This paper presents a new soft-switching dc/dc converter with series-connected transformers to implement the features of zero-voltage switching (ZVS), load current sharing, low voltage stress for MOSFETs, and low current rating for the rectifier diodes and the output inductors. The proposed converter includes two half-bridge circuits connected in series to limit the voltage stress of MOSFETs at one-half of the input voltage. The output sides of the two circuits are connected in parallel to reduce the current rating on the rectifier diodes and the output inductors and to achieve load current sharing. In order to balance two output inductor currents, series-connected transformers at the low-voltage side are adopted. Thus, the output power is equally distributed by the two half-bridge circuits. The output capacitances of MOSFETs and the resonant inductances are resonant at the transition instant such that MOSFETs can be turned on at ZVS. Finally, experiments based on a laboratory prototype with 1-kW rated power are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed converter.

This paper proposes a zero-voltage switching (ZVS) pulsewidth modulation (PWM) dc/dc converter with current double rectifiers to achieve ZVS for all switches under a wide range of load conditions and input voltages. Two three-level PWM circuits sharing the same power switches are adopted in the proposed converter to reduce the voltage stress of each MOSFET at Vin/2 and achieve load current sharing. Thus, the current stress and power rating at the secondary-side components are reduced. The current double rectifiers are used at the secondary side to partially cancel the output ripple current. Thus, the sizes of the magnetic components and output filter capacitance are reduced. Due to the resonant behavior by the resonant inductance and resonant capacitance at the transition interval, all switches are turned on at ZVS. The experimental results based on a 1-kW prototype are provided to verify the operation principle of the proposed converter.

This paper presents a new soft-switching dc/dc converter for high-input-voltage applications. Two half-bridge converters connected in series with interleaved asymmetric pulsewidth modulation (PWM) are adopted to limit the voltage stress of each power switch at one-half of the input dc bus voltage. In each half-bridge converter, two asymmetrical dc/dc circuits with the same active switches are connected in parallel at the output side to share the load current and reduce the current stresses of the secondary windings and rectifier diodes. Since two half-bridge converters are operated with interleaved PWM, the output ripple currents partially cancel each other so that the resultant ripple current at the output side is reduced. Active switches in the proposed circuit can be turned on at zero-voltage switching during the transition interval due to the resonant behavior by the output capacitance of MOSFETs and the leakage inductance of transformers. Experiments based on a laboratory prototype with 960-W rated power are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed converter.

This paper presents a new series-resonant converter with series-connected transformers in order to realize zero voltage switching (ZVS) for power switches, zero current switching (ZCS) for rectifier diodes at full load, less transformer secondary winding with a full-wave rectifier, and load current sharing. Two series-resonant converters using the same switches are operated with interleaved half switching cycle. The secondary windings of transformers are connected in series in order to ensure that the primary side currents are balanced to share load current. Thus, the sizes of the transformer core and bobbin are reduced. The full-wave diode rectifier is adopted on the output side such that the voltage stress of the rectifier diodes is equal to the output voltage, rather than being two times the output voltage as in a conventional center-tapped rectifier topology. Based on the resonant behavior, all switches are turned on at ZVS, and rectifier diodes are turned off at ZCS if the switching frequency is less than the series resonant frequency. The proposed converter can be applied for the power supply unit of all-in-one PCs, liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs and servers, and dc-dc converters for fuel-cell power system. Laboratory experiments with a 1000-W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

A new series resonant converter with a parallel-series transformer connection is proposed in order to achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) for all power switching, zero current switching (ZCS) for rectifier diodes at a full load, and less transformer secondary winding with a full-wave rectifier. For high-output-voltage applications, the primary windings of two transformers are connected in parallel in order to share the input current and reduce the root-mean-square rms current on the primary windings such that the copper losses on the transformers are reduced. The secondary windings of the two transformers are connected in series in order to ensure that the primary side currents are balanced and the secondary winding turns are also reduced. Thus, the sizes of the transformer core and bobbin are reduced. The full-wave diode rectifier is used on the output side. Thus, the voltage stress of the rectifier diode is equal to the output voltage rather than being two times the output voltage as that in a center-tapped rectifier topology. Based on the resonant behavior, all switches are turned on at the ZVS, and the rectifier diodes are turned off at the ZCS if the operating switching frequency is less than the series resonant frequency. The laboratory experiments with a 660-W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

A high step-up conversion-ratio converter with soft switching is presented in this paper. By using both coupled inductors and isolated transformer, high voltage gain can be easily achieved without extremely high duty ratio. To deal with switching losses, the active clamping circuit is adopted to achieve the zero-voltage-switching turn-on feature for power switches and to absorb the energy stored in the leakage inductor. Moreover, the series-resonant tanks composed by leakage inductors of the transformer and resonant capacitors are used to achieve the zero-current-switching turn-off feature for rectifier diodes at the output side. Therefore, the turn-on switching loss of power switches and the reverse-recovery problem of rectifier diodes can be eliminated. The operational principles and design consideration are discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results taken from a 400-W prototype are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

A dual resonant converter with two transformers is presented in this paper. Dual resonant tanks are composed of leakage inductors and resonant capacitors to achieve zero-current-switching turnoff for rectifier diodes at the secondary side of the transformer. Hence, the reverse-recovery problem of the rectifier diodes can be eliminated. Moreover, the active-clamp circuit does not only absorb the energy stored in the leakage inductor but also clamp the voltage stress of power switches. Compared to the conventional dual resonant converter, the zero-voltage switching operation of the proposed converter is easily achieved by using two transformers. The operation principles, design considerations, and realization are discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results from a 400-W laboratory prototype are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

This paper presents an active snubber dc/dc converter to realize the zero voltage switching of power switches. Thus, the switching losses on power switches can be reduced. The primary windings of two transformers are connected in parallel to reduce the transformer current stresses. To reduce the transformer secondary winding turns at high-output-voltage applications and distribute output power to two transformers, two transformer secondary windings are connected in series. Thus, the transformer primary currents are automatically balanced. A full-wave diode rectifier is used at the secondary side to realize full-wave rectification at the output side and reduce voltage stress on rectifier diodes. Finally, the performance of the proposed converter is evaluated on a 600-W (400 V/1.5 A) laboratory prototype.

In this paper, an interleaved soft-switching converter with ripple-current cancellation is presented to achieve zero- voltage-switching (ZVS) turn-on and load current sharing. In order to achieve ZVS turn-on, an active snubber is connected in parallel with the primary winding of the transformer. The energy stored in the transformer leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance can be recovered so that the peak voltage stress of switching devices is limited. The resonance at the transition interval is used to realize ZVS turn-on of all switches. In order to achieve three-level pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) scheme, an addition fast-recovery diode is used in the converter. Three-level PWM scheme can reduce the ac ripple current on the output inductor such that the output inductor can be reduced. The current-doubler rectifier is adopted in the secondary side of the transformer to reduce the transformer secondary-winding current and output voltage ripple by canceling the current ripple of two output inductors. The output voltage is controlled at the desired value using the interleaved PWM scheme. These features make the proposed converter suitable for the dc-dc converter with high output current. The operation principles, steady state analysis, and design equations of the proposed converter are provided in detail. Finally, experiments based on a 600-W (12 V/50 A) prototype are provided to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed converter.

A soft-switching converter is presented in this paper to achieve a zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn on for all switches. Two half-bridge converters with asymmetric pulsewidth-modulation scheme are connected in parallel to control the output voltage at the desired value and achieve load-current sharing. Based on the output capacitance of power switches and the resonant inductance, including the external inductance and the transformer leakage inductance, the resonance can be achieved at the transition interval of power switches. Therefore, the ZVS turn on of power switches can be realized. The peak voltage of the power switches is limited to input dc voltage. The center-tapped rectifier is adopted at the transformer secondary side to achieve a full-wave rectification. Operation principles, steady-state analysis, and design equations of the proposed converter are discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results based on a 240-W prototype are provided to verify the performance and the feasibility of the proposed converter.
