The article focuses on California's transportation strategies to reduce vehicular emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). It states that the European Union and other governments have adopted the executive order issued by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005 which required the state to decrease GHG emissions by 80 percent from 1990 levels by 2050. It also highlights California's implementation of low-carbon fuel standard (LCFS) and the development of low-carbon alternative fuels.
