Abstract

The most recent mouse, rat, dog, chimpanzee, and human genome sequence was searched to compile a near-complete repertoire of V1R genes for each species. It was found that dog, human, and chimpanzee had very few intact V1Rs compared to more than a hundred intact V1Rs in each of the rat and mouse genomes.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on ancestral human chromosome 2 fusion region duplicated in subtelomeric and pericentromeric locations of human genome. The fusion site of this chromosome has been investigated and the results demonstrate that duplication and rearrangement of pericentromeric and subtelomeric regions can change gene dosage and generate new functional genes.

A comparative genome analysis of orthologous mouse and rat V1R clusters was conducted to test for species specificity in V1R repertoires. The results reveal that the clusters in these two species have diverged along the species lines shortly after the mouse-conversions.
