Today, the most urgent issue that faces start-up entrepreneurs is the issue of attracting funding for the implementation of the project. Traditional forms of capital raising, such as credit, can solve these problems, but it may be problematic for start-up companies and individual entrepreneurs to take out loans on good terms. The problem of capital search served as an impetus for the development of new models for financing projects, one of which is crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular source of fundraising. The pace of expansion crowdfunding platforms in Russia and in the world, are very high. Already today they bring in amounts that are measured in billions of dollars a year. "Crowdfunding" - a term borrowed and quite new for Russia, its definition is not yet in the solid domestic financial and economic reference books and dictionaries. In this paper, we examined various methods of financing projects, comparing them with models based on crowdfunding. Since this model is a relatively new instrument of the financial market, the topic of its application has not yet been fully explored and is an urgent issue for economists to study. The goal of the final qualifying work is to reveal the financial features of the funding model based on crowdfunding. Objectives of the study: • Consider the nature and types of crowdfunding, as well as crowdfunding platforms; • Analysis of crowdfunding tools; • Consideration of the field of application of crowdfunding; • Identify features and problems of crowdfunding. The object of the study carried out in this work is the new method of financing projects, crowdfunding. The subject of the study is crowdfunding companies as a set of activities performed in the process of fundraising with the help of crowdfunding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
