Two interesting dinuclear Zn(II)-compounds Zn 2 L 3 Cl 4 ( 1 ) and Zn 2 L 4 Cl 4 ( 2 ) were synthesized through the in situ zinc-induced reaction of simple pyridyl terminated (L 1 /L 2 )Schiff base ligands with ZnCl 2 in the mixture solvents of DMF and pyridine at 80 °C for three days (where L 1 = N-(2-pyridyl-methyl)-pyridine-2-carbaldimine, L 2 = 1-(pyridin-2-yl)-N-(pyridin-2-yl-methylene)ethanamine, L 3 = 2,3,5,6-tetra-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine, L 4 = 1,2-di(pyridin-2-yl)-bis(1-(pyridin-2-yl)-ethylidene)ethane-1,2-diamine). The elemental analysis (EA) and IR results reveal that in situ formation of one new ligand L 3 in 1 involves two C C coupling reactions from two molecular L 1 featuring H atom in α -carbon of C N moiety, while in situ formation of another new ligand L 4 in 2 involves one C C coupling reaction from L 2 featuring –CH 3 group in α -carbon of C N moiety. Obviously, different molecular structures between 1 and 2 closely related to the different substituents in simple Schiff base ligands. Abstract: Two zinc(II) complexes with NO- and N2O-set oxime-containing Schiff base ligand of 2-hydroxyimino-N′-[1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene]propanohydrazone (Hpop), namely [Zn3(pop)2-(CH3OH)2Cl4] (1) and [Zn(pop)Cl]4·(H2O)2 (2), have been successfully synthesized from the reaction of Hpop with ZnCl2 in CH3OH under different temperatures and fully characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, EA and IR as well as TG. At the low temperature, the linear M3L2-type trinuclear Zn(II) compound 1 was obtained, however, the grid-like Zn4L4-type tetranuclear Zn(II) compound 2 was given at the high temperature from the same reactants. Interestingly, compound 1 may be irreversibly transformed into 2 via ring-closed coordination reaction under the high temperature, accompanied by the corresponding changes in fluorescent property. Abstract: A novel molybdenum phosphate based on [Mo6P4] inorganic subunits and [Mn(H2O)2]2+ cations, Mn[Mo6O12(OH)3(PO4)(HPO4)2(H2PO4)]2[Mn(H2O)2]2(Hen)4·13H2O (en = ethyl enediamine), has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, EPR spectrum and TGA analysis. The 3-D framework of the compound contains microporous structure with large cavities filled by mono-protonated Hen+ and water molecules. Abstract: A novel two-dimensional heterometallic iodoplumbate, [Pb3I10Cu4(phen)2] n (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) constructed from [Pb3I10]4− iodoplumbate chains and [Cu2I4(phen)]2− entities has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The solid compound exhibits an intriguing semiconducting property with E g =2.62eV. The thermochromic behavior of the compound has been also studied. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: A new 2-D inorganic–organic hybrid constructed from mixed-valence Cu(I/II) ions and mixed ligands, (H3sip=5-sulfoisophthalic acid, bipy=4,4′-bipyridine), has been synthesized and characterized by IR, TGA, XPS, EPR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two different kinds of chains in the compound constructed from [CuO4] planar squares and [CuN2O] triangulars, respectively, further interconnect together to give rise to an interesting 2-D layer framework. The compound exhibits strong yellow emission at 445nm excited by 378nm in the solid state at room temperature. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

KVPC exhibit high proton conductive behaviours due to particles with different sizes. This is the first metal organic-phosphate framework in which proton conductivity has been tuned by different particle sizes. • KVPC exhibit different conductive behaviors due to particles with different sizes. • The conductivity of KVPC-S is high to 1.15 × 10−2 S cm−1 at 40 °C under 95% RH. • The conductivity of membranes reach up to 1.19 × 10-3 S cm−1 and remain no significant change within 6 h. The proton conductions of open-framework metal phosphates K 2 [(VO) 2 (HPO 4) 2 (C 2 O 4)] (KVPC) with large and small particle sizes, namely KVPC-L and KVPC-S, have been evaluated. Varied particle sizes result in different proton conductive behaviors. KVPC-S exhibits a high proton conductivity of 1.15 × 10−2 S cm−1 under 40 °C, 95% RH and possesses a stable proton conduction for 4 h. Furthermore, proton conductivities of composite membranes are investigated, and the value can reach up to 1.19 × 10-3 S cm−1 under 60 °C, 95% RH and remain no significant change within 6 h. Abstract: Three isostructural lanthanide complexes, [Ln2(H2O)4(DMSO)](CuI)4(Ina)4(ox)[HIna=isonicotinic acid; H2ox=oxalic acid; Ln=Pr(1), Sm(2), Eu(3)], have been synthesized under the solvothermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and elemental analysis (EA) and IR spectra. Complexes 1–3 present 2-D pillar-chained frameworks and consist of two distinct chain-like motifs of inorganic [Cu4I4]n cluster chains and organic Ln-carboxyl-oxalic [Ln2(μ 2-Ina)2(Ina)2(μ 2-ox)]n chains. The 13C NMR of HIna indicates ox2− in 1–3 is generated by the in situ decomposition of HIna. Additionally, the photoluminescent properties of 1–3 are also discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: One new 3-D PbII complex, {[Pb2(tza)(μ 3-OH)(μ 3-Cl)(μ 4-Cl)]n (1) (Htza=tetrazole-1-acetic acid), has been synthesized from the reaction of tetrazole-1-acetic acid (Htza) with PbCl2 at pH=8.5 under hydro-solvent condition and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and IR spectra. The results show that the coordination chemistry of the multi-dentate ligand Htza on PbII ion has good pH sensitivity. At pH=5 and 7, two once reported 3-D framework complexes {[Pb(tza)2]n (2) and [Pb(tza)(μ 3-Cl)]n (3) are obtained, respectively. And then at pH=8.5, the resultant three-dimensional complex 1 presents the pillar-layer framework network with a thickness of 8.25Å of layer [Pb2(μ 3-OH)(μ 2-O)2(μ 3-Cl)(μ 4-Cl)]n, in which there still exists the μ 3-bridging mode of OH− group and the μ 2-carboxyl oxygen atom besides the μ 3- and μ 4-bridging manners of the Cl− ion. Furthermore, the luminescent property of complex 1 has also been investigated, and the result exhibits blue photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature, which shows that this complex may be a good candidate for photoactive material. Abstract: Two new complexes based on 4-(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid (HL), (Sm2L6·H2O)n (1) and (LuL3)n (2), have been synthesized under the solvothermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and elemental analysis (EA) and IR spectra. The results show that both complexes are isomorphous and possess 2-D pillar-chained frameworks, consisting of 1-D triple-stranded double-helical (PPM/MMP) [Ln(η 2-O)(μ 2-OCO)2]n (Ln=Sm(1), Lu(2)) motif as chain and μ 3-(η 1:η 1:η 1)-bridging ligand L− as pillar, though they have different space groups of triclinic P-1 for 1 and monoclinic P21/c for 2. Two complexes represent the first example of 2-D lanthanide compound containing 4-(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid as the sole ligand.
