The combination of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is an efficient solution to significantly enhance the energy efficiency of the wireless communication system. In this paper, a downlink multi-cluster NOMA network is considered, where each cluster is supported by one IRS. This paper aims to minimize the transmit power by jointly optimizing the beamforming, the power allocation and the phase shift of each IRS. The formulated problem is non-convex and challenging to be solved due to the coupled variables, i.e., the beamforming vector, the power allocation coefficient and the phase shift matrix. To address this non-convex problem, an alternating optimization based algorithm is proposed. Specifically, the primal problem is divided into two subproblems for beamforming optimization and phase shifting feasiblity, where the two subproblems are solved iteratively. Moreover, to guarantee the feasibility of the beamforming optimization problem, an iterative algorithm is proposed to search the feasible initial points. To reduce the complexity, a simplified algorithm based on partial exhaustive search for this system model is also proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed alternating algorithm can yield a better performance gain than the partial exhaustive search algorithm, NOMA with random IRS phase shift scheme and OMA-IRS scheme. Most of the existing works in millimeter wave (mmWave) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communications (mmWave NOMA) employs phased array (PA) antennas which yield only angle beamspace without range dependent, range-interference suppression and “dot-shaped” array resolution. In this paper, we propose a collocated transmitter (Tx) - receiver (Rx) mmWave NOMA system where frequency diverse array (FDA) antennas are utilized. FDA employs small frequency increments across the element indices which yields angle-range dependent beamspace. Herein, an equivalent radiate beamspace is designed to serve the users. Further, to ensure user equity, we formulate objective function to max-min achievable sum rate subject to power allocation and BS equivalent FDA transmit beamspace along the users. Since the problem is not convex, a boundary-compressed Bat meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is devised to provide a sub-optimal solution by optimizing the frequency increments to synthesis the BS beamspace along the users. The achievable secrecy rate, cost efficiency (CE), economic efficiency (ECE), and secrecy energy efficiency (SEE) are derived for the users. Adaptive bitrate streaming can confront dynamic environment and satisfy multifarious user requirements by encoding video files into different bitrate versions. It can significantly improve the user quality of experience (QoE). But at the same time, it can also lead to a further increase in video data volume. The interaction of massive video data tends to aggravate network congestion and increase transmission energy, which triggers new challenges for wireless networks in terms of delivery delay and energy consumption. In this paper, taking different video sizes and playback rate requirements into account, we aim to minimize the weighted sum of delivery delay and energy consumption for adaptive video streaming. The problem is formulated by jointly optimizing caching, computing and power allocation, which turns out to be a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. To tackle it, a joint caching, computing and power allocation (JCCPA) algorithm is proposed. More specifically, the original problem is decomposed into two subproblems: 1) power allocation problem and 2) joint caching placement and computing decision problem. The power allocation problem is proved to be a quasi-convex problem, and the closed-form solution is derived. With the optimal transmit power, the joint caching placement and computing decision problem is further divided into two subproblems, which are solved in an iterative manner. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms can effectively reduce the weighted sum of delivery delay and energy consumption (outperforms the baselines around 5%–12% within a certain range). In the cooperative vehicle infrastructure system, the road side unit (RSU) equipped with a mobile edge computing (MEC) server and sensors could provide vehicle infrastructure cooperation services for vehicles, such as optimization and cooperative driving, enhanced visibility, and so on. In view of this, the MEC server needs to fuse the sensing information from sensors on the vehicles and RSU, respectively. In the case of bad channel conditions, uploading the raw sensing information from the vehicles results in high uplink transmission latency. To deal with it, the vehicles can process the information locally and just deliver the results to the RSU. However, due to the limited computing resources on the vehicles, the processing accuracy of the raw information on the vehicles is lower than that on the MEC server. Besides, processing locally leads to higher vehicle energy consumption. Thus, in this paper, we aim to jointly optimize execution latency, processing accuracy, and energy consumption of the MEC-based cooperative vehicle infrastructure system. Firstly, we design the terminal machine learning task model and the edge machine learning task model on the vehicle side and RSU side, respectively. Then, we formulate a long-term multi-objective optimization problem. Owing to the stochastic traffic and time-varying communication conditions, we reformulate it as a Markov decision process and propose a two-stage deep reinforcement learning-based offloading and resource allocation (TDORA) strategy to determine the task offloading and the transmit power of each vehicle. In this paper, we investigate non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) assisted secure computation offloading under the eavesdropping-attack, in which a malicious node overhears the edge-computing user's (EU’s) offloading transmission to the edge-computing server (ES), and NOMA is used for the EU's offloading and meanwhile for providing artificial jamming to the eavesdropper. Since multi-user simultaneous transmission over a same frequency channel can be enabled by NOMA, a wireless user (WU) can form a NOMA pair with the EU to provide cooperative jamming to the eavesdropper while also gaining an opportunity of sending its data. Focusing on the EU-WU pair with the fixed WU's energy-provisioning, we exploit the physical layer security to quantify the EU's offloading throughput with the help of WU's jamming. We then study the joint optimization of the EU's computation offloading and the EU-WU's NOMA transmission for minimizing the EU's total energy consumption subject to its latency-requirement in completing the computation-task. By utilizing the feature of analytical solution of the WU's transmission, we then investigate the WU's optimal energy-provisioning for the EU-WU pair, such that both the EU and WU can benefit from the cooperative jamming in a fairness manner. Specifically, we formulate the EU-WU's cooperation as a Nash bargaining game. By identifying the monotonic feature of Nash bargaining problem, we propose a polyblock approximation based algorithm for determining the WU's optimal energy-provisioning to achieve the win-win solution for the paired EU and WU. Finally, we investigate the scenario of multiple EUs and WUs, and aim at finding the stable pairing between the EUs and WUs, such that no individual EU (or WU) would like to change its partner. An efficient algorithm, which is based on the Gale-Shapley theory while exploiting the quantitative feature of EUs’ and WUs’ net-rewards, is proposed to achieve the stable EU-WU pairings. Vehicular networks are envisioned to deliver data transmission services ubiquitously, especially in the upcoming autonomous driving era. Accordingly, the high data traffic load poses a heavy burden to the terrestrial network infrastructure. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) show enormous potential to assist vehicular networks in providing services. In a dense UAV-assisted vehicular network with a large number of users, spectrum sharing is leveraged for alleviating the spectrum scarcity. However, the increasing data traffic still leads to the UAV energy consumption problem. This paper considers a specific network scenario where a UAV transmits its cached content files to vehicular users over UAV-to-vehicle (U2V) links while vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) links reuse the U2V spectrum for safety-critical message exchanges. To improve the UAV's energy efficiency while guaranteeing users’ quality of service (QoS), we jointly optimize content placement, spectrum allocation, co-channel link pairing, and power control, which are the key factors affecting energy efficiency and QoS. In this paper, we investigate the energy-efficient resource allocation problem in device-to-device (D2D) communications underlaying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled networks. The UAV is deployed as a flying base station to communicate with wireless users in the presence of an eavesdropper in the cell. We consider two types of users: the ground users (GUs) served by the UAV and the D2D users that communicate directly with one another. Our aim is to maximize the total energy efficiency (TEE) of all D2D pairs while guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) requirements and secrecy rates of all GUs and D2D users via joint power control and channel allocation. The considered TEE maximization problem is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, which is difficult to solve. Therefore, we propose a method that consists of outer and inner loops. In the outer loop, Dinkelbach's algorithm is utilized to transform the original fractional programming problem into a subtractive form. In the inner loop, we employ the alternating optimization method and divide the equivalent optimization problem into two sub-problems: power allocation and channel allocation. Solving the two sub-problems directly using standard convex optimization software may have high complexity. Therefore, we also propose a low-complexity algorithm using the Lagrangian dual and Kuhn—Munkres algorithm to obtain the optimal power allocation in closed-form and the optimal channel allocation, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm converges in a small number of iterations. Furthermore, the proposed approach shows its superior performance compared with other benchmark methods. Different from conventional reflecting-only metasurfaces, intelligent omni-surfaces (IOSs) are capable of reflecting and transmitting the received signals simultaneously. As such, users located at the both sides of IOSs can be served efficiently. In this paper, a novel IOS-enhanced aerial secure offloading system is proposed in the presence of multiple ground eavesdroppers. Specifically, the IOS is adopted to prevent information leakage, improve legitimate reception quality and expand the security deployment range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). To maximize the secrecy energy efficiency (SEE) of the considered system, a non-convex resource allocation problem is formulated by allocating computing frequency, determining offloading strategy, controlling transmit power, designing phase shifts, and deploying UAV locations. The formulated problem is non-trivial and challenging to be solved directly due to the highly coupled variables. To tackle this issue, the alternating optimization technique is invoked to decouple the original one into five subproblems, and then the computing and communication settings are alternatively optimized using a low complexity iterative algorithm. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that: i) In terms of the SEE performance, our IOS-enhanced aerial secure offloading system significantly outperforms the benchmark schemes; ii) Compared with reflecting-only surfaces, IOSs can take full advantage of the flexible deployment ability of UAVs, such that their secure offloading space can be considerably expanded. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and Terahertz (THz) technology are envisioned to play paramount roles in next-generation wireless communications. In this paper, we present a novel secure UAV-assisted mobile relaying system operating at THz bands for data acquisition from multiple ground user equipments (UEs) towards a destination. We assume that the UAV-mounted relay may act, besides providing relaying services, as a potential eavesdropper called the untrusted UAV-relay (UUR). To safeguard end-to-end communications, we present a secure two-phase transmission strategy with cooperative jamming. Then, we devise an optimization framework in terms of a new measure $-$ secrecy energy efficiency (SEE), defined as the ratio of achievable average secrecy rate to average system power consumption, which enables us to obtain the best possible security level while taking UUR’s inherent flight power limitation into account. For the sake of quality of service fairness amongst all the UEs, we aim to maximize the minimum SEE (MSEE) performance via the joint design of key system parameters, including UUR’s trajectory and velocity, communication scheduling, and network power allocation. Since the formulated problem is a mixed-integer nonconvex optimization and computationally intractable, we decouple it into four subproblems and propose alternative algorithms to solve it efficiently via greedy/sequential block successive convex approximation and non-linear fractional programming techniques. In this paper, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabledspace-air-ground integrated relay system, in which UAV is equipped with phased-array antennas to receive satellite’s signal while utilizing non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes to transmit data to land-based users, is proposed. For UAV signal collection, a detection-vector optimization problem can be addressed by introducing a serial of transformations into a second-order cone programming problem. Furthermore, the UAV-ground NOMA communication is summarized into a max-min problem in terms of UAV’s energy efficiency (EE), which is a fractional mixed-integer non-convex problem and has been widely recognized as hard work. Thus, a two-step solution is proposed. Firstly, we transfer the max-min fractional problem into a subtractive one. After that, the transformed problem is further divided into three sub-problems, which are used for jointly performing UAV trajectory optimization, NOMA scheduling optimization, and NOMA power allocation. In addition, the non-convexity of the above-mentioned problem is well solved by using the proposed iterative algorithm, achieving a rapid convergence. Numerical results illustrate the superiority of the proposed EE-NOMA scheme, which achieves three times higher energy-efficient than the conventional spectrum efficiency scheme, and NOMA is shown to globally outperform the orthogonal multiple access in UAV EE circumstance. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and backscatter communication are two emerging technologies for low-power communication. In this paper, we consider a NOMA backscatter system, where signals from two backscatter devices are multiplexed on a frequency resource block using NOMA in each time slot. Our objective is to maximize the average energy efficiency by optimizing backscatter device pairing, reflection coefficients of backscatter devices, and the transmit power of the reader. We formulate the average energy efficiency maximization problem subject to the minimum circuit power and the minimum data rate requirements of the backscatter devices, and the transmit power constraint of the reader. The formulated problem is nonconvex. To obtain a suboptimal solution for this problem, we use alternating optimization technique and decompose the problem into two subproblems. The subproblems are solved by using fractional programming, Dinkelbach’s algorithm, and successive convex approximation method. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm converges quickly to a suboptimal solution. Our proposed algorithm outperforms several baseline algorithms, including the genetic algorithm, fixed device pairing scheme, conventional device pairing scheme, maximum transmit power allocation scheme, and random reflection coefficient selection scheme, in terms of the average energy efficiency. Mobile-edge computing (MEC) has been recognized as a promising solution to provide efficient communication and computation capabilities for mobile users (MUs). However, the problem relating to parallel offloading and load balancing with multiple cooperative MEC servers and massive delay-sensitive execution workloads remains to be investigated. In this paper, we study a joint parallel offloading and load balancing policy for such an MEC system. We formulate a long-term system average-cost (i.e., weighted sum of energy consumption and execution delays) stochastic programming problem under MU battery level stability and delay constraints. Our aims include optimizing the data sizes for uplink offloading transmissions for optimized communication and computation resource allocation among multi-users, and maximizing the computation capability utilization of cooperative MEC servers by load balancing. To solve this problem, we first design a Lyapunov-based centralized cost management algorithm (LYP-CCMA) to obtain the optimal system average-cost under the battery level stability constraints. Further, we propose two algorithms based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to implement distributed resources allocation. This paper investigates the energy-efficient power allocation strategy for multi-user mmWave non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system with different hybrid precoding (HP) structures. Particularly, we consider the fully-access HP structure and the subarray HP structure, respectively. For these two structures, the finite resolution analog precoder is realized through a low-power switches and inverters (SI) network. In the NOMA system, multiple users are first paired according to their channel correlation and gain difference. Following this, we propose hybrid precoding schemes for the low-power SI-based HP structures. Then, a power allocation (PA) problem is formulated to maximize the energy efficiency of the system, subject to per-cluster’ power constraints and per-user’ quality of service constraints. To solve the non-convex PA optimization problem, we devise a suboptimal solution with two-stage PA strategies. Furthermore, the PA problem aiming at conditionally maximizing the spectrum efficiency is also analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed mmWave-NOMA can achieve higher energy efficiency than the existing mmWave-NOMA scheme and the conventional mmWave orthogonal multiple access scheme. To mitigate the impact of the dramatic growth of wireless video traffic and provide users with heterogeneous video services, a collaborative caching-transmission method in cache-enabled terahertz (THz) heterogeneous networks is studied in this paper. We propose a novel scalable video coding (SVC)-based two-tier cooperative caching strategy that can provide video services with different perceptual qualities. In addition, we propose a hierarchical hybrid transmission scheme where users obtain the requested layer files through the cooperative cellular multicast-D2D and THz transmissions. A base layer-based multicast group aggregation process is presented to improve resource utilization, while an efficient multicast transmission resource scheduling scheme can make better use of the spatial reusability. We derive the expressions for the average offloading capacity gain and average energy consumption, and formulate an efficiency function optimization problem. The problem is efficiently solved by the greedy strategy-gradient descent based caching solution and long tail distribution based heuristic caching solution. Simulation results validate the two solutions and demonstrate that the proposed caching-transmission method can achieve quasi-optimal performance compared with other contrasting schemes. In this paper, we consider a computation offloading problem in a three-tier network consisting of multiple mobile users (MUs), multiple edge clouds, and a central cloud. On this basis, we formulate a system Energy Time Cost ($ETC$) minimization problem by jointly optimizing the resource allocation, mobile-edge matching decision, and offloading decision. Due to the difficulty of directly solving the formulated problem, we decompose it and propose two offloading algorithms, namely Gale-Shapley based Minimum/Sequential Offloading Algorithm (GS-MOA/GS-SOA), to optimize offloading decisions by minimizing the system $ETC$ , in which the mobile-edge matching strategies based on the proposed Gale-Shapley based Mobile-Edge mAtching aLgorithm (GS-MEAL) and resource allocations are optimized iteratively. Explorations on the Lunar Far-side Surface (LFS) have recently developed rapidly with various landers, cruisers, and orbital space vehicles. Research on relay satellites with Earth-Moon Libration Point (EMLP) orbits has aroused widespread interest in supporting these probe missions, i.e., “Queqiao” spacecraft, due to their particular relative positions in the Earth-Lunar system. For example, a Halo orbital relay satellite at the Earth-Moon L2 point can provide more transmission opportunities for communication nodes on LFS to the destination nodes on the Earth. However, a single Halo orbital spacecraft could not provide all-time connections for the cislunar communication with its limited coverage on the LFS. In this paper, we proposed a dual-relay Halo orbit constellation for the cislunar communication network, providing high-proportion coverage on the LFS at any time using an analytical method of the grid point. Based on the proposed constellation, we designed an energy efficiency-optimal relay selection algorithm for the nodes on the LFS to return data back to the Earth by solving a MIP (Mixed-Integer-Programming) problem with collaborative considerations of source and relay node’s power allocation. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has the maximum energy efficiency (EE) while ensuring the user’s quality of service, compared with the algorithm of Spectrum Efficiency Maximization (SEM). Sixth generation mobile networks (6G) may experience a huge evolution on vertical industry scenarios, where deep edge networks ($\mathbf{D}\mathrm{E}\mathrm{N}\mathrm{s}$) become an important network structure for the intelligent resource management of computing, caching and communications (3 C). In this paper, we propose two pervasive scenarios including single edge scene and multiple edge scenes for deep integration of wireless communications and computation depending on real-time adaptive collaboration. Specifically, in the single edge scenario, a novel deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based framework is invoked for collaboratively optimizing the task scheduling, transmission power and CPU cycle frequency under metabolic channel conditions. Meanwhile, in order to alleviate interference in multiple edge scenarios, we propose a multi-agent aided deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) algorithm to minimize total energy consumption and latency. Numerical experiments demonstrate these methods have substantial performance improvement in terms of saving system’s total overhead (i.e., energy consumption and delay) upon considering the task scheduling, transmission power, channel mutual interference and CPU cycle frequency against other conventional benchmarks. In this paper, an aerial heterogeneous wireless network consists of a high altitude platform (HAP) and low altitude platforms (LAPs) as aerial base stations (ABSs) in a downlink orthogonal division multiple access (OFDMA) transmission is investigated. Two types of spectrum sharing, including spectrum underlay access (SUA) and spectrum overlay access (SOA) are employed to evaluate the inter-tier interference. Distributed problem formulation and solving method are used to reduce the computational complexity, communication overhead and system latency. Subcarrier assignment and power allocation in spectral efficiency (SE), energy efficiency (EE) and transmission power optimization problems are accomplished by the proposed two-layer algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, first, subcarrier assignment based on constraints of the optimization problems is carried out to cover both SUA and SOA with low computational complexity. Second, the proposed algorithm performs power allocation. The simulation results show the relation between spectrum reuse and inter-tier interference, such that system SE, EE and the number of served users are maximized when both spectrum reuse and inter-tier interference management are performed together. The heterogeneous fog radio access networks (Fog-RAN), the integration of fog computing, and traditional heterogeneous radio access networks can be implemented through the next-generation wireless communication networks. However, most of the solutions are limited to the spectrum efficiency optimization, and cross-tier interference existing in the fog access points (F-APs) could affect the network performance seriously. In this paper, the user association, resource allocation (including bandwidth and power), and caching deployment are investigated in the heterogeneous Fog-RAN to consider energy efficiency and cross-tier interference mitigation. Specifically, the user association, resource allocation, and caching strategy are formulated as a non-convex optimization problem and then transformed into a convex problem, which can be solved by a proposed algorithm based on the concept of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Then an ADMM-based algorithm is proposed to enhance the energy efficiency of the Fog-RAN. Device-to-device (D2D) communication is an emerging paradigm that can improve system capacity and spectral efficiency by using cooperative communication coexisting with cellular networks. In spite of these advantages, D2D communication suffers from unfair resource usage, security risks posed by eavesdroppers, and limited energy storage. To deal with these issues, in this paper, we propose a resource allocation algorithm to maximize the security-aware energy efficiency (EE) for D2D users (DUs) in a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled D2D communication system with $\alpha$ fairness, where multiple random eavesdroppers are present. In particular, we formulate a multi-objective resource allocation problem by jointly optimizing the transmit power, power-splitting (PS) factors of DUs, and the sub-channel allocation factor under multiple constraints, including the maximum interference power for each cellular user, the maximum transmit power of each DU, the PS factor, and the integer sub-channel assignment. To solve the non-convex problem, an iterative algorithm is developed to obtain the sub-optimal solution. Mobile edge computing (MEC) has been considered as a promising paradigm to support the growing popularity of mobile devices (MDs) with similar capabilities as cloud computing. Most existing research focuses on MEC enabled by terrestrial base stations (BSs), which is unable to work in certain scenarios, e.g., disaster rescue and field operation. Some researchers have been making efforts on studying MEC assisted by unmanned-aerial-vehicles (UAVs) and developed lots of efficient scheduling algorithms. However, MEC assisted only by UAVs has limited capability and is unsuitable for heavy-computation applications. To address the issue, this paper proposes a novel UAV-and-BS hybrid enabled MEC system, where multiple UAVs and one BS are deployed to facilitate the provisioning of MEC services either directly from UAVs or indirectly from the BS. Considering maximizing the lifetime of all MDs, the energy-efficient scheduling problem is formulated as minimizing the energy consumption of all MDs by jointly optimizing UAV trajectories, task associations, computing-and-transmitting resource allocations. The optimization problem is further decomposed into three sub-problems and solved by the proposed hybrid heuristic and learning based scheduling algorithms to reduce the complexity. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve promising performance improvements over baseline algorithms, including local-computing, random-offloading and greedy-offloading. In this paper, collaborative task offloading in edge computing is studied, where computation requesters can offload tasks to not only the edge server, but also nearby smartphone users. By considering the fact that smartphone users may not always be willing to provide such computation service because of the consumption of their own energy and resources, a truthful mechanism is designed to provide incentive to smartphone users. The design aims to maximize the net revenue of the service provider and addresses more practical, but more complicated, scenarios of unknown a prior distribution information on smartphone users’ private information. To tackle this high computational complexity, which makes the traditional mechanism design methods infeasible, a new approach, called truthful deep mechanism, is proposed by leveraging a multi-task machine learning model, where inherently inter-connected collaborator selection and pricing policy determination are decided by designing two deep neural networks. As an attractive alternative to traditional and large satellite, small satellite cluster (SSC) with low cost and short development time will play an important role in Earth observation. Generally, SSC networks for Earth observation are energy-limited, the design of the joint data downloading and resource management scheme remains challenging. On the one hand, with the ever-increasing amount of sensing data, multiple gateway stations and relay satellites have been deployed to receive the sensing data from SSC. The problem that where to download the sensing data should be addressed. On the other hand, due to the limited communication, storage, computing and power supply capacities of small satellite, an efficient multi-dimensional resource management scheme should be adopted. In this paper, the joint data downloading scheduling and multi-dimensional resource management problem for satellite cluster networks with relay satellites is investigated, which is formulated as a long-term optimization problem to minimize the energy consumption and guarantee the data drop rate performance. Then, this problem is decomposed into a series of mixed-integer programming problems by Lyapunov optimization theory. Leveraging many-to-many matching theory with empty node and the simplex method, an online joint data downloading and resource management (OJDDRM) scheme is proposed. Simulation results validate the proposed OJDDRM scheme's performance and demonstrate that there exists a balance point for the proposed OJDDRM scheme. In 5G wireless networks, cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and wireless power transfer (WPT) are efficient ways to improve the spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE). In this paper, a new cooperative NOMA scheme with WPT is proposed, where EE optimization with a constrained maximum transmit power and minimum required SE is considered for the user grouping and transmit power allocation of users. We obtain a sub-optimal solution by decoupling the original problem in two sub-problems: an iterative algorithm is considered for the user grouping, while, in addition, we utilize the Bat Algorithm (BA) for solving the power allocation problem, where BA was proved to be able to achieve a higher accuracy and efficiency with respect to other meta-heuristic algorithms. Furthermore, to validate the performance of the proposed system, analytical expressions for the energy outage probability and outage probability of users are derived, confirming the effectiveness of the simulation results. It is demonstrated that the proposed cooperative NOMA with WPT offers a considerable improvement in terms of SE and EE of the network compared to other methods. Driven by the massively growing applications in Internet of Things (IoT) and the new requirements of the six generation (6G) wireless network, the amount of terrestrial mobile devices (TMDs) and data traffic in wireless communications have increased explosively. Consequently, the integrated terrestrial-satellite relay networks (ITSRNs) have emerged to address the issue of the huge wireless traffic with limited allocated resources, which attracts extensive research attention to the field of IoT. Limited improvement of system throughput is realized by configuring terrestrial relays (TR) in the previous works. In this paper, by introducing an aerial relay (AR), we propose a novel structure of ITSRN and investigate the system throughput maximization and energy consumption minimization problems by jointly optimizing power allocation and AR altitude. Specifically, the system implementation includes two periods: satellite to relay (S-R) period and satellite to devices (S-D) period. To maximize the overall system throughput, we propose a joint optimization scheme of the power allocation and altitude of AR. Due to its non-convexity, a bilevel programming method is proposed to obtain the global optimal solution, where the closed-form expressions of power allocation and the optimal altitude of AR are derived. Subsequently, we investigate the energy consumption minimization problem during S-R period, which is formulated as a convex problem. We propose a low complexity algorithm and derive the optimal closed-form solution based on the rigorous mathematical analysis. Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication systems using adaptive-resolution analog-to-digital converters (RADCs) have recently drawn considerable interests from the research community as benefit of their high energy efficiency and low implementation cost. In this paper, we focus on the mmWave uplink using RADCs and investigate the joint user scheduling and resource allocation problem. Specifically, we seek to maximize the system throughput of the scheduled users by jointly optimizing their transmit power level and hybrid combiners as well as the number of quantization bits, subject to practical constraints. By relying on fractional programming (FP) techniques, we first covert this problem into a form amenable to optimization and exploit the specific structures in its solutions with the aid of the so-called Ky Fan $n$ -norm.Then, the resultant optimization problem is solved using a penalty block successive concave approximation (P-BSCA) algorithm. The capability of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) for minimizing interference at the receiver using successive interference cancellation (SIC) makes it as a promising solution for 5G mobile communication. Device-to-device (D2D) communication is a part of the 5G network which provides frequency reuse in cellular networks and provides a better quality of service (QoS) to co-channel users. In this paper, we investigate the resource allocation and time scheduling algorithms for a NOMA based D2D communication system. In addition, to overcome the problem of energy at D2D transmitter and receivers, wireless powered communication network (WPCN) is used. Considering these issues, the objective of the proposed scheme is to maintain energy efficient communication among D2D transmitters and receivers without compromising energy efficiency (EE) of cellular users. To solve the fractional form of an optimization problem, we employ the Dinkelbach method. A many-to-many matching game approach is used for channel allocation and successive convex approximation for low complexity (SCALE) is used to control the power of the D2D transmitter. New radio in unlicensed spectrum (NR-U) and network slicing have been emerged as two promising technologies to meet with the demand of enormous traffic volume, extreme transmission speed, and highly heterogeneous service requirements in future 5 G networks. Additionally, spurred by both economic considerations and environmental concerns, green communication becomes a new prominent figure of merit in the design of future 5 G networks. In this paper, we investigate an energy consumption scheduling for unlicensed heterogeneous networks, namely NR-U and WiFi, by leveraging the network slicing technology. First, we introduce a network slice broker, which enables virtual heterogeneous network operators to request and lease resources cooperatively via signaling means. Then, we investigate a joint network selection and resource allocation scheduling to minimize the network energy consumption in real time environment, taking into account various user data rate and delay requirements. An online Lyapunov optimization algorithm has been introduced to solve the proposed problem with low computational complexity and rapid convergence. We show that there exists a tradeoff between energy consumption and traffic delay, which can be adjusted through control parameters. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a promising architecture to reduce the energy consumption of mobile devices and provide satisfactory quality-of-service to time-sensitive services. How to jointly optimize task offloading and resource allocation to minimize the energy consumption subject to the latency requirement remains an open problem, which motivates this paper. When the latency constraint is taken into account, the optimization variables, including offloading ratio, transmission power, and subcarrier and computing resource allocation, are strongly coupled. To address this issue, we first decompose the original problem into three subproblems named as offloading ratio selection, transmission power optimization, and subcarrier and computing resource allocation. Then, we propose an iterative algorithm to deal with them in a sequence. To be specific, we derive the closed-form solution of offloading ratios, employ the equivalent parametric convex programming to obtain the optimal power allocation policy, and deal with subcarrier and computing resource allocation by the primal-dual method. In this paper, we consider a coexisting network of cellular transmission and device-to-device (D2D) communication, in which two users need to receive downlink signals from base station (BS), meanwhile, they want to exchange information with each other. For such a network, a hybrid cellular and bidirectional D2D cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (HCBD-CNOMA) scheme is proposed. To characterize the performance of our proposed scheme, we derive the closed-form ergodic rate and outage probability by considering both perfect and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC). To acquire more insights, their corresponding asymptotic expressions are obtained as well. Moreover, considering the fact that the nodes in Internet of Things (IoT) network are usually powered by battery and thus their power is limited, we further consider the scenario that two users are energy-constraint. In this scenario, users first need to harvest energy from the transmission of BS based on time splitting (TS) or power splitting (PS) energy harvesting (EH) protocol and then use these energy to accomplish subsequent communications. Similarly, the exact ergodic rate and outage probability as well as their asymptotic expressions for this scenario are analyzed. Delta-orthogonal multiple access (D-OMA) has been recently investigated as a potential technique to enhance the spectral efficiency in the sixth-generation (6G) networks. D-OMA enables partial overlapping of the adjacent sub-channels that are assigned to different clusters of users served by non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), at the expense of additional interference. In this paper, we analyze the performance of D-OMA in the uplink and develop a multi-objective optimization framework to maximize the uplink energy efficiency (EE) in a multi-access point (AP) network enabled by D-OMA. Specifically, we optimize the sub-channel and transmit power allocations of the users as well as the overlapping percentage of the spectrum between the adjacent sub-channels. The formulated problem is a mixed binary non-linear programming problem. Therefore, to address the challenge we first transform the problem into a single-objective problem using Tchebycheff method. Then, we apply the monotonic optimization (MO) to explore the hidden monotonicity of the objective function and constraints, and reformulate the problem into a standard MO in canonical form. The reformulated problem can be solved by applying the outer polyblock approximation method. Our numerical results show that D-OMA outperforms the conventional non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) when the adjacent sub-channel overlap and scheduling are optimized jointly. Integrating mobile edge computing (MEC) with small cell networks has been conceived as a promising solution to provide pervasive computing services. However, the interactions among small cells due to inter-cell interference, the diverse application-specific requirements, as well as the highly dynamic wireless environment make it challenging to design an optimal computation offloading scheme. In this paper, we focus on the joint design of computation offloading and interference coordination for edge intelligence empowered small cell networks. To this end, we propose a distributed multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (DRL) scheme with the objective of minimizing the overall energy consumption while ensuring the latency requirements. Specifically, we exploit the collaboration among small cell base station (SBS) agents to adaptively adjust their strategies, considering computation offloading, channel allocation, power control, and computation resource allocation. Further, to decrease the computation complexity and signaling overhead of the training process, we design a federated DRL scheme which only requires SBS agents to share their model parameters instead of local training data. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed schemes can significantly reduce the energy consumption and effectively guarantee the latency requirements compared with the benchmark schemes. In this paper, we study an energy-efficient computation offloading for vehicular edge computing systems, where multiple roadside units assist vehicular users to offload computation tasks to edge servers. Our goal is to minimize the users’ energy consumption by optimizing user association, data partition, transmit power, and computation resources, subject to the constraints of partial tasks offloading, user latency, maximum transmit power, outage performance, and computation capacity of edge servers. We utilize deep learning for user association to avoid combinatorial complexity, and develop an efficient optimization algorithm to optimize other variables. The resulting algorithm has scalable complexity with convergence guarantee, as confirmed by our theoretical analysis. Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a promising solution to support emerging delay-sensitive mobile applications, such as self-driving, augment/virtual reality, and various Internet of Things (IoT) applications. By deploying MEC servers at network edge, e.g., close to cellular base stations (BSs), the computational tasks generated by these applications can be offloaded to edge nodes (ENs) and be quickly executed there. At the same time, with the projected large number of IoT devices, the communication and computational resources allocated to each user can be quite limited, making it challenging to provide low-latency MEC services. In this paper, we investigate the problem of task partitioning and user association in an MEC system, aiming to minimize the average latency of all users. We assume that each task can be partitioned into multiple subtasks that can be executed on local devices (e.g., vehicles), MEC servers, and/or cloud servers; each user can be associated with one of the nearby ENs. The subtasks can be independent of or dependent on each other. For each case, we formulate the joint optimization of task partitioning ratios and user association as a mixed integer programming problem. Each problem is solved by decomposing it into two subproblems. The lower-level subproblem is task partitioning under a given user association, which can be solved optimally. The higher-level subproblem is user association, we propose a dual decomposition-based approach and a matching-based approach to derive near-optimal solutions. Simulation results show that compared to benchmark schemes, the proposed schemes reduce the average latency by about 50% and 40% for the cases of independent and dependent subtasks, respectively. In this paper, we investigate power allocation algorithms in a downlink millimeter wave non-orthogonal multiple access (mmWave-NOMA) system, which consists of one base station (BS) and a group of two-user clusters. Specifically, two optimization problems are formulated to maximize the achievable sum rate (ASR) and energy efficiency (EE), respectively, while satisfying the individual quality of service (QoS) constraints. To ensure the stability of successive interference cancellation (SIC-stability), we specially add the power order constraints, which are often neglected in existing works. By dividing each formulated problem into more tractable inter-cluster and intra-cluster sub-problems, and deriving the corresponding solutions, we propose the ASR maximization based power allocation (ASRMax-PA) and EE maximization based power allocation (EEMax-PA) algorithms. Numerical results show that the proposed ASRMax-PA (EEMax-PA) algorithm is much better than the state-of-the-art schemes in term of ASR (EE), while yields quite good EE (ASR) performance simultaneously. Terahertz (THz) frequency band has become one of the popular researches for the short-range broadband, high-rate data communication, reliability, and strong anti-interference ability, which can realize better performance for dense vehicular network scenario. In this paper, we introduce a cache based dense vehicular networks with THz frequency link and focus on the resource allocation optimization problem of subband and power allocation by maximizing energy efficiency (EE). In order to reduce the computational complexity, the original optimization problem is formulated as a mean-field game (MFG) problem, where each cache access point (cAP) can solve its local EE optimization problem by Dinkelbach-style method and Lagrangian dual method. Different access cells interact with MFG through mean subband power. State-of-the-art drone technologies have severe flight time limitations due to weight constraints, which inevitably lead to a relatively small amount of available energy. Therefore, frequent battery replacement or recharging is necessary in applications such as delivery, exploration, or support to the wireless infrastructure. Mobile charging stations (i.e., mobile stations with charging equipment) for outdoor ad-hoc battery charging is one of the feasible solutions to address this issue. However, the ability of these platforms to charge the drones is limited in terms of the number and charging time. This paper designs an auction-based mechanism to control the charging schedule in multi-drone setting. In this paper, charging time slots are auctioned, and their assignment is determined by a bidding process. The main challenge in developing this framework is the lack of prior knowledge on the distribution of the number of drones participating in the auction. Based on optimal second-price-auction, the proposed formulation, then, relies on deep learning algorithms to learn such distribution online. In this paper, we investigate a joint resource allocation problem based on cognitive radio (CR) techniques for user equipment with multi-homing capabilities. We consider a heterogeneous wireless medium where users in overlapping coverage areas simultaneously communicate with different base stations and access points. Currently, existing works assume that the working frequency bands of different networks are separated. Unlike these works, this paper focuses on the multi-homing networks, which can share spectrum resources of each other to enhance the resource utilization efficiency. Based on spectrum sensing and spectrum sharing techniques in CR, we propose and then formulate an uplink joint original bandwidth, detected hole bandwidth and power allocation method. Specifically, the formulated optimization problem is a mixed integer nonlinear optimization problem. We adopt the continuity relaxation method to further transform it into a convex optimization problem and then solve it by Lagrange dual solution. A suboptimal method is further proposed with a reduced system overhead. Simulation results demonstrate the significantly improved performance of our proposed methods (both optimal and suboptimal) in terms of system throughput and energy efficiency over a joint resource allocation benchmark. Caching popular contents at the base stations (BSs) is a promising way to reduce the backhaul congestion. In this paper, we consider the scenario of BS cooperation for a cache-enabled HetNets where the helpers with cache are distributed around the macro BSs (MBSs). In this paper, we model the locations of the MBSs and the helpers as a Poisson point process and a Poisson hole process (PHP), respectively. Based on the proposed model, we adopt different caching and BS cooperation strategies depending on the requested file. Due to the intractability of the PHP, we adopt a fitted Poisson cluster process (PCP) to approximate the PHP, which is shown to obtain tight approximation. Based on the approximated PCP, we derive explicit expressions of the average spectrum efficiency and the area power consumption using tools from stochastic geometry. Building upon the analytical results, we then solve the problems of the area power consumption minimization and the average spectrum efficiency maximization, in which a closed-form expression for the optimal segment allocation that maximizes the average spectrum efficiency is obtained. Vehicular Fog Computing (VFC) provides solutions to relieves overload cloudlet nodes, reduces service latency during peak times, and saves energy for battery-powered cloudlet nodes by offloading user tasks to a vehicle (vehicular node) by exploiting the under-utilized computation resources of nearby vehicular node. However, the wide deployment of VFC still confronts several critical challenges: lack of energy-latency tradeoff and efficient resource allocation mechanisms. In this paper, we address the challenges and provide an Energy-efficient dynamic Computation Offloading and resources allocation Scheme (ECOS) to minimize energy consumption and service latency. We first formulate the ECOS problem as a joint energy and latency cost minimization problem while satisfying vehicular node mobility and end-to-end latency deadline constraints. We then propose an ECOS scheme with three phases. In the first phase, we propose an overload cloudlet node detection policy based on resource utilization. In the second phase, we propose a computational offloading selection policy to select a task from an overloaded cloudlet node for offloading, which minimizes offloading cost and the risk of overload. Next, we propose a heuristic approach to solve the resource allocation problem between the vehicular node and selected user tasks for energy-latency tradeoff. Extensive simulations have been conducted under realistic highway and synthetic scenarios to examine the ECOS scheme's performance. Vehicular edge computing is viewed as a promising technique for relieving the overload of base station (BS) on roadside, via leveraging the computation resources of vehicles on road. However, the computing capacity of a single vehicle is limited. For the fast velocity and distribution characteristics of vehicles, when a vehicle performs task offloading to a set of neighbor vehicles, longer sensing/accessing time durations are needed. Vehicle platoon driving as an emerging technique is proposed to strengthen vehicle fuel efficiency and the freeway safety and capacity. The distributed computation resources can be centrally controlled in the vehicle platoon. In this paper, we investigate the resource allocation scheme for edge computing-based vehicle platoon on freeway to maximize the utilities of vehicles surrounding the platoon via a contract-optimization approach. Combining with BS, the vehicle platoon performs as an edge node to provide the delay-sensitive computation service for the vehicles on road. First, we design a contract-based incentive mechanism to motivate vehicles to form a vehicle platoon and share their computation resources. Then, based on the proposed vehicle platoon, a joint optimization problem is formulated to maximize the utilities of vehicles, the task offloading decision, communication and computation resource allocation schemes in both the platoon and BS are jointly optimized. As an emerging technology in 5G, ultra-dense unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) network can significantly improve the system capacity and networks coverage. However, it is still a challenge to reduce interference and improve energy efficiency (EE) of UAVs. In this paper, we investigate a downlink power control problem to maximize the EE in an ultra-dense UAV network. Firstly, the power control problem is formulated as a discrete mean field game (MFG) to imitate the interactions among a large number of UAVs, and then the MFG framework is transformed into a Markov decision process (MDP) to obtain the equilibrium solution of the MFG due to the dense deployment of UAVs. Specifically, a deep reinforcement learning-based MFG (DRL-MFG) algorithm is proposed to suppress the interference and maximize the EE by using deep neural networks (DNN) to explore the optimal power strategy for UAVs. The numerical results show that the UAVs can effectively interact with the environment to obtain the optimal power control strategy. Compared with the benchmarks algorithms, the DRL-MFG algorithm converges faster to the solution of MFG and improves the EE of UAVs. In this paper, we study radio frequency (RF)-powered underlay cognitive radio networks (CRNs) with power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In these networks, by using the harvest-then-transmit (HTT) mode, secondary transmitters (STs) can use the harvested energy to simultaneously transmit data based on power-domain NOMA. However, in this mode, the throughput of the secondary system heavily depends not only on the harvested energy, but also on the stringent interference threshold imposed by the primary users. Furthermore, ambient backscatter communication (ABC) has been introduced as a promising technique which enables STs to transmit information by modulating and reflecting ambient RF signals. Therefore, it has the potentiality to be integrated into the RF-powered underlay CR-NOMA networks to improve the throughput of the secondary system. In these networks, each ST works on either the HTT mode or the ABC mode, but not simultaneously. In order to meet the interference constraint of the primary users, STs control their transmit power by finding the appropriate tradeoff between the HTT mode and the ABC mode. We formulate an optimization problem with the goal of achieving the maximum throughput by finding the optimal time resource allocation between the HTT mode and the ABC mode under the strict transmit power constraint at STs. Then the Lagrangian multiplier iterative algorithm is adopted to solve this optimization problem. Both Device-to-device (D2D) and full-duplex (FD) have been widely recognized as spectrum efficient techniques in the fifth-generation (5G) networks. By combining them, the FD-D2D aided underlaying networks (FN) has exhibited considerable technical advantages in terms of both spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE). Considering the fact that the performance of FN may be severely affected by users’ workload, the workload-driven FN (WFN) must be investigated. In this paper, a deep learning based transmit power allocation (TPA) method is proposed for automatically determining the optimal transmit powers of co-spectrum cellular users (CUs) and D2D users (DUs) relying on a deep neural network. Unlike the conventional transmit-power-control schemes, in which complex optimization problems must be addressed in an iterative manner (it usually requires a relative longer computational time), the proposed scheme enables each DU to determine its transmit power with a relatively shorter time. Furthermore, an improved iterative subspace-pursuit algorithm, as the performance benchmark, is formulated for WFN. In addition, to reflect the influence imposed by the workload, the penalty-based statistical sum-date-rate (PSS) can be employed as the performance metric of WFN. In this paper, we design a computing, communication and caching scheme for edge caching-based video streaming in order to improve the network performance. Firstly, we optimize the system's energy efficiency and delay with the aid of network function virtualization. Then, a dynamic edge caching decision is developed, and based on Lyapunov optimization, an alternating resource optimization algorithm is proposed for allocating the optimal subcarrier and power resources, video caching and computing resources. Our numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms both the traditional caching scheme as well as the least frequently used (LFU)-40% regime, and strikes a compelling tradeoff between the energy efficiency and delay. In this paper, we focus on a wireless powered communication network where a hybrid access point can wirelessly activate the power of source nodes, and receive their information. Considering the time-switching protocol that implies energy harvesting, and energy usage are separated by time, a novel graphics-based multi-epoch power adjustment (GB-MPA) strategy is proposed to maximize the sum-throughput over a finite time horizon consisting of multiple transmission epochs. The proposed strategy relies on graphical constraint conditions, and allows the elimination of restrictions corresponding to the objective of throughput maximization. Moreover, the proposed GB-MPA strategy can be combined with the time-switching factor optimization by employing an alternating optimization procedure for performance enhancement. Simulation results show the accuracy of the proposed strategy, reduced complexity compared with the conventional convex optimization method, and the existing multi-epoch power adjustment strategy, and the compatibility with the alternating optimization procedure for developing the joint power, and time allocation scheme. The implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in wireless networks is becoming more and more popular because of the growing number of mobile devices and the availability of huge amount of data. However, directly transmitting data for centralized learning will cause long communication latency owing to the limited communication resource and may incur severe privacy issue as well. To address these issues, we consider the federated edge learning (FEEL) system in this paper and develop an importance-aware joint data selection and resource allocation algorithm to maximize the learning efficiency. Aiming at selecting important data for local training, we first analyze the relation between loss decay and gradient norm, which indicates that larger gradient norm generally leads to faster learning speed. Based on this, a learning efficiency maximization problem is formulated by jointly considering the communication resource allocation and data selection. The closed-form results for optimal communication resource allocation and data selection are both developed, where some insights are also highlighted. Furthermore, an optimal algorithm with low computational complexity is developed to obtain the optimal end-to-end latency in one training period. We show that the sample size should be set to its upper limit in order to maximize the learning performance. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments on three popular convolutional neural network (CNN) models. Backscatter radio is an intriguing technology for Internet of Things applications, which enables ultra-low-power devices to communicate with each other. Most of the existing works on the combination of the backscatter communications and the “harvest-then-transfer” (HTT) protocol focus on the throughput maximization, yet the study on the energy efficiency (EE) maximization is still lacking. Driven by this observation, this paper studies the EE maximization for an RF-powered backscatter network with the HTT protocol. Multiple hybrid devices (HDs) can either use the backscatter mode by backscattering energy signals from the power beacon (PB) to the reader or use the HTT protocol to first harvest energy from the PB, and then to transmit data to the reader. The proposed scheme aims to optimize multiple parameters including PB's transmit power and time, HDs’ transmit power and time allocation between the backscatter mode and the HTT mode for maximizing the EE of all the HDs. An iterative algorithm is developed to find the optimal solution for the proposed resource allocation scheme. This paper investigates a practical energy minimization problem for multiuser relay-assisted downlink cellular networks. The system adopts a hybrid-automatic-repeat-request of type I (HARQ-I) protocol, and each user has an average delay constraint to be satisfied under a total power constraint for the system. The contribution of this paper lies in several folds. 1) By introducing new constraints and new variables in the original problem, the solution is analytically obtained by the dual method. 2) An algorithm that jointly allocates for every user the optimal downlink power at base station and relay station (RS) and selects the RS (if cooperation is decided) is proposed. 3) Another binary integer programming algorithm that selects the optimal modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and optimizes the number of time-frequency resource blocks (RBs) between users is proposed. In order to corroborate our findings, simulation results in terms of energy-delay tradeoff, average starvation user rates, and selected MCS statistics are presented. In this paper, weighted sum energy efficiency (WSEE) in uplink and downlink of a multi-user non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is considered. we adopt a more realistic power consumption model where signal processing power is modeled as a linear function of transmit power. Rather than the well-known network-centric global energy efficiency (GEE) metric, which is a pseudo-concave (PC) function, the weighted sum energy efficiency metric is considered, which is not PC in general. To find the optimum user power allocation Dinkelbach-like algorithm is adopted, by which each individual fractional EE function is converted to a parametric function where under some conditions on the weights falls into a class of convex optimization problems and it is solved in the dual domain. The dual variables are updated using a sub-gradient and cutting plane-based algorithm, which here ellipsoid method is used. Since the optimum solution restricts user weights, a low complexity suboptimum algorithm that does not consider any condition on user's weights is proposed. The problem is non-convex in general; hence, epigraph form followed by successive convex approximation (SCA) is used to deal with that problem.
