Scabies, known colloquially as the 7-year itch, is a contagious skin infection that occurs among humans and other animals. The treatment of choice is still controversial. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of topical ivermectin vs. crotamiton cream 10% for the treatment of scabies. In total, 340 patients with scabies were enrolled, and randomized into two groups. The first group received 1% ivermectin applied topically to the affected skin. The dose employed was 400 μg/kg, repeated once the following week, and the second group received crotamiton 10% cream and were told to apply this twice daily for five consecutive days. Treatment was evaluated at intervals of two and four weeks, and if there was treatment failure at the 2-week follow-up, treatment was repeated. Two applications of topical ivermectin provided a cure rate of 64.7% at the 2-week follow-up, which increased to 82.3% at the 4-week follow-up after repeating the treatment. Treatment with single applications of crotamiton cream 10% was effective in 41.2% of patients at the 2-week follow-up, which increased to 64.7% at the 4-week follow-up after this treatment was repeated. Ivermectin was quite safe in our cases. Two applications of ivermectin were as effective as single applications of crotamiton 10% cream at the 2-week follow-up. Paraneoplastic SCLE is clinically similar to idiopathic SCLE, mostly with positive anti-Ro antibody, reported predominantly in male patients, and responds to the same treatment for idiopathic SCLE. Xie I et al i [2] reported three elderly patients with SCLE, 58, 77, and 61 years, who had developed small cell lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and bronchogenic carcinoma, respectively. Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) is a primary cicatricial alopecia characterized by hairline recession, pruritus, and facial papules (FP). Various therapies are used to stabilize disease activity and induce remission. However, FP of FFA is resistant to treatment in many cases. In this review, we searched the PubMed and Google Scholar databases to screen the published literature on treatment options for FP in the context of FFA. Overall, 12 studies were included in this review. Available literature suggests a noticeable improvement in resistant‐to‐treatment FP in FFA patients with oral isotretinoin. The available evidence is limited and is derived from retrospective studies and case reports/series. Systemic isotretinoin can be considered a promising therapeutic regimen for treating resistant‐to‐treatment FP of FFA patients. Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common type of cutaneous T‐cell lymphoma. However, it is rare in pediatric population. Most of the cases of pediatric MF present with hypopigmented patches and/or various other forms, which may often mimic common childhood dermatoses, thereby causing a delay in the diagnosis. There are no established treatment guidelines for pediatric MF. As the progression of childhood MF is extremely rare and it has an indolent course, it is usually diagnosed at an early stage (IA, IB, IIA), and hence phototherapy with a response rate of >80% is a well‐established effective treatment in children. However, as recurrences are frequently seen on stopping the therapies, a maintenance regimen and long‐term follow‐up is equally important. This article reviews the epidemiological factors, clinical presentations, diagnosis, and various treatment modalities used in pediatric MF. Dermal fillers have become one of the main tools for soft tissue augmentation in the field of cosmetic dermatology. There are many types of fillers. While hyaluronic acid fillers are generally accepted as ones that fill in a space, they and other materials have been shown to have a biostimulatory effect on tissue through the process of a controlled foreign body reaction. Little research is available comparing their effects in terms of new collagen formation post administration. The goal of this review article is to evaluate the biostimulatory effects and the levels of neocollagenesis of poly‐l‐lactic acid (PLLA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), polycaprolactone (PCL), and hyaluronic acid (HA). Cutaneous manifestation of COVID-19 reporting from Middle-Eastern countries: A point of view! Dear Editor, Cutaneous signs/rashes in association with the COVID-19 pandemic have a conflicting incidence that has varied from 0.2% in a cohort of Chinese patients to 20.4% in an Italian cross-sectional study.1,2 These cutaneous signs are polymorphic, including erythema, chilblain-like, and urticarial lesions, to name a few, and may be underestimated or under-recognized by nondermatologists owing to lack of the typical respiratory signs of the disease in some patients that might lead to misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis of patients with atypical/extrapulmonary presentations. It is unclear whether these signs are host-specific, are contributing pathogenic factors leading to its development, or it is merely a coincidental phenomenon.3 The clinical and the prognostic significance of these signs remains uncertain or unexplored, until further studies.4 Dermatologists interested in investigating SARS-CoV-2, who are recruited to bolster pandemic-fighting staffs, can play an important role in diagnosing and managing paucisymptomatic COVID-19 cases. Patients with vitiligo often seek medical attention, as it diminishes their quality of life resulting in significant morbidity. Several topical and systemic therapies are in vogue targeting the immunological aspect of this disease, but results are often unsatisfactory, and complete cure remains elusive. Recently, simvastatin, a 3‐hydroxy‐3‐methylyglutaryl‐coenzyme A (HMG‐CoA) reductase inhibitor, is being evaluated for vitiligo management because of its multimodal action, easy availability, and low cost. The proposed multimodal actions range from anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant, to immunomodulatory properties which may be of therapeutic benefit in vitiligo patients.
