The homodyned-K (HK) distribution is a three-parameter density function used to study mixed-species radar and ultrasound scattering phenomena. We analyze the distribution that results from corrupting the HK with additive Gaussian noise (HKN). This modification enables analytic study of the HK in the presence of system thermal noise in radar and ultrasound systems. The moments of intensity of the HKN are derived and a new moment method parameter estimation algorithm is tested in simulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
