In South Korea, the rapid proliferation of smartphones has led to an uptick in messenger phishing attacks associated with electronic communication financial scams. In response to this, various phishing detection algorithms have been proposed. However, collecting messenger phishing data poses challenges due to concerns about its potential use in criminal activities. Consequently, a Korean phishing dataset can be composed of imbalanced data, where the number of general messages might outnumber the phishing ones. This class imbalance problem and data scarcity can lead to overfitting issues, making it difficult to achieve high performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a phishing messages classification method using Biased Discriminant Analysis without resorting to data augmentation techniques. In this paper, by optimizing the parameters for BDA, we achieved exceptionally high performances in the phishing messages classification experiment, with 95.45% for Recall and 96.85% for the BA metric. Moreover, when compared with other algorithms, the proposed method demonstrated robustness against overfitting due to the class imbalance problem and exhibited minimal performance disparity between training and testing datasets. Strategic information system planning (SISP) is a central process that enables organizations to identify the strategic alignment of their IT portfolio to achieve their business needs and objectives. The extant SISP literature has focused on theoretical and processual aspects and has left methodological ambiguity about how SISP is practiced. This paper contributes to the current knowledge by providing a mixed-methods SISP framework labeled CSF-MCDM for company-wide strategic alignment. The paper conducts a methodological synthesis, embracing an expert-based qualitative approach based on a PEST-SWOT and causal layered analysis to draw the critical success factors of a next-generation business system for an automotive company in South Korea. The derived CSF dimensions and sub-criteria are evaluated by the multi-criteria decision-making model, engaging a strategy-as-practice lens to SISP to enable an integrative analysis of IS strategy formulation, planning, and implementation. The findings reveal the relative strategic priorities of dimensions, the following core activities, and the global priorities for resource distribution planning for IS strategy of the firm. This paper argues that bringing replicability with SISP and diversifying methodological approaches within the organization is substantial. This paper also suggests that future researchers validate the suggested framework for scientific replicability and expand the SISP research stream within the entire IS/IT ecosystem. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether salience of neighbor comparison information attracts more attention from residents and consequently leads to significant energy conservation. An eye-tracking experiment on 54 residents in a local apartment complex in Korea found that the average time of attention to the neighbor comparison information increased to 277 ms when the size of the information was four times larger and the information was located to the far left. However, the interviews with the subjects suggest that salience of the information is seemingly unrelated to energy conservation, because most of them did not agree with the social consensus that individuals need to refrain from consuming energy when they know that they have consumed more than the neighbor's average. Utility data on 502 households in the apartments revealed that, of the households notified that they consumed more than their neighbors, only less than 50% reduced their energy consumption, which supports the interview results. Therefore, it was concluded that neighbor comparison information did not lead to significant energy conservation effects in the community, although salience of the information contributed to attracting more attention to the information. In nuclear power plants, plant management systems are not only very important for operation and maintenance of the facilities, but also play a very important role in analyzing and reporting the events to the authorities when a failure or accident occurs in the facility. In addition, it is also important to ensure that event records are managed transparently so as not to cause any attempt to cover up events. Therefore, this paper proposes a tamper free plant operation system by applying blockchain technology to the integrated plant management system of Korea hydro and nuclear power (KHNP). As the world undergoes rapid digitalization, individuals and objects are becoming more extensively connected through the advancement of Internet networks. This phenomenon has been observed in governmental and military domains as well, accompanied by a rise in cyber threats consequently. The United States (U.S.), in response to this, has been strongly urging its allies to adhere to the RMF standard to bolster the security of primary defense systems. An agreement has been signed between the Republic of Korea and the U.S. to collaboratively operate major defense systems and cooperate on cyber threats. However, the methodologies and tools required for RMF implementation have not yet been fully provided to several allied countries, including the Republic of Korea, causing difficulties in its implementation. In this study, the U.S. RMF process was applied to a specific system of the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense, and the outcomes were analyzed. Emphasis was placed on the initial two stages of the RMF: 'system categorization' and 'security control selection', presenting actual application cases. Additionally, a detailed description of the methodology used by the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense for RMF implementation in defense systems is provided, introducing a keyword-based overlay application methodology. An introduction to the K-RMF Baseline, Overlay, and Tailoring Tool is also given. The methodologies and tools presented are expected to serve as valuable references for ally countries, including the U.S., in effectively implementing the RMF. The present review seeks to take stock of the South Korean publication activity on the field of chemistry by analyzing systematically all chemistry-related scholarly communications collected in the Web of Science (WOS) database published by at least one Korean author or Korean institute- or university-affiliated author from 1993 to 2012. The studied parameters included the growth in number of the communications, as well as the language-, document-, category-, source-, organization-, and collaboration-wise distribution of the South Korean communications. A total of 5660 communications on chemistry were found to be published by South Korean researchers during the aforementioned period of time, and South Korea was the 15th country (1.77%) in the world in terms of informational communication activity in chemistry. The COVID-19 pandemic led to changes in business communication. As face-to-face communication was no longer possible, many businesses shifted to Zoom because of its ease of use and user-friendly functionality. One unique context in which users were forced to transition to fully online communication was entrepreneurs' pitch presentations. This study aims to explore whether users intend to continue to use Zoom for these important investment meetings after the pandemic. The study was guided by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Usage of Technology (UTAUT) model. We surveyed 127 business investors in Korea. The results indicated that performance expectancy and social influence were positively associated with investors' intentions to use Zoom for entrepreneurs' pitch presentations in a voluntary setting (i.e., after the pandemic restrictions are fully lifted). Effort expectancy and facilitating conditions were not significantly related to investors' intentions. To cope with natural disasters and their impact, various types of risk assessment tools have been developed to assess hazards from a scientific point of view as well as the socioeconomic impacts of a hazardous event. Because most of the assessment tools have been developed using local and regional characteristics, there are limitations when applying special cases consisting of various disaster-related datasets in Korea. In this paper, we collected open data scattered among various institutions and guaranteed data interoperability through a standardization process considering various formats. In addition, this study presents a scalable design method and implementation of a database system which can be easily employed in Korean loss estimation due to natural hazards. The proposed database system will be of great help in predicting the disaster scale and degree of damage, in supporting decision-making to minimize damage, and could serve as a data platform of disaster risk reduction and prevention. As the economy grows in South Korea and the needs of consumers become increasingly diversified, various consumer markets are emerging. In this study, the reasons for customers' intentions to revisit a franchise coffee shop were explored. Many researchers have found that customer satisfaction is a major factor in the intention to revisit, and the factors affecting this satisfaction have been presented as major research topics. However, in this study, in order to examine the consumers' behavior toward revisit intentions, the results were analyzed by dividing the consumer data into a group of college students in their 20s and a group of office workers in their 30s and 40s. The results of this study found that in regard to customers' habitual intentions to revisit, perceived product quality and brand awareness were more influential than service quality or the physical environment. In particular, before returning to a coffee shop, customers habitually recalled the coffee shop they wanted to revisit, suggesting that the taste of the coffee and the quality of the various products had a very important impact on their revisiting habits. The application of machine learning techniques to the epidemiology of COVID-19 is a necessary measure that can be exploited to curtail the further spread of this endemic. Conventional techniques used to determine the epidemiology of COVID-19 are slow and costly, and data are scarce. We investigate the effects of noise filters on the performance of machine learning algorithms on the COVID-19 epidemiology dataset. Noise filter algorithms are used to remove noise from the datasets utilized in this study. We applied nine machine learning techniques to classify the epidemiology of COVID-19, which are bagging, boosting, support vector machine, bidirectional long short-term memory, decision tree, naïve Bayes, k-nearest neighbor, random forest, and multinomial logistic regression. Data from patients who contracted coronavirus disease were collected from the Kaggle database between 23 January 2020 and 24 June 2020. Noisy and filtered data were used in our experiments. As a result of denoising, machine learning models have produced high results for the prediction of COVID-19 cases in South Korea. For isolated cases after performing noise filtering operations, machine learning techniques achieved an accuracy between 98–100%. By analyzing survey data on nuclear energy policy in South Korea, this study examined the influence of citizens' knowledge on the perceptions of and attitudes to government communication initiatives that are characterized by symmetry and transparency, and their effects in developing institutional legitimacy and policy acceptance. The findings indicate that symmetrical and transparent communication are involved in forming institutional legitimacy and policy acceptance of government decisions on the controversial topic of nuclear energy, but the process differs depending on citizens' knowledge of the topic. Well-informed citizens who used reasoning were more likely than others to respond positively to symmetrical and transparent communication, which shaped their support for institutional legitimacy and policy acceptance on nuclear energy policy issues. Curriculums play a key role in implementing the educational goals and directions of a university. Universities regularly update their curriculums to actively respond to internal and external environmental changes. Korean universities face challenges, including a steady decline in enrollment and demand-oriented convergence education. Because of the nature of convergence science, library and information science should respond more actively to new challenges. This study analyzes the current status of library and information science courses according to subjects and universities. Data was collected from the websites of each university, and various methods such as text analysis, frequency analysis, and network analysis were applied to investigate current status of LIS in Korea.
