This Mini-Special Issue of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MICROWAVE THEORY AND TECHNIQUES (TMTT) is devoted to the 2019 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC 2019), Singapore, December 10–13, 2019. APMC is one of the premier international conferences in the microwave community. The conference brought in a unique mix of high-quality keynote, invited, and contributed papers by world-class speakers from academia and industry, providing an opportunity for microwave family members to exchange their visions, insights, challenges, and progress in microwaves. It received a total submission of 1064 papers covering microwave to terahertz spectrum with a variety of applications by the authors from 56 countries/regions and finally accepted 720 papers after careful and rigorous peer review. The conference consisted of 71 technical oral and poster sessions from 53 technical tracks, eight workshops/short courses, 29 invited talks, and two plenary talks. In particular, 17 special sessions are convened by session organizers to discuss emerging technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE MTT-S) International Microwave Symposium (IMS) was held in Montreal, QC, Canada, on June 17?22, 2012, and the conference Chair introduced several exciting ideas to stimulate paper submissions to the conference. First, the conference committee made a determined effort to increase publicity, especially in Asia. Second, and definitely more controversial, they reduced the paper length from the traditional four pages to three pages. The thought behind this was that it would make it easier for authors to write a journal paper based on the conference paper because the conference paper would not contain as much technical information. Thus, the authors would have an easier time meeting the IEEE MTT-S threshold that every paper, whether conference or journal, must present substantially new technical material. There were a record number of submissions to the IEEE MTT-S IMS, and there were a record number of submissions to this TRANSACTIONS' "Special Issue on the 2012 International Microwave Symposium." In fact, there were too many submissions for the reviewers, the Associate Editors, and me to complete all of the papers before the deadline for the December issue. Therefore, I have divided the IEEE MTT-S IMS "Special Issue on the 2012 International Microwave Symposium" into two parts, which will be published in this TRANSACTIONS' December 2012 and January 2013 issues. In the January 2013 Special Issue, the Editor-in-Chief will write a full editorial detailing the number of papers, the acceptance rate, and my opinion on the success or failure of the three-page experiment. In the meantime, please enjoy this Special Issue with 32 papers based on papers presented at the 2012 IEEE MTT-S IMS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTEGRATED circuits , *ELECTRONIC circuits , *RADIO frequency , *FREQUENCIES of oscillating systems , *CONFERENCES & conventions - Abstract
The IEEE Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems (SiRF) is a conference dedicated to the field of Si-based RF research, which encompasses the material, technology, devices, and more increasingly, circuits and systems, all based on Si for RF applications. Since its first meeting in 1998, it has continuously contributed to the popular adaption of Si technology to RF and millimeter-wave applications. After alternating between the US and Europe for the conference venues for the first five meetings, which were held every 1.5 years, SiRF has been annually held in the US since 2006 as part of IEEE Radio and Wireless Week. The 12th SiRF was held in Santa Clara, CA, January 16?18, 2012. One new attempt made for this year's conference was to encourage the authors of the presented papers to submit an expanded version to this TRANSACTIONS, which would be specially arranged for publication in a single issue if accepted. This was successfully implemented in this issue. Out of 56 papers presented at the conference, including both podium and poster papers, 12 papers were expanded and submitted. After the regular review process, five papers were finally accepted, a brief introduction of which is provided here. The Editor-in-Chief believes these selected papers will provide a more detailed description of the excellent results that were not available with the limited space allowed for the papers in the conference proceeding. This article focuses on the 2004 IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE MTT-S) International Microwave Symposium (IMS), which was held during 6-11 June 2004, in Fort Worth, Texas. 970 papers were originally submitted to the IEEE MTT-S IMS Technical Program Committee in December 2003 for possible presentation at the symposium in June 2004. Of those papers, 488 were accepted at the IEEE MTT-S IMS. Each of authors was then invited to expand their papers. 126 expanded papers were submitted and of these 65 papers have been accepted for publication. Of these, 22 were published in the November 2004 issue of the journal "IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques."

This article presents information on the 15th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar, and Wireless Communications (MIKON'04) which was held from 17-19 May, 2004, in Warsaw, Poland, where 234 papers from 32 countries were presented. It is worth pointing out that the success of last year's conference should be perceived in the light of MIKON's 35-year-long history. It began in 1969 as a microwave solid-state technology conference and, in 1983, it was transformed into and renamed as a microwave conference. Over the years, MIKON has been continuously modified and expanded.
