Abstract

A reconfigurable audio amplifier is proposed. It can be configured to operate as standard dual-bridge, as high-efficiency dual-bridge, or as high-power mono-bridge amplifier. Moreover, all the above configurations can be set in low-noise mode. The built-in diagnostic with an [I.sup.2]C-bus interface completes the above features. The device, realized in a 0.6[micro]m technology, delivers to 1[OMEGA] up to 150W in high-power mode, saves 50% of the dissipated power in high-efficiency configuration, and has a 16[micro]Vrms in-band output noise in low-noise configuration.
