Summary: In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), cooperative communication and resource constraint are the two important core characteristics essential to guarantee trusted data dissemination. The cooperative communication between mobile nodes depends on the trust rendered by them towards the process of reliable data routing. However, stringent resource constraints of mobile nodes such as energy, memory, communications, and computations result in the introduction of selfish and malicious node that completely degrades the network performance in different dimensions. In this paper, Z number improved reference ideal method (RIM)‐based decision‐making process (NIRIMDMP) is proposed with the merits of maximizing deviation method (MDM) and best–worst method (BWM) to ensure reliable data routing by modeling the cooperation degree in terms of Z number. This NIRIMDMP adopted Z number to represent the information reliability and handle the problem of inherent uncertainty during the process of evaluating each mobile node in the routing process. In specific, MDM and BWM are included into the proposed NIRIMDMP to determine comprehensive attribute weights based on the calculated objective and subjective weights that could be possible derived in routing. It extended the merits of classical RIM using Z numbers to confirm reliable ranking of mobile nodes, even when the optimal solution exists amid extreme values taken into consideration for assessing the mobile nodes during decision making. Simulation investigations of the proposed NIRIMDMP confirmed improved throughput and network lifetime with reduced control overhead, energy consumptions, and delay independent of the amount of malicious and non‐cooperative nodes. Summary: In general, there are several many devices that can overload the network and reduce performance. Devices can minimize interference and optimize bandwidth usage by using directional antennas and by avoiding overlapping communication ranges. In addition, devices need to carefully manage their use of resources, such as bandwidth and energy. Bandwidth is limited in wireless personal area networks (WPANs), so devices need to carefully select which data to send and receive. In this paper, an intelligent performance analysis of energy‐efficient resource optimization model has been proposed for device‐to‐device (D2D) communication in fifth‐generation (5G) WPAN. The proposed energy‐efficient resource allocation in D2D communication is important because it helps reduce energy consumption and extend the lifespan of devices that are communicating with each other. By allocating resources in an efficient manner, communication between two devices can be optimized for maximum efficiency. This helps reduce the amount of energy needed to power the communication, as well as the amount of energy needed to power the device that is communicating with another device. Additionally, efficient resource allocation helps reduce the overall cost of communication, as the use of fewer resources results in a lower overall cost. The proposed efficient resource allocation helps reduce the environmental impact of communication, as less energy is used for communication. Summary: Over the years, optical communication systems have been a significant source of fast and secure communication. However, factors like noise and mitigation error can degrade the bit error rate (BER) and quality factor (Q factor) of optical communication systems. Predicting the optimal threshold, Q factor, and BER is usually a difficult task. Therefore, in this paper, machine learning‐based linear regression, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression, and Ridge regression have been used for a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)‐based optical communication network to predict the signal quality. These techniques have been used to predict the desired BER, Q factor, threshold, and eye height of the system. To demonstrate this research concept, a DWDM‐based optical communication network of 50 km length is designed and simulated using Optisystem‐14.0. After data preparation, regression models have been developed and validated through diagnostic plots. Results show that mean square error (MSE) has a significant decline with an increase in the number of epochs for all four models. LASSO and Ridge regression have effectively resolved the issue of overfitting, which occurred in the linear regression case. Furthermore, the mean MSE plot proved the significant reduction of mean MSE in the case of LASSO regression. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) is a novel paradigm that consists of a wide network of machines and intelligent devices with the capability of communication and interaction with each other. One of the significant issues for the IoT is its healthcare applications. The positioning systems based on their environment can be classified into two main categories: Indoor and outdoor. Recently, IoT indoor positioning attracts too much attention among researchers for patient monitoring. Hence, in this paper, a stress‐free floor plan indoor positioning algorithm for patient monitoring is proposed, called THIP. The history of the patient's movement is stored in a trajectory history, and this information is employed to estimate the patient's more accurate position. The proposed THIP algorithm is simulated in MATLAB software. Several experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed THIP algorithm raises patient positioning accuracy and declines the distance error cumulative compared to LiFS by about 4.68% and 60.6 m, respectively. Summary: The number of internet users and connected devices has dramatically expanded due to the recent technological boom and the benefits that the internet of things offers to ease our lives. Network scheduling, quality of service, resource allocation, and security issues are now being addressed via software‐defined networking (SDN). SDN has several benefits over traditional networks, including global centralized control, managing network traffic, and separating the forwarding and control plane. The work done in this paper aims to design and implement a traffic‐aware routing framework based on routing optimization presented as an integer linear programming (ILP) to improve heterogeneous traffic flows' quality of service (QoS) in a simulated SDN environment. With the knowledge that the routing problem is a nondeterministic polynomial‐time‐hard problem, the proposed scheme aims to decrease the computational routing time to make the ILP‐based routing system more suitable for real‐time processing. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed framework reduces the computational time by 23% and 49% for Abilene and Goodnet topology, respectively. Additionally, with 1000 flows in the network, the suggested scheme reduces the number of network flows that violate the QoS by 9% and 22% (with Abilene topology) and 16% and 51% (with Goodnet topology) as compared to the existing shortest path delay and sway methods, respectively. Summary As the popularity of the Internet of Things (IoT) increases, so do the energy requirements of IoT terminal equipment. To address the energy shortage problem of equipment and ensure continuous and stable operation in light of renewable energy and an uncertain environment, a rational and efficient energy allocation strategy is required. This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning energy allocation strategy that uses the DQN algorithm to directly interact with the unknown environment. The best energy allocation method is independent of environmental knowledge, and a pretraining algorithm is proposed to maximise the initialization state of the strategy. Experiments of comparison and simulation are conducted under various channel data circumstances. Results indicate that the proposed energy allocation strategy outperforms the current strategy in multiple channel conditions and has a high capacity for adaptation to changing conditions. Summary: Among today's rapidly evolving technologies, artificial intelligence plays a significant role in making decisions by a system without any human intervention. An Emergency Management System (EMS) is a decision support system where emergencies such as tsunami, landslide, fire, cyclone, and electrical short circuits can be prevented with prior detection and can be addressed immediately in an efficient way after the emergency occurred. Automation of EMS can avoid or manage multiple emergencies, which alternatively can save lives, economy, and environment. Quality demand response with fast data transfer, error minimized computation, and effective resource utilization is very much essential while developing the EMSs. This will provide a bridge between the technology and emergency responders. Resource‐limited smart devices can be made rich in computational behavior by outsourcing their requirements such as storage, virtual servers, and web services using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). In this work, we have done a detailed survey on both MCC applications and EMS applications proposed in the literature, and we have also identified the design challenges handled in both MCC and EMS applications. We have presented the design challenges and possible solutions for development of EMS using MCC. We propose an architecture for building an automated EMS using MCC. Summary: Internet of Things (IoT) specifies a transparent and coherent integration of assorted and composite nodes. Unification of these nodes with large resources and servers has brought advancement in technology for industrial and government services. The industrial IoT (IIoT), with smart nodes, enhance the development and manufacturing of industrial process, which is on demand now. However, the security concern is substantial, and it is required to control to perform prosperous assimilation of IIoT. Authentication of these smart nodes and establishing mutual trust among them is essential to keep vulnerabilities and potential risks out. Hence, this paper presents an efficient lightweight secure authentication protocol from the perspective of human‐centered IIoT. This proposed scheme assumes a registration center which simply generates public and secret information for a node when it initially joins the network. Once registration is done, the registration center is not needed anymore, and advanced processes like mutual authentication, secure key exchange, and communications are independently done by nodes involved. Summary: Nowadays, the emerging internet of things (IoT) technology offers the connectivity and communication between all things (various objects/things, devices, actuators, sensors, and mobile devices) at anywhere and anytime. These devices have embedded environment monitoring capabilities (sensors) and significant computational responsibilities. Most of the devices are working by utilizing their limited resources such as energy, memory, and bandwidth. Obviously, battery power is a crucial factor in any network. It makes tedious overheads to the network operations. Prediction of the future energy of the devices could be more helpful for managing resources, connectivity, and communication between the devices in IoT and wireless sensor networks (WSNs). It also facilitates the reliable internet and network connection establishment to the nodes. Hence, this paper presents an energy estimation model to predict the future energy of devices using the Markov and autoregression model. The proposed model facilitates smarter energy management among internet‐connected devices. Performance results show that the proposed method gives significant improvement compared with the neural network and other existing predictions. Further, the proposed model has very lower error performance metrics such as mean square error and computation overhead. Summary: The evolution of intelligent and data‐driven systems has pushed for the tectonic transition from ancient medication to human‐centric Healthcare 4.0. The rise of Internet of Things, Internet of Systems, and wireless body area networks has endowed the health care ecosystem with a new digital transformation supported by sophisticated machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. Under this umbrella, health care recommendation systems have emerged as a driver for providing patient‐centric personalized health care services. Recommendation systems are automatic systems that derive the decisions on the basis of some valid input parameters and vital health information collected through wearable devices, implantable equipments, and various sensor. Therefore, to understand the state‐of‐the‐art developments in the health care ecosystem, this paper provides a comprehensive survey on health care recommendation systems and the associated paradigms. This survey starts from the ancient health care era and move toward the Healthcare 4.0 in a phased manner. The road map from Healthcare 1.0 to Healthcare 4.0 is analyzed to highlight different technology verticals supporting the digital transformation. This study also provides the systematic review of the health care systems, the types of health care systems, and the recommender systems. Moreover, a deep analysis of health care recommender systems and its types is also presented. Finally, the open issues and challenges associated with the adaption and implementation of human‐centric Healthcare 4.0 ecosystem are discussed. Summary: Information transmission is extremely challenging in underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) because, in the acoustic channel, the packet loss is high compared to other channels due to low bandwidth and a long propagation delay. So, designing an efficient energy algorithm is a big challenge in the acoustic channel. In this paper, first, a cluster head (CH) election fitness function based on a hybrid particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm (PSO‐GSA) is proposed for a three‐dimensional (3D) underwater sensor network (UASN). The proposed algorithm includes CH election, CH load, and neighbor CH distance for multi‐hop transmission (MH‐PSOGSA). Then, based on the proposed algorithm, a relay‐based traffic‐aware energy‐efficient routing protocol (R‐TAEERP) with a weight function is proposed to offload the heavy consumption of the CHs. MATLAB simulations were accomplished to compare the performance of MH‐PSOGSA and R‐TAEERP with the existing representative protocols. The heterogeneity in energy and traffic has been considered. The simulation results show better performance of the proposed algorithm than other existing representative protocols in terms of energy consumption, the performance of the stable region, and the lifetime of the network. Summary: This paper presents a fractal‐based compact new monopole antenna for wideband applications. The miniaturization has been achieved by incorporating Minkowski and Koch‐snowflake fractals. The proposed antenna design is etched on top of Rogers RT/5880 dielectric material with a dimension of 8.10×8.10 mm2. The antenna is designed, analyzed, fabricated, and tested in the laboratory. The proposed geometry operates over a 8.62–22.40 GHz with fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 88.84% and VSWR is less than 2. The proposed monopole antenna exhibits nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns over the entire resonating band with a gain of 1–2.91 dBi and a radiation efficiency of more than 60.5%. Also, the measured results of the prototype make an excellent agreement with the simulated counterpart. Further, the antenna gives good time‐domain characteristics. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) has recently attained a prominent role in enabling smooth and effective communication among various networks. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is utilized in IoT to collect peculiar data without interacting with humans in specific applications. Energy is a major problem in WSN‐assisted IoT applications, even though better data communication is achieved through cross‐layer models. This paper proposes a new cross‐layer‐based clustering and routing model to provide a scalable and energy‐efficient long data communication in WSN‐assisted IoT systems for smart agriculture. Initially, the fuzzy k‐medoids clustering approach is used to split the network into various clusters since the formation of clusters plays an important role in energy consumption. Then, a new swarm optimization known as enhanced sparrow search algorithm (ESSA), which is the combination of SSA and chameleon swarm algorithm (CSA), has been introduced for optimal cluster head (CH) selection to solve the energy‐hole problems in WSN. A cross‐layer strategy has been preferred to provide efficient data transmission. Each sensor node parameter of the physical layer, network layer and medium access control (MAC) is considered for processing routing. Finally, a new bio‐inspired algorithm is known as the sandpiper optimization algorithm (SOA), and cosine similarity (CS) has been employed to determine the optimal route for efficient data transmission and retransmission. Summary: In recent years, the usage and applications of Internet of Things (IoT) have increased exponentially. IoT connects multiple heterogeneous devices like sensors, micro controllers, actuators, smart devices like mobiles, watches, etc. IoT contributes the data produced in the context of data collection, including the domains like military, agriculture, healthcare, etc. The diversity of possible applications at the intersection of the IoT and the web semantics has prompted many research teams to work at the interface between these two disciplines. This makes it possible to collect data and control various objects in transparent way. The challenge lies in the use of this data. Ontologies address this challenge to meet specific data needs in the IoT field. This paper presents the implementation of a dynamic agriculture ontology‐building tool that parses the ontology files to extract full data and update it based on the user needs. The technology is used to create the angular library for parsing the OWL files. The proposed ontology framework would accept user‐defined ontologies and provide an interface for an online updating of the owl files to ensure the interoperability in the agriculture IoT. Summary: The work presented in this paper aims to develop a low‐cost ultra‐wideband (UWB) radar system that has the capability to image through the wall of a human target. The proposed radar system relies heavily on a field‐programmable gate array (FPGA) platform. The Xilinx FPGA Kintex‐7 (KC705) board is employed to integrate the main functionalities of the radar system, such as the generation and acquisition of a UWB signal. The generated signal is a monocycle signal, which has an ultra‐wide bandwidth. Due to the UWB nature of this signal, the radar system achieves better penetration ability, as well as high imaging resolution. However, the major challenge of a UWB radar system lies in the stage of digitization, as it requires a high sampling rate analog‐to‐digital converter (ADC). In fact, such a chip is very expensive. Hence, to reach a high sampling resolution using a low‐cost and low‐speed ADC, an efficient sampling strategy is implemented. In contrast to other UWB sampling methods, which require a hardware delay line chip, the new sampling scheme depends only on the FPGA firmware to realize a combination of real‐time and equivalent‐time sampling, which provides better jitter performance. Finally, to demonstrate the imaging capability, experimental tests are conducted in an indoor environment while human targets are located in different places. Summary: This paper presents the design of a miniaturized broadband monopole antenna for 5G and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications in mobile handsets. The proposed monopole evolved from a rectangular geometry of size 12 × 5 mm. The slot and stub loading techniques are used to improve the impedance matching offered by the antenna. Furthermore, bandwidth broadening is achieved using lumped elements loaded onto the aperture of the antenna. The proposed miniaturized antenna exhibits a measured impedance bandwidth of 63.6% (3.0–5.8 GHz) covering the 5G spectrum allocations under sub‐6 GHz and the WLAN services. The antenna elements are replicated along the sides of the mock mobile handset PCB to study the functionality of the eight‐element MIMO antenna. The prototype MIMO antenna fabricated and tested in the laboratory offers a peak gain of 3 dBi and total efficiency greater than 72%. Owing to miniaturization, the spatial distribution of the antenna element provides a low envelope correlation (ECC) of less than 0.2 and good diversity gain (DG) greater than 7.8 dB. In addition, the mean effective gain (MEG), channel capacity loss (CCL), multiplexing efficiency (ME), and total active reflection coefficient (TARC) are evaluated and presented. The estimated MIMO metrics are within the desired range of operation and hence make the antenna suitable for a complex propagation environment. The prototype antenna is developed on a thin microwave laminate with low‐loss characteristics and tested under laboratory conditions. Summary: This paper proposes an energy‐harvesting‐aware model that aims to assess the performances of wireless sensor networks. Our model uses generalized stochastic Petri nets to define a sensor–neighbors relationship abstraction. The novelty of the proposed formulation is taking into account several real‐life considerations such as battery‐over breakdowns, unavailability of neighbors, retrial attempts, and sleeping mechanism in a single model. We use TimeNet tool to simulate the network behavior in order to evaluate its performance throughout different formulas after it had reached its steady state. Finally, we present a case study featuring the different solar energy recovery capabilities of the vast Algerian territory. The aim is to show with the presented model how to determine the kind of resources to be acquired in order to cope with the sensor deployment project requirements. Summary: Spectrum sensing based on detection techniques enables cognitive radio networks to detect vacant frequency bands. The spectrum sensing gives the opportunity to increase the radio spectrum channels re‐utilization. However, the main challenge in spectrum sensing is the simplicity of the considered detection approach and the amount of prior information needed to make an accurate decision. This paper proposes a novel sensing technique based on the autocorrelation function. This novel approach is based on the speed of convergence to zero of all autocorrelation coefficients. This technique shows the highest probability of detection for the same probability of false alarm target at low signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) compared with many standard detection techniques. The proposed method has been implemented using GNU Radio software and SDR (software‐defined radio) platforms. Summary: Since falls of the elderly can easily cause serious health problems in daily life, fall detection has received the attention of researchers. Traditionally, wearable sensors have been used to detect whether a person has fallen. However, wearable sensors may bring inconvenience to users' activities and affect user experience. In this paper, a fall detection approach based on RFID is proposed. In the proposed approach, non‐contact passive tags are used to construct an array of tags. Fall detection will be performed without the user wearing the device. The RSSI and phase data are collected when the reader queries the tags. Furthermore, an action segmentation algorithm is designed to quickly extract human action information based on the short‐term variance change of the phase signal. Subsequently, a deep residual network is built to classify fall movements and daily movements. Experiments show that the system can handle differences among users and locations and has an excellent performance in terms of recognition accuracy and efficiency, with an average accuracy rate of 96.77%. Summary: The analysis of spectrum sensing performance of energy detection (ED)‐based wireless cognitive radio sensor network (ED‐WCRSN) with hard‐decision combining (HDC) is presented in this paper. Particularly, several network parameters are derived to estimate the performance of ED‐WCRSN, considering channel errors, noise, and generalized α−μ fading. In the considered network, first, cognitive radio sensor (CRS) senses a primary user (PU), gets sensing data, and then uses an ED to make a local binary decisions about PU's active or inactive status. In both sensing and reporting channels, the channel error probability is also taken into account. Next, HDC technique is used at control center (CC) to combine the locally obtained decisions, and a final decision about the status of the PU is made. To do so, first, the expression for the novel and analytical, which incorporates noise and α−μ fading, detection probability in a CRS is derived and validated using Monte Carlo simulations in MATLAB and using an experimental setup. Then, utilizing derived mathematical expressions, closed‐form expressions of an average error rate (AER), optimal numbers of CRSs, and detection thresholds under noisy and α−μ fading conditions are developed. The substantial influence of channel and network factors is assessed using receiver operating characteristics (ROC), complementary ROC, and AER. Finally, the impacts of channel and network parameters on ED‐WCRSN performance are explored. Summary: This paper analyzes the performance of maximal ratio transmission (MRT)‐based cooperative communication system over Nakagami‐ m fading channels in the existence of co‐channel interference which is becoming a critical factor since the limited spectrum bands are shared by growing number of devices. In particular, a dual‐hop decode‐and‐forward relaying is investigated when multiple interferers affect the relay and the destination nodes. Firstly, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) and the probability density function (PDF) of the signal‐to‐interference‐plus‐noise ratio (SINR) are derived. Then, the exact expressions for the outage probability (OP), average bit error probability (ABEP), and ergodic capacity are obtained. Summary: In recent years, neighbor discovery techniques using directional antennas have attracted widespread attention. Most currently available directional neighbor discovery techniques are designed based on two‐dimensional (2D) space. Although these algorithms can accomplish the discovery between nodes, the algorithm portability is poor for three‐dimensional (3D) platforms, and the application scenarios are limited since new communication scenarios such as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) groups and maritime fleets emerge where information needs to be delivered in real time and nodes are located in 3D space. This paper proposes a new deterministic directional neighbor discovery algorithm in 3D space named 3D scan‐based algorithm (3D‐SBA) to meet the needs of the line‐of‐sight (LOS) scenes. Four existing neighbor discovery algorithms, namely, SBA‐based random mode selection (SBA‐R), quorum, complete random algorithm (CRA), and SBA‐based leader election algorithm (LE), have been extended to our proposed 3D algorithm model for simulation and comparative analysis with 3D‐SBA. The simulation results show that the 3D‐SBA algorithm consumes 51.15%, 180.20%, 9.48%, and 17.49% of the time slots compared with the four existing algorithms mentioned above. However, the quorum algorithm has a very high node collision rate, up to 92.11%. Ultimately, the 3D‐SBA algorithm has the best performance considering the conflicts and the density of network nodes. With the fast‐growing rate in which devices are being deployed, communication among them has become crucial to support the development of IoT applications. The Long‐Term Evolution‐Advanced (LTE‐A) is a potential access network for these M2M devices. However, the LTE‐A inherited characteristics from older cellular network standards, which were designed for human‐to‐human (H2H) and human‐to‐machine (H2M) communication. Accordingly, supporting M2M communication poses some challenges to LTE‐A, with a highlight of the congestion and overload problems in the radio access network (RAN) during the random access channel (RACH) procedure. Such a problem arises due to the large number of devices sending access‐request messages to the network and the limited number of resources to satisfy this new demand. In this paper, we introduce a solution to mitigate the impact of M2M communication in the LTE‐A network. Precisely, we model how to divide the random access resources into different types of devices as a bankruptcy problem. Then, we propose two solutions: (i) A game theory approach to formulate the bankruptcy problem as a transferable utility game, and (ii) an axiomatic method where some elements are considered for judging the amount of resources each class should receive. The simulation results show that our approaches present improvements in terms of energy efficiency, impact control of M2M over H2H accesses, and priority respect among the different classes of devices. Summary: Internet of Mobile Things (IoMT) have become very popular recently. The routing protocol for low power and lossy networks (RPL) is standardized for static topologies. However, mobility is the nature of IoT. Mobility serves as a promising candidate to harness hand‐off time issues, delay in data transmission, overhead, and low packet delivery rate (PDR) effectively. This study presents a comprehensive account of the mobility‐aware RPL‐based routing protocols to validate and compare the experimental results. Remarkably, classification methods are used in many articles. The aim is to introduce significant research efforts to improve RPL objective functions (OF) performance in hand‐off time, PDR, delay, overhead, and so forth. In this regard, a complete analysis of the existing routing protocols in IoMT has been presented to compare the results. The main focus of this study is on approaches that proposed new OFs for supporting mobility in RPL. Two main categories are considered to study RPL‐based routing protocol mechanisms: The mobile and static sink. The related studies on the mobile sink are divided into three groups: Single metric‐based OF, composite metric OF, and hybrid routing protocols. Also, the related works based on the static sink are categorized into four groups: Fuzzy logic‐based OF, trickle timer‐based OF, composite metrics‐based OF, and modification control messages‐based OF approach. This paper presents a detailed comparison of mechanisms in each category. It also highlights the pros, cons, open issues, and evaluated metrics of each paper. Summary: Node localization technology can identify and track nodes, making observing data more relevant; for example, information received at the sink node would be useless to the client if node localization data from the sensor region were not included. Localization is described as determining the location of unknown sensor nodes named destination nodes applying the recognized location of anchor nodes based on measurements such as time difference of occurrence, time of occurrence, angle of occurrence, triangulation, and maximum probability. The purpose of node localization is to assign coordinates points to all sensor nodes arbitrarily put in the monitoring region and have an unknown location. Localization of nodes is essential to account for the cause of events that help group sensor querying, routing, and network coverage. In this paper, data transmission among the nodes is done by comparing the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value with the supervised learning value. If the RSSI value is less than the supervised learning value, the data transmission takes place; else, no transmission. This paper proposes a hybrid localization scheme that effectively uses K‐fold optimization with supervised learning and gives good results for distance error and RSSI/energy efficiency. Summary: In smart cities, a large number of vehicles are connected into an intelligent transportation system and share information via the vehicular communication network (VCN). Accurate, fine‐grained, and comprehensive traffic measurements are very crucial for the controller's decision making in software‐defined networking (SDN) in VCN. Fine‐grained traffic measurements can accurately portray network behaviors for VCN. However, this will increase a large amount of measurement overhead. Therefore, how to effectively obtain accurate and fine‐grained traffic is a huge challenge for VCN. To the end, this paper proposes a novel accurate and SDN‐based fine‐grained traffic measurement approach to obtain comprehensive traffic in VCN. Firstly, based on SDN architecture, we exploit the pull‐based sampling mechanism to quickly obtain coarse‐grained traffic measurement values. Secondly, based on the matrix completion theory, we use both interpolation and optimization methods to obtain fine‐grained traffic measurements. Thirdly, the optimization model and detailed algorithm are proposed to attain accurate traffic. Finally, we conduct a larger number of simulations to validate the measurement approach proposed in this paper. Simulation results show that our approach exhibits better performance and is promising. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) has a significant impact on our daily lives as applications, services, devices, and industries become more intelligent. Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to significantly influence machine learning training on IoT devices without data sharing. Federated learning (FL) is a distributed machine learning method used in many IoT smart devices; however, FL ensures IoT security and privacy. The systematic literature review (SLR) method is used in this paper to review recently published articles in the FL‐based IoT domain. We analyzed 39 papers that were published between 2018 and March 2022. According to the evaluation factors, the accuracy factor has a high percentage in the FL‐based IoT domain by 29%, and the epoch has 23%, the time has 18%, the energy consumption has 9%, the delay has 9%, the communication overhead has 6%, and the privacy has 6%. This paper provides a comprehensive and up‐to‐date survey of QoS support in IoT networks and communication protocols. An analysis of the QoS‐aware IoT architectures, layer‐dependent QoS metrics, and network resource optimization methods utilized in IoT systems are given. Summary: Designing an energy efficient and durable wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is a key challenge as it personifies potential and reactive functionalities in harsh antagonistic environment at which wired system deployment is completely infeasible. Majority of the clustering mechanisms contributed to the literature concentrated on augmenting network lifetime and energy stability. However, energy consumption incurred by cluster heads (CHs) are high and thereby results in minimized network lifetime and frequent CHs selection. In this paper, a modified whale‐dragonfly optimization algorithm and self‐adaptive cuckoo search‐based clustering strategy (MWIDOA‐SACS) is proposed for sustaining energy stability and augment network lifetime. In specific, MWIDOA‐SACS is included for exploiting the fitness values that aids in determining two optimal nodes that are selected as optimal CH and cluster router (CR) nodes in the network. In MWIDOA, the search conduct of dragon flies is completely updated through whale optimization algorithm (WOA) for preventing load balancing at CHs. It minimized the overhead of CH by adopting CHs and CR for collecting information from cluster members and transmitting the aggregated data from CHs to the base station (BS). It included self‐adaptive cuckoo search (SACS) for achieving sink mobility using radius, energy stability, received signal strength, and throughput for achieving optimal data transmission process after partitioning the network into unequal clusters. A typical Internet of Things (IoT)‐based eHealth system includes medical sensors for data collection, access network to transmit data, and Cloud servers for data processing and storage. Machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL) have proven to be a powerful tool for data classification, disease prognosis, and diagnosis and even medication prescription. ML/DL models need a large amount of data and significant computational and storage capacities especially for the training phase. Summary: Recently, cloud computing has been recognized as an effective paradigm for offering an on‐demand platform, software services, and an efficient infrastructure to cloud clients. Due to the exponential growth of cloud tasks and the rapidly increasing number of cloud users, scheduling and balancing these tasks among involved heterogeneous virtual machines becomes an Non‐deterministic Polynomial hard (NP‐hard) optimization problem considering significant constraints, such as high rate of resource usage, low scheduling time, and low implementation cost. Summary: In heterogeneous access network, Multiple‐Input Multiple‐Output (MIMO) radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) system is an efficient approach for multiple signal transmission with low cost and complexity. The performance of RoF fronthaul system in MIMO system will be varied with different nonlinear effects. By adjusting various transmission parameters, such as the input signal power or the laser bias current, the nonlinear impacts produced by the RoF system can be reduced. In this paper, a novel algorithm Improved Aquila Optimization (IAO) is proposed to optimize transmission circumstances of MIMO RoF system. It determines the appropriate bias current for both lasers and Radio Frequency (RF) signal power in a short period. The input signals are wavelength multiplexed with Intensity Modulation and Direct Detection (IM/DD) applied. The carrier as well as transmission frequency is governed by the MIMO‐Long‐Term Evolution (LTE) standard. The proposed system is implemented in MATLAB, and the performance is evaluated. The experimental results show that fast convergence and trade‐off between noise and nonlinearity are obtained with varying bandwidth. In the experimental scenario, the maximum Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) of 1.88, 3.14, and signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) of 3.204, and 2.698 was attained for both quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) modulation. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) is a recent wireless telecommunications platform, which contains a set of sensor nodes linked by wireless sensor networks (WSNs). These approaches split the sensor nodes into clusters, in which each cluster consists of an exclusive cluster head (CH) node. The major scope of this task is to introduce a novel CH selection in WSN applicable to IoT using the self‐adaptive meta‐heuristic algorithm. This paper aids in providing the optimal routing in the network based on direct node (DN) selection, CH selection, and clone cluster head (CCH) selection. DNs are located near the base station, and it is chosen to avoid the load of CH. The adoption of the novel self‐adaptive coyote optimization algorithm (SA‐COA) is used for the DN selection and CCH selection. When the nodes are assigned in the network, DN and CCH selection is performed by the proposed SA‐COA. Then, the computation of residual energy helps to select the CH, by correlating with the threshold energy. CCH is proposed to copy the data from the CH to avoid the loss of data in transmitting. By forming the CCH, the next CH can be easily elected with the optimal CCH using SA‐COA. From the simulation findings, the best value of the designed SA‐COA‐LEACH model is secured at 1.14%, 3.17%, 1.18%, and 7.33% progressed than self‐adaptive whale optimization algorithm (SAWOA), cyclic rider optimization algorithm (C‐ROA), krill herd algorithm (KHA), and COA while taking several nodes 50. Summary: The ability of high splitting gain of dense small cells contributed to the rapid establishment of ultradense networks (UDNs). Its higher efficiency to deal with high traffic data demand made UDN a most‐promising technology for the future 5G environment. To tackle these complexities, in this paper, the ambient intelligence exploration multi‐delay deep deterministic policy gradient‐based artificial rabbits optimization (AEMDPG‐ARO) algorithm is proposed for resolving data rate and the issues of latency in the small base station (SBS) and macro base station (MBS) of the wireless sensor network. The complexity in attaining lower latency and higher data rate is achieved through a novel technique AEMDPG‐ARO. The ambient intelligence exploration multi‐delay (AIEM) is combined with deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) for overcoming the local optimum and diversity issues of DDPG. The data sample for this study is obtained through the WINNER channel model. The proposed AEMDPG‐ARO algorithm's efficiency is compared to varied state of art methods. The performance evaluation is carried out with regard to network lifetime, end‐to‐end delay, packet delivery ratio, sum rate overall energy consumption, latency, and minimum rate and maximum rate of the network. The proposed AEMDPG‐ARO algorithm gives better performance with reduced time complexity and better metrics rate in the result analysis. THz is one of the most promising candidates for 6G systems because it provides enormous bandwidth, up to 100 GHz, and a massive data rate of up to 1 Tbps. THz antennas, antenna arrays, and MIMO antenna arrays in 6G are hot research topics for implementing 6G wireless communication systems. Summary: In large‐scale heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (WSNs), clustering is particularly significant for lowering sensor nodes (SNs) energy consumption and creating algorithm more energy efficient. The selection of cluster heads (CHs) is a crucial task in the clustering method. In this paper, optimised K‐means clustering algorithm and optimised K‐means based modified intelligent CH selection based on BFOA for large‐scale network (lar‐OK‐MICHB) is hybridised for CH selection process. Here, we utilised the extended capabilities of OK‐MICHB algorithm for large‐scale network. Furthermore, in many applications where energy is a primary constraint, such as military surveillance and natural disaster prediction, the stability region is also a significant factor, with a longer network lifespan being a primary requirement. In the proposed approach, only the CH selection is made after every round in place of cluster and CH change as done in conventional hierarchical algorithm. The simulation results reveal that, while keeping the distributive structure of WSNs, suggested lar‐OKMIDEEC can locate real greater leftover energy nodes for selection of CH without utilising randomise or estimated procedures. Furthermore, as compared with the multi‐level MIDEEC protocol, this offers a larger stability region with 68.96% increment, more consistent selection of CH in every round, and greater packets (i.e., in numbers) received at the base station (BS) with a longer network lifetime with 327% increment. Summary: In this paper, in order to improve the received signal strength (RSS) and signal quality, three arrays of electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antennas are suggested for the ultra‐high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) communication and sensing system applications. Instead of the single antenna, the array antennas have recently been widely used in many communication systems because of their peak gains, better radiation patterns, and higher radiation efficiency. Also, there are some important issues to use the antenna array like high data rates in wireless communication systems and to better understand the many targets or sensors. In this article, a wireless sensor network (WSN) is being investigated to overcome multipath fading and interference by antenna nulling technology that can be achieved through beam control ESPAR array antennas. The proposed ESPAR array antennas exhibit higher gains like 9.63, 10.2, and 12 dBi and proper radiation patterns from one array to another. Moreover, we investigate the mutual coupling effect on the performance of array antennas with different spacing (0.5λ, 0.75λ, λ) and configurations. It is found that the worst mutual coupling reduced by −28 to −34 dB for 2 × 2 array, −3 to −43 dB for 2 × 3 array, and finally −42 dB to −51 dB due to the antenna spacing from 0.5λ to λ. Thus, these suggested antennas could effectively be applied in the WSN communication systems, internet of things (IoT) networks, and massive wireless and backscatter communication systems. Summary: In this paper, it is proposed that a hybrid global adaptive coupling synchronization scheme among N Lorenz chaotic dynamical nodes to realize the secure communication system between base station and multi‐unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formation. The specific method is that the feedback drive–response synchronization is utilized for first two nodes of base station and the leader of multi‐UAV formation, and the nodes of all UAVs are coupled by unidirectional adaptive coupling synchronization according to a directed link in ad hoc network of multi‐UAV formation. It is demonstrated that the asymptotic stability of the proposed hybrid adaptive coupled synchronization by constructing the Lyapunov function. In this way, the encrypted information formed by plaintext information masked into the chaotic sequence generated by the chaotic dynamical node of base station; meanwhile, it is fed back into the base station node as the drive system. On the other hand, encrypted information is forwarded to the leader node as the response system for decryption. The feedback driver–response synchronization is used to realize secure communication between the base station and the leader of multi‐UAV formation. Meanwhile, secure communication among its leader and followers is achieved through the unidirectional adaptive coupling synchronization in the network. This strategy ensures the multi‐UAV formation decrypting encrypted information synchronously and effectively improves the security, consistency, and overall performance of their commands. Summary: Antenna miniaturization is a typical trend in contemporary wireless systems, notably for current wireless technology, to meet multiband needs while preserving high transmission qualities. The terahertz (THz) regime is helpful in advanced applications and significantly impacts wireless technology. This paper proposes a double‐layered hexagonal split ring resonator (HSRR) based on a microstrip patch antenna (MPA) and analyzes the simulated characteristics. The HSRR width is varied for different thickness "w" values and compares the analysis of with and without HSRR in the antenna. Due to the impact of metamaterials, the optimized antenna produces −44.02‐dB return loss, 1.012 voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), 6.47‐dBi gain, and 4.78‐dB directivity at 1.8‐THz frequency. Summary: This paper proposes a novel distributed stochastic routing strategy using mobile sink based on double Q‐learning algorithm to improve the network performance in wireless sensor network with uncertain communication links. Furthermore, in order to extend network lifetime, a modified leach‐based clustering technique is proposed. To balance the energy dissipation between nodes, the selected cluster head nodes are then rotated based on the newly suggested threshold energy value. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms outperform the QWRP, QLMS, ESRP and HACDC in terms of network lifetime by 18.33%, 35.1%, 39.7% and 44.7%, respectively. Summary: Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), the emerging trend of Internet of Things (IoTs), has undoubtedly become a promising trend to improve communication among vehicles on the roads. Vehicle‐to‐everything (V2X) communication that is based on 5G technology enables vehicle users to communicate and collaborate with each other to enhance road traffic efficiency and safety. Owing to the increased traffic load and restricted resources of existing network substructure, a channel that responds to the latency and reliability needs of V2X communication must be designed. Thereby, several intelligent spectrum allocation techniques have been proposed to improve the system's overall effectiveness. In this paper, we discuss the spectrum sharing issue of V2X communication in Device‐to‐Device (D2D)‐based cellular networks. We propose a new multi‐layer neural network (MLNN)‐based Resource Allocation and sharing approach (MNNRA) for D2D‐based V2X communications. According to the main advantages of MLNN, the proposed algorithm takes several profits by improving system performance while reducing computational complexity. Summary: The rapid update of computing power leads to exponential data traffic growth, and the incidence of network attacks is also increasing. It is significantly important to analyze and predict network traffic accurately in the early stage and take corresponding preventive measures. The existing network flow integrated forecasting models still have some bottlenecks that are difficult to solve, for example, the slow optimization speed of modal decomposition parameters, easy falling into local optimal solutions, the slow convergence speed of the training process, and poor generalization capability. In this paper, particle swarm optimization (PSO) is utilized to improve the parameters selection process of the variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm and the extreme learning machine (ELM) algorithm. First, the PSO‐VMD combined with multi‐scale permutation entropy (MPE) is utilized to decompose the original network flow, and multiple eigenmode components are obtained. Second, the PSO‐ELM is utilized to train the network traffic prediction model, and the PSO parameters in PSO‐ELM are updated through adaptive weight adjustment and synchronous learning factors to increase the training and prediction speed, and the component prediction results are reconstructed to get a high‐precision network flow forecasting result. Finally, through the prediction and verification of the public network flow data of the WIDE backbone, the result of this experiment indicates that the VMD‐PSO‐ELM can break through the bottlenecks of slow optimization speed of VMD decomposition parameters, reduce the computational complexity of ELM, accelerate the convergence speed, and increase the forecasting accuracy. Summary: Blockchain, a popular technology, remains the decentralized data management framework approved for use by many industries. The application to the insurance industry needs to offer mobility using the wireless network. The wireless network has many limitations to overcome. This paper focuses on such problems and introduces three levels of a solution to the problem. The first level is resolved using the edge computers as storage at the agencies and the partners. The second level of economic operation is solved by introducing a D2D network solution. The third level of high transactions over the network is considered using a two‐stage optimization method. The introduced optimization algorithms are simulated, and results are compared with a classical step‐by‐step calculation method that is not feasible under real‐time application. Subsequently, the quantity of gadgets getting to the Internet through WLANs, for example, PCs, cell phones, or wearables, is expanding radically at the equivalent time that applications' throughput necessities do. To provide wireless networks with supplementary spectral resources, the researchers are considering the aggregation of frequency spectrums in licensed, unlicensed, and shared access (SA) bands. Channel aggregation/channel bonding (CA/CB) techniques accumulate quite a few channels together as one channel for the purpose of achieving better bandwidth utilization. In this study, we focus on reliable CA/CB techniques in different wireless networks. CA/CB procedures are utilized for empowering higher information rates by transmitting in more extensive channels, accordingly expanding range proficiency with the assured secure channel for communication. We also discuss the spectral scarcity issues in today's wireless IoT network. This paper presents an extensive survey on CA/CB procedures and methods, issues and challenges, and open research areas related to IoT devices. Summary: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) plays an indispensable role in the human life by supporting a diversified number of applications that includes military, environment monitoring, manufacturing, education, agriculture, etc. However, the sensor node batteries cannot be replaced under its deployment in an unattended or remote area due to their wireless existence. Cluster‐based routing is significant in handling the issue of energy stability and network lifetime. The meta‐heuristic algorithms‐based cluster head (CH) selection is determined to be highly promising for attaining the objective of CH selection that results in acquiring an optimal network performance. In this paper, a Hybrid Grasshopper and Improved Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithm (HGICSOA)‐based clustering scheme is proposed for attaining potential CH selection and guarantee significant sink mobility‐based data transmission. The capability of GHOA that controls the rate of exploitation and exploration degree is utilized for CH selection. It specifically adopted OBL‐based GHOA for optimal CH selection based on the objective function, which is formulated using node density, residual energy, and distance between sensor node and sink. It incorporated new CSOA for mobility‐based data transmission for increasing population diversity. It also utilized the benefits of ICSOA with a predominant local search strategy for achieving better sink mobility‐based data transmission. Simulation and statistical results confirmed that the proposed HGICSOA is better in attaining maximum energy stability by 17.21% and improved network lifetime by 23.82%, compared to the benchmarked schemes used for investigation.
