In this letter, a compact wideband phase shifter using a microstrip self-coupled line and a broadside-coupled microstrip/CPW (BCMC) structure is proposed for multiphase feed-network. With a uniform phase reference, such a phase shifter can achieve multiphase responses by adjusting instinct self- and broadside couplings for constant phase shifts within a wideband. Then, with the combination of proposed phase shifters and a microstrip Wilkinson power divider, a multiphase feed-network can be implemented. To verify the mechanisms mentioned earlier, a wideband feed-network is fabricated with measured multiphase responses (i.e., 0°, 5.625°, 11.25°, 22.5°, 45°, 90°, and 180°) and maximum insertion loss of 1.57 dB from 1.7 to 2.3 GHz. A new class of adaptive Wilkinson-type filtering power divider that simultaneously exhibits single/multi-band operation, frequency tuning, and controllable number of passbands is reported. It exploits the incorporation of single/multi-band quasi-bandpass sections into the input/output terminals of the power divider, whose quarter-wavelength-long transmission-line segments are reused as impedance inverters between the quasi-bandpass stages. In this manner, bandpass-type transfer functions are realized at the output nodes along with the power-distribution functionality. In this letter, a novel wideband 3-dB Wilkinson power divider (WPD) is presented. It employs port matching using coupled lines to achieve wider isolation bandwidth, without modifying the isolation network. Due to the presence of parallel coupled lines, the design enjoys complete DC isolation. Analysis leading to closed-form design equations shows freedom in choosing design parameters. A bandpass Wilkinson power divider with a wide stopband is proposed in this letter. A three-terminal and two-pole bandpass filter and two lowpass filters are employed to substitute two quarter-wavelength transformer in the conventional Wilkinson power divider. The proposed divider achieves not only bandpass response but also a very wide stopband. The rejection is greater than 20 dB up to 22.2 f0. A novel compact structure for dual-band Wilkinson power divider has been proposed. The power divider consists of a single line, two coupled lines and four lumped elements. Using even- and odd-mode analysis, the design equations have been obtained through rigorous derivation. The odd-mode impedance Z o is a free variable here, it can be used to control the coupling between the coupled lines, as well as the values of the inductor and capacitor. This letter presents a Wilkinson power divider operating at a frequency and its first harmonic with unequal power divider ratio. To obtain the unequal property, four groups of 1/6 wavelength transmission lines with different characteristic impedances are needed to match all ports. Theoretically, closed-form equations for the design are derived based on transmission line theory. A new scheme is proposed for the dual-band operation of the Wilkinson power divider/combiner. The dual band operation is achieved by attaching two central transmission line stubs to the conventional Wilkinson divider. A broadband quadrature power splitter (QPS) is developed using the metamaterial transmission line (MM TL). It consists of a Wilkinson power divider and two phase-adjusting TLs, namely a MM TL and a microstrip (MS). The slope of the phase-response curve of the MM TL is synthesized to be the same as that of the MS along with the 90deg phase increment at two design frequencies. Hence, the broadband quadrature phase difference over the desired frequency range can be obtained. In this letter, the QPS is developed at the center frequency of 2 GHz. A Ka-band planar three-way power divider which uses the coupled line instead of the transmission line is proposed to reduce chip size. The proposed planar topology, different from the conventional Wilkinson power divider, is analyzed and can provide not only compact but also dc block characteristics, which are very suitable for monolithic microwave integrated circuit applications. The divider implemented by a pHEMT process shows an insertion loss less than 5.1 dB and an output isolation better than 17 dB. A return loss less than 18 dB and a phase difference of 4.2deg at 30 GHz can be achieved. Finally, good agreements between the simulation and experimental results are shown. This work presents a Ka-band two-way 3 dB Wilkinson power divider using synthetic quasi-transverse electromagnetic (TEM) transmission lines (TLs). The synthetic quasi-TEM TL, also called complementary-conducting-strip TL (CCS TL), is theoretically analyzed. The equivalent TL model, whose production is based on the extracted results, is applied to the power divider design. The prototype is fabricated by the standard 0.18 mum 1P6M CMOS technology, showing the circuit size of 210.0 mumtimes390.0 mum without contact pads. The measurement results, which match the 50 Omega system, reveal perfect agreements with those of the simulations. The comparison reveals the following characteristics. The divider exhibits an equal power-split with the insertion losses (S21 and S31) of 3.65 dB. The return losses (S11, S22 and S33) of the prototype are higher than 10.0 dB from 30.0 to 40.0 GHz. This letter presents a planar power divider with an effective technique for nth harmonics suppression. The proposed technique served by a microstrip electromagnetic bandgap cell is used to suppress the nth harmonics and reduce the length of a quarter-wave line over 30% as compared to the conventional divider. The planar structure enables an easy circuit design in printed circuit boards. From the measured results, a 32.5 dB suppression for the third harmonic and a 12 dB suppression for the fifth harmonic is obtained while maintaining the characteristics of a conventional Wilkinson power divider. It is able to achieve less than 3.4 0.1 dB of the two equivalent insertion losses, less than 23dB of the return loss, and better than 25dB of isolation at 2.4GHz. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

A compact Wilkinson power divider using a short circuit anti-coupled line for harmonic suppression is presented in this letter. The structure consists of a pair of anti-coupled line short circuited by a capacitive load realized by a low impedance line. It can offer three finite attenuation poles in the stopband, while arbitrary phase shift can be obtained in the passband. Design procedures have been clearly presented. A 1.8-GHz power divider is designed, fabricated and measured for demonstration. It agreed well with the simulated results. A novel planar three-way power divider is proposed. Based on the conventional planar microstrip coupled line technology, the proposed three-way power divider can modify a three-way Wilkinson power divider from a three-dimensional configuration into a two-dimensional one, meanwhile, to keep the length of the circuit to be lambda/4. A miniaturized Wilkinson power divider implemented in a standard 0.18-μm CMOS process is presented in this letter. By using active inductors for the circuit implementation, a significant area reduction can be achieved due to the absence of distributed components and spiral inductors. The power divider is designed at a center frequency of 4.5GHz for equal power dividing with all ports matched to 50Ω. Drawing a dc current of 9.3mA from a 1.8-V supply voltage, the fabricated circuit exhibits an insertion loss less than 0.16dB and a return loss better than 30dB at the center frequency while maintaining good isolation between the output ports. The active area of the miniaturized Wilkinson power divider is 150×100μm2, which is suitable for system integration in monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) applications. Phase shifters operating at RF bands are an essential component of phased and adaptive arrays circuits. In this letter, an active phase shifter is proposed, using vector summing of an in-phase and a quad-phase replica of the incoming signal. The proposed scheme was designed and implemented using a Wilkinson power combiner/divider, a branch line hybrid coupler and single-stage variable gain amplifiers (VGAs), achieving continuous phase shift within the range of [0°, 90°]. A new wide-band microstrip balun implemented on a single-layer printed circuit board (PCB) is presented in this letter. The proposed planar balun consists of a wide-band Wilkinson power divider and a noncoupled-line broad-band 180° phase shifter. To demonstrate the design methodology, one prototype is realized. The new design was simulated and validated by the measurement. Measured results show that 10-dB return loss of the unbalanced port has been achieved across the bandwidth from 1.7 GHz to 3.3 GHz, or 64%. Within the operation band, the measured return losses for both the two balanced ports are better than -10 dB, and the balanced ports isolation is below -1.5 dB. The measured amplitude and phase imbalance between the two balanced ports are within 0.3 dB and ±5°, respectively, over the operating frequency band. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

This paper presents a structure of the Wilkinson power divider that can suppress the nth harmonic output. The power divider consists of two λ/4n open stubs, which are located at the center of λ/4 branches and a parallel connection of a resistor and an inductor, which shunts the output ports. Experimental results show that this power divider suppresses the third harmonic component to less than -40 dB, while maintaining the characteristics of a conventional Wilkinson power divider; featuring an equal power split, a simultaneous impedance matching at all ports and a good isolation between output ports. The authors report the miniaturization of a planar Wilkinson power divider by capacitive loading of the quarter wave transmission lines employed in conventional Wilkinson power dividers. Reduction of the transmission line segments from λ/4 to between λ/5 and λ/12 are reported here. The input and output lines at the three ports and the lines comprising the divider itself are coplanar waveguide (CPW) and asymmetric coplanar stripline (ACPS), respectively. The 10 GHz power dividers are fabricated on high resistivity silicon (HRS) and alumina wafers. These miniaturized dividers are 74% smaller than conventional Wilkinson power dividers, and have a return loss better than +30 dB and an insertion loss less than 0.55 dB.
