This paper investigates vibration control of plate through Electro-Magnetic Constrained Layer Damping (EMCLD) which consists of electromagnet layer, permanent magnet layer and viscoelastic damping layer. The equivalent current assumption is adopted to model the magnetic control force produced by EMCLD. The governing equations of the plate system are obtained using Hamilton's Principle. A simulation and an experiment on vibration control of a cantilever plate are done under the velocity proportional feedback to demonstrate the active control capability of EMCLD. Both the results of simulation and experiment show EMCLD is an effective means for active vibration control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
