Research information systems (CRIS) evaluate research achievements and should contribute to the continuous improvement of research. Based on an online survey and interviews with experts from the euroCRIS organization, this research paper gives an overview of the ethical aspects in the field of research information management and shows how CRIS represent ethical dimensions of scientific research and how their development, implementation and functioning should comply with common ethical standards.
