Abstract

The article describes the case of an adult male presenting with an atypical cause of osteo-articular infection. The patient was admitted due to severe bilateral wrist infection with superficial wound culture growing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas putida. Radial bone histopathology analysis showed acute osteomyelitis with surrounding suppurative soft-tissue inflammation.

Abstract

The article describes the case of a 46 year old man presented due to progressive dyspnea, non-productive cough and fever who developed sustained weight loss 2 months before admission. He was diagnosed with HIV infection in 1986 and was found to have pulmonary Mycobacterium Avium when he developed AIDS in 1994. The Direct Fluorescent Antibody (DFA) for pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) conducted on a broncoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimen was positive and treatment with atovaquone 750 mg was started.
