, and As, and PC1 was associated with an increased risk of PE, while PC2 was predominated by Cd and Zn. The results of BKMR indicated a significant positive cumulative effect of serum metals on PE risk, with Ni and Cu exhibiting a significant positive effect. Moreover, BKMR results also revealed the nonlinear effects of Ni and Cd.ConclusionThe investigation suggests a potential positive cumulative impact of serum metals on the occurrence of PE, with a particular emphasis on Cu as a potential risk factor for the onset and exacerbation of PE. These findings offer valuable insights for guiding future studies on this concern.

IntroductionEmergency medical rescue plays a vital role in alleviating the harm of all kinds of emergencies to people's physical and mental health and life safety. The current emergency medical teams (EMTs) formation model is not unified. We focused on the disadvantages of the bricolage mode of China EMTs and put forward empirical-based countermeasures to improve the emergency management ability of EMTs.MethodsFrom March to September 2022, 23 leaders of EMTs in North China (Tianjin) were selected by objective sampling method to conduct one-to-half structured in-depth interviews. Nvivo12.0 software was used for three-level coding. The disadvantages of the bricolage model of EMT were analyzed.ResultsBased on the three-level coding, 150 initial concepts, 36 sub-coding, 17 main coding, six categories, and two core categories were sorted out. Management structure, internal stability, and support are recognized as the crucial elements armed with the EMTs.DiscussionThe bricolage EMTs have disadvantages such as a chaotic management structure, weak internal stability, and inadequate support. It is necessary to construct full-time EMTs that incorporate a standardized personnel admission mechanism, full-time training and exercise mechanism, diversified incentive mechanism, and multi-agent cooperation mechanism, etc.

BackgroundThere is great mental stress due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, there are no detailed psychological studies of the children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and their guardians during the COVID-19 pandemic.ObjectiveThis study explores the psychological pressure on children with CKD and their guardians.MethodsAn online survey was conducted at 20 of the largest pediatric nephropathy departments in China, including the Rutter Parent Questionnaire, Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS). Overall, 885 children (589 children with CKD associated with 296 children of the control group) completed the survey together with their guardians.ResultsThere was no statistical difference between CKD children and control children regarding their Rutter behavior scores and abnormal behaviors. Nevertheless, the abnormal behavior of children might aggravate the anxiety and depression of guardians in both CKD and control groups (p < 0.05). We confirmed that the anxiety and depression of guardians in the CKD group were both significantly higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The guardians in the CKD group with lower annual income were more likely to experience anxiety (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the guardians whose children were older than 11 years old might be more anxious than those who were 6–11 years old. Besides, the guardians in the CKD group who watched the news for 30–60 min daily were less likely to have depression than those who watched < 10 min (p < 0.05). The subgroup results showed that the gender, the time of watching the news, the annual income of guardians, and children's age might be the most critical factors influencing guardians' psychological burden.ConclusionThe guardians in the CKD group have more severe anxiety and depression during the pandemic. The children's abnormal behavior, adolescents' pressure, low household income, and the panic about the pandemic may be the main reasons for the anxiety and depression of guardians.
