Copper(II) complexes immobilized through the use of chitosan derivatives as polymeric ligands were investigated via spectroscopic and thermodynamic methods. The metal complexes, which have a tetragonal symmetry, have their stereochemical characteristics regulated by the charge state of the ionizable groups and the chirality of the carbon atom. Molecular characterization of the Cu(II)-1 and Cu(II)-2 active sites was also carried out under different pH conditions.
