The ideal timing of acetabular fractures fixation remains contentious. Early immediate fixation was thought to increase the surgery duration and blood loss while facilitating earlier mobilization and shorter hospital stay; and vice versa for the late fixation after 7 days. The purpose of this review was to compare the impact of early (defined as within 48 hours) versus later definitive fixation of acetabular fractures on postoperative outcomes. It was found that early surgical treatment has certain advantages with regards to blood loss, operative time, and LOS especially in patients with lower ISS.
