This paper promotes the use of numerical methods as an alternative tool in order to evaluate and manage electromagnetic compatibility in health care facilities. Numerical analysis is performed employing the Transmission Line Modeling (TLM) Method and Kriging, which are supported by measurement tests, providing a reliable assessment of the electromagnetic profile established in clinical environments. Index Terms--Electric field measurement, health care facilities, numerical analysis, transmission line modeling method.

This paper presents the combination of two different techniques [transmission line modeling (TLM) and Kriging methods] in the sense to optimize the effective signal cover inside buildings searching for the optimal transmitters locations in indoor wireless system. This paper presents an implementation of the h-p adaptive version of the finite element method in 3D problems using hierarchic hexahedral elements. The process is driven by an error estimator based on the complete local residual. The algorithm to refine the mesh and the method to deal with nonconforming meshes are explained. Also, a technique to build the basis functions during the process is proposed. Two examples shows the efficacy of this work. The application of Bio - Electric Circuits Model (BECM) concepts can destroy the cancer cells. Complete Response (CR) + Partial Response (PR) about 80% was obtained in more than three thousand cases from different types of human's cancer. We agree that the treatment of cancer using the concepts of BECM utilize the same principle of the Hyperthermia Techniques in cancer therapy. This paper estimates the tumor temperature distribution when the BECM is applied in cancer area. Finite Element Method is used to determine the temperature distribution inside human model caused to the application of BECM in tumor region. The simulation of the use of BECM in tumor situated at the thorax region is presented. The aim of this work is to indicate the new hyperthermia technique where a dc current is used directly in the tumor (contrary to irradiating the cancer area with high frequencies) to determine the temperature distribution on this area. This paper presents a method for analysing the quality of a finite element problem. The finite element shape distortion and order of interpolation are linked to the conditioning of the stiffness matrix of the finite element linear system in order to define a good quality criterion. The study is carried out for standard first and second order elements. The proposed quality criterion works on every kind of finite element shape.

This paper concerns theory and implementation of p and h-p adaptive versions of finite element method. The different procedures of adaptivity and the optimal mesh concept are discussed and a methodology to obtain optimal or quasi optimal meshes with hierarchical elements is presented. The error estimator used and the algorithm implemented are also presented. The efficiency is demonstrated in two classical 2D examples. In this examples, we have analysed both cases the regular solution and non regular one, and the meshes obtained during the adaptive processes are compared.

Adaptive mesh generation involves the improvement of the finite elements solution on the basis of the error estimates by either refining the mesh (h-typ refinement), or improving the trial function (p-type refinement), or both methods in conjunction. In this paper these methods are described. The Delaunay method is employed to implement the initial and adaptive mesh. The error criterion used is based on discontinuities of the magnetic field or the flux density between neighboring elements. An electrical device is simulated to validate the methods.

In this paper, three methods for local error estimation to adaptive mesh generation in finite element method are tested and compared. In the two first the errors are estimated from boundary conditions violation at the borders of the elements. In the third method, the error estimation is reached from perturbation in the magnetic induction B. Two examples are used to test the three methods: The magnetostatic analysis of a contactor and the calculation of forces exerted by permanent magnets.

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the forces that appear in tumor region when the DC current flows in it. The knowledge of the electromagnetic force distribution inside the region of study is very important because the DC current therapy (ECT) produce the destruction of tumor cells. When the DC current is applied the reduction of tumor size occur. Additionally, the DC current flowing in the tumor promotes the micro thromboses (desirable effect). The micro thromboses consist in the blockade of arterial vessels that feed the malignant cells leading to regression of the tumor. So, one component responsible of these effects are the electromagnetic forces distribution in the tumor area. The determination of these force distributions involves three steps of numerical evaluations: a) J determination, b) B determination and c) knowing (in the domain of study) the vectors J and B the vector F should be determined. Indeed, the knowledge of force distributions in the area of interest will allow the better understanding of the phenomena that occur in the cancerous cells when the ECT is applied in human beings.
