Paukov, A., Sipman, H. J. M., Kukwa, M., Repin, R. & Teptina, A. 2017. New lichen records from the mountains Kinabalu and Tambuyukon (Kinabalu Park, Malaysian Borneo). — Herzogia 30: 237–252. One hundred twenty-six species of lichenized fungi are reported as new to the Kinabalu region. Of these, six are new to Sabah, 90 new to Malaysia, 15 new to Southeast Asia (Bryoria bicolor, Byssoloma subleucoblepharum, Graphis kollaimalaiensis, G. nuda, Lecidea paupercula, Lepraria ecorticata, L. finkii, L. incana, L. yunnaniana, Placynthiella uliginosa, Porpidia superba, Ramalina throwerae, Rhizocarpon plicatile, Sporopodium citrinum, Stereocaulon sasakii) and 15 new to Asia (Ainoa geochroa, Arthonia accolens, Astrothelium inspersaeneum, Bacidina defecta, Fissurina consentanea, Graphis argentata, G. flavens, Gyalideopsis brevipilosa, G. puertoricensis, Hypotrachyna afrorevoluta, Lepraria leuckertiana, Porpidia contraponenda, Psorotheciopsis premneella, Ramboldia laeta, Variolaria multipunctoides).

Ossowska, E. & Kukwa, M. 2016. Parmelia barrenoae and P. pinnatifida, two lichen species new to Poland. — Herzogia 29: 198–203. Parmelia barrenoae and P. pinnatifida are reported as new to Poland. Parmelia barrenoae is known from 85 records and is widely distributed throughout Poland. Parmelia pinnatifida, by contrast, is a rare species recorded only in mountain areas. The general distribution of both species, their habitat requirements, morphology, secondary chemistry, and differences compared to similar taxa are discussed.

In a study of the genus Cetrelia in Poland, four taxa have been identified, two of which, C. chicitae and C. monachorum, are reported for the first time from the country. All taxa differ in chemistry and subtle morphological characters. Cetrelia monachorum is the commonest member of the genus in Poland (237 records), whereas C. chicitae is known only from 6 records. All taxa are endangered, and three, C. cetrarioides, C. chicitae and C. olivetorum, appear to be critically so, thus deserving the category CR; although C. monachorum is the most frequent, it is not common and should be treated as endangered (EN). The distribution of all taxa, their habitat requirements, as well as morphology and secondary chemistry, are discussed.

The lichen order Peltigerales in Bolivia — the first assessment of the biodiversity. — Herzogia 27: 321–345. Sixty-six species belonging to the order Peltigerales are reported from Bolivia. Four species, Coccocarpia gallaicoi, C. microphyllina, Lobariella spathulifera and L. subcrenulata, are new to the Southern Hemisphere and Coccocarpia adnata is new to South America. 29 taxa are recorded for the first time in Bolivia. Several other taxa are reported for the first time from contemporary localities. The taxonomic placement of specimens lacking secondary metabolites within Peltigera ulcerata is supported by analyses of ITS nu-rDNA sequences. As a result we found that P. ulcerata is chemically more variable than previously reported. Notes on the habitat and general distribution of all species are presented, with taxonomic remarks provided for some taxa.

Zdunczyk, A. & Kukwa, M. 2014. A revision of sorediate crustose lichens containing usnic acid and chlorinated xanthones in Poland. — Herzogia 27: 13–40. The results of a revision of sorediate, crustose lichens containing usnic acid and chlorinated xanthones growing on all types of substrata in Poland are presented. This group of lichens has never been studied thoroughly in Poland or in any neighbouring country. The following taxa were confirmed: Biatora pontica, Haematomma ochroleucum var. ochroleucum, Lecanora compallens, L. conizaeoides, L. expallens, L. flavoleprosa, L. orosthea, L. soralifera, L. thysanophora, Lecidella elaeochroma f. soralifera, L. flavosorediata, L. scabra, L. subviridis, Mycoblastus alpinus and Pyrrhospora quernea. No material of Pertusaria flavicans was located in Polish herbaria. The holotype of Mycoblastus alpinus f. friesii described from Poland represents a typical M. alpinus. Tsurykau, A., Golubkov, V. & Kukwa, M. 2014. New or otherwise interesting records of lichens and lichenicolous fungi from Belarus. — Herzogia 27: 111–120. Data on fourteen species of lichenized and lichenicolous fungi from Belarus are presented, of which 5 lichens (Fuscidea arboricola, Lecanora compallens, Lepraria vouauxii, Ochrolechia bahusiensis, Violella fucata) and 7 lichenicolous fungi (Acremonium antarcticum, Epicladonia sandstedei, E. stenospora, Lettauia cladoniicola, Pezizella ucrainica, Phaeopyxis punctum, Taeniolella phaeophysciae) are new to the country. The occurrence of Ochrolechia pallescens is confirmed by thin-layer chromatography in Belarus and the first contemporary record of O. arborea is presented.

A contribution to the lichen family Graphidaceae (Ostropales, Ascomycota) of Bolivia. - Herzogia 26: 231–252.Carbacanthogr aphis violaceospora Kukwa & Flakus, Graphis boliviana Kukwa & Flakus and G. seawardii Flakus & Kukwa are described as new to science from Bolivia. In addition 56 corticolous and muscicolous species of Graphidaceae are reported for the first time from Bolivia, of which four, Graphis pinicola, G. urandrae, Phaeographis dendroides and P. quadrifera, are new to South America, and six, Graphis argentata, G. litoralis, G. nudaeformis, G. pittieri, G. subflexibilis and Phaeographis delicatula, are new to the Southern Hemisphere. Notes on the chemistry, habitat and general distribution are provided, with taxonomic remarks provided for some species.

Kukwa, M., Czarnota, P. & Perz, P. 2010. New or interesting records of lichenicolous fungi from Poland VIII. - Herzogia 23: 111-119. Records of 46 lichenicolous fungi are presented. Taeniolella rolfii is reported as new to Central Europe, and Arthonia digitatae and Trichonectria rubefaciens new to Poland. Roselliniella stereocaulorum is reported from the second European locality. Taeniolella trapeliopseos is discovered for the first time in the Carpathians. Phaeosporobolus alpinus is found for the first time in Polish lowland, and Chaenothecopsis savonica is reported as new to Polish Carpathians. Thelocarpon impresellum and T. intermediellum are found as lichenicolous for the first time. The first Polish lichenicolous record of Chaenothecopsis viridireagens is also reported. Lecanora flavoleprosa is a new host for Lichenoconium lecanorae and Trapeliopsis pseudogranulosa for Taeniolella trapeliopseos. Zusammenfassung: Kukwa, M., Czarnota, P. & Perz, P. 2010. Arthonia digitatae und Trichonectria rubefaciens werden erstmals fur Polen nachgewiesen. Roselliniella stereocaulorum wird zum zweiten Mal aus Europa angegeben. Taeniolella trapeliopseos wurde erstmals in den Karpaten gefunden. Von Phaeosporobolus alpinus wird der erste Fund aus dem polnischen Flachland angegeben und Chaenothecopsis savonica ist neu fur den polnischen Teil der Karpaten. Thelocarpon impresellum und T. intermediellum wurden erstmals lichenicol gefunden. Der erste lichenicole Nachweis von Chaenothecopsis viridireagens in Polen wird aufgefuhrt. Lecanora flavoleprosa ist ein neuer Wirt fur Lichenoconium lecanorae und Trapeliopsis pseudogranulosa fur Taeniolella trapeliopseos.

Kukwa, M. & Motiejūnaitė, J. 2012. Revision of the lichen genera Cetrelia and Punctelia (Lecanorales, Ascomycota) in Lithuania with implications for their conservation. — Herzogia 25: 5 –14. A revision of all available specimens has shown that the genus Cetrelia in Lithuania is represented by two species, C. monachorum and C. olivetorum. One specimen belonged to Punctelia jeckeri. The distribution and status of both genera in Lithuania are reviewed, distribution maps are provided, and the merits of the segregates for conservation measures are discussed. Cetrelia monachorum and Punctelia jeckeri are reported for the first time from Lithuania and from the Baltic states.

Kanigowski, P., Flakus, A., Oset, M., Kowalewska, A., Rykaczewki, M., & Kukwa, M. 2016. The lichen family Parmeliaceae in Poland. Xanthoparmelia species containing usnic acid. — Herzogia 29: 108–119. In a study of the Xanthoparmelia species containing usnic acid in Poland, six taxa have been recognized. Xanthoparmelia plittii is new to Poland. Some of the material is referred to as X. aff. cumberlandia. Xanthoparmelia conspersa is the most common species of the group in Poland (c. 67% of all records). Xanthoparmelia angustiphylla is widespread, but less common (c. 20% of all records). The remaining Xanthoparmelia taxa in Poland, i.e. X. aff. cumberlandia, X. mougeotii, X. plittii and X. stenophylla, are rare or very rare in the country. The distribution and threat status of all taxa, their habitat requirements, morphology and secondary chemistry are discussed and notes on similar taxa are made.
