Facing the challenges of climate deterioration, environmental pollution, and energy shortages, China has put forward the goals of "carbon dioxide peaking and carbon neutrality", and the electricity sector will be the key area and the main direction of carbon emissions reduction. To prospect China's power system and explore the potential for establishing China's zero-coal power system in the future, this paper proposes a forecasting-test framework for long-term power system planning. We predict, evaluate, and analyze China's power system from 2025 to 2060 using the proposed forecasting-test framework. During this process, the power capacity mix and the electricity generation mix of China's power system will gradually transition from coal-fired generators dominated to wind and solar generators dominated. Moreover, the roles of different generators and energy storages are illustrated through the seasonal comparison and sensitivity analysis of the installed capacity of generators. The results indicate that coal-fired generators can be completely withdrawn from the power system, confirming the feasibility and possibility of achieving China's zero-coal power system by 2060. Although the timing may be advanced or delayed in different scenarios, achieving China's zero-coal power system will require exercising nationwide planning and making joint efforts of various sectors from now on. The IPCC, a collection of 800 of the world’s leading climate change scientists, state that future climate related risks to society and infrastructure are likely to change. It is therefore important for the power industry to consider the possible impacts of future climate change on infrastructure performance. However, very few studies have been published to date examining the potential impacts of climate change on power distribution poles networks, which constitute large and valuable infrastructure assets worldwide. The work presented in this paper builds on the limited research in this area by developing a framework for examination of the possible impacts of climate change on timber power pole networks. The time-dependent event-based model developed herein allows network maintenance and predicted climate change effects to be considered, while also incorporating uncertainty associated with both climate change predictions, and structural reliability modelling of infrastructure networks over time. The results of a case study which examined notional power pole networks for five Australian cities revealed that the effects of climate change on predicted power pole performance can be significant. Wind failures for the Brisbane location were predicted to increase by approximately 60% when considering a period from 2015 to 2070, under the severe climate change scenario. However, the predicted impacts are also highly regionally variable, with one location considered experiencing positive climate change impacts for a medium climate change scenario. The increasing attention paid to the problem of climate changes and the issue of sustainable development have led some studies to concentrate on the mitigation of energy depletion and environmental pollution through a tax policy. This paper employs the Stackelberg game model and numerical analysis to examine the double dividend effect in Taiwan's electricity market by taking into account the neutrality of electricity tax revenue. According to our estimation, the appropriate scale of the electricity tax rate is NT$5.3105 per kW h. At this tax rate, the double dividend effect does exist and social welfare hits the maximum. • Residential peninsular microgrid participation in bid-based power injection contract through an aggregator. • Enhanced weather forecast method based on recursive least-squares has been adopted. • Uncertain behavior of solar irradiation using Markov chains is modeled. In the context of smart cities, the growing share of solar power induces uncertainty in power generation due to inherent climatic variations. Accurate forecasting will be a key point for future residential microgrids since inability to do so could dramatically impact power balance and grid stability. This paper proposes an enhanced energy management framework which aims to efficiently address uncertainty issues due to local climatic variations in a peninsula context. The proposed framework uses a ten-state Markov chain to generate stochastic solar irradiation as well as a forecast correction method based on recursive least-squares updated every hours in order to efficiently take part in hour-ahead power bidding process. Numerical results highlight benefits obtained by combining proposed forecast correction method and storage in a practical example of Saint-Nazaire, a city located in peninsula of Guérande, France. Besides, a sensitivity analysis regarding impact of storage size and aggregator penalty on operation cost and commitment indices is investigated. Obtained results demonstrates better accuracy in delivering power to the grid and will lead residential microgrids dealing with strong climatic variations to decrease their operation cost and increase power balance for all grid stakeholders.
