Abstract

The design, construction and operation of a magnet system comprising of 2 high temperature superconducting (HTS) coils separated by 164 mm, encompassing a plasma coating module, are described. The replacement of high energy density permanent magnets with electromagnets is examined in order to achieve higher fields and vary the field in time during a given coating process.
