Abstract

This article discusses the establishments of grants to monitor the relationship between global warming and rising sea levels by the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) of Great Britain. One of the grants will be used to fund a trip circumnavigating the Atlantic basin along the one-and-one-half-meter contour, which has been projected as the in 2109. The research grants programme managed by the RGS is described.

Abstract

This article discusses a report by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers suggesting that design in Great Britain needs to start taking the risk of global warming into account. Issues such as impact of projected sea level rises on the flood plains are noted. The need to develop clean water storage systems and alternative energy generation strategies is also addressed.
