As part of business and management studies, research works addressed blockchain technology (BCT) in logistics and supply chain management (LSCM) first in 2016. Increasing levels of interest from researchers and practitioners alike have led to an increasing number of studies from both ends; however, a thorough bibliometric- and cocitation network analysis of BCT in LSCM research has not been carried out so far. To address this gap and to build a basis for future research endeavors, this article provides a bibliometric analysis on BCT, comprising data from 613 articles from academic supply chain research. It is therefore an easy-to-access entry point for academics and practitioners into the topic of BCT in LSCM. This study aims to understand the status of research of BCT in LSCM. To present the results, this article employs a bibliometric analysis methodology. It adopts a citation network analysis and a cocitation analysis. Based on a cocitation analysis, this article classifies the existing literature into five different research clusters, including theoretical sensemaking, conceptualizing and testing blockchain applications, framing BCT into supply chains, the technical design of BCT applications for real-world LSCM applications, and the role of BCT within digital supply chains. The front end (FE) of innovation is critical for a firm's new product success. Since academic interest in this research field has increased significantly, we include 168 FE papers and their 9119 references to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the FE literature. We use cocitation analysis to reduce their risk of researchers’ implicit bias. We show that 11 intellectual research bases characterize extant FE literature: new product development (NPD) capabilities, NPD process, knowledge creation and NPD, organizational NPD creativity, externally influenced NPD creativity, external NPD creativity, new process development, social NPD capital, new product success, NPD project performance, and competitive NPD advantages. The citation burst analysis shows that researchers have varying degrees of interests in these topics. A better understanding of FE research's intellectual background and the identification of hot, cold, and evergreen FE topics are valuable contributions. For instance, FE researchers discuss the nature and characteristics of FE activities by referring to NPD process and new-process literature. The term “business incubator” (BI) has become an accepted neologism among academics, practitioners, and policymakers. This is despite the lack of an agreed definition amongst scholars of what exactly constitutes a BI. Using a systematic literature review methodology, we identify and analyze definitions of BIs used in published academic research papers and practice papers over a 35-year period. In this article, we undertake a thematic analysis, using the software package NVivo, of 82 academic and 14 practice definitions used in 61 publications. Our analysis shows that definitions of BIs are constructed around three core themes: the business incubation model; the purpose of the incubator; and the target of support provided by the incubator. By identifying both consistencies and inconsistencies in existing definitions, we provide a more nuanced understanding of the heterogeneity that underlies the organizational form referred to as a BI. Mass customization (MC), as an operations program to satisfy target consumers by offering personalized products or services, has attracted substantial attention from both the industry and academia. Under this program, one of the most important issues is an efficient management of the related inventories, including the work-in-process inventories, standard items, and the customized items, which can ultimately contribute to a profitable business for the companies who have launched MC. This paper, therefore, focuses on reviewing the mass customization based literature and identifying various methods to effectively manage inventory for MC schemes. In addition to regular inventory management, with the increasing emphasis on corporate social responsibility, MC companies are required to devote more effort to the proper management of leftover and returned inventories under MC. This paper, hence, examines MC inventory management in both forward and reverse logistics. Findings from this review provide a guideline to operations managers on inventory management improvement in their MC operations. In this article, with the increased disruptions faced by businesses and the occurrence of natural disasters in the world, supply chain resilience remains a major challenge especially for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Despite the relevance of SMEs to the economy, there is limited scholarly work on resilience practices in SMEs and a limited understanding of how SMEs can achieve resilience. To understand the role of supply chain resilience in SMEs, we undertake a systematic literature review (SLR), which results in the identification and analysis of 101 journal articles, published between 2006 and 2019, on SME supply chain resilience. Our analysis into SME supply chain resilience highlights four focal areas: 1) the role of collaboration and culture; 2) the role of SMEs’ capabilities; 3) the role of Information Systems; and (4) the role of cost and financing. Over the past few decades, the impact of customer integration on radical new product (RNP) innovation has been extensively investigated. To date, this important topic presents inconsistent empirical findings that must be converged. In this paper, our systematic literature review addresses these inconsistencies by taking a consolidated view of customer integration's effects on the development of RNPs. This extensive review of 153 empirical papers has two main objectives. First, we provide the primary reasons for inconsistent findings by scrutinizing the operationalizations of customer types (i.e., current customers, potential customers, ordinary users, or users with domain-specific skills) and RNPs (i.e., technological innovativeness, or both technological and market innovativeness) used in the studies, as well as the different perspectives on customer integration [i.e., customer-based idea evaluation, participation in direct and indirect idea generation, research and development (R&D) partnerships with customers, having a customer orientation, and disseminating customer knowledge via R&D-marketing collaborations]. Second, we present a synthesized view on factors in the sphere of the innovating company and the customer that influence customer integration's success along three phases of the radical innovation development process (i.e., discovery, incubation, and acceleration). Industry 4.0 (I4.0) adoption provides an opportunity for high-technology-based, value-added processes and requires an infrastructural transformation and more qualified employee involvement. The I4.0 literature contains researches presenting an awareness, guidance, and complementary activities for an I4.0 concept. However, there is no detailed study focusing on the challenges and implementation problems in I4.0 adoption. Hence, the purpose of this paper is determining the I4.0 adoption challenges and analyzing these barriers based on the expert opinions. The methodology within the scope of this paper contains the literature review, interviews with experts who are responsible for the I4.0 projects at Bosch, analyzing the determined barriers by interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and cross impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) analysis. The barriers are investigated in a structural base, the relationships between these challenges have been identified, and finally how barriers affect each other has been presented in order to discover the root cause triggering the other factors. An I4.0 practitioner can infer from these two analysis results that which challenge should be focused first in order to reach a solution. Additionally, an ISM case study results provides a general view to the I4.0 adoption process. The concept of the smart city has been created in response to the increasing numbers of people living in cities. Just as the development of technology has evolved rapidly, smart life has also emerged. The goal of the smart city is one day to enable all affairs of daily life to be completed with the single touch of a finger through cutting-edge technology. New and innovative information must be applied effectively to the industry. With the industrial revolution, propelled by the Internet of Things (IoT), big data and the cloud platform have birthed the “smart city,” integrating the IoT and the cloud through mobile devices and applying technology to fields like logistics, finance, healthcare, recreation, surveillance, and traffic transportation, thus providing people with greater well-being and convenience. Following the era of the big data knowledge economy, the IoT has become an important pillar of national economic development. The IoT is expected to provide substantial support for continued and sustainable development of the smart city. Therefore, effective use of the IoT has become an important topic in smart city development. The purpose of this paper is to build a conceptual framework of service innovation, relying on the smart city case of Taiwan. Based on a literature review, in-depth interviews, and case interviews, the proposed conceptual framework of IoT is rooted in the market, policy, and technical aspects. It incorporates eight steps: composition of the project team, service idea generation, service idea screening, development concept selection, design and development, service testing, commercialization, and service quality, to generate new service value and thereby create customer satisfaction. In fact, the IoT is designed to support the smart city vision; thus, this paper describes the various innovation modes of the smart city. Furthermore, the paper presents and discusses the technical solutions and best-practice guidelines adopted in the Taiwan Smart City project. Finally, it discusses the meaning and future research direction of the smart city through the use of the IoT. With wave after wave of digital development civilizing the city's evolution and with the phenomenon of Internet access through mobile phones for each person, the smart city of human factors is clearly coming. Literature defines two main streams in project management: mechanistic and organic. Mechanistic reflects the traditional waterfall approach and organic reflects a more adaptive approach. The organic approach became known by the awareness of dynamic project environment and changing requirements. The organic approach is characterized by flexibility. Accordingly, scholars and practitioners tried to define flexibility and find ways to make project management more flexible. However, scientific literature about practitioners’ perspectives on making project management flexible is lacking. Therefore, this paper explores practitioners’ perspectives on project management flexibility by the use of Q-methodology. The scope of the paper was narrowed down to the front-end phase of infrastructure projects. Two types of organizations were targeted: client and consultancy organizations. Data were gathered from 43 respondents from six organizations (three client and three consultancy organizations) in The Netherlands. The results of the study reveal three distinct perspectives on flexibility for both organization types (client and consultant): flexibility by trust, flexibility by scope management, and flexibility by proactive management. These perspectives partly support defined flexibility categories in literature. Further research could focus on exploring the perspectives in different project phases, operationalizing the perspectives in practice, and team composition taking into account these perspectives. Six Sigma has been one of the most popular initiatives to improve management processes over the past few decades. Amidst the success stories on the Six Sigma, there exist some literature studies on the criticisms of Six Sigma. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the existing literature on the criticisms of Six Sigma through a systematic literature review. The criticisms need to be analyzed so that there is growth in the knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma. This paper analyzes literature through various electronic databases such as Academic Source Premier (EBSCO), Google Scholar, Business Source Premier (EBSCO), Emerald Insight, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, JSTOR, ProQuest, Science Direct, Taylor & Francis, PubMed, Wiley, Inderscience, Scopus, and World Public Library. Sixty-one relevant articles are found and analyzed in depth. This paper finds 12 major themes of criticisms on Six Sigma. Based on the findings, 16 research directions are offered. Amidst the plethora of literature review on the success of Six Sigma, this is the first comprehensive systematic literature review on the criticisms of Six Sigma. The authors firmly believe that such criticisms will help the academicians as well as the practitioners to understand some of the rudimentary gaps in implementing Six Sigma as a business improvement strategy. Risk management is considered as a vital process contributing to the successful outcome of a complex construction project in terms of achieving the associated project objectives. The widely used industrial practice in managing construction project risks is to assign probability and impact values to each risk and to map risks on a risk matrix. The main criticism of this practice relates to ignoring complex interdependencies between risks and using point estimates for probability and impact values. Furthermore, risks mapped on a matrix are deemed to influence a specific objective and there is a challenge involved in aggregating the impact of risks across multiple (conflicting) project objectives. Utilizing a data-driven Bayesian Belief Network methodology, in this paper we introduce a new process where the risks mapped on a risk matrix corresponding to each project objective are aggregated and modeled as a risk network, and a holistic impact of each risk is captured across the network by means of new risk metrics. The proposed methodology is demonstrated through a real application. The results specific to the two ranking schemes (assuming independence/interdependence of risks) are found to be negatively correlated, which substantiates the importance of utilizing an interdependency-based risk management process. The recent success of startups resulted in an increasing interest concerning entrepreneurship approaches. However, there is a lack of studies with focusing on the understanding of how entrepreneurs experience these concepts and tools in practice. This paper investigates how entrepreneurs apply new entrepreneurship methodologies to create new businesses. Moreover, it aims at identifying the most important phases and activities. The research design is a survey-based research with a sample of 87 Brazilian startup entrepreneurs. As a result, a recursive stage-based framework for supporting startup initiation that combines concepts and tools from the lean startup, the business model canvas, and design thinking approaches are incorporated in recursive learning loops. Functional and nonfunctional characteristics of software systems are defined by their architecture. Therefore, research streams such as Internet-of-Things (IoT) or component-based software engineering provide researchers and practitioners with construction guidelines for selected architectural characteristics. Current systems can be categorized in delivering services to the user and being engineered in a smart way. For example, services being provided by IoT-Systems must fulfill users’ goals in a highly dynamic and ad-hoc way. Consequently, this survey aims at answering various research questions regarding the methodical composition of system components and services. Furthermore, new research opportunities are sketched that should be tackled to make the scientific progress available to practitioners. Based on a systematic literature review from a software architecture point of view, in this paper we identify 75 primary studies for domain-specific IoT component composition approaches and architectures. Initial results show that current integration approaches mainly focus on performance evaluation of their integration solutions, which may be too narrow for fulfilling user goals by utilizing of IoT architectures. Drastic increases in the scale and complexity of engineered systems present many new challenges for the product development (PD) and engineering design communities. PD is characterized by the development of large, multidisciplinary, and networked systems that cannot be embraced by a single group or organization. Appropriate PD management principles can circumvent many of the difficulties that arise during the PD process. In this article, the author presents an integrative literature review that includes theories, models, and tools that can be used to manage complex PD. The review is structured around three PD analysis domains: product, people, and process. The review does not identify all the publications in any one PD domain, but instead addresses critical issues that exist within each domain and at the intersection of these domains. By reviewing these representative papers and creating a critical discussion around them, the intent is to provide an overview of the available theories, models, and tools for PD practitioners, while simultaneously identifying opportunities for future research. Research on new product development (NPD) has grown considerably over the last 30 years interweaving with serval fields of study such as strategy, marketing, supply chain management, and project management. This article offers an overview of the development of the NPD management literature published over the last ten years (2008 to 2018) in 1226 peer-reviewed articles. By applying bibliometric analysis, we have discovered the existence of five research clusters focused on the following main thematic areas: the NPD process, the integration of diverse knowledge sources for NPD optimization, the relationship between NPD and corporate strategy, the role of users and consumers in the NPD process, and the supplier involvement in the NPD activities. In respect of each area, we selected and reviewed the most relevant contributions and presented the emerging theoretical approaches and best practices. Also, the analysis has helped us to uncover the existence of promising research areas that have been scarcely explored. This paper presents a novel framework for improving project outcomes by ensuring that systems requirements can be verified and validated against project objectives and constraints. The multiattribute process ensures that each requirement makes a measurable contribution toward meeting a system's intended use while considering the impact of known constraints. This new framework aims to increase the likelihood of program success by identifying and valuing requirements in the early stages of a system's development. This research very explicitly extends previous research and aims to overcome complications that have persisted within the literature with regard to selecting and prioritizing system requirements. This paper proposes a two-stage multi-attribute auction mechanism for market price discovery and to determine the winning bidder. In the first stage, the buyer announces a multi-attribute value function and a set of budget levels. The bidders submit sealed-bids for quality attributes against each budget level announced. The buyer uses the proposed procedure to estimate the cost function of each vendor and to determine the reservation quality for prequalification. Using these estimated cost functions, the buyer derives the optimal scoring function. In the second stage, the buyer announces the scoring function and conducts an open bid ascending auction using the qualified set of vendors from the first stage to determine the winner. The main purpose of the mechanism is to provide detailed information to the buyer about the procurement environment. This helps the buyer to make informed decisions while designing an appropriate scoring function. We showed that the proposed mechanism induces competitive bids from the vendors and there is no incentive for them to deviate from quality values submitted in the first stage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to increased competitive pressure, modern organizations tend to rely on knowledge and its exploitation to sustain a long-term advantage. This calls for a precise understanding of knowledge management (KM) processes and, specifically, how knowledge is created, shared/transferred, acquired, stored/retrieved, and applied throughout an organizational system. However, since the beginning of the new millennium, such KM processes have been deeply affected and molded by the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, also called Industry 4.0, which involves the interconnectedness of machines and their ability to learn and share data autonomously. For this reason, the present article investigates the intellectual structure and trends of KM in Industry 4.0. Bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review are conducted on a total of 90 relevant articles. The results reveal six clusters of keywords, subsequently explored via a systematic literature review to identify potential stream of this emergent field and future research avenues capable of producing meaningful advances in managerial knowledge of Industry 4.0 and its consequences. The past two decades have seen a tremendous growth in innovation processes conceived under scarcity conditions with special focus on emerging markets and bottom of the pyramid (BOP) customers. However, evolving literature in this field has unfortunately resulted in a multitude of innovation approaches leading to terminology confusion and fragmented literature. Hence, this study is an attempt to systematically organize and synthesize the research on innovation approaches originated in, for or from emerging markets. An extensive systematic review of the existing literature is carried out to investigate the progress of prior research, and to use the insights to define future research pathways. This review is primarily based on the most frequently used innovation approaches, especially frugal innovation, jugaad, disruptive innovation, Gandhian innovation, catalytic innovation, indigenous innovation, bricolage, blowback innovation, trickle-up innovation, resource-constrained innovation, and BOP innovation. Our analysis finds growing standardization in terminology usage and increasing emphasis on “bottom-up” and structured innovation approaches. De-emphasizing the role of technology transfers and spillovers from the West, the findings exhibit increasing applications of these innovations beyond emerging markets to wider markets. Our research results also shed light on the evolution of the topic and instigate further research explorations in the direction of analyzing the user adoption of these constraint-based innovations and understanding the influence of new technological advancements, such as the Internet, mobile telecommunications, and Web 2.0 on the innovation process, with a special focus on the service industry. Blockchain can be used to build a peer-to-peer, secure, and smart transaction system. As a horizontal technology that has changed several fields of industry, blockchain has tremendous potential to transform healthcare systems as well. In this article, a systematic review is conducted to critically evaluate 64 articles on blockchain-based healthcare systems, published between 2016 and January 2020 in 21 conferences, 33 journals, and ten online sources. The aim of this article is to answer three main questions. First, what are the applications of blockchain in the healthcare systems, and what are the structures and challenges of applying blockchain to a specific healthcare domain? Second, what are the technical, temporal, and spatial aspects of the currently developed blockchain applications for different healthcare domain? Third, what are the future research directions in designing and implementing blockchain-based healthcare systems? Statistical facts about the technical aspects of these 64 articles show that most of the proposed blockchain-based healthcare systems use private blockchain and Ethereum platforms; furthermore, the majority of the authors are affiliated with research institutions in the USA and China. We also discuss potential future research directions, e.g., integrating the blockchain in artificial intelligence based solutions, cloud-computing-based solutions, and parallel blockchain architecture. Innovation is seen today as an indispensable practice if an organization wishes to achieve competitive advantage and sustainable success in the marketplace. The development of new products and services and new technologies that enable those products and services seem to be the crown jewel of innovation. The management of these technologies, more specifically the process through which technologies are transferred, has been the focus of scholarly debates and studies for several decades. Currently, there are no quantitative, comprehensive, and easily applicable models in the literature that researchers and practitioners can use to assess organizations’ technology transfer capabilities. This article has sought to delineate important factors and perspectives applicable to technology transfer, and to use those in order to assess an organization's capabilities, through the application of a hierarchical decision modeling model to create a technology transfer score. The research model is applied to a utility company in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, and the results provide insights on how to measure and interpret technology transfer capabilities as well as a starting point for technology managers to improve those capabilities. While the number of women with Coronary Heart Disease requiring cardiac rehabilitation (CR) continues to increase, lack of access and other barriers to center-based CR present significant challenges. A mobile phone and wearable device-based technological system can offer home-based secondary prevention program for CHD. We have designed a women-specific digital health intervention system for use in a home-based CR program. The system that we have proposed combines human-expert intelligence with machine intelligence to enhance the decision-making capability of a health coach. We have evaluated the prototype of our system with eight women with CHD for over 13 weeks. The evaluation has shown a significant positive impact of preprogrammed intervention messages on participants’ walking performance on the same and the next day. Since increased walking activities directly improve heart health, we can directly infer that our proposed system is beneficial as a tool for secondary prevention among women with CHD. The question of how institutional entrepreneurs working on megaprojects successfully enact change in regard to logic practices remains an unsolved problem in megaproject management literature. Building on an in-depth case study of a megaproject in China, we examine how institutional entrepreneurs manage in order to transform a conventional construction logic into a new logic of “mechanization, autoassembling, and factory construction” in steel bridge industry. We present a model of institutional work conducted by entrepreneurs for institutional entrepreneurship in the megaproject platform. Based on this case, we highlight the significance of institutional compatibility and institutional governmentality in implementing the new logic practices. This article contributes to the literature by examining the different forms of institutional work conducted by entrepreneurs with the aim of driving the institutional changes, and exploring the relationship between megaproject management and institutional entrepreneurship. In this article, a deterministic model for the selection and ranking of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components is developed on the basis of fuzzy modified distance-based approach (FMDBA). The COTS selection and ranking problem is modeled as multicriteria decision making problem due to the involvement of multiple ranking criteria like functionality, reliability, compatibility, etc. FMDBA is the combination of the fuzzy set theory and the modified distance-based approach. To show the working of the developed ranking model, a case study of the e-payment system is demonstrated which aims on the selection and ranking of eight COTS components over four major categories of ranking criteria. FMDBA provides a comprehensive ranking of the components based on their calculated composite distance values. A product roadmap depicts the vision and direction of a product offering over time. It is a guiding strategic document as well as a plan for executing the strategy, which communicates the why and what behind the product's development. Fulfilling the market demand for solutions composed of products and services requires new approaches for roadmapping. This article presents a method for the definition and managing of a product-service system (PSS) roadmap based on both the market needs and the technology change likelihood. In this way, an integrated management of the PSS's product and service shares is performed, which also supports the shift from different PSS types (product-, use- or performance-oriented). The proposed approach is based on the acceptance, ephemerality, importance, operationalize, and urgency variables: importance and urgency relate to market requirements, acceptance, and operational relate to technology choices, and ephemerality relates to how both the requirements and/or technologies are likely to change in a given time horizon. To illustrate and evaluate the approach, a roadmap is developed for a home appliance. The severe resource constraints that characterize markets at the bottom of the world's economic pyramid have forced firms to innovate both their products and processes. However, discourse in frugal innovation literature on how firms can design frugal processes in response to the resource constraints they face remains relatively sparse. Based on a systematic literature review, in this article we consolidate existing work on the process echelon of frugal innovation. We outline three ways frugal processes that have been conceptualized in the literature thus far, and distill their key characteristics. Based on an exploration of the supply chains of 87 small- and medium-sized enterprises, we show how firms configure these characteristics to overcome resource constraints at each stage of their supply chain. Ultimately, we propose three archetypes of a frugal supply chain that firms can strategically adopt. Firms with the primary goal of increasing consumer access to affordable products opt for a supply-chain structure that favors traditional economies of scale, and postpone any decentralization as further downstream as possible. In contrast, firms aiming to provide consumers with greener alternatives can adopt a hyperdecentralized structure throughout their supply-chain, which is made economically viable through low-cost approaches to distributed manufacturing. Frugal innovation is the process of innovating to respond to severe resource constraints with products that have cost advantages compared with existing solutions. The philosophy behind frugal innovation can be applied to both products and services from different sectors, as shown by academia and managerial applications. In this article, the purpose is to examine the intellectual structure of the developing domain of frugal-innovation research in order to identify the most active and influential communities, as well as the most seminal works and the most active scholars. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of the literature on frugal innovation. The outcomes of our analysis allow us to offer an objective and scientific mapping of the development of this field. Four distinct intellectual communities have been identified: strategic challenges, inclusive development, sustainability, and industrial application. Reaching integrated agreement has been advocated to be the optimal outcome in dispute negotiation. When this is not achieved, the outcome is suboptimal and can be technically identified as a form of failure. This study introduces a fuzzy fault tree analysis (FFTA) approach to conceptualize the root causes of construction dispute negotiation failure. The FFTA framework also enables assessment of negotiation failure occurrence likelihood. Employing the proposed framework, an empirical study was conducted. The findings suggest that construction dispute negotiation failure is highly probable and the main causes are inadequate preparation, inappropriate behavior, and contract governance.
