In this paper we study interval-valued fuzzy relations. We consider preference relations, i.e. a triplet consisting of strict preference, indifference and incomparability which are defined with the use of a fuzzy negation. We analyze the preservation of the fuzzy negation based reciprocity property of interval-valued fuzzy relations by aggregation functions and by some basic interval-valued fuzzy relations. We use diverse representa-tions of aggregation functions. We also consider the connection between N-reciprocal relations and transitivity properties. We provide a numerical example where the final alternative is chosen with the use of generalized voting method, where admissible linear orders for intervals are applied. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Economic inequality measures are employed as a key component in various socio-demographic indices to capture the disparity between the wealthy and poor. Since their inception, they have also been used as a basis for modelling spread and disparity in other contexts. While recent research has identified that a number of classical inequality and welfare functions can be considered in the framework of OWA operators, here we propose a framework of penalty-based aggregation functions and their associated penalties as measures of inequality. In this paper, we analyze the correspondence among the rankings of the Spanish regions according to different measures of monetary poverty and quality of life, in 2012. To do that, the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient is used. Different aggregation methods are applied to calculate the selected measures of poverty and quality of life. The monetary poverty measures aggregate the income gaps, while the quality of life measures aggregate a set of indicators dealing with ten different domains. In this paper we introduce a new family of poverty measures for comparing and ordering social situations. The aggregation scheme of these poverty measures is based on the one-parameter family of exponential means. The poverty measures introduced satisfy interesting properties and the dual decomposition of the underlying exponential means induces a natural decomposition of the proposed poverty indices themselves into three underlying factors: incidence, intensity, and inequality among the poor.
