The article presents a comparative analysis of the main projects to identify research priorities in the occupational safety and health field. It has been showed how important it is to reach consensus among all those operating in the occupational safety and health sector in order to establish standard methods that can be applied in different contexts.

The article focuses on the application of the Work Improvement in Small Enterprises (WISE) methodology in Thailand. The participatory methods building on local good practices and focusing on practicable improvements have proven effective in controlling the occupational hazards in small enterprises. The WISE methodology represents the participatory methods that are very effective in promoting a healthy work life.
