Abstract

The article presents a case of 94-year-old woman suffering from acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The woman had a history of hypertension and hypothyroidism. Red stools were noted on digital examination of the rectum. Emergency sigmoidoscopy showed an adherent clot 15 centimeters from the anal verge and diverticulosis. At colonoscopy, diverticulosis and a deep beating ulcer surrounding an elevated pulsatile area 15 centimeters from the anal verge was revealed.
