Herein, we reported the ultrasound-assisted preparation of Ketjenblack carbon@cerium dioxide (KBC@CeO2) nanocomposite as modification material for the fabrication of highly sensitive methyl parathion (MP) electrochemical sensor (KBC@CeO2/GCE). For the KBC@CeO2 nanocomposite, KBC nanoparticles constructed a three-dimensional (3D) interconnected pearl chain–like carbon conductive network structure with excellent electrical conductivity due to the point-point close connection of carbon nanoparticles, which provided highly conductive charge transport channels. Moreover, CeO2 nanoparticles could promote the high enrichment of MP molecules due to the good affinity ability. The combination of KBC and CeO2 nanoparticles effectively improved the MP detection performance of the KBC@CeO2/GCE sensor. The low limit of detection (LOD) of 1.8 nM could be realized at the fabricated MP electrochemical sensor in a two-stage linear MP concentration range of 0.01–10 μM, respectively. In addition, the fabricated sensor exhibited good repeatability, reproducibility, and anti-interference performance. The KBC@CeO2/GCE sensor could present low relative standard deviation (RSD) of 0.97–3.99% and satisfactory recoveries of 95.23–103.3% for the detection of MP in tap water and oolong tea samples.
