Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has emerged as a groundbreaking and highly promising approach for the management of cancer. This paper reviews the efficacy of CAR-T therapy in the treatment of various hematological malignancies, also, with a mention of its effect on solid tumors, for which they have not received FDA approval yet. Different common and uncommon side effects are also discussed in this paper, with attention to the effect of each drug separately. By reviewing the recommendations of the FDA for CAR-T therapy research, we have extensively discussed dose-limiting toxicities. This further highlights the need for precise dosing strategies, striking a balance between therapeutic benefits and potential risks. Sepsis is characterized by the extensive release of cytokines and other mediators. It results in a dysregulated immune response and can lead to organ damage and death. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties and immunoregulation functions in various disorders such as sepsis, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, lung fibrosis, gallstone formation, and diabetes. This paper investigates the effects of curcumin on immune status and inflammatory response in mice subjected to cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). Inflammatory tissue injury was evaluated by histological observation. Magnetic microbeads were used to isolate splenic CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells (Tregs), and phenotypes were then analyzed by flow cytometry. The levels of Foxp3 were detected by Western blot and real-time PCR and cytokine levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We found that the administration of curcumin significantly alleviated inflammatory injury of the lung and kidney in septic mice. The suppressive function of Treg cells was enhanced and the plasma levels of IL-10 increased after treatment with curcumin. Furthermore, the secretion of plasma TNF-α and IL-6 was notably inhibited in septic mice treated with curcumin and administration with curcumin could improve survival after CLP. • Docetaxel boosted anticancer effects of NK cells and CD8 + T lymphocytes. • Docetaxel stimulated the recruitment of tumor-associated macrophages. • Targeting some molecules such as PD-1 enhanced the anticancer activity of docetaxel. There are several interactions within the tumor microenvironment (TME) that affect the response of cancer cells to therapy. There are also a large number of cells and secretions in TME that increase resistance to therapy. Following the release of immunosuppressive, pro-angiogenic, and metastatic molecules by certain cells such as tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), and cancer cells, immune evasion, angiogenesis, and metastasis may be induced. However, natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic CD8 + T lymphocytes (CTLs) can responsively release anticancer molecules. In addition, anticancer drugs can modulate these cells and their interactions in favor of either cancer resistance or therapy. Docetaxel belongs to taxanes, a class of anti-tumor drugs, which acts through the polymerization of tubulin and the induction of cell cycle arrest. Also, it has been revealed that taxanes including docetaxel affect cancer cells and the other cells within TME through some other mechanisms such as modulation of immune system responses, angiogenesis, and metastasis. In this paper, we explain the basic mechanisms of docetaxel interactions with malignant cells. Besides, we review the diverse effects of docetaxel on TME and cancer cells in consequence. Lastly, the modulatory effects of docetaxel alone or in conjunction with other anticancer agents on anti-tumor immunity, cancer cell resistance, angiogenesis, and metastasis will be discussed. Metabolic alterations occur commonly in tumor cells as a way to adapt available energetic sources for their proliferation, survival and resistance. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) is an intracellular enzyme catalyzing tryptophan degradation into kynurenine. IDO1 expression shows a rise in the stroma of many types of human cancers, and it provides a negative feedback mechanism for cancer evasion from immunosurveillance. Upregulation of IDO1 correlates with cancer aggression, poor prognosis and shortened patient survival. The increased activity of this endogenous checkpoint impairs effector T cell function, increases regulatory T cell (Treg) population and induces immune tolerance, so its inhibition potentiates anti-tumor immune responses and reshapes immunogenic state of tumor microenvironment (TME) presumably through normalizing effector T cell activity. A point is that the expression of this immunoregulatory marker is upregulated after immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy, and that it has inducible effect on expression of other checkpoints. These are indicative of the importance of IDO1 as an attractive immunotherapeutic target and rationalizing combination of IDO1 inhibitors with ICI drugs in patients with advanced solid cancers. In this review, we aimed to discuss about the impact of IDO1 on tumor immune ecosystem, and the IDO1-mediated bypass of ICI therapy. The peculiar property of Thymosin alpha 1 (Tα1) to act as master regulator of immune homeostasis has been successfully defined in different physiological and pathological contexts ranging from cancer to infection. Interestingly, recent papers also demonstrated its mitigating effect on the "cytokine storm" as well as on the T-cell exhaustion/activation in SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals. Nevertheless, in spite of the increasing knowledge on Tα1-induced effects on T cell response confirming the distinctive features of this multifaceted peptide, little is known on its effects on innate immunity during SARS-CoV-2 infection. Here, we interrogated peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) cultures stimulated with SARS-CoV-2 to disclose Tα1 properties on the main cell players of early response to infection, namely monocytes and myeloid dendritic cells (mDC). Moving from ex vivo data showing an enhancement in the frequency of inflammatory monocytes and activated mDC in COVID-19 patients, a PBMC-based experimental setting reproduced in vitro a similar profile with an increased percentage of CD16+ inflammatory monocytes and mDC expressing CD86 and HLA-DR activation markers in response to SARS-CoV-2 stimulation. Interestingly, the treatment of SARS-CoV-2-stimulated PBMC with Tα1 dampened the inflammatory/activation status of both monocytes and mDC by reducing the release of pro-inflammatory mediators, including TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8, while promoting the production of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. This study further clarifies the working hypothesis on Tα1 mitigating action on COVID-19 inflammatory condition. Moreover, these evidence shed light on inflammatory pathways and cell types involved in acute SARS-CoV-2 infection and likely targetable by newly immune-regulating therapeutic approaches. Oligomannose-coated liposomes (OMLs), containing entrapped antigens, serve as effective antigen delivery vehicles and as a novel adjuvant to induce antigen-specific cellular immune responses. However, in vitro activation of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) by OMLs has not yet been demonstrated. In this paper, we found that OMLs can deliver the antigens and the stimulatory signals into inflammatory monocytes in vitro , leading to differentiation of the cells to mature APCs. When OMLs were co-cultured with peripheral blood mononuclear cells from C57BL/6 mice in the presence of mouse serum, OMLs were preferentially incorporated into both Ly6C high monocytes and Ly6C low monocytes, which are referred to as murine inflammatory and resident monocytes, respectively. The expression of CD11c, CD80, CD86, CCR7, and MHC class II on the Ly6C high monocytes was significantly enhanced during the 24 h after OML uptake, whereas upregulation of these molecules on the Ly6C low monocytes was limited. In addition, the antigenic peptide of OVA encased in OMLs was presented on MHC class I of only Ly6C high monocytes. Furthermore, OVA-encasing OML-ingesting monocytes can activate CD8 + T cells from OT-1 mice, suggesting that antigens encapsulated in OMLs were cross-presented in inflammatory monocytes. Adoptive transfer of the monocytes that engulf OVA-encasing OMLs led to induction of an antigen-specific Th1 immune response in mice. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a blood-borne pathogen which has chronically infected people worldwide. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to design prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine in order to control HCV infection. To date, several researchers have attempted to improve the efficiency of HCV vaccine by using different adjuvants. However, a few studies have focused on the synthetic immunomodulatory drugs as adjuvants for HCV vaccine. Recently, researchers have shown that lenalidomide, which is used to treat the patients with multiple myeloma, is capable of improving the immune system factors. In this paper, two doses of lenalidomide along with pcDNA3.1 + NS3 as HCV DNA vaccine were administrated in mice models and the percentage of regulatory T cells (Treg cells) and the cells with PD-1 + expression in spleen of mice model were investigated by flow cytometry method. Additionally, activities of CTL cells and NK cells were evaluated in spleen of prophylactic and therapeutic mice models via LDH method. Results of the Treg and PD-1 analysis showed that low dose of lenalidomide along with pcDNA3.1 + NS3 can noticeably decrease the percentage of Treg cells and the cells with PD-1 + expression, while lenalidomide can significantly increase the CTL and NK activity in mice models. Also, results of the therapeutic mice model, in which SP2/0 cells- challenged mice were treated with 5 mg/kg lenalidomide in combination with pcDNA3.1 + NS3, reasonably agreed with those of the prophylactic model. Finally, it was found that lenalidomide can reduce the level of Treg cells which results in lower the cells with PD-1 + expression and subsequently higher CTL and NK cell activities. This study concluded that lenalidomide possess the characteristics of an ideal adjuvant candidate for use in combination with HCV DNA vaccine in order to promote the immune response and vaccine efficiency. • This paper compares and analyzes the difference of immune status of T lymphocytes and their subsets in hepatitis B patients under different ALT conditions for the first time. • For the first time, this paper reveals the changes of immune status and the effects of antiviral therapy on immune function when ALT is greater than or equal to 2 times the normal upper limit. • This paper puts forward for the first time the significance of using ALT as a node to judge the immune function of the body. The aim of the present study was to explore the effect of hepatitis B virus on T lymphocyte and its subsets in different ALT states, and elucidate the immunological mechanism of ALT basing antiviral therapy for hepatitis B. 363 chronic hepatitis B patients were selected as the study subjects. According to ALT abnormalities, the patients were divided into three study groups. ALT normal group 131 cases, normal≦ ALT < 2 times of upper limit group 110 cases, ALT ≥ 2 times of upper limit group 122 cases. Entecavir was given to the ALT ≥ 2 times of upper limit group patients and followed up for 24 weeks. The hepatitis B antigen antibody parameters were measured by chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer, the liver function parameters were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer, the hepatitis B virus load were measured by quantitative PCR analyzer, T lymphocytes were detected by flow cytometry, the level of IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-4 and IL-10 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Detecting the influence of different hepatitis B viru loads in different groups on immunological indexes, and the virological and immunological indexes changes in before and after antiviral therapy patients. In the ALT normal group, different virus load hepatitis B virus had minor effect on T lymphocytes and their subsets (P > 0.05). In the ALT ≥ double upper limit of normal group. with the virus load increased, The total number of T lymphocytes, CD3+ CD4 + T lymphocytes decreased, (P < 0.05)CD3+ CD8 + T lymphocytes increased(P < 0.05). With the virus load increased the cytokines IL-2, IFN-γ which reflect the Th1 lymphocytes increased(P < 0.05), the cytokines IL-4、IL-10 which reflect the Th2 lymphocytes decreased(P < 0.05). Before and after 24 weeks of entecavir treatment, the patient's HBV-DNA decreased significantly(P < 0.05) and the body's immune function improved significantly. Emerging evidence reveals the controversial role of B cells in antitumor immunity, but the underlying mechanisms have to be explored. Three latest articles published in the issue 521 of Nature in 2015 reconfirmed the puzzling topic and put forward some explanations of how B cells regulate antitumor T-cell responses both positively and negatively. This paper attempts to demonstrate that different B-cell subpopulations have distinct immunological properties and that they are involved in either antitumor responses or immunosuppression. Recent studies supporting the positive and negative roles of B cells in tumor development were summarized comprehensively. Several specific B-cell subpopulations, such as IgG(+), IgA(+), IL-10(+), and regulatory B cells, were described in detail. The mechanisms underlying the controversial B-cell effects were mainly attributed to different B-cell subpopulations, different B-cell-derived cytokines, direct B cell-T cell interaction, different cancer categories, and different malignant stages, and the immunological interaction between B cells and T cells is mediated by dendritic cells. Promising B-cell-based antitumor strategies were proposed and novel B-cell regulators were summarized to present interesting therapeutic targets. Then DC present the antigen peptide to the initial T cells and further differentiate them into helper T cells 2(Th2). As an important part of humoral immunity, Th2 participates in the regulation of type 2 immune response through the secretion of cytokines such as interleukin 4(IL-4), IL-5, and IL-13 and plays a leading role. However, our current research on DC is limited and its status in allergic diseases is unclear.Among them, allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, atopic dermatitis, and food allergy are DC-mediated Th2 immune-related factor disorder-related allergic diseases, and some progress has been made in recent years in the study of the pathogenesis of these diseases. Augmenter of liver regeneration (ALR), produced and released by hepatocytes, has cytoprotective and immunoregulatory effects on liver injury, and has been used in many experimental applications. However, little attention has been paid to the effects of ALR on concanavalin A (Con A)-induced hepatitis. The purpose of this paper is to explore the protective effect of ALR on Con A-induced hepatitis and elucidate potential mechanisms. We found that the ALR pretreatment evidently reduced the amount of ALT and AST in serum. In addition, pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and iNOS were suppressed. ALR pretreatment also decreased CD4 + , CD8 + T cell infiltration in liver. Besides, we observed that ALR pretreatment was capable of suppressing the activation of several signaling pathways in Con A-induced hepatitis. B7-H3, a recently discovered B7 family member, is documented as a regulator in the inflammatory response as well as T cell-mediated immune responses. In this paper, we find that patients with acute pancreatitis revealed overwhelming levels of serum soluble B7-H3 (sB7-H3) associated with the clinical outcomes. Furthermore, B7-H3 protein was marked increased in l -arginine-induced acute experimental pancreatitis. Anti-B7-H3 monoclonal antibody treatment attenuated the proinflammatory cytokine production, downregulated the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, and ameliorated the pancreas disruption in l -arginine-induced pancreatitis. In addition, although l -arginine alone failed to induce the production of proinflammatory cytokine and anti-B7-H3 mAb had no effect on the proinflammatory cytokine production of acinar cells, administration of anti-B7-H3 mAb in the coculture model of acinar cells and macrophages stimulated by l -arginine displayed the similar effects. On the whole, B7-H3 participates in the development of acute pancreatitis, and anti-B7-H3 monoclonal antibody ameliorates severity of acute experimental pancreatitis via attenuation of the inflammatory response. Abstract: Oridonin is a natural compound purified from Rabdosia rubescens that has remarkable anti-inflammatory and antitumor activities. Although oridonin has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for many years to treat inflammatory diseases, the underlying mechanisms of these activities are not well understood. In this paper, we explored whether oridonin could be used in transplantation and the mechanisms of its immunosuppression. Oridonin efficacy in transplantation is manifested by prolonged graft survival and decreased graft infiltration. Oridonin induces T cell apoptosis in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. In vivo, oridonin depleted large numbers of T cells from the spleen and peripheral blood. Decreased T cell numbers resulted from apoptosis, which was accompanied by increased phagocyte numbers in the periphery. Reduction in the number of thymocytes was observed in mice treated for 8days, and CD4+CD8+ cells were more sensitive to apoptosis induced by oridonin. Additionally, successive treatment with oridonin for 16days resulted in a considerable reduction in the total number of spleen cells and spleen volume. • Major immune effector cells like CD8+ T lymphocytes and natural killer cells are able to kill or inhibit Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells and their cytotoxic ability can be enhanced or down-regulated by certain cytokines or drugs. • HCC cells can impair the function of major immune effector cells through a variety of mechanisms. • Organoids or direct contact cell co-culture especially with primary HCC cells and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes provide better understanding of cell–cell interactions between major immune effector cells and HCC cells. • Immunotherapy like checkpoint inhibitors and adoptive cell transfer showed notable effectiveness and safety in preventing HCC recurrence as adjuvant therapy. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver neoplasm with high morbidity and mortality. Tumor immunotherapy might be promising adjuvant therapy for HCC after surgery. To better develop HCC immunotherapy, comprehensive understanding of cell–cell interactions between immune effector cells and HCC cells remains crucial. To review the existing studies to summarize the cell–cell interactions between major immune effector cells and HCC cells providing new data for HCC immunotherapy. A systematic review was conducted by searching PubMed database covering all papers published in recent five years up to January 2020. The guidelines of the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews were firmly followed. There are 9 studies researching the interactions between CD8+ T lymphocytes and HCC cells and 22 studies researching that between natural killer (NK) cells and HCC cells. Among the 9 studies, 6 studies reported that CD8+ T lymphocytes showed cytotoxicity towards HCC cells while 3 studies found CD8+ T lymphocytes were impaired by HCC cells. Among the 22 studies, 20 studies presented that NK cells could inhibit HCC cells. Two studies were found to report NK cell dysfunction in HCC. Based on the systematic analysis, we concluded that CD8+ T lymphocytes and NK cells can inhibit HCC cells. While in turn, HCC cells can also result in the dysfunction of those effector cells through various mechanisms. Abstract: Icaritin is a native compound from Epimedium Genus, a traditional Chinese herbal medicine which is effective in treating asthma, autoimmune diseases and viral infections. In the present paper, the immunosuppressive effects of icaritin were found through in vitro and in vivo studies. Icaritin could dose-dependently inhibit murine CD4+ T cells proliferation stimulated with mitogens or specific antigen ovabumin (OVA). Icaritin at 0.25–25μM could down-regulate T cell activation marker CD25 expression and inhibit IL-2 production. It could also reduce the Th1 cytokine IFN-γ production significantly if the T cells were activated by ConA or anti-CD3; while the inhibition of IL-4 secretion was only seen on anti-CD3 activated T cells treated with low concentrations of icaritin. In vivo study showed that treatment of icaritin at 10mg/kg/day on mice could suppress the immune response with prolonged allograft skin survival. Further study demonstrated that it reduced the alloantigen-induced splenocytes proliferation and Th1/Th2 cytokines. It could also increase NF-AT luciferase activity in Jurkat-NF-AT-luc T cells. Abstract: For decades Experimental Autoimmune Encephalitis (EAE) has remained as an unsurpassed multiple sclerosis (MS) animal model. C-Phycocyanin (C-Pc) has been reported to exhibit pharmacological properties that may be expected to symptomatically improve EAE and MS. However, in this paper we reveal a basic underlying mechanism that may provide a new approach to the rationale of the overall beneficial effect of this natural antioxidant. We demonstrate that C-Pc is able to trigger mechanisms preventing or downgrading EAE expression and induces a regulatory T cell (Treg) response, in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from MS patients. These results agree with reports suggesting that Treg limit acute MS attacks and that C-Pc may act as a neuroprotector and thereby reverts the organic and functional damage in neurodegenerative disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). Moreover, evidence is provided on the antioxidant activity of C-Pc within the CNS, intended to improve the myelin and axonal damage of EAE induced Lewis rats. Our results indicate that specific Treg activation may represent a central and essential mechanism in supporting the therapeutic potential of C-Pc for MS and may lead to new and more effective therapies; this property would then complement and enhance other proven active principles such as interferons (IFN), giving rise to combined therapies. Abstract: In the past years, research on immune regulation has exploded thanks to the re-emergence of T suppressor cells (Ts), now coined as regulatory T cells (Tregs). It has been established that different populations of Tregs exist in the immune system, and the generation, mechanism of suppression and the cellular and molecular targets of Tregs are being unraveled. This will lead to new opportunities for immune intervention to treat autoimmune disease and to achieve clinical transplantation tolerance. The scientific progress in the field of translational medicine was presented at the 7th International Conference on New Trends in Immunosuppression and Immunotherapy in Berlin in February 2006. In this special issue of International Immunopharmacology, several papers submitted to this congress will highlight some of the advances in this burgeoning field of translational medicine. Abstract: Contamination of water with arsenic is a problem affecting several regions of the world. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from chronically exposed individuals show a lower replicating activity than non-exposed individuals when stimulated with phytohemagglutinin (PHA). We have previously reported that PBMC from healthy donors treated in vitro with 1 μM sodium arsenite (NaAsO2) and stimulated with PHA showed a reduction in proliferation by a delay in cell cycle entry and a decrease in the rounds of cell division. In this paper we tested the effect of 1–5 μM NaAsO2 on the proliferation, viability, blast transformation, expression of the CD4 and CD8 molecules, and during the activation and proliferation of both CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes. We found a reduction in cell proliferation and an increase in non-dividing cells with higher concentrations of NaAsO2 (2–5 μM) when proliferation was studied by 5,6-carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester (CFSE) dilution. The use of 7-aminoactinomycin D (7-AAD) in CFSE-labeled cells allowed us to detect an increase in percentage of non-dividing cells, and an increase in apoptotic/dead cells mainly in non-proliferating cells. Analysis of the expression of CD4 and CD8 molecules on these cells showed that concentrations ≥2 μM NaAsO2 reduced the expression of the CD8 molecule and induced apoptosis/death in CD4+ cells. Analysis of blast transformation by flow cytometry showed an accumulation of CD8+ resting cells in the presence of NaAsO2. Analysis of CD25 and CD69 expression in kinetics experiments in both subtypes showed a delay in the expression of CD25 and a delay in the downregulation of the CD69 molecule, in both CD4+ and CD8+ cells. However, in the case of CD8+ cells, we detected an accumulation of a CD25−CD69− population in the presence of increasing concentrations of NaAsO2. Altogether, our results show that NaAsO2 alters the expression kinetics of the early activation molecules CD25 and CD69 similarly in both subtypes. In addition, activated and non-activated CD4+ cells die by apoptotic mechanisms and although a percentage of CD8+ cells also die by apoptosis, a subpopulation of these cells is unable to activate and thus accumulates as resting cells. Abstract: In the present paper, the effect of the aqueous extract from aerial parts of Artemisia vestita (AV-ext), a traditional Tibetan medicine, on ear contact sensitivity was examined. AV-ext significantly reduced the ear swelling when administered during the induction phase of picryl-chloride (PCl)-induced ear contact sensitivity in mice. The extract also showed a dose-dependent inhibition on lymphocyte proliferation and IL-2 production in Con A-activated spleen cells. The proliferation inhibition was confirmed in the mixed lymphocytes reaction. Furthermore, the adhesion of the isolated spleen cells from PCl-sensitized mice to type IV collagen was significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner by AV-ext. Such decrease was also seen in AV-ext-treated Jurkat T cells and the T cells purified from above spleen cells. The purified spleen T cells from PCl-sensitized mice produced more matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) than naive T cells, and AV-ext remarkably reduced MMP-9 production both in vivo and in vitro. These results suggest that AV-ext may alleviate contact sensitivity through blocking the activation of T lymphocytes and decreasing their localization to the inflammatory sites via down-regulating the potential of cell adhesion and metalloproteinase production. Dendritic cells (DCs) are recognized as the sole professional antigen-presenting cells capable of priming naive T cells of the helper and cytotoxic phenotypes. This property is presently exploited with success in vaccinal strategies against pathogens or tumor cells that otherwise escape immune recognition, but the repeated infusions of ex vivo expanded and sensitized DCs are usually required to achieve protection. In this paper, we demonstrate that liposomal antigens can efficiently relay and propagate the action of DCs, inducing a strong long-term response against their associated antigen. Their effect is mainly achieved by improving the ex vivo loading of DCs and by efficiently channeling the activation stimulus into the induction of effector function. This is demonstrated by the sustained immunoglobulin production as well as by the sustained lymphoproliferation and the increased cytokine secretion that can be achieved upon restimulation of DC-primed immune cells with limited amount of liposomal antigenic material. Being well-tolerated and easily prepared, liposomal antigens could therefore be expected to significantly contribute to the efficiency and to a more general utilization of the highly promising but rather cumbersome DC-based immunotherapies. Abstract: In the past decade it has been established that regulatory T cells (Tregs) control all immune responses. As the induction and effector mechanisms used by Tregs are being unraveled, it is emerging that a reciprocal population of CD4+ T lymphocytes exists in the immune system that produces inflammatory cytokine IL-17, and coined "Th17 cells". Th17 cells have been implicated in the pathogenesis of many forms of human disease. The development, function, mechanism of action, and homeostasis of Tregs and Th17 cells, and the reciprocal control between Tregs and Th17 cells were presented at the Second International Conference on Regulatory T Cells and Th17 Cells and Clinical Application in Human Diseases in Shanghai on 17–20 July 2010 (China Tregs/Th17 2010). In this Special Issue of International Immunopharmacology, several paper submitted to the conference will highlight the biology of Tregs and Th17 cells, and their clinical application in human disease. The latest progress in the development, function, mechanism of action, and homeostasis of regulatory T cells, and their translation to the clinic were presented at the International Conference on Regulatory T Cells and Clinical Application in Human Diseases in Beijing on 25–27 October 2008 (China Tregs 2008). In this Special Issue of International Immunopharmacology, several papers submitted to the China Tregs 2008 will highlight some of the recent advances in the biology of regulatory T cells and current strategies to translate regulatory T cells into the clinic.
