Abstract

The Larmor precession for the 362 keV state in Ho( I = 3/2, T = 1.512 μs) in DyO with an external magnetic field of 0.3 T was determined to be − 32.3 ± 0.6 MHz by use of the perturbed angular correlation technique, intending to determine the magnetic moment and apply it to the measurement of the hyperfine field at Ho in Fe. The magnetic moment for this state was tentatively deduced under the assumption that the paramagnetic correction factor for a free Ho ion is applicable to the present case. The independent A measurement for the 633 − 362 keV γ cascade for the sign assignment of the Larmor frequency is inconsistent with that from known multipolarities and mixing ratios for this cascade, implying that the mixing ratios may be different from the reported values. Abstract

The structure around the metal site of mavicyanin, a protein molecule with a copper site, was investigated in solution by using time-differential perturbed angular correlation of 117In. The electric field gradient (EFG) of the metal site was deduced from the measurement. It demonstrated that the site in a mutant-type mavicyanin, Thr15Ala-Mav, gives an EFG different from that in the wild-type mavicyanin does. Abstract

The g-factor of the first excited state of 93Sr ( E = 213 keV, T 1/2 = 4.6 ns) was measured by an on-line TDPAC technique with use of the strong hyperfine field in Fe metal. The Larmor frequency ω L = (2.60 ± 0.15) × 108 rad/s was obtained. The g-factor is derived as g = −0.227 ± 0.013 from g = − ℏω L/ B hf μ N. If the spin of the first excited state of 93Sr is assumed to be 3/2, the g-factor is predicted by a simple core-excitation model as g = −0.22, which is in good agreement with the present experimental result. Abstract

Abstract: A 140La(I π=3−, T 1/2=40.3 h)-doped layer has been produced in CaB6 by means of radioactive isotope (RI) beam technique: 140Cs(I π=1−, T 1/2=63.7 s) was implanted into CaB6 and the radioactive equilibrium of 140Ba–140La was achieved. The concentration of La in CaB6 was La/Ca ∼0.001. Obtained TDPAC spectra of the 2083 keV level of 140Ce (I π=4+, T 1/2=3.4 ns, μ=+4.350.10 μ N ) followed by the β decay of 140La showed the existence of hyperfine magnetic fields: B hyp=−15.00.5 T and −1.000.15 T.

Abstract

Abstract: Low-temperature nuclear orientation (LTNO) experiments were performed on 151Pm implanted into iron and 147Nd implanted into nickel. The γ-ray anisotropy measurements yielded values of the magnetic hyperfine field and the substitutional fractions of these ions in the host metals. An observed discrepancy between the substitutional fractions obtained from the 91 keV and 531 keV data on 147NdNi is briefly discussed.

Abstract

The hyperfine interactions of99Ru(←99Rh) in YBa2Cu3O7−x withx<0.2 andx≈1 were studied by means of TDPAC and emission Mössbauer spectroscopy. The superconductor YBa2Cu3O7−x withx<0.2 was prepared by conventional heat treatment in oxygen, the semiconductor withx≈1 by heating the superconductor under a reduced pressure. The TDPAC and Mössbauer measurements show that Ru ions exclusively occupy the Cu-1 site, which forms one-dimensional Cu-O chains in the orthorhombic phase.

Abstract

Hyperfine interactions of99Ru(»99Rh) nuclei in Fe3O4 were studied by means of TDPAC andemission Mössbauer spectroscopy. The isomer shift obtained from an emission Mössbauer spectrum andthe temperature dependence of the hyperfine magnetic field obtained from TDPAC measurements indicate that99Ru ions arising from99Rh nuclei dilutely doped in Fe3O4 exist as a mixed state of Ru2+ andRu3+, which is not common in ruthenium oxides. Fe3O4(99Ru) is the first example where a Ru ion in a low valence state exhibits its own magnetization in oxides.
