Abstract

An investigation of the 0.43 micrometer absorption feature in asteroids was conducted on 12 high resolution ultraviolet/visible spectra of asteroids during a search for the Soret band near the 0.4 micrometer band which indicates the presence of porphyrins. The classes of the asteroids include the primitive C, P and G class. The 0.43 micrometer absorption feature indicates the presence of ferric iron.
